At PernMUSH's Telgar Weyr,
weyrling training carries out a function similar to the training described
in Anne McCaffrey's Pern books. Players who Impress a dragon spend eight
weeks learning both In- Character and Out-of-Character information that
helps them to both play their characters more accurately and creatively
and to grow accustomed to technical aspects of dragonriding. Roleplayed
activities parallel the activities of a 'real Pernese weyrling', and
lectures help explain code, MUSH etiquette, and various tricks of the
dragonriding trade.
The purpose of this web site is to make the OOC information relating to weyrling training
widely available to the weyrling class, saving online
class-time for roleplay, which is, after all, the driving motivation
behind not just weyrling training, but the entire MUSH. Also to be found
here are some ideas for roleplay with dragonets in various stages of
development, as well as what sort of things weyr residents, dragonriders
and visitors can expect of the weyrlings as their training progresses.
I realize there is a lot
of information contained here, especially through the first few
weeks of the training. Please don't worry about that, and
use the information here as a guide and reference for RP, not as something
there will be a quiz on, at the end of each week. I have tried to give
ideas for things to RP at each stage of training, as well as 'technical'
information. These ideas are ideas only. Feel free to run with your own.
In the past, this is information other classes have requested, and is
altered and 'improved' with each clutch.

Please note, at times, there are other NPC weyrling classes, though
this is not the case with the Spring 2007 class. Note as well that there
is at least one other NPC assistant weyrlingmaster. The NPC assistant

Lynx-users) are currently available. Weyrlings should be up to date on the
training described. Each week will be made available as the weyrling
period progress.
