Not that G'har or the men on her team likely appreciated it, but still! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Log: You walk towards the MBH - Pond. Stephon watches Kvasith, giggling a little. Then he realizes the length of ruts in the earth the dragon's massive head makes, and he watches with less amusement, and more awe. Loren chuckles and shakes his head. "I wonder how the other greased porcine catchers fared?" he says to no one in particular. Tamina winces as she looks in the direction of Tasso, commenting to G'har, "His swim isn't going very well. What do you want to see? " Aurian comes into the meadow from the field to the east. Aurian rakes her hands through her hair as she follows Kassima. A brown mud-creature ambles in from the field, walking stiffly and with something of a waddle. Only a few would be able to realize that the mud-creature is Kassima until she says, "Aye, Lyss, I know I look nigh like a brown dragon--but what did you expect, that 'twould be held in *green* mud?" The positively filthy rider lays a positively filthy hand on the green's neck, eliciting a long-suffering sigh. "G'deve, Falsanath," the human half offers to the nearby bronze. G'har nods his agreement to Tamina's words. "Well, looks like something's going to happen here, might as well find out what." Falsanath's amused warble to Kassima catches his attention, and he turns to stare. "Oh, boy," he murmurs. Loren stares at the brown apparition and stifles a laugh. "Oh, my." he says in wonder. Tasso sits in the water of the bathing nook and scrubs at his mud-caked pants. Aurian walks over to Kvasith, she scritches at him for several long moments. She chuckles. Kassima turns to wave cheerfully to those staring, with a grin directed to G'har. "Hey, at least I caught 'im!" she points out. "Though m'leathers will never be the same." To say nothing of her hair, her face, her fingernails, and everything else that's loaded down with muck. Jesica comes in from the road to the west. Tasso grins at Kassima. "Plenty of soap-stone," he says, chuckiling. Tamina turns as Kassima comes in from the field, her eyes widening in first surprise then laughter, "Seems like you're right G'har. I wonder what happened." Lysseth> Falsanath senses that Lysseth asks long-sufferingly, << Is your rider as odd as *this*? I leave her alone for one second.... >> Loren points to the pond. "Beware, though. Tasso says it's cold." Dragon> Lysseth senses that Falsanath sounds quite amused. << No, I think your rider surpasses mine in oddness. >> Kassima calls over to Tasso, laughing, "Why, when there's another mud-game yet t'come? May as well just save m'self the effort of getting dirty again later!" Abruptly, she tilts her face up to beam at Falsanath. "Why, thankee!" she says to the bronze. Lysseth just rumbles in quite audible amusement. Kyrsah comes in from the road to the west. G'har murmurs to Tamina, "I don't think we want to know." He winks, then calls to Kassi, "Good for you." Aurian calls to Kassima, "What did you win now.." She leans against Kvasith's head. Kyrsah smiles and waves to everyone. Tasso wraps a stick around the legs of his now-passably-clean pants and wrings them out. "Heads up, Loren!" he calls, tossing them to the smith. "Ready for the shirt now... The water's bloody freezing!" Tasso confirms, nodding emphatically. Loren waves back to Kyrsah. And turns to snatch the pants. Kyrsah scans the area looking for someone she knows. Leara comes in from the road to the west. Loren tosses the shirt to Tasso. "The porcine, methinks," replies the mud-sculpture that is Kassima. "Which solves m'problem of what t'get Khari neatly. Speaking of which...." Again her voice raises, this time to shout to the bronzerider, "Don't you still owe me baby-sitting duties, G'har?" Leara hobbles in, making a VTOL-line towards the tug-of-war area to oversee the apprentices adding a few bucketfuls of water from the pond to the already muddy muck. The hems of her skirts are muddy and grass-stained and the tip of her crutch sinks a bit into the moist earth. Aurian laughs, "She'll be dragging the poor thing everywhere..." Tamina shakes her head her gaze almost awed at the amount of mud covering Kassima, "I certainly hope she wasn't wearing anything nice because I think it's ruined now." Kala pauses for a moment, then as if she had suddenly received new insight, turns and moves quickly back in the direction she came from, picking up speed as she moves farther away. Kala goes west, entering the lounge. G'har nods to Kassi, with a small grimace. "Yes, I do," he admits. "Though I think it'd be simpler just with Khari..." Kyrsah walks near the Huge Tree pulling her hair back in a runner tail. After a gesture from Leara, a barker starts to move through the crowd, calling out, "The tug of war is about to begin. Will all contestants please move towards the mudhole. The tug of war is about to begin!" Kyrsah thinks she will just watch this time. Kyrsah sits against the tree and looks into the sky. Naldo walks over to the mudhole. Loren waves to Tasso. "That's me. See you!" A beautiful green dragon flies over head. Kyrsah sits against the tree and looks into the sky. Loren ambles over to the mud hole, too. A small orange bird hops to the ground near Kyrsah. After it chirps a few times, it flies away. Jesica chuckles, "Ohhh, can I be on a team?" Kassima sets her fists on her hips, and retorts, "Only if'n you wish t'be paying back a number of those marks, miladdo! You remember our deal--" But the barker's announcement breaks her off, and she gestures to Aurian. "C'mon, Auri! To the mudhole with us!" G'har grins at the barker, and asks Tamina, with a grin, "You game?" Aurian follows Kassima with a grin, "Allllllright..." Celebanna follows the crowd gong to the mudhole, grinning broadly. Leara paces down the length of rope that is stretched across the mudhole and onto dryish land on either side, making sure that both sides are of the same length. Only when she is done does she start to turn her attention to the participants and in a voice that easily booms because of experience in yelling at apprentices she says, "Please break yourselves up into two evenly-matched teams and pick up one side of the rope when you're ready." Void flits over to Gaudiorth and Falsanath with an irritated chirple. Tamina gives the mudhole a considering look then turns to G'har with a grin and shrug, "I suppose so. Just let me.." She heads over to Gaudiorth, unhooking the bracelet at her wrist and tucking it into a pouch. Maving back toward G'har and the mudhole, "Okay, which team? Kyrsah cant help herself, and joins the others near the mudhole. "Hi! Mind if I join in?" Aurian joins up with Kassima, "Maybe we could get the dragons to join in.." Kassima does pause long enough to check on the things she left with Lyss before heading off to chase porcines before skipping down to the hole, heedless of the mud. It's not as if she can get much dirtier than she already is. "A new test this shall be for the Greenrider Grip of Death." Loren looks at G'har. "You going to play?" he asks. Aurian looks at how clean she still is and sighs, "Kassima promise me we'll win.." Leara blanches as she overhears Aurian and she grips her crutch tightly. "No dragons" is gasped out. She turns a weak smile on the newest arrivals and welcomes them to select a side. G'har nods to Loren, even as he sizes up the teams. "Kassi's is probably our best bet," he murmurs to Tamina. Naldo looks at either team. "Can I join you?" he says. Falsanath warbles very quietly at the Craftmaster's pronouncement, sounding rather disappointed. Kyrsah says "Which team should I go to?" Tasso finishes scrubbing his shirt, and wringing it out, slips it on. It may be wet, but it'll dry quicker because of body heat. He dons his sopping jacket and squelches over to where Loren has his pants. "Thanks," the lad says, nodding to the smith. "I owe you a mug of wine." Loren nods to Tasso. "Sure, but make it stout, ok?" Leara OOCly says, "Istans against the Telgarians? And then let the other folks pick a side as they like?" Tamina grins at G'har, obviously in high spirits then weaves her way to stand with the group gathering on Kassima's side, "Sounds good to me. She did well riding that runner yesterday. Loren joins the Istans. Aurian tugs on her gloves, "Gotta win so I Stay clean.." Kyrsah wonders which side has a lesser number Naldo joins the Telgarians. Celebanna follows Loren carefully, also followed by another Istan girl she seems to have been gabbing with. Kyrsah joins in with the Istans Jesica chuckles and hmmms before heading over to the Telgarian side, since that's where her friends are. Kassima returns with mock-sternness, "You *know* that we wouldn't if'n I tried that one, Auri, m'lass." Bright grins are offered to the assembling teammates, as she fetches gloves from her pocket, shakes mud out of them, and pulls them on over her hands. "Ready t'do some rump-kicking?" she inquires mischievously. "Rumpkicking, Aye ma'am.." Aurian grins. Loren picks up the rope behind Kassima and takes up the slack. Kyrsah opens and tightens her fists getting ready Oocly, Naldo says-Just wondering, who's on what team? Tasso soaked from head to foot but reasonably clean now, Tasso climbs the tree to watch the festivities. No way he's gonna get involved in this one! Tasso finds a place in the tree. Lysseth snorts in disappointment, also. No dragons? But... but... she could've taken the other dragons! She could've! Kassi casts her a droll look, but seems more preoccupied with preparations. Leara pulls a scrap of hide out of her pocket as well as a coalstick and she starts to move to each team, to collect the names and note their positions. The first team she comes to seems to have a few Telgar riders in it. "Names?" Tamina searches around for her gloves at her waist and tugs them on, stretching her fingers into the leather. Kvasith rumbles loudly. Aurian grins, "I'm Aurian.." Naldo says, "Naldo here." Kyrsah says "I am Kyrsah" Kassima reports cheerfully, "Kassima, Craftmaster." Jesica chuckles, "Jesica, Ma'am." she says in response to the request for names. Aurian pinches Kassima as she settles in behind her. Stephon watches all of the people calling out their names, momentarily distracted by Kvasith's rumble. Loren says "Loren, Ma'am" Kvasith snorts, then rests his head on his forefeet. Tamina looks around at the other members of the team then gives Leara her name with a wide grin, "Tamina, ma'am." Jesica grins and picks a spot in the Telgarian line, "Where do you all want me Auri?" Kyrsah toses her long layered bangs from her eyes Aurian gestures to somewhere in line, "Take a spot.. Argothe comes in from the road to the west. Kassima gives a muted yelp and elbows the brownrider behind her, while wrapping her hands around the rope. Yes, this is a suitable medium upon which to use the Grip of Death. "You're doomed, y'know!" she calls to the other side, though it's hard to take offense at such a cheerfully-given taunt. Leara scribbles down Jesica's name before moving over to the group with the couple of Istan riders. "Loren. Right. Tamina. Hmm." G'har adds, with a hint of a grin, "G'har, ma'am." Falsanath, from his spot, warbles once more, and G'har shakes his head. Naldo moves to the back of the line of Telgarians and grips the rope with all the strength and skill of a Fisherman. Kyrsah oopses, and is with the Istans Aurian erfs as she twists the rope about her hand, "Kassima.... watch the elbow.." Chuckling mildly, Leara scratches out Kyrsah's name from one list and adds it to the other. Raising her voice again, she bellows out, "Team 1 has Aurian, Naldo, Kassima, and Jesica. Team 2 is Loren, Tamina, G'har, and Kyrsah. Anyone else?" Celebanna lifts her hands, "Team 2, Celebanna." Kyrsah picks up the rope, clenching it tightly, her eyes glimmering in excitement. Tamina glances over at G'har and shrugs with a grin, "Guess you'll have to be on her team next time." She takes her position at the other side of the rope, grasping it in her hands. Loren pulls the slack out of the rope. Aurian laughs, "Shall we kick some Istan Tail?" G'har nods his agreement to Tamina, looking a little amused. "We'll defend the honor of our Weyr," he says, flashing a grin towards Aurian. Kassima starts to chant under her breath, hands tightening on the rope in antici... (say it!) pation, "For the honor of Slithereth, for the honor of greenriders, for the honor of lunatics everywhere... all the way across the pond and back, Auri!" Leara quickly writes the latest name down and as she tucks the coalstick back into her pocket her dark eyes lift away frim the hide and turn back to the crowd. "If there's no one else, please take your places (OOC note: It would be nice if the folks on each team posed their placement with respect to one another)." Even as she says this she backs away from the mudhole with surprising spryness. Kyrsah smiles and nods to Naldo whom she had just seen early er. Loren looks to G'har. "Want me on the end?" Aurian smirks at G'har, though it changes to a quick grin. She is of course just behind Kassima. "You'll be defending on your rump bronzer.." Naldo grins back at Kyrsah, who looks very familiar. Tamina presents a cheerful smile to the other side as she moves to the front of the rope, "Okay everyone, you better pull hard since I'll be the first to go in." Celebanna glances at the rope, then at G'har, "Where do you want me?" she asks. Jesica stands behind Aurian, waiting and ready for the shouted go to sound. G'har nods to Loren. "Sure," he agrees, moving into position in front of the Smith. Aurian's comment gets only another laugh, and a shake of the head. At Celebanna's question, he says, "Behind Tamina... she's the one in the front." One Herder apprentice that isn't participating in the tug of war can't help but add another bucketful of water to the mudhole before scampering away. The water sloshes for a few seconds before disappearing in the mire. Naldo holds onto the end of the rope on the Telgar side. Stephon watches the tug of war with interest. But not enough interest to let himself get -that- muddy. Loren nods, goes to the end and ties a know int the rope. Celebanna winces at the position assigned, but, more cheerfully takes it, grabbing the rope with a determined look, "eady to go for a mudbath?" she asks slightly nervously of Tamina. Kyrsah holds the rope tightly, second to last on the Istan rope Kassima grins at Tamina, directly opposite from her across the pool. "Oh, we'll pull hard, all right," she assures the Istan, pretending not to understand that the comment wasn't directed towards her side. Kaitra comes into the meadow from the field to the east. Tamina laughs as Celebanna, "No I'm not ready." Raising her voice to answer Kassima, "I think we'll pull harder so don't expect to dry off too quickly." Kyrsah grins myscheviously, hands held tightly on the rope. Loren grasps the rope carefully in a grip that wil not slip and begins to pull in the slack. Kaitra heads down towards the pond from whatever task she was called away to do, still muddy as before. With a wave of greeting to the Craftmaster - never hurts to try, after all - she approaches the tug-of-war field. Digging holes in the soft earth with his boot toes, Loren sets his feet. Tamina takes a grip on the rope and puts one foot in front of the other, preparing to pull. G'har, with a grin to his team-mates and a good-natured raspberry to the Telgari and their fellows, grips the rope tightly, rocking back slightly on his heels. With a smile that can only be described as evil, after all she's not going to be taking a mudbath, Leara lifts her crutch into the air as she positions herself so that she's looking at the exact center of mudhole. But the rag is slightly towards Team 2 so she urges the Istans to slack off a bit. "Kaitra, if you hurry you can join Team 1." Naldo moves his grip on the rope forward slightly, and leans back slightly. He hears Leara and nods. "Yeah, come on Kaitra, we're one short!" Kassima tightens her grip on the rope--if possible--and positions herself for the first attack. "Nyah, nyah!" she yells to the Istans, in what isn't her maturest moment ever. Aurian sticks her tounge out at G'har in a return of the rasberry, she's having fun. Loren lets the rope slip a little allowing the rope to mover towards the Telgari. Tamina loosens her grip on the rope, shifting so the rag can be moved to the center. Kaitra, eagerness showing through the mud streaked across her face, lifts up on the toes of her boots. "Any room for me?" As Leara points out which team, and Naldo voices a greeting, she grins. "Great!" And slips into a vacant place, between Jesica and Naldo. Kyrsah puts a bit more slack on the rope tward the Telgarians G'har releases his grip somewhat, looking like he's having a grand old time, and waits with visible impatience for the signal. Jesica chuckles and concentrates on Leara for now, hands gripping the rope, ready to pull hard at the command to go, 'Hey there Kaitra." "Steady. Steady." Leara's avian-like eyes stare fixedly on the rag as it bounces back and forth, just over the center divider. When it's finally firmly in the middle she cries out, "GO!!" and swings her crutch down. Loren pulls straining with all he got. Tamina tightens her grip and immediately tugs on the rope in an effort to pull the rag to her side and avoid a dunking in the mudpit. Naldo moves back a little to allow room for Kaitra, and once again has to get his grip. He does so, and leans back. He starts at the signal, but certainly doesn't let go. He pulls with all his might, mumbling "packtails, just like reeling in packtails..." Aurian gives a loud yell as the signal is given, she starts to tug backwards hard. Kyrsah pulls with all her might, feet planted. Kaitra barely has her grip tightened on the thick rope when the signal is given, and she /leans/ back as her legs push, heaving on the rope. G'har promptly grips the rope once more, shifting so that one foot is behind the other and tugging, a grunt escaping him without his knowledge. Kassima doesn't waste a moment; she immediately throws all her weight--which is slight, but hey, she's got enough strength and stubbornness to make up for it, surely--into pulling the rope over towards her side. "Your mothers all were watchwhers, and your fathers smelt of boysenberries!" she taunts the opposition, sturdy boot-heels digging into the mud. Jesica yells as she starts pulling back with a firm jerk, pulling with all her might, heels digging in as she leans back with the rest of her team. With feet dug into the ground, trying to gain Traction, Celebanna tries to help with pulling the rope back. Naldo grunts with the effort, and digs his heels into the ground. Tendons sharply stand out on Loren's neck and shoulders as he strains. Kyrsah leans back with all her strength. At the Istans mighty effort, the center rag immediately bounces two feet towards their side before holding steady. But it's still got a long way to go if it's going to reach Team 2's side. Kaitra heaves again, calling out, "Pull! Pull! Pull!" In rhythm with her tugging. "C'mon," pull, "IF we," pull, "work together," pull... Loren takes a halfstep backwards. Tamina starts chanting under her breath, "Pull pull pull. Get that rope." as she digs feet into the dirt and leans back to heave at the rope. Naldo lets out an "AARRGGHH!!" and strains with effort, trying to make up for the lost feet. Kyrsah clenches her teeth, pulling with everything shes got, Kassima gives a frustrated snarl, and hauls back in the rope with a grunt. It's *not* going to get any farther if she has anything to say about it. "Pull!" Grunt. "Pull!" Grunt. She's starting to sound like that porcine from earlier. Celebanna grunts at the effort of yanking the rope, concentrating simply on that and nothing else. A bystander tosses a pebble into the mudhole to test its depth. The pebble immediately disappears from view with squelching noise. Kyrsah holds her position tightly, this sport not unlike tieing off ropes in a storm on a ship. Loren grunts and chants," Pull . . . pull . . . pull . . . " as he put out his ultimate. Aurian continues to pull, using the strength she's developed from dragonriding and firestone throwing, "Come ON!!!" She yells doing her damndest to will the Istans closer to the mud. Jesica acts with Kaitra's shouting, joining in her own shouted "Pul;l, pull pull!" in time with hers. Each shouted word comming with each tug on the rope as she tries to get the rag onto thier side of the pit. G'har can't help but grin as he sees the flag moving towards his team's side, though his teeth are still clenched, so the expression looks more like a grimace. Feet digging into the slick ground, he shifts his hands slightly, hopefully not losing too much purchase on the rope. He, however, does not shout or chant anything. Breathing is enough work, just now. Naldo snarls and strains. The muscles in his neck show clearly, and he leans back even more. The center rag bounces a few more inches towards the Istan side before the tide is turned and it starts to slide back towards Team 1. Loren closes his eyes, and takes another halfstep back. His heels are digging new holes in the turf and then groves as his boot gouge teh earth. Kyrsah pulls the rope, shifting her stance to adjust to its pull, and continues pulling with all her strength behind her. Tamina shouts back at her teammates, "That's it." As it starts to turn however she strains to pull the rope back, fingers slipping a couple inches before she finds purchase again. Naldo takes a step backward and replants his feet. "We're...Doing...It..." he shouts to his team. "Just a.... Little...MORE!" G'har, feet sliding in an effort to prevent the rope, turns slightly to the side, the muscles in his arms straining as he works to bring the flag back to Team 2's side. Kaitra continues to chant, as the members of the Telgar team - shells, the poor apprentice can't get away from the riders of that Weyr - coordinate their efforts, slowly but surely. Her eyes close with the effort of heaving on the rope, legs and arms straining. Kyrsah s eyes narrow as she pulls harder than ever, fighting for her team. Celebanna digs her fingers further into the hemp of the rope, trying harder to gain ground, "Jerk 'em!" she calls out questioningly. Tazek comes in from the road to the west. Kassima holds onto the rope as though it were the arm of someone she's trying to keep from escaping torment; her knuckles indubitably whiten under the gloves and mud. "I will *nay* go in the mud!" she snarls, giving her next effort a little extra *oomph*. We'll just see who can out-stubborn whom! Careful application of the boot-heels keeps them from skidding by accident, hopefully, with the further intent to keep herself from being dragged. "Pull! Pull like you've never pulled a'fore! Pull as though there were a giant crate of wineskins on the other end, all for you!" Oookay. Naldo closes his eyes with effort as he pulls the end of Team 1's side of the rope. "Packtails..." he mutters. "Just reeling in packtails..." Dragon> Lysseth senses that Falsanath rumbles his amusement. << My rider says that yours sounds like a feline that has been tormented. He also says that she's already muddy, so what does it matter if she gets -more- muddy? >> Jesica keeps up the shouted rythmn, each shout still accompanied by a hard tug, "As a team folks, Pull, Pull Pull!" she says still chanting with Kaitra as her mucsles strain, turns and turns of working with half wild runners and heavy feed sacks and hay giving her muscles that she puts to good use in the tug of war, putting her all into getting the rope over to Team 1's side. Loren face turns red as his boots cut ruts in the soft dirt. He continues to try stepping back, again and again. Kyrsah pulled as if her life depended on it. Tazek blinks as he wanders up and sees the Tug-o-war to end all tug-o-wars. "Uh.." he says, looking tos ee end of the rope has some people he knows, and therefore can cheer for. The rope creaks from the strain but it continues to slide seemingly inexorably towards Team 1, pulling the Istans after it. Lysseth> Falsanath senses that Lysseth has to laugh at that, traitorous or no. << I had thought she sounded more like the porcine! She is very determined to win, my rider. I think it must come with riding green. >> After all... greenriders *always* win. Aurian steps back as she pulls, she yells loudly. "Come on...we've got them..." She steps back again with a grunting grin. Tamina blows a strand of hair out of her eyes as she takes Celebanna's suggestion and gives the rope a jerk, eyes widening as she is forced closer to the mud, "Shards, pull that rope!" Loren still steps back, little hills of dirt ahead of his feet. Kyrsah pulls with all of her might on the slithe rope "Noooo you dont!" Naldo grins widely as he takes another couple of steps back. "Yes!" he shouts. "Pull harder. Harder!" Celebanna says "Erk! No! No, you can't!" she calls out, increasing her efforts as she and Tamina get yanked towards the mud hole, "C'mon, let's show 'em..." G'har lets out a strangled yelp of protest, face flushed red with his efforts. And yet, he tries even harder, despite the fact that his hands are now slippery, and his stance uncertain. "Pull," he calls. Kaitra's only awareness of the movement of the rope is through her feet, which step back to take up the slack. Heave! Heave! Heave! Her eyes remain closed, her arms and legs begin to quiver with the effort. Tazek spies Naldo and starts cheering wildly for Team 1. "Go Naldo!! Woo-hoo!" Encouraged? Kassi? Nahhhh. She won't be content until the whole bleeding lot of the opposition is eating mud. "Giant... crate... of Benden wine," she grunts to urge on her team. "Good vintage. Pull!" *This* porcine isn't that fond of mudbaths, thanks. Jesica pulls, stepping back with each tug still accompianed by a shouted "Pull!" and she continues to put her full body behind each movement, like she was trying to get a wild runner to learn to walk on a lead. Loren hands are knotting as his grip tightens, he strains and pulls, sweat breaking out on his red face. Th eveins in his neck stand out with the effort. Loren takes a halfstep backwards. Naldohears his name being called, but doesnt let take any effort off of pulling the rope. "Shut...Up Tazek." he mutters. "You're..AARRGGHH!..Distracting me." Celebanna grunting again as things seemnot to go well, "Lean back into, push back with the leg, C'mon, we gotta win 'er..." Kyrsah holds the rope so tightly her hands begin to burn, pulling back with everything shes got. The center rag is now five feet over onto Team 1's side but it's got another ten to fifteen feet to go before they'll will. Of course, this means that Tamina is being pulled nearly into the mud. Tazek shakes his head at that, and continues to cheer Naldo and his end of the rope on. "No I"m not," he calls to his fellow Bitran. "Come on, you can do it!!" Loren takes another halfstep but the dirt isn't holding. Devyn walks up and watches the tug of war, note still in hand Naldo growls and puts his all into it. He groans with effort, and pulls backwards. Tamina tries to dig the toes of her boots into the dirt as she comes close to the edge hoping it'll slow her progress, "Oh no, I'm going to go in." She puts all her effort into giving the rope a desperate tug. Kassima chants her good-luck mantra as she continues to pull, never mind that her arms are probably aching and her poor, battered legs and rear end are *not* happy with her for the extra stress she's putting on them. "Slith-er-eth... Slith-er-eth... we can *do* it, people! Pull!" Inexorably, she continues her attempts to moonwalk, flashing Tamina a brief and wicked grin as the rider approaches the mud. That grin is rather white when compared to the rest of her. Aurian tugs and tugs, she keeps working her way backwards, "Please please Faranth let us pull them in.." Kyrsahs boots dig into the ground as she fights with the rope G'har doesn't even notice Tamina's impending doom, as he's too busy trying to juggle tugging and not falling and the occasional yell of "Pull!". Like his teammates don't know to pull. Feet digging into the ground, he gives a relatively large heave. Loren pulls with his grip tightening more and more. The rope hasn't slipped an inch in his smith hands! Kyrsah glances at the Bitrans, but dosnt allow them to affect her consentration. Jesica keeps hauling back, "Put your backs into it, Pull, pull, pull!" she shouts, keeping up the now established rythmn of shout accompanied pulls. Her face is turning red from effort and she's panting with the strain but she doesn't quit, keeping on and on, tugging with all her weight and heart as she tries to get the rag over to Team 1's side of the pit completely. Naldo grunts and groans, but finds a way to pull even HARDER. He gasps with effort. Kaitra's legs bend rhythmically with the chanting, her arms tugging as she straightens, using every muscle in her body it seems, to the utmost effort, into hauling on that rope. She's still chanting, though through clenched teeth 'Pull' sounds a bit odd. Loren legs are bent thigh muscles bulging in response to the stress. Celebanna blinks at the fast aproaching mud, "Oh shards, oh Faranth, Let's save Tamina, c'mon guys! Pull!" That extra effort from Team 1 seems to be just enough to drag Tamina into the mire which is easily above her knees. Now she might just come out of it without too much of a mess if she lets go of the rope. But if she lets it drag her... Feet plowing the ground, Loren pulls, with all he has. Kyrsahs arm muscles show quite well for a woman as she pulls with all of her weight, her sleeveless shirt geting quite a bit sweaty now. Tazek starts laughing, "That's it!!" he hollers, "You're doing it! Just a little bit more!!" He whoops as one of the Istans gets dragged into the mud, "There ya go! Just a little more!" Kassima, in fact, throws her weight against the rope again, the better to drag the rider in. Muwahahaha. Her death-grip on the rope maintained, she now tries to encourage her legs *not* to give way, thank you. "Give it all you've got! Go for the glory! Win one for the G'pper!" Pull, pull, pull, she certainly does--now, does she help to drag, drag, drag, too? Here's hoping! Naldo leans back HARD and pulls with all his Fishermans might. He takes a step back, and another. "Come ON!" he mutters to himself. Pull, Pull, PULL! "Oh for a bit of solid earth!" Loren mutters as he continues pulling and plowing. Tamina falls over the edge with a startled yell not letting go in time and getting dragged into the glop. Ending up on her hands and knees, Tamina just blinks in shock at the sudden coldness of water and dirt. Pull. Yes Aurian pulls, and yells lots, "HEAVE HO..." She grins as she tugs. G'har, at the mention of saving Tamina, looks up enough to see the bluerider's fate. With a shake of his head, he pauses for just a moment in his pulling, then gives a long, hard tug. Stephon watches with tense anxiety, watching the tug-o-war progress. The sounds of mud splooshing around someone reminds Kaitra to open her eyes, and with a triumphant grin the apprentice puts renewed strength into her pulling. Loren jerks in time with G'har. Devyn smiles watching Loren Kyrsah pulls in sync with the others. R'val watches the Telgar pullers, smiling. Tazek jumps up and down with excitement, nearly knocking over a Smithcrafter standing near with his enthusiasm. "Yes!! Go, go go! Or drag drag!" Apparently seeing what can happen when you end up in the mud is enough to send Team 2 into a flurry of pulling and tugging. That and a badly-timed stumble from someone in Team 1 sends the rope soaring back towards Team 2's side and Kassima towards the mud. Jesica doesn't dare to quit just because one is in the mud, if anything her shouting gets louder, and even more strained sounding as she keeps up the rythmn. Some of her shouts of "Pull, Pull, Pull!" get lost in the fight for breath, but her hard, full body tugging never ceaces in the fight to drag all of Team 2 into the mud. Naldo notes Kaitra's extra strength, and grins. He pulls harder as well. "Tug...Tug...Tug..." he says to himself. "Do it... TUG!" Loren steps back feet sliding. The furrows deepening with each step! Kyrsah shouts "Come on!" and pulls even harder on the slack of the rope. "Whoa!" Naldo says and momentarily loses his footing. He soon regains it, though, and pulls with all his might. "Go Team one...GO!" Tamina's expression holds plenty of digust as she tries unsuccessfully to clear some of the mud from her face. Her head pops up and she ducks under the rope to make for the side of the pit. Tazek laughs suddenly as the heaves of Team 2 pull the rag in the opposite direction. "No, not push Naldo, PULL!" G'har allows himself a grin as the rope's shifting allows him to take several steps backwards. "Keep it up," he exhorts. Practicing what he preaches, he maintains his effort. Celebanna sighs with relief, for now, saved, and give it her all, joining the extra effort with more fervor. Loren notices the holes are so deep he can finally pull without slipping! With a shout he pulls with glee! Aurian ahhs as she feels herself going forward, "Comeon comeon comeon......!" Kaitra's extra pulling was for naught, as it seems that perhaps her hesitation in opening her eyes might've contributed to Kassi now being even more covered in mud. Now - here's the temptation. To contribute to yet another Telgar rider winding up face-first in mud? Or to try to help the team win? Apparently, there is some hope yet for the apprentice, as she strains again and again to pull the rope back. Loren takes a step back and another! "Auuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!" That would be Kassi, very vocally protesting her fate as she starts to zoom towards the mud with the greatest of ease. "Pull back! Pull back! Pull back! Pull back! My rear end can't take much more falling!" she yelps, trying desperately to backpedal enough to save herself from the mud pit. Not that it'll probably work, and her next yell is, "There's *mud* in my boots, eww! *Pull*, or I'll put pink lace on you all!" Kyrsah barely smiles as she continues with the rope, determined to win. Loren times his pulls with G'har for maximum effect! G'har manages not to cackle as he catches Kassi's comment. Naturally, he pulls quite hard on the rope. He, after all, is not a fan of pink lace. Aurian yells at Kassima, "You will not be putting pink lace on me!!!" She tugs harder and pulls again. Naldo growls. "Not this time..." he mutters and HEAVES. He takes short, shallow, gasping breaths and pulls and pulls and pulls. "Gotta... Pull... Harder!" he says. Determination wins over threats and protests and Team 2 pulls Kassima into the mud before the rope once more holds steady. Loren takes another step back and is nearly lying down! Kyrsah leans farther and farther pulling the rope as hard as she can tward team 2's victory. Tazek calls, "Come on Naldo, pull! You'd look rotten in pink...Uh-oh!" and bursts into laughter as another rider is dunked in the mud, even if she's on Team 1. Naldo AARRGGHH's. "Heave!" he says, "Heave! Heave!" Loren grins as he gets set for another tug. Then strains with all his might! G'har lets out a gleeful whoop as Kassi lands in the mud, attempting to look and tug at the same time. That isn't quite as effective, though, and he bobbles his footing a moment before getting his priorities set. Kassi's already in the mud. He doesn't want to share her fate. Jesica ewwws! at Kassi's shouts and she hauls back, jerking with her whole body as she fights to pull kassi back from the brink of the pit. Her shouts get more frantic as she tugs, panting getting more pronouced as her face turns bright red with the strain, "Pull you lot or they'll think we're Weaklings! Haul back if you want to stay clean!" Aurian yellls, "Come on lets get back pull back.." She tugs harder and harder. Kyrsah clenches her teeth "We can make it!!" she shouts to her team Loren takes a half step back still nearly horizontal in his efforts. With a splash, a splorp, and a glup, Kassi winds up rump-first in the mud puddle, going under for a moment before a lot of very frantic kicking and scrabbling gets her back to the surface. She spits out a long stream of mud and a longer stream of invective, lunging back towards the shore, *away* from the pit of Faranth-only-knows-what mud. "And there'll be pink lace for you all, too, if you dare win!" she shouts to the other team. Naldo digs into the ground with his steel tipped boots. "GO!" he shouts. Stay clean? Kaitra's not been clean since the porcine chase earlier. But she does heave-ho, straining with each tug, starting again to call out, "Pull! Pull! Pull!" again and again. Like a chicken with its head cut off, the center rag on the rope zips from side to side indecisively. After a minute's further tugging it's on Team 1's side and now it's Celebanna that is facing a very dirty fate. Kiyana limps in, watching quietly from the Lounge doorway. It's obvious the apprentice doesn't intend to stay long, merely watch. Tamina ducks away being splashed with mud from Kassima's fall then grins at the other rider, unable to control loud laughter. She leans over to toss her hair back, still giggling madly at Kassima's fate. Loren sees the loss of an opponent and redoubles his efforts trying to take another step back. Kyrsah almost has a chance to smile, but dosnt allow herself to waste any energy at all Celebanna yipes as she bplunges into the muddy water, "Oh sells, that cold." worse, she's not let go, and sso continues to be dragged. "Pink lace! Transparent sisal! Ribbons and bows and frills and girly things!" Kassi continues to shout, doing her best to help her team by threats now that she's met her doom. "And Emasculation for all the men!" Loren steps and steps again, but his boots are sliding in the furrows again! G'har, just behind Celebanna, makes a noise of protest as his team's turn to approach the mud returns. He makes a valiant attempt to ignore Kassi, but that e-word is just too much to ignore. Naldo shrieks and redoubles his effort. "NEVER!" he shouts. Player after player gets picked off but neither team seems to have the upper hand. When one of the members of Team 1 lets go of the rope for a second to try and get a better grip, the center rag makes a dash for Team 2's side, pulling Aurian with it towards the mire. Tazek can't stop a wince at that particular threat, "Ouch.. You guys better pull. And pull hard," he calls his advice from the nice, safe, dry sidelines of the tug o war. Sweat is pouring off Loren's face and dark patches are showing under his arms. Tamina finally gets herself under control for the most part, only a few giggles escaping then gives Celebanna an almost sympathetic look. Jesica hauls back even harder, "Come on ladies, Feel the burn!" she shouts agaon, "Pull Naldo, Pull!" Comes her voice, she's going to be hoarse after all this shouting, but each shout is still accompanied by a full body tug, all her weight put behind each jerk and she sets her heels of her boots into the ground with each hard step back, "PULL!" Kyrsah cant help but giggle by Kassis threats t, but continues pulling as hard as she can away from the mud Kaitra barely manages to resist giggling, as it's their turn to be threatened with pink lace. Worked for the runners in the bronco event, worked on the gaggle of geese, why not on a whole team of tuggers? Again and again, she tugs, heaving on that thick rope, chanting away. Loren steps backwards as fast as he can trying not to fall in the sudden slack! There is a loud squeal as Aurian finds herself tugged into the mud... she seems to land somewhere on Kassima. The mire and the muck is less than pleasant. G'har backpedals a few paces, a quick grin crossing his face. He doesn't say anything, now, but instead maintains his tugging and yanking and pulling and general exerting of effort. Celebanna seems to have let go before the rope is yanked back to her side, grimacing, "Aha! Welcome to it." she says beamingly to Aurian. "I AM!" he shouts and HEAVES. "AARRGGHH!" Loren somehow manages to keep his footing and takes up the strain again! Kyrsah cheers on to her team as she pulls harder and harder on the rope. Aurian pushes her now mudstricken hair back out of her eyes, "Uggggggghhh" "And then I'll make you all Femalemen of Pern, just like Rivalla and Martina and Sandrina and Cavadanna and Alexia and Vahrynna and Keaganna and--ulp!" No, that last isn't a femaleman; it's Kassi's reaction to getting landed on by a brownrider, which drives her down below the mud's surface again. A torrent of bubbles rushes to the surface... Kassi's under-mud yelps for Aurian to let her up, no doubt. Fear of Kassima seems to have worked its wonders on Team 1 and the rope not only stops its run towards Team 2's side but it moves inch after inch after inch towards Team 1's side. Nothing seems to stop it now. Nothing. Team 2 appears to be facing an inevitable trip into the mud. "It's good for your pores," someone on the sidelines comments between guffaws. Krystyna comes in from the road to the west. Stephon watches the tug of war, watching more people pile up in the mud on the losing team. Loren steps another halfstep back, his shirt arms darkening with sweat. But his feet are slipping againa! Tazek starts laughing at that snide little comment, "Better their pores than mine," he says with a grin. "Come on, Naldo! One more heave! Or maybe two!" Kaitra's feet work backwards, slowly, a thumbsbreadth at a time, but she continues to pull with all her might. Aurian shifts off Kassima and tugs her greenriding counterpart up, "Kassima, are y' allright??" G'har moves towards the mud with the rope, gritting and protesting all the way. "I don't care," he calls to the sidelines, "About my -pores-." He digs his heels into the ground, but to no avail. Naldo moves one foot back, bending his knee. He can feel the strain on his arms, but he doesnt care Kyrsah shouts "Shards as she sees the mud getting closer. Loren keeps trying to dig in. He never lets up in the strain. Tamina starts laughing again as Aurian lands on the other Telgar rider, reaching up to wipe mud out of her eyes. Tazek sees Krystyna and waves her over, "Hey! Naldo's team is gonna win!" Loren gives another tug and pulls harder! Gaudiorth bugles a loud greeting to one of Ista's golds before turning to watch the mudpit and his rider again. Naldo snarls and HEAVES. He grunts and HEAVES again. "AARRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHhHHHHHHH!" he yells with the effort. Jesica keeps hauling with all her weight, not caring that her face is red and her hair is damp with sweat, "Pull... Pull...PULL!" she shouts, though her voice is starting to crack when her panting and jerks don't strangle the sound into a grunted word rather than a shout. She jerks again, hands in leather gloves holding tight to the rope as she keeps trying to haul the rag over to the side of team 1, all her body put into the hard tugging. When Kassi finally gets back up, she spits out mud again, aimed in Team Two's direction... okay, so they're *way* too far away for this to be effective, but it's the thought that counts. "I think there must've been a fish in that pond water, and it must've gone down m'throat!" she complains, probably exaggeratedly. "Ugh! Hey, look, we're winning! Just remember," she yells up to her teammates, "nay pink lace *or* Tillek Swill *or* one-hundred percent genuine wherry suits will be inflicted on you if'n we win!" Krystyna grins and walks over to Naldo's team. She finds an opening and grabs the rope digging in her heels. "I'm gonna pay for this in the morning!" Loren mutters as he keeps up the tension. Kyrsah stubbornly refuses to release the rope despite the mud From the sky above you, Phediath bugles brightly as she arrives, announcing her presence with on a loud and soprano note, then begins to spiral down toward the landing field. The center rag continues to inch its way towards Team 1's side. Although it's progress is slow it is also steady and it never once stops moving. Streaks of mud drip down Aurians face as she blinks at Kassima, "Amazing you go down swearing you come back up swearing.." Kvasith bugles a brassy greeting to the arriving gold. Phediath wings down from the sky above. Loren is allmost running backwards but slipping inexorably towards the mudhole. "Aye, well," Kassi notes glibly, wiping md from her eyes, "I'm foul-mouthed, both figuratively and literally." Turning towards Team Two, she yells towards the remaining men over there, "May a loose-willed wench deny you when you would seek her ease, you animal food-trough wipers!" Krystyna goes over to where Tazek is as she can't join. Kaitra puts all her energy into heaving on the rope rhythmically, though she does spare a moment for the suprise of being joined in the middle of the game. A "Huh?" interrupts her shouts of "Pull!" but she doesn't stop. His grip never slipping Loen steadfastly pulls and steps back, feet digging gouges in teh soft dirt. G'har looks up for just a moment at Phediath's arrival, and that is his downfall. That moment's attention diversion comes at exactly the wrong moment, and he ends up tumbling right into the mud pit, along with the others. How graceful. Naldo has no idea how many people are still in the tug-of-war, but there's still tugging on the other side, so he tugs as well. Tazek blinks at the Telgari greenrider's curse, and starts laughing even harder. "The attire for the dance later will be interesting, won't it?" he comments, and doubles over with laughter as more of Team 2 takes a mudbath. Krystyna sits by Tazek. "Guess I got here too late. But watchings fun." Tamina grins as G'har joins everyone in the pit calling toward him, "Welcome to the party! What took you so long to get here?" Kreolin comes into the meadow from the field to the east. Loren nods at the inevitable and still pulls as he slides towards the pit. Tazek grins, nodding at Krystyna. "Yep." Kassima howls with glee as G'har winds up face-first in the mud, too, and scoops up a nice, loose glop of it to fling at him with uncanny accuracy when he resurfaces. "Take that, malerider! Welcome to the mudbath!" Naldo shouts to Tazek as he strains, "I'm not letting my new clothes get covered with mud, no matter what!" Kyrsah pulls in frustration as she nears the mud very closely now. Jesica keeps hauling back as another person in team 2 goies down and she keeps up that jerking tug for team 1 "PULL... PULL... PULL!" she yells again, body hopping back from the way she's jerking on the rope. Phediath warbles softly to a lounging blue, wings fluttering and folding against her body as she settles herself to the ground. Madelynda makes quick business of unbuckling herself as she gazes around, a small half-smile appearing on her lips as she watches the people in the mud pit, and easily dismounts. Madelynda swings a leg over her lifemate's neck and, using each loop on the straps to slow her descent, carefully slides down the queen's shoulder to land safely on the ground. G'har emerges from the mud to end up with a faceful of... well, more mud. He's a singularly muddy individual. "Sorry, Tamina," he mumbles, attempting to wipe the grit from his face. His grin is very white, compared to the muck. "I'll try to be faster next time." He wrinkles his nose at Kassi, but who can tell, under all that mud? Loren is almost funny as his feet plow the dirt... but he never lets up the pull. Kyrsah sends out one last yelp as the rope hurrls her into the mud. Krystyna yells "Go Naldo. Pull hard." Kreolingiggles as her freind's trown into the mud. Kaitra's legs bend and flex, again and again, her arms keeping tightly bent, hands gripping the rope. She'll not stop till it's over. Jesica, Kaitra, and Naldo (at the end) are still pulling for Team 1 while Kyrsah and Loren (as the anchor) are still trying to save Team 2. But the rope continues towards Team 1's side and now it's only five feet from victory. Kyrsah resurfaces, drenched in mud she begins giggling, noticing she is still holding onto the rope. Terra comes out of the Woodsmiths' Gather Tent. Naldo is already pulling, but he strains and tries to pull more. His grunts and groans with effort sound a lot like the pig he was wrestling earlier. Aurian laughs and joins Kassima in pelting G'har with mud, she giggles. Tazek lifts his head, grinning so much his face aches. He spots gold and his gaze goes up..then up.. and.. Big dragon. He waves cheerfully at the goldrider and her dragon, before turning to cheer Team 1 on some more. "Come on!! Just a few more feet!" Kassima just grins, whitely and wickedly, at G'har before turning to urge on her team. "This mud tastes like raw sewage! Pull, lest you get mouthfuls of it too!" Yeah, that should help.... Loren's feet finally find hard ground ... right at the lip of the pit! One last jerk by Team 1 and he sails in an arc to land in the deepest part! Tamina watches the tugging with a silly grin then says mournfully to her teammates, "Looks like we're going to lose. Was there a prize?" Kyrsah finally lets go and trys to get the mud from her eyes but in the prosess makes it much worse Leara thrusts her crutch into the air. "We have a winner! Team 1!!" Lyxia comes in from the road to the west. Krystyna giggles as she watches her friend plunge into the mud. Kreolinwaves to her freind. "Hey, Kyrsah! Sorry I'm late. Come on, get out of that muck and come join me! Kyrsah laughs and joins in pelting her team wh mud Jesica shouts some more and keeps pulling back, tiring yess, but never giving up despite the mud spattering her clothing and sweat making her hair a dark copper mess on her head. Yer voice is nearly gone now but she still drags out a cracked "PULL...PULL...PULL!" with every jerk of the rope as She, Kaitra and Naldo continue to heave back with each shout. Celebanna giggles slightly, "Well, we lost." she welcomes Loren Cheerfully to the mud. Naldo flies backward as all his effort pays off, but he forgets to stop pulling! Loren submerges completely then surfaces with a squelching noise as he tries to get his breath. G'har yelps as the second Telgari throws mud at him. "Hey," he protests. "-That- doesn't work. Quit!" And he retaliates, with a grin. He shakes his head to Tamina. "I haven't a clue." Kyrsah says "Hey Kreolin!" Krystyna waves to Lyxia "Come on over here Lyx." Tazek cheers maniacally for Team 1, "Woohoo!! Youw on!!" Madelynda continues to grin as she watches from her position--luckily, or perhaps intentionally, a safe distance away from the flying mud. Her ankles cross as she leans against her lifemate, arms folding across her torso. A brief laugh escapes her at the announcement of the winning team, and she shakes her head. Kyrsah says "Wanna come in Kreo?" she smiles "the muds just fine!" Kaitra doesn't want to know how the greenrider knows what raw sewage tastes like, but she doesn't wish to find out what the mud tastes like, either. So she keeps pulling, until the contest is declared over, when the girl collapses to the ground. "ughghghgh." Naldo rolls over and stands up. He's grinning widely. "We won?" he says. "We won!" Kreolinholds a hand out to Kyrsah to help her friend out of the mud. Hoever, she slips and tumbles down into the mud, too. Kassima abruptly stops yelling and cursing to cheer instead, thrusting one mud-covered fist in the air in a symbol of victory. "Woooooo! We kicked Istan rump! All *right*! Woo! Woo! Woo!" It's a good thing she's not on solid ground, or now she'd be so happy, she'd do the Dance of Joy. Kyrsah grins widly as she balls up a bit of mud and beams Naldo with it! Falsanath rumbles a pleasant greeting to Phediath, even as he warbles his amusement at his poor, mud-covered rider. Loren scrapes the mud from his eyes and then relaxes in the coolness of the mud wallow. "You know this isn't half bad!" Tamina starts the rather muddy progress toward the edge of the pit, wrinkling her nose as her feet squish in her boots and groaning good naturedly, "I'm going to be tasting mud for days now." As the apprentices haul out the prizes and set them on the ground in front of her, Leara calls out, "The prize for Team 1 is a barrel of the best Telgar beer and a large bag of soapsand. Team 2 just gets a large bag of soapsand." Being no fool, the woman wisely backs away from the area after making this pronouncement. Stephon applauds, hands clapping together. He then looks around for something else to go, wishing to avoid the mud. Kyrsah splashes Kreo with some mud, laughing as her friend fell in Kreolingiggles. Mud fight! She gathers up a clump of mud and throws Kyrsah with it. Aurian leans against Kassima as she laughs, "Beer and soapsand... tis a good day.." Kyrsah begins tossing mud at anyone in throwing distance. G'har carefully doesn't point out that Kassi never kicked his rump, lest the remedy that. At Leara's announcement, he shakes his head rather ruefully, attempting to struggle out of the pit. "Well. It's apt, at least." Celebanna quickly ducks out of the mud-fit pool, Wandering off. Naldo gasps as mud covers his face. He turns to see who it was, and grins. He doesn't retaliate, but goes over to Tazek and Krystyna and sits down next to them. He wipes some mud off is face and throws it at Tazek. Tazek wisely steps back a bit, as the mud-slinging starts. He moves over closer to Madelynda. Surely no one would be stupid enough to hit a goldrider. Lyxia goes and stands by Krystyna. "I shouldn't stay long. I only left because I was wondering..." Suddenly she spots what she was looking for. "I found a puppy in the tent and I followed him when he came out here." Loren steps slowly after Celebanna. Argothe walks over near the mud pit, "Hey Loren, having a nice swim", he says with a laugh Kaitra's moment of rest doesn't last long, as she's called with a troupe of apprentices to assist elsewhere. Kyrsah laughs as she trys dunking Kreos back into the mud Krystyna grins "Congratulations Naldo." She looks up. "Hi Lyx." Tamina ducks away from suddenly flying mud, crawling out of the pit rather ungracefully and standing on hard ground again with her hands out to her sides allowing herself to just drip with a pathetic expression on her face. Krystyna smiles at Lyxia "So you are manning the tent right now?" Kreolintakes Kyrsah y the shoulders, and pushes her totally into the mud. Then she lays back, relaxing. Loren nods his head, "Not bad! Come on in and enjoy, Argothe!" One of Madelynda's brows arches as Kassima's cheer reaches her ears, but the goldrider continues to smile with obvious amusement. "There's always a next time, greenrider," she calls to the Telgari, her challenge perhaps lost in all the general noise. Her eyes flicker to Tazek as he steps obliquely near, and she flashes him a small smile. Kaitra goes west, entering the lounge. Jesica pants and drops to the ground, finally letting go of the rope after stagging back, 'We won?" she says in a grating voice, too much shouting on her part during the tug-of-war. Kyrsah gasps, and laughs at the follies of the mud pool. Lyxia nods, "Yes. Just on a short break." Loren steps onto dry ground and heads for the pond, taking the soapsand with him. Torinth wings down from the sky above. Naldo laughs and nods to Jesica. "Yes, we won." M'kla climbs down from Torinth's neck. Kyrsah exits the mud pool slowly Tazek yelps and ducks the flying wad of mud. "Hey!" he says in protest. "I just got cleaned up from mucking the stables!" M'kla lands the dragon a good pace off from the crowds, and leans against her green side. G'har the walking mudman offers Madelynda a rueful grin. He, at least, caught her challenge. "Next time," he says, rubbing the mud from his hands so he can peer at them, "Someone else gets to represent Ista." Naldo says "Oh? Well I just got new clothes for the upcoming Gather! You wouldn't want to mess them up, would you?" Krystyna looks at Naldo and Tazek "This is my friend Lyxia. Lyxia this is Naldo and Tazek from Bitra." As the mud starts to fly, Leara ducks her head down and limphobbles quickly back towards the road. She manages to pick up the pace a bit more as one clump of goop splats on the ground nearby. Leara heads southwest towards the road. Kyrsah still giggling, approaches Naldo. Kassima grins insouciantly up at the goldrider. "Always next time t'*try*," she agrees amiably. "Beer and cleanliness! I can live with this, aye, I can. Help me up out of here, would you, Auri? I'm nay certain m'legs are up to the task." Lyxia smiles, "Hello." Naldogrins at Lyxia. "Pleased to meet you." he says. Tamina walks slowly toward the clear water to wash, squishing noises accompanying every step. She ignores the flying mud with a grin, "Can't get any dirtier." Lysseth> Falsanath senses that Lysseth, having dutifully observed this entire spectacle, makes but one comment: << I am very, very glad I am not a human, aren't you? >> Tazek lifts his hands, "Hey, I had nothing to do with your being in the tug-o-war." He bows slightly to Madelynda, grinning cheerfully. "Welcome to the funny farm." Kyrsah offering a very muddy hand to him she smiles "Good fight, Im Kyrsah, I saw you earlyer." Naldo turns to the extremely muddy Kyrsah. He reluctantly takes her hand. "Ah yes," he says, "Though I hardly recognize you now..." Krystyna looks up "Why don't you sit down Lyx. Take a long break from the tent." Steam begins to rise from the bathing nook as Loren prepares a warm bath. Kyrsah smiles "I see you are from Bitra, I am a soon to be resident there." Madelynda grins wide at G'har's declaration, and she gives the bronzerider a once-over, eyes widening at his appearance, and she giggles unceremoniously. "Aye, I can imagine that you'd desire that," she calls to the bronzerider in answer; eyes moving to Tamina, she laughs outright and says, "'Tis true, I'd imagine." Gaze landing on Tazek as he speaks, she gives him a formal nod and jovial grin. "I don't know whether to thank you for that welcome, or not." Jesica chuckles and grins as she looks at Aurian and Kassi, "I tried to keep you out of the mud." she says with a shake of her head, the red slowly fading to her normal complexion as she's no longer straining to haul a rope back. Naldo's brow raises. "Oh? Good for you." Krystyna sees R'val and waves hello. Kyrsah says "Im from starsmiths." G'har grins rather roguishly at Madelynda, then heads over to join Tamina in de-mudding himself. "Next time," he murmurs, "We need to get Lal in on the rope-tugging." Lyxia grins and sits down. "I don't want to take too long of a break. Right now I'm the only person on tent duty." "Oh, I believe you," Kassi assures Jesica as she scrabbles at the mud-pit's rim. Dignified, she isn't. "Just as well 'twas in the lead--'twas already filthy! That soapsand sounds *wonderful* right now. Augh." Stephon takes the opportunity, with all the adults distracted, to get a little closer to the dragons and get a good look at them. But not too close. Krystyna looks at Lyxia and grins "All work and no play makes for a dull WoodSmith." NaldoAhhs. "I'm a fishman myself. So do you think you'll be joining us in time for the Spring Gather?" Aurian helps drag Kassima out of the mud, "What a messs.. this jacket will never be the same.." Tazek laughs, nodding his agreement. "I can definitely understand that. Sorry about moving closer to you during the mudfight, but.." he shrugs giving an impish grin, "Better safe than muddy." He turns to Naldo, and pointing, suggests, "Might I advise you to dunk some of the mud off in the pond? You *might* be dry by the time the dancing begins." R'val smiles, "Krystyna, hey." Kyrsah says "Hopefully, Ill be there anyway" she smiles "I really like it there." Tamina grins Madelynda's way then splashes into the water clothes and all, holding her nose before she dunks her head under. Lyxia grins at Krystyna, "I learned that the hard way." Naldo laughs. "I've just got a little on my face." He wipes it off with a handkerchief that he produced from his pocket. Krystyna laughs "Yes you missed the South Boll gather that way. Now don't go missing the Bitra gather like that Lyx." Kyrsah grins "Exscuse me for a moment." with that she gets a very fast running start and dives into the pond. Kassima gets up to relatively dry land with Aurian's help, and proceeds to scramble to her feet, letting some of the muck slough and drip off of her for a few moments. "I hope that Simian was telling it true about good leathers being resistant t'*whatever* you might do to 'em," she says ruefully, beginning to unfasten the over-jacket. "Methinks 'twill just dip in the pond with the shirt and slacks still on... they need cleaning nigh as bad as I do." Madelynda shakes her head at G'har as she continues to smile, her body shrinking gracefully away from a mud-covered competitor who walks just a bit too close for comfort, then looks over to Tazek with a wry grin. "Better safe than muddy, indeed," she answers softly, her eyes darting around once more to make sure that she's out of mud's way. G'har joins the splashing in the pond, and transforms from mud man to... well, wet and still somewhat muddy man. It's a pond. He can't do all that much with it. Lyxia smiles, "And miss a chance to visit you? I really must see your new home... Otherwise if I ever went to Bitra, I'd probably get lost." Tamina surfaces after a moment, the water turning muddy around her then scrubs at her face with her hands her tone a little dismayed, "How am I going to dance when I'm all wet?" Tazek gives Madelynda a cheerful wave and moves away from her and over to his friend Naldo. "That was a great tug-o-war, I wish I'd gotten finished with my duties earlier so I could have joined you." Stephon grins, looks around once at all the people, then runs inside. Kyrsah resurfaces and begins to swim and play in the water with the others, rinsing off the mud in the process , her hair returns to its normal red/brown shade Krystyna smiles "And a chance to visit without going AWOL Lyx. That is always a good thing. We got into to much trouble the other way." Stephon follows his nose towards the kitchens. Naldo nods. "It was a lot of fun, although I feel like my arms are going to fall apart any time now." Tazek smirks. "I'm sure I can dig up some horse liniment to help the ache some..though you wont' smell any better if I do." Jesica turns and salutes the Gold rider, "Evening Ma'am, sorry for not saluting when you first got here, but my hands wer a bit full. Fort's duties to Ista." she says with a shy grin as she works on getting her gloves off now, finally. Lyxia grins, "We? Remember, I was never caught." Kassima finishes pulling off over-jacket, boots, gloves, and socks; the tunic and slacks do indeed go into the water with her, some of the brown leeching away to reveal the black beneath. "Brrrr!" she shivers, scrubbing at the brown streaks on her face. "The mud was almost a more pleasant bath; this is freezing! Hey... that *is* a thought." She brightens, and she confides to Aurian, "What a perfect excuse for staying solely on the sidelines during the dancing!" Kyrsah exits the pond ringing her hair out. G'har submerges for a moment, returning with a pair of sodden black boots. "Can't 'tween in this, either," he agrees with Tamina. "Hm. I didn't actually think about this part." Naldo shudders at the thought of horse liniment. "No thanks," he says, "I'd prefer to hurt." Krystyna laughs as she looks at Lyxia "And I got caught a lot. Of course that last time I went AWOL to the Lava Lounge was the angriest I've ever seen Master Malia. Of course you can't be a perfect appy all the time. Now I don't have to worry. I'm not an appy anymore." Tazek laughs. "For some reason I thought you might say that. Will you stay for the Barn Dance?" Tamina pushes her wet hair back, giving G'har a surprised look, "You're right. I wonder if we can borrow clothes from somewhere? It'll take candlemarks for my boots to dry out." Naldo nods. "Unless," he says and grins, "Some fishing emergency brings be back, but I've noticed there are very few fish emergencies. Aurian yanks off her mudbedraggled clothing, she tosses herself into the water with the soapsand, "What a messs!!!" She scrubs like mad. Tazek laughs. "True. No one seems to go into a panic when fish start laying eggs or having babies. Unlike runners. Wonder why that is." Madelynda's eyes rove to Jesica as she is addressed, inclining her head to the Fortian a formal nod. "Certainly, no offense taken," she answers with an amused smile. "And Ista's duties to Fort. I hope you escaped all of this--" She gestures hesitantly with one hand in the mud-people's general direction-- "unscathed." Kassima pauses in her unbraiding of her hair, which is taking awhile; it's a long braid, and it's been through heck today. "I've kilts you could borrow," she offers the two Istans innocently. Krystyna looks at Tazek "Is there a barn dance tonight?" G'har splooshes out of the water. "If nothing else," he says, "Fal or Gaudiorth can bespeak somebody at Ista--maybe T'lot--and get them to bring dry clothes." Tazek nods, pointing to the posted schedule of events for that day. "Yep. See, it's at the bottom of the list." Naldo laughs loudly. He scrapes some dried mud off his forehead. "I'm just glad I was last." he says. Lyxia grins, "Yeah, you're lucky. Perfect Journeywoman have a lot more privleges." Kvasith decides to investigate the mud pit, he rumbles. Why he realizes this pit is dragonsized, and whilst his rider's back is turned he toddles into the mudbit with a sound akin to bliss. Krystyna looks at the schedule and grins "You're right. It's at the bottom." Tamina follows after G'har after grinning at Kassima, "No thanks. I think we'll manage without them." She makes a face at G'har's suggestion trying to twist water out of her clothing, "Yeah only he'd end up bringing child-sized clothing." Kyrsah now clean but quite wet, she returns to where the others are, approaching Tazek "I see you are from Bitra aswell, I am Kyrsah!" she smiles. Kyrsah says "I dont believe we have met" Aurian turns about as she hears something, "Kvasith!!!.." Its more than too late.. she sighs and returns to her own scrubbing. She'll get him later. Phediath watches the whole event with slowly-whirling eyes, her neck arched high above to afford the best view. With a soft, wafting exhale, she suddenly loses interest, and begins to investigate a buzzing VTOL flying by. G'har catches Kassi's comment about kilts, and shakes his head emphatically, to the accompaniment of some water. To Tamina, he chuckles. "Mm. Someone else, then." Devyn waves to Loren Krystyna waves to Loren "Come sit with us Loren" Lyxia stands, "Well I'd better get back to the tent if I want to catch any of that dance." Tazek raises his eyebrows in query. "Last to what? Oh I see, last as in the anchor." He chuckles, pointing at the brown dragon wallowing in the mud. "Check that out, muddy rider, muddy dragon?" He turns to smile at Kyrsah, "Tazek. Well met." Krystyna smiles "See you at the dance Lyx." Jesica chuckles and nods, "Yes ma'am, except for having almost no voice left, I'm fine." Argothe waves to Loren, "All clean now?", he asks . Kyrsah says "Nice ta meet ya!" Lyxia smiles, "Okay." Devyn walks over to Argothe Lyxia heads southwest towards the road. Loren emerges clean from the bathing nook in wet but clean clothes. He's carrying his boots. "Sure, Krysty. Be right there." Kyrsah walks to the tree and relaxes under it Kassima cackles remorselessly before dunking her head back under the water. *Sploosh.* A cloud of mud follows, and, encouraged by the result, Kassi indulges herself with diving under to soak for a bit. Frankly, she needs a *lot* of cleaning. "Why do I feel like I've swallowed half the mud on Pern?" she asks of no one in particular when she's finally come up for oxygen. Kyrsah's smile begins to fade a bit with a sigh. Loren calls to Kassima and the others in the water, "There's warm water and a tub in the nook!" Tamina plucks at her hopelessly soaked tunic and nods to G'har shaking her damp hair back again, "That might be a good idea. I wonder if anyone is planning to come anyway." Argothe notices Devyn, "HI, when'd you get here...before or after?", he asks Tazek asks Naldo, "You going to wash the rest of that mud off your face before the dance?" Loren continues walking barefoot carefully across the field to Krysty. Naldo ohs. "Geez' I'd better. Be right back. Kyrsah looks up at the sky with a slight frown as she sighs again. Aurian blinks at Loren, "Warm water?!?!" Kassima has to laugh, wringing out the long, sodden length of her hair. "Thankee, but I'm used to the temperature now! What think you, Auri... do I look more human than mud-creature now?" Naldo comes back, face clean. He rejoins Tazek. "Did I miss any?" he says. Madelynda smiles softly at Jesica's response, a sparkle in her eye betraying quiet mirth, and nods. "I'm sure you'll recover quickly, since it was lost in fun," she says, her tone playfully philosophical. Her eyes shifting to seek out G'har and Tamina, she frowns thoughtfully, then calls toward them, "I hope you brought extra clothes?" Loren nods and speaks to Aurian, "Sure and plenty of soapsand too." Heila heads southeast towards a field containing large herdbeasts. R'val ends up near Krystyna, and grins at her amiably, "How's the craft treating you, hm?" G'har's shoulders lift at Tamina's statement. Apparently, he doesn't know. At the query from Madelynda, he turns and shakes his head, looking sheepish. "This, uh, wasn't actually a planned thing." Kyrsah sitting alone, looks downward, deep in thought. Tazek shakes his head, giving Naldo a rather cursory once-over. "Naw, you got it all." Except for that line up his neck, but hey it's not that big anyways. Krystyna smiles at R'val "Good. How's Telgar?" Aurian turns to peer at Kassima, "Veritibly human.. can't say the same for your clothes.. and we can't go between in wet clothes.." The brownrider looks clean herself at this point.... R'val chortles, "Too quiet for my liking, s'why I came here tonight." Tamina's smile mirrors G'har's as she grins ruefully toward the weyrwoman, "No ma'am. Looks like we'll be drying out first before heading back." Krystyna looks at Loren "Sit with us Loren. Kvasith waddles out of the muck, brown mud on brown hide... his color is lighter than the actual mud. His straps are quite soaked as well. Aurian leans her head against her hands wearily. Kyrsah with all her firelizards now, she rises to stand, with yet another sigh. Loren nods and smiles in thanks to Krysty as he sits wetly. "Thanks Krysty. Hi R'val." Krystyna grins at R'val "Well it is definitely not quiet here. Are you going to the barn dance?" R'val grins, "As if I'd miss a dance!" He smiles, "Hey Loren." Kvasith waddles into the water and rinses off... the mud flows off his well oiled hide easily. Madelynda arches a brow at G'har, then Tamina, a brief exhalation her only other non-verbal gesture. "As long as you head back before you're due for duty," she says tartly, but her eyes retain their good humor; and in a moment, her mouth uplifts into a smile. "You'll be perfect partners for the...barn dance, is it?" she notes, tone carefully even. Kassima shrugs, not seeming concerned. "'Twill just sit and watch the dancing, and wait for 'em t'dry as I do," she suggests. "By the time I go home, they'll be suited!" Telgar Weyr> R'val sees "And wait for T'dry" in Kassi's pose, and rubs his eyes. 8-) Krystyna looks at Loren "So how's it going Loren. I was glad you made our craft dinner." G'har nods emphatically at the mention of getting back for duty, with a murmured, "Of course." At the mention of being perfect partners, he looks askance at Tamina. "Huh. Guess we will," he agrees, with a grin for the weyrwoman. "We'll match, at least." Loren smiles tiredly, "I was glad to be there and see you walk the tables, Krysty. Right now I'm worn to a nub. And my hands hurt." Tazek dusts off an imaginary fleck of mud from his face absently, as he looks at Naldo's face again and the mud swipe there. "I suppose the barn dance is in the barn? That'd make sense, wouldn't it?" Tamina flashes a bright smile to Madelynda and gives G'har an innocent glance, "Guess you won't have to worry about somebody asking you to dance. It won't be too bad. I'll try not to step on your feet." Naldo shrugs. "I guess so. I can't think of anywhere else it would be." Argothe wanders over near the mud pit shaking his head and muttering something about "Better them than me" Krystyna nods as she looks at Loren's hands "Tey do look sore. Are you going to be too tired to go to the dance?" Kyrsah considers the dance but isnt sure if she will go. Tazek nods, "Well let's go look, ok?" Naldo says to Tazek, "Are you SURE there's no mud on my face?" Aurian peers at Kassima, "So you don't mind watching the Dance naked?" R'val nudges Krystyna gently and smiles, "When's that dance, anyway?" "Yep. And wet! It's been a long day." Loren says. Tazek shrugs, "I dunno, there might be some on your chin," he says with a grin, as he heads for the road. M'kla drawls from her 'hiding' place, "Since when has nakedness bothered Kassima?" Kassima finally climbs up out of the water, fetching a silver comb from Lysseth's strap-pouch and raking it through the mess on her head that might be dignified with the title of hair. "I'm *wearing* clothing," she points out, gesturing to her black ensemble with just a hint of a blush. "You know me far better than *that*, Aurian!" Kassima whips about to just stare at M'kla, aghast. "M'kla! You're mistaking me for someone else!" Krystyna grins at R'val "Soon I think. I'm not sure of the time." Aurian laughs at Kassima with a grin. Kyrsah approaches Naldo "Sorry for beaming you with all that mud, it was just so tempting" she smiles lightly. Naldo wipes absently at his chin and runs after Tazek. "What are you grinning at?" he demands. M'kla grins teasingly at Kassima, and 'unleans' from her perch. G'har beams at M'kla, apparently deciding that she must be his new friend, if she gets -that- kind of response from Kassima. "She seems to know you pretty well, Kassi." Loren watches R'val and smiles, "Have you and Mick set a date for the handfasting, Krysty?" Naldo nods to Kyrsah. "No problem, I understand." he says. Tazek heads southwest towards the road. Naldo heads southwest towards the road. M'kla chuckles softly, "I'm old enough to be her mum." Krystyna smiles at Loren "No not yet. We will soon though. I'll tell you as soon as I know." Aurian dips her clothes into the water and they soon come out clean, she pulls them on..."The jacket is ruined. And does anyone have a vest I can borrow?" Madelynda watches G'har and Tamina thoughtfully for a moment, then shakes her head as she smiles to herself. Standing upright and away from her lifemate, she straightens, eyes wandering toward the lounge. As if remembering something, she mutters something under her breath and heads that way with a purposeful stride. Kyrsah sighs again, and waves to everyone uppon her exit, she smiles lightly and then leaves with her head held lower than usual. Kyrsah heads southeast towards a field containing large herdbeasts. Kassima unhooks the comb from her hair and shakes it vigorously at G'har. "She does *nay*! Or rather, she does, but she's nay showing it by a comment like that one, as anyone in their right mind could guess." She doesn't like being called a nudist, apparently. Go figure. Kassima: If Kassi is supposed to be wearing finery this evening, you might have to wonder at her sense of what qualifies as fine. But surely not even the whacked-out greenrider could think that a black sisal blouse and black wherhide slacks, both relatively snug and looking for all the world as though she'd gone swimming in them and left them to dry, could constitute dressing up? Nor could those rather muddy, unimpressive sable leather boots that hug her calves; indeed, they only add to the general shabbiness of her appearance. Her knee-length hair has been left to tumble in a blue-black cascade, combed but still rather disarrayed. It might be noted that her skin has an oddly brownish cast... not natural, since the true pale winter-white of her complexion peeks through here and there, but still very pervasive. The onyx and ruby earrings dangling from her ears and the rings that sparkle on her fingers (+detail available) appear at odds with the rest of this clothing, but Kassi doesn't seem to mind. Upon noticing your attentions, the 28 Turns, 1 months, and 9 days old woman gives you a cheerful wink, flashing a grin in your direction. You may notice that the relatively complicated black, white, red, and green knot of a greenriding Telgar Wingleader who once had Benden Weyr affiliations has been carefully pinned to one shoulder of her tunic. Loren says "Good! I hope I can make it, but something's come up at teh Smithcraft Hall that has things stirred up." Krystyna looks at Loren "Well I hope things are ok at SmithCraft." M'kla grins a bit, "Well...I didnay say whose nakedness ye had no problem with lass." G'har just nods to Kassi. "Sure," he drawls. "Right, Kassi." Gee, he sounds so -sincere-. Devyn looks at Loren M'kla quips, "And who might ye be, then, lad? One of her would-be suitors that keeps being tormented into the ends of the sky?" Devyn says "Sir, when you have a moment, may I have a word with you?" M'kla says "Or jest someone she's dressed up t'be a lady for the night?" Phediath snorts as the VTOL finally buzzes out of view, swiveling her head around to inspect her hide for mud-spatters. Apparently satisfied, she rearranges herself into a leisurely position and, her hide rippling as the muscles underneath relax, closes all three sets of eyelids. Redder yet goes the greenrider. "I have a problem with *everyone's* nakedness!" Kassi protests immediately in self-defense, never mind how weird it sounds. "G'har, c'mon, even you know me better'n that... hah! Nay yet, M'kla, nay *yet*." That would probably refer to the lady-dressing comment, by the way. Loren shakes his head, "I don't think so this time. Journeyman Silane was killed at Ista Weyr and Master Allory is withdrawing all smith support from Ista until she gets a satisfactory explaination of his death." Tamina grins at the byplay between the group, then murmurs, "Be right back." before heading over to Gaudiorth to check on something, slipping out her bract and putting it back on pausing to give her blue a pat and a few murmured words. Krystyna looks rather shocked "He was. When did this happen?" R'val blinks at Loren and Krystyna, "Really? My my." G'har blinks several times at M'kla's question. "Would-be suitors? Uhhh, no. One of her would-be tormentees, more like." He grins, adding, "G'har, Falsanath's rider at Ista. And I'm not usually this muddy." He nods to Tamina. G'har also happens to be far away enough from Loren that he doesn't catch the Smith's statement. Good thing, too. M'kla ahhhs some, as if that makes her recognize the bronzerider. She squints some, indicating her lessening eyesight, and chuckles, "Falsanath's a fine bronze." Loren thinks a bit, "I never heard the date." Aurian wiggles into her wet pants, she erfs, "What a mess..." She grins. Kassima looks rather as though she wishes she had another clump of mud to fling at M'kla right about now. "Would-be suitors? M'kla, you've gone straight daft, I swear it." G'har receives a sweet smile. "Would be *tormentee*?" she echoes. "You want t'be a victim? Believe me, bronzer, that can be arranged...." Uh-oh. Argothe balls up a bit of mud and grins, he starts wandering about carrying the mudball with one hand, behind his back. Tamina gives Gaudiorth a final thump before weaving her way back toward G'har and the others, with a good natured call over her shoulder to the blue, "Remember, no eating." Falsanath rumbles brightly to M'kla, his manner just a little smug. "He's not at all vain," G'har informs M'kla, with a grimace. "Well met, and thanks." Kassi's statement, however, elicits another grimace. "That's okay, Kassi. Really." Then he pauses. "Wait. Didn't our deal nix quite a lot of horrible things that you could do to me?" Rillae comes in from the road to the west. Rillae wanders over towards all the noise. Krystyna looks at R'val and Loren "Should we try to find that dance?" R'val smiles, "Let's do that." "You would think so, wouldn't you?" Kassima drawls, in a way that's not apt to be good for the bronzerider's peace of mind. Loren smiles. "This is a gather, so no more doom and gloom." Krystyna stands up and brushes off her dress. You lead gentleman. I'll get us lost if I lead." Devyn frowns and walks off alone feeling rejected and ignored Loren stands in his bare feet, "Sorry, Krysty. I'll have to sit it out." he says and points to his feet. R'val grins, "Hmmmm." G'har's mind, were it visible, would be cringing in terror. It's not -that- stupid, after all. Tamina's return, however, catches G'har's attention. With a small smile to her, he mumbles something about being stupid and opening his mouth in front of Kassi. "Uh, yeah," he adds, to the greenrider. Rillae heads southwest towards the road. Aurian leans over to Kassima, "Did you ever get those knives..?" Krystyna smiles at Loren "Why don't you sit it out at the dance? It would be much more fun." Loren smiles at this, "I can do that! Lets go." Krystyna grins "Like I said you two lead. Cause I'll get us lost." Tamina arches a brow and grins as G'har as she returns, shrugging her shoulders, "If you would pay more attention you wouldn't say the wrong thing all the time." R'val says "This way." R'val heads southwest towards the road. Loren heads southwest towards the road. Krystyna heads southwest towards the road. Kassima's grin broadens, showing more teeth. "Nay stupider than many men," she assures him breezily, though this probably isn't a compliment. "Aye, Auri, I did--and they were beauts. Worth what I promised nay t'do to the man, which is saying a lot." Public announcement: Leara announces "Ladies, gentlemen, and mud-covered guests. The BeastCraft's Barn Dance is ready to begin. Come and twirl the night away in one of the few activities of the rodeo that is unlikely to leave you filthy and stained. The dance takes place in the main barn which is off of the Hall's road (@tel #969;main barn)." Aurian chuckles. Jesica salutes the appropriate people, "I think I'm going to go get a lozenge for my throat, from the healers, excuse me." Jesica heads southwest towards the road. Phediath snorts once more, eyes opening as if in response to a call from her lifemate. Soon, Madelynda appears, trotting quickly toward the pond. Coming to the queen's side, she scrambles onto Phediath's neck, buckling herself into the straps in a rush. Without a farewell, she gives a quiet command and the dragon complies, haunches tensing. Phediath launches herself up into the sky. G'har gives Tamina a rueful grin. "Okay, okay. I guess I deserved that. Sort of." At Kassi's words, he laughs. "Gee, thanks. And the knives," he adds to Aurian, "Were almost worth all that trouble." He starts to say something, then pauses, frowning. Kassima bows ironically to the bronzerider. "A'course," she reminds him, "that bargain still hasn't been completely concluded yet... is something wrong?" Tamina's eyes unfocus briefly and she looks up as Phediath leaves, frowning slightly but then turning back to G'har and Kassima with a smile, "So that's what the knives were about." G'har says patiently, "Just let me know when you want me to look after the kids, Kassi, and I will." He pauses, adding, "And something's wrong, yes, but this isn't the place to discuss it. There's supposed to be a dance somewhere, yes? You all can make fun of my attempts." Kassima spreads her hands and says, "Any time that's convenient for you, G'har, is convenient for me. A dance... aye, 'tis--in a barn, I believe? I'll gladly sit and watch and make fun while I drip-dry; can't go back t'Telgar until m'clothes are clean, so it seems the most amusing of m'choices." Aurian grins at Kassima, "Shall we go then?" G'har, with a grin, turns to offer an arm to Tamina. "Shall we, then?" Argothe casually bumbs into a passer by and smears the mudball down thier tunic then fades into the crowd. Kassima drags the comb through her hair a last time, then pockets it and nods to Aurian. "After you, brownrider." Tamina gives G'har a pleased smile and slips her hand under his arm, "Of course." She looks over at Aurian and Kassima with a grin, "Coming?" then heads toward the road. Aurian shakes out her very wet curls one last time. She grins, "Certainly." Aurian heads southwest towards the road. G'har, not even bothering to try and make himself look presentable, goes along with Tamina. Of course he does. She's got his arm. Kassima quips facetiously as she follows, "Wouldn't miss it for the world!" You head southwest towards the road.
