Apprentice's Lament

Note: Thamon is the writer of this original song and in it he proves he knows a great deal more about music than I. ;)

Apprentice's Lament

A tercet, a crotchet, a bass clef in my pocket!

Capriccioso and morendo are a bit beyond my ken,
And that dreaded plagal cadence is quite frankly 'round the bend.
Hemidemisemiquavers leave my nerves completely jangled
And I wish I could remember where the tremolando went!

A tercet, a crotchet, a bass clef in my pocket!

Pizzicato and spiccato score their ictus on my cantus,
Those enharmonic tetrachords adagietto it some more-
Rallentando makes it largo in a poco not con brio
And I'd likely lose my foot if I could only take it off!

A tercet, a crotchet, a bass clef in my pocket!

Diatonic intervals with major- no, that's minor modes
Triads, triplets, broken chords; there's semitones, arpeggios
And don't forget- hey, what was that? What are you doing? Give it back!
That's my knot! Oh my. Faranth. Promoted? What? You must be nuts!

A tercet, a crotchet, a bass clef in my pocket!
