Random Olympics thought.

I'm really looking forward to seeing whether this Phelps kid can tie or beat Spitz's record for swimming medals. I watched him do the 400m IM yesterday, and holy shit, the kid is amazing. I hope he can do it.

But I also hope that, if he doesn't--and he's only human, in spite of the fact that he's an inspired and amazing swimmer--he doesn't get shit from people because of it. He's already won a gold. How many people in the world can claim that kind of honor? Not only that, but I think that the interest he's sparked in swimming will last for quite awhile.

So...yeah. Hopefully, he'll do it, but if he doesn't...well. It's still been pretty bloody amazing to watch him.

Bah!

You know...I seriously wouldn't mind donating to firefighter funds and things like that, but jesus christ, the guy who just called me was a right pushy bastard. Yeah, believe me, I know that it's a worthy cause, and yeah, I'm sure that they would appreciate knowing that there are people out there who support them wholeheartedly in what they do. I'm sure that the troops serving the US overseas and at home would like the same thing.

So, yeah. I don't object to the idea that someone's calling me to ask for a donation for the firefighters.

I DO object to the fact that the telemarketer spiel is specifically designed to YANK the guilt/heartstrings into soliciting donations.

I also DO object to the fact that the guy was such a pushy asshole and kept interrupting me when I was trying to talk. YES, I get that it's a worthy cause. YES, I get that they appreciate it, blah blah blah. SHUT UP and LET ME TALK. Asshole.

It's tempting to call these people back and tell them that I *had* intended to donate, until their telemarketer turned out to be a prick and the sales spiel was emotionally manipulative.

Gah.

I am a big goob.

Want to know how big a goob I am?

Right now, I have my laptop set up in the kitchen, because I wanted to be able to make soap and mush at the same time. Yeah, see? Big goob. I actually sort of had a valid reason--I wanted to see if anyone had any specific requests for the crafty-foo that I'm doing today, but yeah, I'm still a big nerd, but that's okay.

Today, I'm working on some white honey almond and cucumber melon soaps, as well as some more apple stuff--two requests that were made quite awhile ago, that I made, but never sent...mostly because the white stuff for the honey almond didn't turn out as I was hoping.

The apple stuff should be fun, also, but I'm reminded, I need to send email to the recipient to get an address.

I'm also going to make some chocolate stuff for a friend of mine. He hasn't asked me for any in a long time, but I'm sure that he'll appreciate it nonetheless. :)

So, anyway. If anyone has any requests, let me know, I'll see what I can do. I may already have it made.

Random comment. Life of the Party has this bath salt/bath fizzy kit that I just made--the bath fizzy mold has three fruit shaped molds and three random shape ones as well. One of the fruit shaped ones is supposed to be a pear, but from upside down, it looks....er. Well. It doesn't look like a pear, I'll just say that.

So, yay more craft stuff.

Snerk.

Bwah.

The first named storm of the hurricane season is named after my sperm donor parent. Sadly amusing, considering that it's also threatning the Carolinas.

Yes, I am amused at strange things. I've never claimed otherwise. :)

And yeah, this post is pretty much pointless.
