The Secret of Life

Kassima: "May, the secret to a full life is that you've got t'kiss every rider on the planet. I told you I didn't want t'live a full life, but did you believe me?"

Note: This filk is unusual in that it was inspired by my summary-line for a log; I decided to filk the first verse of Monty Python's 'Meaning of Life' as a summary for the log called "The Secret of Life," and things just got rolling from there. Credits go to the aforementioned madmen for the original basis for this odd thing, as well as to K'ti for inspiring it.

The Secret of Life

Why are we here?  What's life all about?
Did Faranth exist, or is there some doubt?
Well tonight, we're going to sort it all out,
For K'ti holds the Secret of Life!

What's the point of fighting Thread?
If it's age or plague that kills us, are we less dead?
Or perhaps the difference is just in our head--
Is that then the Secret of Life?

Is life just a game where we make up the rules
While we're searching for something to do?
Or are we just like the great dragons we ride,
Designed for some special purpose too-too-too-too-too-too-too-too-too?

What is life?  What is our task?
Is there more to it than this, and just who do we ask?
Perhaps we'd find truth in the dregs of a flask--
Hey, K'ti, what's the Secret of Life?

For riders, this world is one harrowing mess!
And things get so confusing, it's true!
And the Harpers all say we're just like the great dragons we ride,
Designed for some special purpose too-too-too-too-too-too-too-too-too!

So just why--why are we here?
And just what, what, what, what do we fear?
Well, step up and kiss K'ti and it will all be clear!
For that is the Secret of Life!  Yes, you heard what I said--
That is the Secret of Life!
