TiVo caught the Simpsons episode where Apu gets fired from the Kwik-E-Mart! Brett hasn't seen this one, and this is probably my absolute favorite episode ever. Woohoo.
Marge: "Lisa, is it too spicy for you?"
Lisa: "I can see through time..."
Apu: "That is the scene of my spiritual de-pantsing."

It's the one where Bart has to pass this one test or he'll be held back in his grade. I believe he procrastinates, and then, the day before the test, he realizes he's screwed. So he wishes or prays really hard for a snow day, and he gets one! And then he has to force himself to study and not risk the temptation of going out to enjoy all the fun in the snow, which he can see from his window. He goes to school the next day, and he writes the test, and Mrs. Krubapple marks it and tells him it's a fail. And now we're at the part that made me cry.
Bart's stunned. He wails, "But I *tried*! I really, really *tried*!" He starts to cry, sobbing, and continues to say, "I studied! I *tried*!" He's utterly crushed about it. Broke my little heart, it did. So he absently makes some historical reference, something like, 'Now I know what George Washington must've felt when he something something something or other'. Mrs. Krubapple blinks at him, notes it's a suitably obscure fact, and gives him the bonus point he needs to pass.
I also like the one with Pinchy the lobster!
