The IC fooage: the eggs of Sionelle's gold fire-lizard have begun to rock, and plenty of people are onhand to try and win themselves a hatchling. Only it seems, once the shells have cracked and their contents are revealed, that these may not be the kind of prizes that the spectators were anticipating. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Log: Public announcement: Sionelle ahems. Her voice takes on the timbre of James Earl Jones, and one of the hapless Benden Candidates is forced to stand behind her making artificial breating sounds. "There is a disturbance in the Force," she says. "I have felt it. Strange and horrible things are coming to Benden." Well, OK... it's just firelizards. Benden LC, five minutes. There are only five of them, and there are a ton of people. Only drop by if you really wanna RP-- if you do, we'll be thrilled to have you. Benden Weyr> Asrai LOL at Sionelle! You walk past the lintel and into the wide living cavern. Trent looks around as he enters and smiles "I know, I know..." Alyssa responds, shrugging, having fortunately not heard Kerlyn's inquiry. "Any idea when you'll be ready for duty again? I ... well, being acting wingleader unnerves me." R'val walks in from the bowl. Tinya walks in from the bowl. Benden Weyr> Mehlani .oO (This better not be a Star Wars clutch.) Asrai comes in, followed shortly after by the rest. With a bright smile she waves one bandaged arm to those she knows. Benden Weyr> Sionelle laughs. no. But soon you'll know the power of the dark side. Benden Weyr> Asrai says, "Oh what a /wonderful/ theme!!!" Benden Weyr> Mehlani flees, before anybody thinks of giving her a Harrison Ford bronze. Mehlani creeps quietly out. Mehlani walks towards the inner cavern. Tabby isn't here. Honest, she isn't. There's just that little shy shadow at the corner of the cavern. And Tabby? She's nowhere to be seen. Poor shy little bug. A room full of people, and her stuck in with them. Sionelle walks in from the bowl. Kindre smiles to Salless before asking, "White or Red," of the group she follows in with. Waiting for the response, she grins seeing so many faces, "Evening, all," she calls cheerily. Thenes walks in from the bowl. Kerlyn still has no idea what the conversation was actually about, and proceeds to sit near Alyssa, taking an absent sip from her juice glass. Emlyn is listening to Ursa and Alyssa discuss an injury. Her expression is torn between sincere horror at the tragedy and ghoulish curiosity in the details. "Drinks," Kassi is muttering to herself as she wanders in. "Drinks. Drinks, drinks, drinks. Drinks, I say." You might get the feeling from this that she's thirsty, and you'd be right. Procuring a flask of red from a ubiquitous passing Candidate, she uncorks it and takes a deep sip before sighing with contentment. Trina enters from the Bowl. Ursa shrugs to Alyssa. "You'd know better than I would,' she says. "How soon can we go between?" Thenes returns to the cavern, but stands back near one of the walls, having observed people coming here, and curious why that is so. Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "You already *have* a Harrison Ford bronze, Mehlani. Or did someone polymorph Indy back to his FL shape? ;)" Sionelle wanders in, brow furrowed. She ignores any greetings that are given her, and merely paces toward the flat basket of sand by the hearth. Alyssa smiles limply at Kerlyn and adds a friendly nod while answering Ursa, "That depends on Portock. Spineth's looking splendid." Trina steps in quietly. Kaliela enters from the Bowl. Kindre laughs a bit, "I see red will be the drink of choice," she says and takes a seat. Benden Weyr> <Mehlani> Holl> << Scoundrel? I like the sound of that! >> Sionelle sets down a low, flat basket of sand, careful of its contents. Basket of Sand and Firelizard Eggs was here the whole time. Yep. Kaliela walks over to Trina and motions for Sisirye to come over Tinya grins, nodding at Kindre as she procures two glasses of Benden red for herself and R'val. Sisirye looks about, suddenly notcing a lot of people. She waves to the ones she knows, and the ones she doesn't....her attention drawn to Kaliela. She grins and stands, "Hiya!" Ursa brightens at this comment from Alyssa. "Really? He can go soon as Portock says I can?" R'val smiles grateefully at Tinya and sits with her, arm around her waist, "What a busy night it is in here, "he comments. Trina stands beside Kaliela, searching her belt pouch for some meat. Kassima turns and inquires of those whom she came in with, "Anyone else care for a glass?" Even as she says this, another ubiquitous passing Candidate comes by and deposits a tray full of wine glasses at a table near the greenrider. "Thankee, Sancot," Kassi calls after the departing Candie. Roald looks at the inrush of people, and retreats into the back of the kitchen. Roald walks off towards the kitchen. Asrai takes a seat next to Kin and Kassi looking over at the basket, "Sionellema'am, isn't that the basket of eggs you brought in the other night, whatcha movem for?" Tabitha watches quietly. Vewwy, vewwy quiet. A-yupyup. And then, she sneaks. Skitter-skitter-scootch. Oooh, eggies. But does the Tabby-mouse say a word? Nope. She stays silent, shyly staying out of the way. Kaliela gives Sisirye a quick hug and looks around for the famous Luci Trent looks around at the dozens of unfamiliar faces and pats his bag Alyssa nods, though the touch of hesitation indicates she's not altogether sure. "I expect so. I'll have another look at Spineth after...ah...hmm. Tomorrow after drills?" Sisirye grins and hugs her friend back "I was wondering if you'd come t'visit. Oh, and this is Luc.." Sionelle ignores Asrai, too, too intent is she on the contents of the basket, and the proud little gold overseeing the clutch. Zhryie begins to hum softly. Kaliela grins at Sisirye "someone who stayed all the way through the last hatching said you gotta gold, where is it?" Sisirye shrugs as Luci takes flight from her shoulder. Tinya nods, looking around herself with a faint touch of surprise. "Some of the search wings must have had a good day. I guess." Asrai walks towards the inner cavern. R'val's eyebrows raise and he smiles at TInya, "Aye, indeed, that must be it." Trina looks wide-eyed at the gold. Kaliela chuckles and smiles "shes beautiful" Asrai walks here from the Inner Cavern. Sionelle AHEM: "OOC ANNOUNCEMENT. ONE POSE PER HATCHLING POSE. EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT TRYING FOR A HATCHLING. Thanks. :)" Trent walsk over to the basket and stares at the gold "beautiful.. Really it is.." Gossamier stands against the wall, gnawing on the inside of her cheek as she peers around at the small throng of people. Eyes dart back and forth before landing on the basket and the dam who seem to be the center of attention. Ursa nods. "If you've got time, Alyssa. You've got a lot on your shoulders right now, don't you?" she asks her fellow wingsecond very softly. Luci chirrups prettily at the two girlpets, spreading her shimmery wings. Asrai was here the whole time, yep yep. Kaliela points to all the members of her fair, Summer a green, Calmfor a brown, David and Cantor blues, and one tiny newborn green Lump appears from between above Emlyn's head. Rather than dropping for a landing on his usual perch (her hair), he flits over to the mantel over the hearth to land there. His eyes whirl in excitement, and his humming, higher pitched than his draconic cousins' adds to that of the other firelizards' in the cavern. Trina smiles at Luci, she reaches a hand out, "May I?" She asks of the owner. A soft, soft sound comes from the semishadowed spot that Tabitha seems to be inhabiting. Quickly shushed, however, Trista settles back against herpet's neck... yeep. Peoples. What happened to the road? She remembers the road... Tabitha takes another quick, hesitant step towards the basket. Pretty... Kaliela ohs "Trina thats Sisirye, Sis thats Trina" Sisirye smiles "Thanks! Hey, you guys wanna go into the inner caverns? Its getting kinda crowded in here." Thenes relieves a passing person of a goblet of wine, and sips it, searching the faces of those busting about in the room, for a very familiar one. Kaliela looks at the eggs "ok, but only for a little" Sisirye smiles as Luci flies over and wraps herself about her neck. Kassima doesn't seem startled at the humming, but it does draw her attention. Especially when those members of her fair who followed her in flit over to perch nearer the basket to join in the 'Lizard Chorus. "Hatching, hrm? That'd explain so many people. Hatchings draw folks like dead tunnelsnakes draw wrigglers." With this lovely analogy, she scooches her chair closer to the basket. Scooch, scooch. Kaelin looks around at the throng of people and mutters "Andreas'll kill me if I even think of getting another one !!", and then pushes his way out of the cavern. Kaelin walks towards the inner cavern. Sisirye walks towards the inner cavern. Brilliant Belior Egg rocks in the basket. Zhryrie begins to hum more loudly. Asrai looks up and motions the passing Candi that's on serving duty for the night. snagging some meatrolls and general scraps she shoves them in front of herself, Kassi, and Kin, "Here, I think we might be needing these." Sisirye walks here from the Inner Cavern. Trina looks at the eggs, another one? She sighs, but she wouldn't get one. She was already turned down by many earlier. Kindre smiles her thanks first to Kassima, then Sancot. Barely getting in a sip, she blinks over at the activity buzzing about Sionelle. Oh! her expression betrays when the humming begins. Taking her glass in tow, she moves to one of those able-to-see-no-way-Impress seats by the basket. Kaliela hugs Trina with one arm and whispers "you'll get one" 'Lizard Chorus? Sounds scary. Of course it would be, in the opinion of a young green who's itty-bitty enough to be /stepped/ on by some of those ones humming over there. Trista will just stay nestled up against Tabitha. Tabitha is safe. Tabitha is /quiet/. Tabitha is also trying to get a better look at the eggs. She can't help it. Trista's her only friend... she wants another. Sisirye nods to Trina "Of course you can pet her...but we'd better wait. Looks like more are on their way." she looks over her shoulder at the basket. Gossamier won't even attempt to search for a familiar face. Instead, she delicately steps her way towards an unoccupied corner that offers a view that is easier on herself, as well as anyone who might be behind her and her height. Bumping into someone, she blushes and quickly mutters an appology, eyes diverted to the floor yet sneaking back towards the basket. Radiant Rukbat Egg shivers and shakes, rocking in place. Kerlyn glances over her shoulder to see what all the fuss is about, and her lips purse disapprovingly. It's hard to tell if it's the activity or the weyrlingmaster in the center of it that causes teh frown. Kaliela is right in the middle of a loud buzz of humming Trina blinks, "You really think so, Kali?" she whispers to her friend. Kaliela nods, smiling warmly, "you'll get one, and if you don't theres always next time" Thenes's attention is drawn toward the knot of people, and he watches, curiously. Titanic Timor Egg bounces once, spinning on the sand. Unlike it's clutchmates, this one cracks immediately. Titanic Timor Egg cracks open, and a Crater-pocked Meteor Brown Hatchling tumbles out. A hulking brute compared to most of his clutchmates, this brown is not what most would call handsome. His shoulders seem too broad for the rest of his frame, and his hide, every inch of it, is dimpled, pimpled, spotted or pocked. The color of mottled firestone, or the rocky face of the Benden mountains, he's textured like the same rough material. Only his wingsails are smooth and clear, amber flaps of perfect hide. Tinya glances back over as the humming starts; she blinks, then ohs softly as the crowd parts just enough to let her see the basket at the center. "Ah, eggs," she says, and moves to sit on the table instead of in her chair, where she can see but is in _no_ danger of actually acquiring one of the basket's occupants. Alyssa chews on her lip and, before speaking again to Ursa, twists about in her seat to peer at the goings-on. "Firelizard hatching?" she mumbles to herself, pressing fingers to her temples. "Good heavens." Sisirye nods to Trina as well offering "I useta comb the beaches every day for clutches back home. But I kept trying and got Luc one time." she smiles and ushers the two over toward the basket. Trina blinks at the monstrous brown, "Whoa.." she mutters, wiggling her meat a bit. Trent scootches over to the basket, not too close to impose but close enough to see and make an, ahem, impression.. Kaliela places some of the fish and meat chunks that she has with her in the palm of her hand and reaches them slowly out to the brown Tabitha stands up on tippy-toe. So many /people/. She can't see. One hand fumbles in her pockets... what has it got in its pockets? Yeep. Doesn't seem to be much. The very, very dead meatroll is quickly foisted off on Trista, and Tabitha goes about trying to find some fresher stuff. Asrai giggles as Kin scootches back...and Kassi forward. Ever one to like a good hatching, Asrai follows her Greenrider friend...forward. she sees the first to make an appearance and tilts her head to the side...remembering a few beats later to pick up a wherry scrap and shred it into hatchling sized piece, "Not the prettiest I've ever seen...but he sure looks...strong?" Always wanting to find the best in a hatchling, Asrai leans forward with her offering. Kassima gathers up a few of the scraps placed in front of her by Asrai, finally managing to scoot her chair a reasonably close distance to the basket. "Thankee," she calls over her shoulder to Asrai, picking up one of the meatroll scraps to munch on herself. For the moment, she seems content to watch. Crater-pocked Meteor Brown Hatchling flaps his wings, turning his somewhat hideous face to the assembled crowd. The need for food is paramount. Flapping forward, he creels pitifully. Ursa pushes her stew bowl away from her, half eaten. "S'the last thing I need," she mutters. "Alyssa, I'll see you tomorrow, and you can doublecheck Spin then, if you have time." She reaches for her crutch. "I'll be available tomorrow if I can help at all. I can lead drills, you know, even if I can't go between." Gossamier is allowed a peek into the basket, gasping ever faintly at the contents. Startled at the eggs breaking apart and spilling it's contents, she jumps back - right into some unsuspecting person. Emlyn wanders nearer, remaining on the outskirts of the group. She's mostly there to watch her own firelizard above the hearth. She ends up beside Thenes and says to him, "Faranth's hind leg, that brown's ugly enough to stop rainfall." Benden Weyr> Kindre cackles, Emlyn! Kaliela chuckles at the comment of some unseen face as she holds out her meat "hes ugly enough to stop threadfall!" Asrai frowns, "Not all hatchlings can be perfect emlyn." she chides softly, giving her meat a little wiggle. Alyssa rises to assist Ursa as need be. "Thank you, Ursa...I appreciate that. I'll be back in the infirmary at dawn to check on Meroth, so anytime after that will be fine for me to check Spineth. Take care and...please...get well." Trina blinks and freezes at the monster of a brown. Her meat goes still, umm, she's not sure she wants this one.. Trent smiles and reaches into a small compartment in his sack, he pulls out a very bloody scrap of meat, as he dangles it the blood drops down as a trail in front of the brown.. "he's not ugly!" Thenes has moved closer to the crowd, curiously overcoming his reticence. Suddenly the girl in front of him backs into him, and he catches her lightly in his arms from behind. "Whoa, there, lass," he says, his voice low. Tabitha shies away from a set of colliding people... obviously she's not going to find food /that/ way, nopenope. Let's try /this/ way. The shy little holdless has no qualms about picking little bits and pieces off forgotten plates... she found that food. Honest. Let's see about scootching back to the basket, then... Sisirye makes sure her friends get a good spot and then sits back on the sidelines with the others, hopping up to sit on the table behind her she peers over the many heads, watching. Sionelle's hearing suddenly returns, and she pins Emlyn with a glare. Every clutch has an ugly one, Emlyn is proof of that herself. As the derogatroy comments continue, the weyrlingmaster, just frowns. The detractors have got a point after all. The brown is pretty scorching ugly. Kerlyn's eyes follow Ursa as she heads toward the infirmary, then return back to her work. Firelizard hatchings indeed. Crater-pocked Meteor Brown Hatchling waddles forward with all the grace of an oversized, newly-hatched lizard with wet wings. That is, not very gracefully at all. Moving toward the freshest smelling meat, he nuzzles at a trail of blood in the sand along his way. Thenes catches Emlyn's words, and glances her way with an apologetic look, since he has an, hm, armful just now. He helps the girl right herself. "I'd like a closer look myself," he says. "At the eggs, I mean. Never actually seen one of these up close." Trent smiels as the /cute/ brown waddles around and he drips a trail of blood that stains the sand and then he sets dow then peice of meat in front of him, he then pulls out another bloody piece to feed him next. Trina takes a step back, stumbling a bit. She trips, oops, and falls on her rump, ouch now that smarted. "Shards.." she mutters. Clustering Clouds Egg rocks once, and then stops, as the occupant catches his or her breath. Asrai pulls her meat back, waiting as the hatchling moves away from her. Almost forgetting herself she takes up a meatroll...its almost to her lips before Asrai 'remembers'...with a meep she throws it from herself, eyes darting around quickly to make sure no one saw. Okay... dodge through that gap there, scoot around the big guy with the hair... almost run into a drudge or two... but finally, Tabby arrives /kinda/ close to the basket. Close enough to see the eggies, at least. Trista, finally and notably belatedly, hums in the softest voice she can muster. Gossamier blushes profusely as she turns to see who she managed to stumble into. "Oh, I..I'm sorry." she stammers to Thenes, making her way back to her own feet where she carefully balances herself. Hair is brushed from eyes, allowing a pass of her cooler hand over her heated face before turning back to the source of commotion. Emlyn, oblivious to the deranged weyrlingmaster's inexplicable look in her direction, grins over at Thenes. "Well, grab that fish roll there on the plate, and elbow your way in. They can't impress to you from here." Ursa accepts Alyssa's help with a resigned air that shows she's used to needing help, though she doesn't necessarily like it. "Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow, then." Turning, she hobbles out, making her way around people, muttering words about all the strange faces she sees, about firelizards, about hatchings, and about shardling rocks that fall from shardling cliffsides and the shardling damage they do. Ursa walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. After Ursa has departed, Alyssa fetches for herself a mug of juice and returns to her place near Kerlyn at Skyfire's table. Finally noting Kindre's presence, she does take a moment to salute the weyrwoman, then sits, glancing now and again at the hatching. Crater-pocked Meteor Brown Hatchling continues onward, along the same path. All this action; all this confusion. But where's the FOOD? Ah. There it is. Trent has it. Crater-pocked Meteor Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Trent. Kerlyn murmers to Alyssa, "I have to admit, I don't see what teh fuss is all about. Those creatures are nothing more than an allfired nuisance." Kaliela grins and nods congratulating Trent Thenes smiles reassuringly at Gossamier, to allay her embarrassment. "Not at all. Good thing I was here to break your fall, I'd say. Now get in there..." He smiles to Emlyn, "As this lass here says, you can't impress from so far away." Trelina walks in from the bowl. Clustering Clouds Egg rocks again, and cracks appear on its surface. The clouds part. Clustering Clouds Egg cracks open, and a Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling tumbles out. Like the warning hue of a hurricane sky settling in a humid calm, a sickly shade of yellowy-green adheres to the hide of this creature under the slippery egg fluids. She's lightly freckled with rusty spots, almost like measels, the color not only dappling her flanks but covering the tips of her wings with an effect vaguely similar to the decayed edges of storm-soaked vegetation. Her screech is like the howl of the wind. Sionelle's eyebrow quirks. All right then. Maybe every clutch has -two- ugly ones. Tabitha skitters sidewards. Congratulations will happen now, and that means more crowding. So she goes the other way. Ooh, look, there's another one. A green. But /not/ Trista, quite obviously. The skittering goes /backwards/ now. Away from screeching flitbebbies. Another sigh, but this time Goss doesn't go flying backwards into an unsuspecting person who she is left to manage an appology to. Face falls slightly, a bit delfated that she not only managed to upset herself, but also missed the little brown's antics. She smiles to Thenes and nods, still flushed brightly. "'course not." Trent picks up the little brwon and cuddles it, feeding it food "cute little thing.." Kindre catches the Wingsecond's salute and waves with the hand not clasping the wine glass. "Evening, 'Lys," she calls over the chatter filling the cavern like the many people held within. Trelina toddles in, having escaped from her sleeping parents. She pauses, eyes wide, as she sees all those PEOPLE. Asrai blinks, looking at the egg fluid, and the wobbling...you can almost see the thought. o O<<Could it be alcohol>> She almost forgets to hold out her meat once more towards the newly hatched little Lady. Sisirye blinks at the hatchlings appearing in the clutch. "Goodness...never seen ones like those.." Kassima winces at the green's screetching, and tries to back up a bit. Without much success, since she only tips the chair backwards and has to windmill to regain balance. "An... interesting youngling," she says, quite truthfully. Apparently, that's about as complimentary a comment as she can come up with. Tinya blinks as she overhears Trent's words to his new hatchling. That's not what _she_ would have called it. But she doesn't say anything about it, just looks at the little green flopping around now. "Um, interesting pattern?" she says uncertainly. Thenes's smile broadens at Gossamier, and he hands her a meatroll snatched from a nearby plate. "Go on then...let's see if you can attract one of them." He stands near Emlyn, and says, "You think that one's ugly, eh?" He indicates the little wet brown stumbling about. Trent stands and walks to a corner and feeds hsi brown of which he affecionitly calls, Pimple.. Clumsy? Well, there have been worse words used to describe Gossamier's stupendous attempts at inelegant behavior. Flickering eyes latch onto the newest shelled hatchling a moment before realizing that she lacks a key element - food. She smiles as that is remedied by a quick-thinking Thenes. "Thank you." she says quietly before turning back to the hatchling, for the moment unaware of the other people who's assemblage would usually plauge her. Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling howls with irritation at the world. She's hungry, she's wet, and she seems to know somehow that she's just plain ugly. She may as well solve the problems she can. FOOD! Where is it? "They have a purpose," Alyssa asserts in a quiet undertone to Kerlyn. "But they're surely making a fuss. I don't know most of the people here, I think." Asrai blinks once more as that...*screech*..calls her from her thoughts. Remembering her part in this scene, Asrai holds out her piece of wherry, giving it a little twirl to attrack the Green's attention. J'conius, one of the older and more decrepit riders cluttering up the living cavern takes an interest in teh gathering, and makes a fairly impolite effort to elbow his way through to the forefront of the crowd, a handful of stew (apparently it was handy) in his fist. A gravy covered tuber lump is thrust forward towards the ugly little green beastie. Trina blinks at the sound, arms go to her ears, ouch, Trina, you idiot, that ones broken, she winces and ouches and feels quite embarrassed. She drops the meat, oops, well, so much for first impressions Trent looks up from Pimple and notices the new hatchling "ahh, she's cute too.." Sionelle winces at the tone of the little green's voice, and looks down at Zhryie with a hint of surprise and condemnation. Surely the polite little gold couldn't have spawned -that- creature. Zhryie seems perfectly pleased with the whole disaster. Kerlyn's shoulder lifts and falls. ""Oh, I've seen some be useful, but . . . " she looks dubious. "Can't say I'd want to live with the racket." Emlyn admits to Thenes that she does, yes. She points out the green, murmuring, "That one has hatched needing an oiling, it looks like to me." She's watching a boy from the lower caverns wiggle food and calls out, "Stuff it in her gullet, Son, she'll only bite you a little. Stuff it.., oh, nevermind." Trent walks over to trina and hands her a juicy meat "use this, it worked for me.." You see, Tabby wouldn't have a single problem if the new bebbie green was ugly. She might not even have a problem if the little one was fowl-tempered. But, alas, the Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling is /loud/. Very much so. Which, generally, scares the daylights out of Tabitha. Yes, yes, I know. A firelizard scaring the daylights out of a human? It happens. Just look. Kassima's features screw up in another grimace at the abrupt appearance of a tuber lump. "What sort of hatchling would eat a *tuber*?" she can be heard to mutter. Or could be heard, if she weren't being drowned out by the screaming hatchling. Trelina skirtles around the crowd, giving it a wary berth, in search of a familiar face. Alas, her Annie Salless appears to be quite busy, and in the middle of all those PEOPLE. She pauses to consider what to do next. Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling screeeeeches this time. Her wings, that horrible swamp-green, rise from her back like a moldy vapor. She dashes forward toward the first food she can smell. Where was it? Someone dropped it! Thenes chuckles at Emlyn's attempts to direct the boy. He leans over, "Why aren't you out there? Don't you want one for yourself?" Then stands back up, still watching, fascinated at the fuss. Emlyn looks back at Thenes and shakes her head, "Not at all. That Lump on the mantel there, the brown that's the size of a blue, he's mine." Trina staggers backwards no way too noisy, she ducks behind Trent, who handed her the meat. Gossamier wrinkles her nose. That one will need more than an oiling. Of course, she doesn't know much about newly hatched things, let alone enough to base an opinion on their looks. She kneels down, her long skirt's edge lifted slightly to avoid tripping on it as she takes the meatroll and sections it off. A sigh and a shrug as the green is off towards another direction, ignoring tossed crumbs. Trent stands and prepares to leave back on a long journy.. Asrai winces, pulling back her meat, "Ugh, no one's going to feed you if you keep screaming like that." She chides the Green. With furrowed bristling brows, J'conius seems to come to the conclusion that Kassima has a good point about the sort of food offered.. but he just wasn't that selective when he grabbed a handful of that unfortunate candidate's supper. His next effort is a chunk of half-fallen-apart herdbeast. Taking Emlyn's advice, he makes a grab for the hatchling, so he can do the sugegsted gullet-stuffing. Tinya says offhandedly to Kassi, "Dys told me once her sister got one with a cookie." Okay, so it was actually her sister-in-law and a muffin, but she's got the gist of the story down. Kaliela holds her hands up to her temples, her head pounding from all the noise Tabitha din't drop /nuthin'/. Honest. She just tries, somehow, to watch the noisy little beast's progress and stay as far out of the way as possible at the same time. Quite a trick, you know. Those Holdless folks are talented. Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling refuses to be put off by Trina's ducking and dodging. Gulping down the dropped meat, she creels out her desire for more. Much more. Much much mo-- urk! Wheeling about to snap at the hand that reached for her, she clamps her jaw on J'conius-flesh. Nope. Too gnarled and dried out. Triiiina! More meat! Benden Weyr> Sisirye snugs Alyssa and can't help but laugh watching this hatching. Benden Weyr> Alyssa nods. :) R'val chuckles softly, "Look at that one. Biting right down on fingers, she is! Hungry little green. Crystal Constellation Egg rumbles around in the nest, bonking into a neighbor. A tiny crack appears. Trina staggers back, nono, leave me alone...She is near tears, "NOno go away Trent looks dopwn and moves out of the way and moves Trina into the place he stood, "here you go little one. Ofira walks in from the bowl. Kaliela looks at Trina, trying to be encouraging "oh well, it is a firelizard" Asrai giggles, "I think it might be too late for that." Thenes's smile widens even farther at the antics of the people, more than the antics of the newly-hatched. He cranes his head to get a view of the lizard indicated by Emlyn, and nods. "I see him...so you don't want more than one, I take it?" His tone is amused. Alyssa is apparently too worn this evening to continue bandying with Kerlyn the advantages and merits of firelizards and instead looks at the roster the other bluerider holds. "Tomorrow's duty list?" she inquires. Ofira comes in from her night at the 'Hulk, and blinks in surprise at the roomfull of people, sidling away from the crowd, looking for those she knows. Gossamier stands up and straightens a bit, her knees threatening to give out under hear if she remains crouched in the unusual position any longer. Should be simplistic, this routine of supply and demand; of course generosity does usually call for better feasting than a meatroll. R'val looks over his shoulder, offering Ofira a warm smile in greeting. Kassima side-comments to Tinya, "I have one who'll *only* eat odd things. 'Twas munching some redfruit when I got her, and she insisted on having a bite of that rather than the meat on m'plate. Go figure." Tinya looks more sympathetic with Trina's plight than amused. She nods, says mostly to herself, "Wise to stay up here on the table." She notices Ofira slipping around the edges of the group and waves with a smile. With a bellow that would do Leilanth proud, the crusty old rider yanks his hand out of the jaws of the hatchling, then vindicitively flicks the soggy tuber in the creature's direction. he follows the age-old and completely useless healing method of sucking on the wounded bit of skin. After a few minutes, distate for his own .. umm, flavour, makes him give it up, and he looks for the next hatchling. Kindre waves to the arriving Baker, though her hand movements most likely are obscured by the bodies she's embroiled herself in trying to watch the Hatching. "Evening, Ofira," she calls in hopes that form of greeting will make its mark. Trelina spots a relatively quiet table, and padders over to the people sitting there, once again shying away from the crowd. Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling hrrrumps, a thoroughly unmelodic sound. Trina, supplier of all good things, has suddenly come up lacking. The green wheels around again, rotten-leaf-like wings dragging on the floor. Ah HA! Meatroll. She lunges. Kerlyn nods to Alyssa, "'think it's about time we started having them supervise themselves, one at a time, and writing up shift reports for it too." Thenes can't help it; he laughs out loud. To Emlyn he says, " Ofira edges over to R'val and Tinya, "Oh, a hatching," she smiles, catching sight of the clutch. "That's why we have such a crowd." Hurricane Sky Green Hatchling stumbles towards Gossamier. Up on tippy-toes again goes the little mouse of a girl. Mild alarm crosses the features of the little green on her shoulder who is having to endure the up-down-side-to-side motions of herpet. There! That other one's moving. Tabby, of course, was smart enough not to take /stew/... she took some slices of meat /sans/ gravy. Let's just hope there's a /quietbebbie/ in that new egg. Thenes can't help it; he laughs out loud. To Emlyn he says, "I've never seen anyone act like this before...does it truly attract the hatchlings?" Emlyn smiles at poor Trina's response, then turns the same smile on Thenes. "Oh, Lump there is enough trouble. Besides, how on Pern do people manage to care for the selfish little creatures. They have less sense than vegetables." R'val grins over at Ofira, "Indeed it is. Care to join us here?" he offers Ofira a seat, smiling warmly. Crystal Constellation Egg bounces, cracks, and bounces again. *SNAP* It splits in two. Crystal Constellation Egg cracks open, and a Detonating Supernova Blue Hatchling tumbles out. He might kindly be termed 'berry-stained' if the violet splotches marring his dusky blue hide were less shockingly bright. The abomination of color spreads out from between his wings in a gradient explosion of purple and puce. The total effect is that of an electrical storm gone sadly awry. And the kinetic energy of the little blue does nothing to dispute that notion. He flaps his wings madly, sending gobbets of sticky egg fluid scattering across the throng. Trina whews..."Too loud, way too loud.." she mutters to Kali. "'twould've scared poor Banon.." She's not scared, nope, she tries to regain her pride Alyssa nods her agreement with Kerlyn and asserts, "That was a very instructive exercise when I was a Candidate...that's an excellent notion, Kerlyn." Trelina looks up cautiously at Kerlyn and Alyssa. "Hi, Summons," she says tentatively. Sisirye waves through the throng to Ofira, sitting up on her tabletop as she is "Evening how was the gaming?" Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Eeew. It's Adonith's evil and ugly cousin!" Thenes cups his hand around his mouth and calls out to Gossamier, "There you go!" "Great Faranth," Sionelle says finally, "Were they all of them beated with an ugly stick?" Benden Weyr> Kassima LOLs! Rannal enters from the Bowl. Kaliela sees Rannal and throws her arms around him Ofira smiles, "Thanks, but I'd better get to bed. I had a couple of glasses of wine at the 'Hulk, and I'd like to be well rested in the morning. I'm expecting company," she smiles again, happily. Benden Weyr> Tinya _laughs_! Kaliela mutters to Rannal, "wantcha to..." Ofira waves over to Sisirye, "Fun, but not profitable, I'm afraid," she laughs. Asrai frowns more deeply as she overhears Emlyn's words. Her eyes widen at the Blue, "Purple, he's purple..what a lovely color!" Her words are totally against Sionelle's opinion as she holds out her meat...getting rather dizy as she triues to keep up with the Blues erratic motions... Tabitha sighs witheringly, sinking back down off tip-toe. She doesn't want a bouncing baby firelizard, a-nope. That would draw /attention/. Nevertheless, she takes a hesitant few steps towards the cluch... the /next/ one will be the one for her. Honest. Rannal smiles and waves as he walks in. He sits next to Kali, and pulls out a meatroll from his pouch. Kassima peers at the odd, clashing, and--to be blunt--freakish little blue critter... and, astonishingly, smiles. "That," she declares, "would have to be the weirdest blue I have ever seen." It's probably no surprise to those who know Kassi that she's prompt to hold forth an offering of meatroll after this proclamation. Sisirye chuckles back and nods, her attention spread in too many directions at the moment. Kerlyn's eyebrows pull together confusedly. "It may well have been an excellent notion, but it's hardly mine. Benden's had that particular institution since before Ramoth was hatched, as I understand it." Ofira says goodnight to R'val and Tinya, waves to anyone she can see through the crowd, calling out a general goodnight, and heads down to her quarters. Detonating Supernova Blue Hatchling flaps and flutters and shakes and hops. There! All that nasty goo is off. So, ok... a lot of it is on that old fellow with the stew-smelling hands. But better him than the hatchling, or so this little freak of nature decides. Spotting a handful of meat, he careens wildly toward it. Ofira walks towards the inner cavern. Now the blue, he's a little better, and not screaming so loudly. She tries to recompose herself and grabs somemore meat, wiggling it a bit. Given that the color purple holds an important place in Alyssa's life, the rider naturally eyes the recently emerged hatchling. And winces. "Oh...oh dear. That...that is a very...ah..unique fell...I'm sorry, Kerlyn." She immediately resumes listening to Kerlyn, looking embarased at the deviation in her attention. "But...thinking of instituting it now was a good idea, I meant," she notes lamely. Emlyn shrugs to Thenes' question about attracting the lizards. "Well, they've got to eat, I suppose, or they'll go between looking for their own meal." She winces as she sees the most recent offering from the clutch. It must be Sionelle's faut. She's twisted her gold firelizard somehow. Rannal tears off a piece of his meatroll, and sets it in front of him. A gravy-covered hand thrusts forth another chunk of stew-meat, right in the path of the blue. "Well, aren't you an ugly little beast.. mutters J'conius, "Messy too. Y'd fit right in with m'." He wipes off the egg-goop with a gravy smeared hand. The improvement in clenlieness is not, as you might say, noticible. Asrai holds out her wherry, the barest wince visable as she sees the targetting Blue pick up speed. "Umm here you go fellow....just remember its the meet that's the offering, not the finger. she chances a glance at Kassi and restates, "He's purple!" As if this is the most fantastic thing in the whole of Pern. Kaliela decides that she done quite enough socializing in the corner and walks back over to the hatching Tabitha hides. Behind whoever she can manage. Careening? Baby firelizards can /careen/? Dangerous little buggers. She circles around closer to the hearth side, towards the side of the main crowd. The next one, she decides, will be pretty and quiet and perfect. And so she gets her meat ready. Kerlyn's frown is slight, and brief. Why does Alyssa keep giving her all this positive reenforcement, as thought she was her flaming subordinate, or assistant. Farnath's eggs. "Well, good or not, it's an idea. I thought you might be interested in pitting together a schedule." Trina wiggles the meat for the blue, ah, now see, he's a clean lil fellow, "C'mon lad. C'mere.." Thenes notices Emlyn's wince, and he looks back towards the eggs, shards, and hatchling pile. "You don't like his colour? Why, I think he's a handsome, unique little fellow." He teases, but sounds quite serious. "That's it...unique." Kassima eyes J'conius's hands. Then decides, wisely, that it would be easier to keep her food in her stomach if she *didn't* eye J'conius's hands. Her common sense runs out as it appears she thinks that the blue would be a better place to rest the eyes. "Sort of like Adonith, only... um... nay," is Kassi's reply to Asrai as she swings the meat around and around and around. To and fro, stop and go. Trelina looks anxiously at the someones, then back at the crowd, then back up at Alyssa and Kerlyn. Fewer someones over here, yes. One might even manage to help her get what she wants. She tries again. "Hi, Summons!" From the bowl comes the distinctive sound of a dragon about Adonith's size snorting in disdain. Loudly. Gossamier snaps out of her slight delirium bestowed upon her by an overabundance of hunger and contributes the last of her meatroll to the small sickly-green-toned thing in her arms. "Hey slow down." she murmurs with a soft smile as she makes her way to a section less occupied. Detonating Supernova Blue Hatchling barrels toward the food, huffing and puffing like a pressure cooker about to blow. Finally! He reaches the food. Tiny jaws clamp down on Kassima's hand. Yes! Yes! Bliss. Detonating Supernova Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Kassima. Kaliela chuckles and grins at Kassima "congratulations" Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Kassima, call that creature anything LIKE Adonith and you'll be in for it. :)" Asrai goes into a fit of giggles as the Blue attatches itself to Kassi's ....hand. Brilliant Belior Egg rocks slightly, then lies still. Kerlyn looks curiously at Trelina, interest piqued.. "Are you looking for someone?" Tinya snorts as the wierd-looking little blue leaps for Kassi. "How very appropriate," she says, with a grin. Kaliela is determined to try for this one no matter how ugly Sisirye gasps and winces....those little teeth look like they hurt. "Another blue...er, of sorts...mayhap," Kindre exclaims to be heard above te cavern buzz, "your first violet one? Whatever the case, 'grats Kassi!" Tabitha winces slightly. See? Dangerous. She's got ESPN. Er, ESP. That's it. Ab-so-lute-ly intuitive. Smiling as the egg doesn't seem to be rocking wildly or anything ridiculous, she readies her meat. This one will be the perfect, shy, quiet, demure... Radiant Rukbat Egg spins in place, tapping gently against the Belior Egg, and inadvertantly helping to free the lizard inside. Brilliant Belior Egg cracks open, and a Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling tumbles out. Cheaper than gold, this firelizard seems fashioned from a poor quality of brass. Her hide has orange tints and a sallow complexion, made beautiful only by the polished shine of newly-hatched skin, a false brilliance already corroding into greenish-blue on her underbelly. Worse than the wretched shade of her hide, however, is the way in which she juts out her head, peering around herself with a half-squinted eyes like an old auntie too poor for spectacles. Trelina looks bravely and determinedly at Keryln, who seems like a nice enough someone... "Annie Salless in all the PEOPLE," she explains. Trina winces at the sight of the maw upon the hand, "Ouch.." she mumbles Thenes mutters, "Well, I'll be...it's a gold one." Rannal smiles at the gold, and rips a chunk of meatroll off and places it in front of him. "Come here....c'mere...its ok." Alyssa nods, readily, to Kerlyn's suggestion. "I'll be happy to. Is there anything else ..." She silences herself as Kerlyn's own attention waivers, and she busies herself looking at her fingers. Well aware that Kerlyn has vast experience past her own, she's naturally just trying to be that supportive and sweet person that can be occasionally grating in her unflaggingly postive way. Kaliela cringes at first but realizes that she did decide to try for all that are left and reaches some food out to the hatchling Trina giggles at the gold, well isn't she lovely. She throws some meat to the old auntie. Sionelle just groans, and lets her head fall to her arms, crossed atop her knees as she sits by the hearth watching this cavalcade of the bizarre. Gossamier does jump again at this egg's opening, brought back from her stare only by the small green's insistance for more food. She pushes more of the meatroll into her mouth and turns back to look at the new hatchling, shaking her head slightly. Emlyn gives Thenes an odd look. "Yes, 'unique' is a good way to describe that fellow, I think." Another crack of egg draws Emlyn's attention. She frowns with distate at the gold and mutters to her companion, "If she were a canine, I'd recommend putting her down." Kassima yelps audibly as her hand is met by teeth. Watching the blue trying to turn her hand into a Hand Sandwich, she demands rhetorically, "Since when is my hand the dish of the day?" Shaking loose the overbright anomaly, she quickly stuffs his mouth with food. "Here. This is food. This," she adds, shaking her bitten hand, "is nay food. Any questions?" Trelina adds, just so there's no confusion about this, "I need JUICE." Sisirye peers over the heads and smiles, scritching her Luci's little golden head "Not as pretty as you dear..." then she cheers silently for Kaliela and Trina. Trelina looks hopefully at Kerlyn. Asrai looks with quiet concern upon the Gold, "Poor thing, the glows must be too bright for her." she holds out her bloody scrap of wherry, twirling it back and forth...realising that the gold will not be able to see it as well if she holds it still. Along this same line she adds her voice, "Foods out there little one, you only need to step forward a bit. Tabitha grins like there's no tomorrow. An old auntie is better than a hurricane, to be sure. Besides, somebody to look after Trista when Tabby's off looking for food would be good, wouldn't it? Sure. So she wiggles her meat. Wiggle-wiggle. Creeps closer. *wiggle* Trista peers down shyly at the one herpet seems to interested in. Who's that? Banon enters from the Bowl. Kaliela waves to Banon Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling blinks and stares, stares and blinks. Then she pulls her head back, sitting up on her haunches and holding her wings out for balance. -Now- she can see. And there's the food! Kerlyn's eyebrows pull together again. "Annie? I don't thi-- Oh! Umm. Huh." She looks around the cavern. Dealing with Children is -not- her strong suit, even if Saer is her weyrmate. "I'm sure she' saround here somewhere.. Alyssa?" She looks hopefully at the other bluerider. She's occasionally insipid enough to have some sort of maternal feeling, right? Banon walks over next to Trina. "Hi Trina." Trina wiggles the meat to the old auntie. "Well, come now, come get this.." Trelina says helpfully, "Annie Salless in the PEOPLE." Gossamier happens to be partial to hurricanes as of late, which may explain her preoccupation with the one in her arms. "Hold /stiiill/!" she hisses softly as she presses more meatroll into the green's maw. Alyssa raises her gaze to regard Kerlyn again. "Yes? Oh...Trelina, love, hullo. My...what are you doing up this late?" Rannal beckons the gold with the meatroll. "C'mon little one. Its ok." R'val grins at the adorable little girl, "That's right, Trelina, daer." Benden Weyr> Kassima never said any such thing, Lys. She said he's not like Adonith, albeit in a roundabout fashion. It was the only compliment I could think of to pay him. ;) Ow! Yes, Lyss, I'm kidding; you don't need to beat me over the head with that dead tunnelsnake. Kaliela croons to the hatchling holding out thick juicy pieces of meat "come over here little one, you can squabble at me my creatures and all my friends enough people to squable at to almost make an auntie like you happy" Thenes snorts softly, and turns his head away from the ruckus to look at Emlyn. "Surely you don't mean that. I mean, look at her," He gestures one hand towards the brassy hatchling. "She might not fit your standards of.. 'beauty' or whatever you want to call it, but she's lovely anyway, alive and special. Who knows what else she might be? A surprise hidden inside, just waiting to be appreciated." He smiles at the young woman. "Some beauty isn't always readily there on the surface..you have to look for it." Asrai hmms and pulls back her meet, already having a Gold she doesn't want to seem greedy. Kerlyn nods, trying to use that strange smile people other than her always seem to naturally use around children. She ends up looking rather like she's.. well, deficient, in some way. "Yes, I'm sure she is people. Most people are. It's just where that's the question." Trelina looks at Alyssa, "I need JUICE. Mommy is sleeping. I do NOT sleep." Tabitha giggles. Really! An honest-to-Faranth giggle. Not pretty. But cute. Trista is pretty... and the brassbebbie/auntie is cute. So she creeps closer and wiggle-wiggles. Trista chirps quietly. Very quietly. How can thatone be a baby? She looks /old/. Tinya looks over at the little girl with a slight frown; she looks concerned, but not necessarily about the child. "Um. Should she be wandering around by herself?" she asks of nobody in particular. Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling crouches back down into a huddled stance. SHe's not querolous like an auntie, she's just farsighted like an auntie. Which makes her naturally cautious about bumping into things. Like -- oof -- that boot. SHe backs up a few paces and stares upwards. Somewhere in that blur, there's got to be food. Trina smiles at Banon, beckoning him to join her as she wiggles the meat about for the gold hatchling, she's actually kinda cute, come to think of it. "Here lil one, c'mere sweetling.." she half-coos. Trelina shakes her head at Kerlyn, and points to the crowd. "Not IS people, silly, IN people." This should explain everything. Banon smiles and his eyes brighten. "Wow...a gold!" He walks ove to the crowd, plops himself down, and dangles some meat from his fingers. "Juice...surely." Alyssa takes the mug of juice she had recently poured but had yet to touch, offering it to Trelina with a smile. "Here, sweetie." And to Tinya she adds with a weak smile, "Seems to be a tradition with P'tran's and Jehrina's children...I used to run across Jehran at all candlemarks." The herder in Emlyn did mean that about putting down Sionelle's deformed hatchling, but the romantic in her responds giddily to Thenes' gentle admonishment. She bites her lip and nods, blinking a bit, and says, "Oh, I'm sure you're right. I .. well.. I'm sure she'll lose that squint when she matures." Tabitha taps her little one lightly on the forehead, getting the gist of those pictures quite clearly. Then she looks back down at the auntie, slipping down onto her knees. She wiggles the meat more distinctly. Poor little thing has bad eyesight. Luckily, in all the commotion, she has forgotten that the drastic waving of her hand is probably going to attract attention. A good thing, too, or she'd be heading for the hills. Rannal pushes the meatroll a bit closer to the hatchling. "Here ya go little one. All for you. Dont be afraid." The boot-owning blur drips gravy on the gold hatchling, and then glowers at it resentfully. J'conius offers (very gingerly this time) food. He accompanies the offer with a grunt, of sorts. Gossamier furrows her brow as she drops what was left of the meatroll onto the floor. She bends over, trying to pick it up as she holds Wistra in her arms and realizes that it's a lost cause indeed. Brow furrows and she looks around for a new offering. Trelina adds "With the itle Lets." She says, as Alyssa offers her mug, "I want my OWN juice." Kerlyn nods with slightly exaggerated head movments. "Ah. I see. Here, if you stand up on the table, you might be able to see better?" Alyssa laughs, the first genuine amusement on her features in two days. Apparently this request from Trelina was not unexpected. "I'll get you some." Without another word she fetches Trelina her very own cup of juice, returning it with a slight bow. "Better?" Kassima eyes J'conius for a moment, discreetly of course, then shakes her head. She mutters to Kindre, "... were... earlier,... be... fifty... old?... that's me at fifty,... I'll... m'own ledge.... 'twas... fifty,... other..." Kindre senses Kassima eyes J'conius for a moment, discreetly of course, then shakes her head. "Remember what we were saying earlier, about what we'd be like when we're fifty Turns old? If that's me at fifty, I think I'll jump off m'own ledge. If'n 'twas Mart at fifty, on the other hand...." Trelina says, having heard someone mention her brother's name, "Ran sleeping in RAN's bed." She nods happily at Alyssa. "Tankoo," she remembers to add. Thenes grins and shakes his head at Emlyn, recognizing compromise when he hears it. "Even if she doesn't, she has worth of her own. I bet she surprises whoever Impresses her." Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling blinks again. It's raining! Oh, wonderful world that has such things in it. It's raining gravy. She peers up at the sky from whence it came, creeling in supplication. Leigha enters from the Bowl. Trina hugs Banon to her, "Now look at that old auntie, Banon, isn't she funny?" she murmurs to the lad. Rannal nudges the meatroll closer to the hatchling. Kaliela wiggles her meat for the auntie "c'mere auntie if you c'mere you can help me argue with Petri, my mom, shes always telling me what to do and embarrassing me but you could out squable her anytime, you'd have so much fun here squabling and sitting in the k:wiggles her meat some more "come on, even if you're not just like an auntie you sure do look like ya like to squabble, you'd have plenty of chances to do that with me" Asrai leans closer to Kassi, having looked around at all the people herself, "There are a lot of people here Kassi, Trelina takes the cup with exagerated care. "I don spill," she proclaims. "Im CAREful." Banon looks at trina. "Who??? " Leigha smiles and waves to Rannal Alyssa rests her hand on Trelina's head lightly, affectionately. "You're welcome. Kerlyn, I'll work on these rosters in the infirmary, if that's all right? And bring them to you first thing tomorrow? Trina chuckles, pointing to the gold, "That hatchling, she acts just like an old auntie." Sisirye laughs at the crowd, rubbing her 'lizards heads as she folds her legs up under her on the tabletop. Tabitha crinkles her nose up and scowls up at the rider. Hey! You're getting gravy on /everybody/ y'old coot. Except she doesn't /say/ that. Far be it from her to /say/ something. Her meat, far past wiggling, waves in jerky strokes back and forth. See? Food! Bad eyesight or no, that should be /quite/ visible... Banon giggles, and dangles more meat out to the hatchling, "C'mere ..." Kindre laughs. Laughs with such mirth, she sound carries over and across even the boisterous scene going on in the cavern. Nearly coloring the gold hatchling a charming shade of merlot, she quickly recovers herself and the precious contents held within the glass. "Kassi," she manages to giggle out, "I don't believe we've -that- kind of luck, but Jays..." Startled at getting a response fron the accidental dripping of gravy, the wizened old rider squeezes the gravy soaked tuber, dripping yet more gravy on teh creature. He tries poking some food down the creature's maw. The lower caverns lad sees his chance and tries to stuff his chunk of baklava down the gold's throat. The back of hand interrupts the flow of stew, of course. Other people wiggling food is distracting him, too, and he nudges his neighbor with his hip. Kerlyn nods to Alyssa, and gives Trelina another one of those strained/happy smiles. "So, who do you blong to?" Really aware of her surroundings, at times, she is. How /rude/. Tabitha just /has/ to say something, now. Not only has the guy gotten gravy in her hair, but he's nudging her, too? Ridiculous. "Hey!" she exclaims quickly, then silences again, nudging back. Hard. "Hey, yer pushing me!" says one lad, bumped by another next to him, vying for the gold's attention. He pushes back. "Wiiiiistra!" Gossamier screeches slightly as the green howls and wails. "I'm trying to fi-" She again thwaps right into someone, wanting to sink into the floor but pushed ahead by a need for food. "Okay, let go of my arm now, Wistra.. Go on, let /gooo/!" One by one, talons are pulled off her arm. Banon gets nervous with all the pushing and shoving, and presses up against Trina. Trelina looks up at Kerlyn, "I blong to MOMMEE. And Daddy. And 'Ran." From her tone, this clearly should be obvious. Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling shivers with bliss. Her prayers have been answered! Gravy is splashing toward her. Mouth open wide, she waits for the blurry drops to fall into her hungry, hungry stomach. But curse her foul luck! Not only was she born with this wretched hide, some lout just intercepted her gift from above. Luckily some droplets spatter her back. She spins in an awkward circle, trying to reach them with her tongue, head craned back over hershoulders. Kassima nods to Asrai as she continues attempting--it might be said fruitlessly--to stuff food down her newest and strangest blue's maw before he can swallow it. "As I said, Asrai. Hatchings attract people like a dead herdbeast attracts vtols... I *hope* I don't have that sort of luck, Kin. Jumping off m'own ledge sounds about as pleasant as asking someone to drown me in the Lake, but in *those* circumstances, I'd deem it necessary." Alyssa makes her way to the bowl's entrance and slips out quietly, Alyssa walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Rannal laughs, and pushes a meatroll piece into the feet of the flit. "There ya go." Benden Weyr> Sisirye practically falls over laughing....this is too funny. I love it! Tabitha pokes the rather decrepit looking rider again, and says (suprisingly vocal today... she probably won't talk to /two/ weeks, this time, instead of one) "Yer gonna make 'er fall over!" She holds the meat down closer. Maybe this'll help the poor thing see it. Food, too, not just /gravy/. Hmph. Kindre chuckles, shaking her head, "I meant of the baign of our...least my where marks are concerned...existance," she grins. Banon watches the gold, and giggles. He dangles the meat a little closer to the flit. "Here..." Trina practically throws the meat on top of the gold, splattering blood upon her, "C'mere ya ol auntie, c'mere and eat.." Thenes laughs, out loud. "See?" he says, pulling on Emlyn's sleeve. "She does have some surprises in her." He indicates the gold hatchling's antics. "What a sense of humour!" He grins at Emlyn. "I wish I'd tried for her, in fact. That one will be fun." The boy who interrupted the flow of gravy is shoved aside in all this nudging. He sprawls, upsetting a glass of wine somebody set on the floor. Asrai frowns deeply, getting a trapped, haunted look about her. When the pushing starts, so does her breathing...coming in gasps at the press of people. forgetting the hatchlings she starts backwards, towards the outer edges of the croud...towards Kin and those just watching. Her elbows are sharp , sharp like her panic at the press. "too many...people.." Newly armed with a fresh meatroll, Gossamier slips into a chair. food is deposited on her lap as she again attempts to remove the talons from their indentation and embedding in her flesh. One, two three..come on Wissy, we can do this. Another glance is given to the center of the assembly's attention before looking back at the neon hungering hurricane. J'conius elbows whoever just nudged him, and grabs for another handful of stew. To the accompanying howl of an outraged candidate, he carefully lobs a chunk of meat in the diseased looking little gold's direction. Trelina finishes her juice, and relaxes enough to actually start looking over at the crowd. "People are there," she says conversationally to Kerlyn. Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling lists to the left, then lists to the right. She's dizzy now, and her feet shuffle sideways, tripping each other up until she falls, face first, onto another boot. She can't tell the difference, of course, and starts gnawing Thenes' leather bootlaces. It's not gravy, but it'll do. Trina gets a bit nervous with all the pushing and shoving and spilling, ack what /is/ this, somebody just spilled wine all over her new blouse, her brows furrow and she glares around the room. Brassy Farviewer Gold Hatchling stumbles towards Thenes. Kerlyn nods gravely. "There too." She points at the corner of the room where the running Dragonpoker game proceeds uninterupted. "Funny think abotu people.. they're everywhere." Thenes blinks. Radiant Rukbat Egg finally cracks on its own, splintering into ragged shards. Thenes blinks again. Radiant Rukbat Egg cracks open, and a Irradiated Sunspot Bronze Hatchling tumbles out. A startling color, to say the very least, covers this hatchling in a sun-baked, coppery bronze. But the iridescense of his metallic hide is tarnished in irregular patches, causing the light to refract and reflect in strange and disturbing patterns. Even coated with glistening egg fluid, the effect is that of an acute case of eczema which is constanly in motion, crawling over the surface of this hatchling with a life of its own. The only constant points on which to focus are randomly scattered black-brown dots that pepper his back and shoulders like rain stains on metal, or spots against the sun. Emlyn laughs quietly and concedes Thenes' point. "Okay, okay. I admit I was heartless, and I further admit that she might be full of humor. But you've got admit that you've never seen so ugly a hatchling as that." Thenes looks down, "What the heck..?" Emlyn blinks as the hatchling falls on Thenes' boot. Trina ohs, attention taken from the spill, for now, she looks at the bronze, glee, she waggles the meat hyperly, "C'mere you.." Kindre is still chuckling mirthfully at some mental image when Asrai's backward stumbling catches her attention...how couldn't it? sharp elbows and such. "Asrai...?" is her concerned...though unclear whether for herself or the Candidate...question begs. Rannal watches the hatchling emerge, and nudges a meatroll over to it. "Here ya go little one" Tabitha scowls at the dragonrider... that one woulda been /hers/, too. But she doesn't say a thing. Just veryveryvery discreetly pushes him. Hard. Them Holdless kids are strong, too... they have to be, you know. Ah, a bronze. But not /cute/. And so /bright/. Her face screws up in indecision. Gossamier looks up as Wiska's wailing subsides. A glance over to Thenes - hey, didn't she stumble into him earlier, and he gave her the meatroll that attracted a most unattractive Wiska? - and she smiles. Emlyn scrambles to hand Thenes a bit of the food on the nearby table, pressing a wad of stewed greens in his hand. Banon oooohs in amazement as he moves his hand, and dangles meat above the bronze. "Here..." Trelina asks Kerlyn curiously, "Little lets are hungry? They eat?" Kassima blinks and turns her head, though her hands mechanically continue the business of maw-filling. "Asrai? It's just us, lass--y'know most of us, and there're nay more people here than there've been a'fore." Thenes coughs, and blushes. "Well...hm.." he says, still looking down. J'conius gets shoved again, and glowers. he looks like he's contemplating dripping gravy over non-wingled hatchlings, and instead stomps back ver towards the dragonpoker game he'd left. His compatriots are still laughing over his luck at the hatching, so with a scowl, he stomps out past them as well. Thenes takes the greens, and crouches down, gently removing his laces from the little one's mouth. "Here, this is a tad better, I think.." His voice is very low, very soft, and very embarrassed sounding Sisirye watches the gold and looks over to Thenes and Emlyn from over the crowd. She grins and calls a congrats over the mob. Asrai turns with a start as she hears Kin, her eyes a bit on the wild side. Her breath comes in gasps, but as she looks around she sees that its not so crouded back here. Taking a seat on the bench she trys to relax, not hearing Kassi's comments in the croud. Irradiated Sunspot Bronze Hatchling has one thing in mind. Food. She he starts forward to find it. By this time, the whole place smells like one giant smorgasboard. Kerlyn nods gravely. "Exactly. And see-- they have the same manners as candidates. I'm sure your Moommee, whoever she is, is raising you much better." Kaliela holds out some fish for the /handsome/ bronze Rannal pushes a piece of meatroll directly in the path of the hatchling. "There ya go. All for you." Sionelle, who had peered up from her position by the fire with the fleeting hope that this last hatchling would redeem its clutchmates, sighs. Shells. What a crew. Trina waggles the meat hyperly, "Here lad, here!" She calls, unaware of her angry sort of tone as she still thinks about the spill on her new blouse, she waggles the meat, spurting blood all over the place, she wants a hatchling. Banon continues to hold his meat directly above the bronze. "Take it...." Trelina looks up Kerlyn, "Mommee is better!" she agrees. "Ittle lets eat THAT food?" She points. "Annie Salless's food?" Kerlyn nods solomnly, "Well, someone has to, right?" She winks gravely. See, she can make a joke, no matter what her wingmates might insist. Handsome? Maybe that's it. The bronze is handsome. Now, don't ask Tabitha to /spell/ that, definitely. She probably can't even write her name. Back to her shy little old self now that the mean ol' rider's gone, she wiggles her meat. C'mere? Trelina adds, "Ittle Lanth, too. Like Mommee's Lanth." Trelina adds, "Momee's Lanth PRETTY." Tinya blinks as the last hatchling is as odd-looking (not to say just plain _ugly_) as its fellows. "Shells, Sionelle," she says. "What'd you do, take 'em between once too often?" Kerlyn nods gravely. "Very pretty, I'm sure. Have you ever seen a dragon that wasn't?" Irradiated Sunspot Bronze Hatchling trips over a meatroll shoved into his path, kicking it back behind him with some ferocity. Nasty thing, getting in his way like that. He makes a sound something like a growl and something like a bugle, tail swishing from side to side in agaitation as he casts about for food. Thenes looks up at Emlyn, and then back down at the ravenous hatchling. "Uh, she's still hunrgry..." He looks bewildered, a strong contrast to his earlier confidence. Banon places a piece of meatroll in front of him and calls to the flit. "C'mere" Now, so much for their being quiet, Trina's fair start creeling and crooning and winging about her, they study the bronze, chittering and such, generally making a lot of racket. Trina tries to hush them, truly she does, she acks and tries to shoo them off, her casted arm is again moved and bumped "Ouch!" She mutters and waggles her meat furiously. Trelina shakes her head solemnly. "Lanth GORD. Let not gord. Let PRETTY." Sionelle looks up again, and glares at Tinya. This had -better- not turn into a reflection on the weyrlingmaster. "Hardly," she says. "Though I admit, I'd wondered the same about you." Childish? Most definitely. Trelina adds, "Let is for PAPA." Rannal oopses at the trip, adn holds out another piece of meatroll. "Try a meatroll." Goss says to Thenes, somewher between a whisper and a shout. She blushes again, looking back down quickly. Wissy, ya know. She needs attention. Kaliela holds her fish at a respectful distance from the bronze but where he can get ut rather easily "here handsome one, I have everything you could ever want, love for you female flits for you food for you and whatever your handsome heart desires Emlyn hands Thenes the next bit of food she comes across. This time it's a bit of regional meatroll from Boll. A human who tried to eat it ran from the cavern fanning his tongue, but Emlyn doesn't know that. "Here, this is more substantial." R'val blinks at that, and sits up, scowling at Sionelle. He looks ready tosay something, but bites it back. Thenes holds his hands out, "Where...what..." Tabitha yeeps, softly. Her last sound of the day most definitely. Nasty? The meatroll? Maybe the hatchling, but not the meatroll. Picking herself up, she skitters back a pace or two. She's seen bites taken out of /people/ today, and doesn't want it to happen to her. Thenes takes something pressed into his hand, and grimaces but gives it to the creeling 'lizard. Drugar walks in from the bowl. Kassima shakes her head at the appearance of this newest hatchling. "Even odder than Phenix's clutch that got deposited in the snow," she murmurs to her blue, who chirrups in what would seem to be agreement. Standing up, the rider and her warped, twisted handful manuever deftly through the crowd. This is probably helped by the tendency of some folk to edge away from the 'lizard that Kassi's carrying. Asrai rocks a bit in her seat. Leigha waves to Drugar, and motions for him to come and sit Tinya snorts at the Weyrlingmaster's comment, drawling rather exaggeratedly, "Temper, temper. Setting examples and all that, you know." A sneer? Well, maybe a little one. Certainly her expression's on the smug side. Trina oys as she sees Drugar arrive, what with her in such a mess, she'll surely miss out on the job, she frowns and waggles the meat furiously again, brows furrowed, whoever spilled that wine on her is in /big/ trouble. Sated, Wis curls up wearily into Goss' lap, leaving her to gently scritch the sleeping flit with a faint smile as she is allowed to regard the rest of the crowd again. Eyes move around, looking over as she cranes her neck to get a glance of Thenes to see how he's managed. Relaxing, she absently rubs at her arm where Wis had dug her talons into her at. Lump finally seems to realize that a gold has hatched and bugles to the Farviewer Hatchling sprawled so disgracefully on Thenes' boot. Sisirye looks up, noticing the large trader and waves, half recognizing him...perhaps from the gather or something. She shrugs and turns back to the mob scene around the basket. R'val squeezes Tinya's hand under the table,a nd favours her with a small, slightly smug smile and a wink. Irradiated Sunspot Bronze Hatchling spots something moving in the croweded cavern. Not that it's the only thing moving, not by a long shot. But the important thing is, it's -ffod- that's moving. Fixing his gaze upon it, he lumbers across the stone floor in that direction. Leigha chuckles and takes a quick look around the living cavern, before turning her attention back to the hatching Thenes finally has the sense of mind to gather the hatchling into his arms, and straightens from his crouch. He looks up, catches Gossamier's glance, and smiles, shrugging bewilderedly. He looks over then at Emlyn, and says, "Uhm. Well. I don't know know quite what to say.." Kaliela waggles her meat at the Handsome bronze "please come here, I need a handsome bronze like you to keep my greens happy" Banon continues to dangle a piece of meat out in front where the 'lizard can find it. "Here..." Asrai looks up from her rocking, managing a small smile for the approaching Kassi and her newest hatchling. Brassy Farviewrgold Hatchling knows what to say, and she says it, loudly. It probably means 'Stop talking and pass the meat.' Rannal drops a piece of meatroll in front of himself. "there ya go" Emlyn gives the bewildered Thenes a long look, then laughs quietly. She directs him away from the noise and excitement. "Sit here. I'll bring you some of the scraps." Trelina yawns. Drugar enters silently, his three slouched gracelessly about him, shoulder here, head there, hanging out a pocket. He waves to those he knows, and shoos them back to what they were doing, as he watches. Trina waggles the meat furiously, grumbling all the while about her new blouse being surely ruined by that spill. She frowns and directs attention on the bronze Banon wiggles the meat somemore, to both hatchlings, hoping upon hope that he can impress. Thenes winces at the gold's shrill voice. "Now, now...here you go." He feeds her whatever happens to be closeby. In this case, some of the aforementioned baklava, which he regretfully gives the lizard instead of eating it himself. He speaks soothingly, and allows himself to be led to a chair by Emlyn. Irradiated Sunspot Bronze Hatchling snatches at the wiggling prize, tugging it out of Trina's hands and gobbling it down. Undignified to the last, he burps. Then ne waddles closer for seconds. Irradiated Sunspot Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Trina. Kaliela smiles and hugs Trina "you did it!!" Trelina asks Kerlyn, "the people throw the food? At the ittle Lets?" Gossamier chuckles softly, shaking her head and thanking Faranth that her new accompaniment is asleep. She wiggles into the seat a bit more, making herself comfortable. Benden Weyr> K'tyn waves, yet again. New modem is taking a bit to get used to. So, what's up, hm? Trina blinks, and feeds the bronze, a bit more relaxed now, she now searches for the culprit that ruined her blouse. Tabitha looks around nervously, as if expecting something to jump out at her, then skitters off to take a nap. Sisirye grins over to Trina and Kal, clapping and hopping down off the table "Congrats! He's....uhh...well...a bronze!" is all she can manage about the strange hatchling. Kaliela chuckles and congratulates Trina "a bronze and hes so handsome" Kerlyn's nose wrinkles, adn she nods. "They seem to be, yes. But they're not supposed to. I imagin your Annie Salless'll have a few sharp words with them about it. " Sionelle chances another glance at the basket of horrors. Empty! She looks relieved. Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "oh, the usual, Candi-talks, hideously ugly flits hatching in the LC, spam, coolio GAME messages... ;)" Asrai's violet eyes scan the still lingering croud, thankfully well away from her seat. Over their heads she can't help but notice the /huge/ man walk in. Taking in his height, a clear two fet over her own, she swallows audibly, "He's bigger then Rakan." Banon turns to Trina. "Congrat'tions Trina!" Rannal dropped Norscree. Emlyn brings over some of the meat that'd been scraped off plates in the kitchen. She sets it down by Thenes elbow, saying apologetically, "-We- wouldn't eat it, but that little one will think she's being fed like Lady Reaches on her wedding day." Leigha stands and stretches, her knees cracking slightly Trelina says solemnly, "Annie Salless said somting to me. Throwing food is NOUTY!" Kaliela finally gets around to really introducing Rannal and Sisirye to each other "Sis this is my fiance Rannal and hon thats Sisirye we met each other at the gather in ruatha" Trina hugs Banon, her attention still focused on finding the wine spiller. Kerlyn nods gravely. "Exactly. It's just disgusting." Trelina looks earnestly at Kerlyn, "Digoosting? What's dat?" Kindre chuckles quietly while bobbing her head, its motion meant for Asrai even though her eyes gauge the comparable height of the man indicated. "I believe we very well may be a that..." Benden Weyr> Sisirye says, "Yeah, but they were pretty cool hideously ugly flits. :)" Sionelle breaks a taboo and says something OOC again. Thanks for coming to RP. Good luck in the future, if you didn't Imress here. Tinya double-checks to make sure that's the last of the eggs, then moves back down off the table and into her seat. See, she was right to sit up there; even bootlaces on the floor can put you in danger. Benden Weyr> K'tyn darns, and I missed it? Sisirye extends a hand to Rannal "Well met Rannal. Glad I finally got to meet you, Kaliela told me lots in letters and stuff." Kaliela notices Drugar and waves Trelina is ever anxious to expand her vocabulary... Kerlyn scratches thoughtfully right between her eyes. "Its the mess that's left over once your Mom's Lanth is done having lunch." Kassima plunks herself down in a chair by Asrai and Kin, with a grin for both. "I'm going to have a time naming this lad, methinks." Emlyn's little brown eyes Sionelle's gold speculatively. He displays his wings, which are perfectly formed, and makes a smug sound. Rannal smiles. "Well met." He shakes Sisi's hand. "I cant say shes told me much of you, im sorry to say." Benden Weyr> Kassima wonders how painfully Lys would kill her if she named this hatchling Kadonith, then decides the answer would be, "Too painfully." ;) Rannal dropped Norscree. Asrai tears her gaze away from Drugar momentarily to look at Kassi, "I'm..sorry I left so quickly...but when everyone started pushing..I couldn't breathe." Kaliela chuckles "sorry love, I guess telling you about my newer friends kind of escaped me" Trelina says solemnly, "Oh. After lunch? Lanth digoosting?" She's not sure if this is something bad or not. Trina follows Banon out Kvyn heads after Trina. Sionelle sighs and stands up, taking the basket off of the hearth. She starts chucking shards into the fire. Meanwhile the gold in the basket displays her won wings for Lump. Her's are not only perfectly formed, they're a good three times the size of the brown's. She chirps back, just as smugly. Sisirye chuckles "That's alright...we've only seen each other a few times really. And since I got stuck here for a while.." she grins and shrugs. Kerlyn hadn't really meant that, but can't really figure out how to back out of it now, so she just nods. "Exactly." Rannal dropped Krono. Kindre smirks a bit hearing Kassima and moves her eyes from the large man to the firelizard in the greenrider's arms. "Hrm...Kamethyst, mayhap? You know how sharding awful I'm at this," she offers and grins. Trelina repeats, "Oh." Uncertainly. But files it away to tell mommy. She then looks at Kerlyn. "I'm SLEEPY." Kassima nods to Asrai sympathetically. "There's a name for that, I think... something like what the Healer said my uncle who's afraid of little hand-knit wherry caps has." Trelina asks Kerlyn, "Can I Sleep wid LET? In LET's bed?" Benden Weyr> Kindre giggles, Kassi! Benden Weyr> K'tyn grumbles. Anyone have any idea how to make win 95's built in telnet not behave so funky? :) Please? I'd like to rp, but since I can't understand what I'm seeing (it's jumbled, somehow) I'd be useless. sigh. Gossamier carefully stands up, smiling as she cradles the sleeping Wistra in her arms. "Wissy..Wisky, hun..We're going home now." she coos to her. Lump makes an ambivalent sound at Sionelee's gold, then flits over and lands on Emlyn's head with a thump. She winces and moves him to her shoulder. Once there, he wraps his tail tightly around her throat. Sionelle swats gently at her gold's wings. "No more of that," she might be heard to mutter. "Look what happened this time..." Benden Weyr> Kassima has no clue, Kiat, sorry. :) *Grins at Kin.* My uncle who's afraid of hand-knit wherry caps is the brother to my aunt who insists the voices in her head *tell* her to knit little wherry caps. Coincidence? ;) Benden Weyr> Asrai rolls! Benden Weyr> Sionelle whews, and +unquiets, finally. What a lot of spam that was. Kaliela ohs and realizes that Rannal hasn't met the newest member of her evergrowing fair Benden Weyr> Tinya says, "I think it's just a casualty of _any_ kind of raw telnet that it's hard to tell what's going on, 'cause it mixes input and output. Get a client?" Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "40 columns, Sionelle...that's spam ;) Wow, great Hatching, tho!!!!!" Benden Weyr> Tinya giggles. That was a _fantastic_ clutch, Elle! Rannal shrugs as Krono takes flight from his shoulder. Thenes smiles at Emlyn, and nods his thanks. "You'll have to tell me what to do, I think." He feeds whatever it is that is handed to him to the hungry lizard. "I haven't got the benefit of your experience, after all...and it's your fault she came to me, I'm sure." He grins. Benden Weyr> Sisirye snugs Sionelle! "That was awesome!!! I was dying the entire time!" Asrai frowns as Healers are mentioned...again. "Well I'm not going to the Healers so they can tell me I'm crazy as well as clumsy." Ah, she /does/ remember P'trans as yet unfullfilled orders. Benden Weyr> Sionelle says, "Thank you, thank you. I wanted to see how people would react to hideously ugly little beasts. :)" Benden Weyr> R'val enjoyed the lil imps :) Tinya calls over, "Kassi, what exactly _is_ a wherry cap?" R'val murmurs to Tinya, smiling impishly, "Are you /sure/ you want to know?" Emlyn shakes her head at Thenes, "Oh, I doubt that. I was recommending putting her down, you might recall. I think she came over after your ode to beauty." Kaliela points, or attempts to having trouble since shes carrying six creatures, to a tiny newborn green and grins up at Rannal "got her just a little while ago" Benden Weyr> Kerlyn thinks you did a smaching job of it, Sionelle. They were absolutely repulsive. :) Emlyn pushes more meat closer to the young man, too. Asrai crosses her arms in front of her stubbornly. Benden Weyr> Kassima nodnods, it was great! Second-weirdest hatching I've ever been to. :) Now, to find a name for this blue... I'd go for Komet, except it makes me think of the Comet Cleaner song. 'Comet! It makes your mouth turn green! Comet! It tastes like Listerine....' Rannal says "Congrats hon" Rannal smiles Benden Weyr> Sionelle says, "Comet! It makes you vomit! So buy some Comet, and vomit today!" Kaliela plops down in the chair by Sisirye and yawns "three hatching in one day, Trina and I have been busy" Benden Weyr> Sisirye says, "Which actually might be kinda fitting for a hatchling from this bunch!!" Kassima calls in reply, "A hand-knit small hat for a wherry's head, a'course!" Benden Weyr> Sionelle was about to say... Trelina tugs at Kerlyn's sleeve and repeats, "I'm SLEEPY." Thenes laughs. "That was an ode?" Benden Weyr> Kassima was thinking that, actually. ;) Sisirye grins and shakes her head "You're simply a magnet for the beasties Kal....I'll letcha know when Luci has her first batch." Kerlyn blinks at trelina, then nods. "Ok, that's easy to fix. You just show me where you belong, and we'll get you to bed?" Rannal shrugs as Norscree takes flight from his shoulder. Benden Weyr> Mehlani tries to decide if she was pleased or sorry to have missed it. *giggle* Kaliela chuckles and would travel half way cross Pern for a flit Benden Weyr> R'val says, "Be sorry, in a relieved sort of way :)" Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Well, 'Lani, I'll tell you this: Harrison Ford didn't make an appearance. ;)" Tinya blinks. Twice. "You're right," she says to R'val. "I shouldn't have asked." She seems unable to stop herself, though, as she calls back, "Do wherries need caps? Seems like your uncle shouldn't have to hard a time avoiding 'em." Trelina nodnods, "You carry me." Then adds, since it seems to work on Mommy and Papa, "Peeze!" R'val laughs softly, "Poor Tinya. You have yet to learn how to deal with lunatic greenriders." He grins. Thenes caresses the tiny head with one hand, as he feeds the tiny mouth with the other. "She -is- a beauty, isn't she..?" His voice is very soft. "You are going to the Healer's," is Kindre's rather stern statement to the Candidate beside her. As if only to solidify her stubborness on the subject, her arms cross on her chest and she nods one of those 'and that's final' nods. "I'll find you tomorrow and we'll go. Mayhap they can sure me of this mark obsession and 'shroom fear I seem to have," she says more lightheartedly. Benden Weyr> Mehlani chuckles softly. Mehlani, charmer of dragonkin, loves even ugly beasts, Kassidear. Kassima shakes her head and calls to the bluerider, "Nay, but m'aunt Simeythria--his sister--insists the voices in her head tell her to knit them; whenever he sees one, m'uncle runs away screaming. We're still nay quite sure why." Asrai lowers her head into her shoulders looking /decidedly/ unhappy bout all this. Norscree creels loudly. Emlyn bites her lip at the direct question about the hatchling's alleged beauty. She answers the first question first, "Oh, it sounded like an ode to me. Sounds also like you too your own advice." Kaliela looks over at Norscree and hands her a left over chunk of fish from the hatching Kerlyn peers rather dubiously at Trelina, then sort of gingerly holds out her arms. "Ok, I guess. You'll have to tell me where to go, though." K'tyn walks in from the bowl. Kaliela says "there now little one, a nice big chunk of fish for ya" Tinya blinks again, and shakes her head as if it hurts. Which it probably does. "I should know better," she tells herself firmly, then adds, "I _do_ know better. Why did I ask?" Trelina wraps her arms around Kerlyn, and lets one go long enough to point to the bowl. "THERE!" Sisirye smiles at her friend and her fair. Yawning slightly she suddenly looks rather tired from all the mess. "I think I've to get to bed soon Kaliela....chores again in the morning." Thenes looks up at the girl from his seat. "Hm? My own advice...oh." He smiles. "Well, I would never have said it if I didn't mean it." He holds her gaze for a few moments, then looks down again. "And I did mean it." Asrai sits next to Kin, her arms crossed in front of her, head hunkered down in her shoulders, lip stuck out in a decidedly pouty expression that does not even lighten when she sees K'tyn enter the Cavern. Kaliela nods and has a long way to go to get back to Ruatha "I guess I'd better go" R'val tickles Tinya's ribs gently, and kisses her cheek, "Because, my dear. You're silly." He says this very fondly, of course. Drugar walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Kaliela hugs Sisirye and winks at her "you still haven't taken your story circle turn" Kerlyn droops a little under the sudden weight, then swings Trelina up, so she's balanced on her shoulder somewhat like a sack of firestone might be. "You ok up there?" She peers up before starting outside. Benden Weyr> Kassima adores her blue, ayep. I *like* violent chaotic colors, what can I say? ;) Eep, Kin. You should set your dinner on top of that thing and watch it get fried while the screen scrolls. :P ;) Tinya laughs, tickling R'val back briefly before she snuggles against him comfortably. "You're _such_ a help, love," she says teasingly. Kaliela slips her arm around Rannals waits, intending to drag him back to Ruatha with her Emlyn smiles slowly and nods. "I believe you, Thenes." She looks up as some of the other candidates start heading to bed, then looks over at her companion. "Well, it's been a long day, and I've got firestone breaking on my duty roster for the morrow. You'll be around, you said? Looking for your brother?" Trelina says gleefully, "I'm iding on LET!" R'val grins, and slides both arms around TInya, wrapping her against his chest. Sisirye grins "After my turn here I'll be running it for certain! I'll see you soon Kal." Kaliela chuckles and waves to Sis Benden Weyr> Sionelle rolls her eyes. I very nearly skipped right over you Kassi. Lord. How many FLs do you need? Kassima suggests rather belatedly to Tinya, "Because you're stark raving mad? Or a masochist? Pick one of those, or both; I'm betting one would explain it. Heyla, Kiat." K'tyn waves, "G'evening, all. Or should I say, Good morning? Sisirye waves back! And heads for bed. Kaliela heads out the door Sisirye walks towards the inner cavern. Benden Weyr> Asrai liked the purple one too. Great coloring all around Sionelle :) Sionelle finishes cleaning up the mess made by the hatching, and and just slips out quietly before any stray bit of wit can find their way in her direction. Sionelle walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Benden Weyr> Sisirye says, "That was fun!! G'night everyone! See you tomm!" Benden Weyr> Kassima has no idea. Fifty-seven FLs, and it's STILL NOT ENOUGH. Addicted? Me? Well, maybe. Kerlyn squints up at Trelina, not having understood a word of that. "Huh?" Sicne it didn't sound like an outraged yelp of protest, she starts out of the cavern to the bowl. Benden Weyr> Sionelle always wanted to use the word 'eczema' in a desc. :) Night, Sisrye. Tinya grins and calls back, "Must be, if I'm crazy enough to ask after your relatives!" Benden Weyr> Asrai snugs those leaving. Maybe it's overtiredness, maybe it's just the utter shock at the...firelizards?...that cause her to quip so sharply, but quip Kindre does. "Asrai, the Weyrleader made this decision. If you can't listen to him now..." she trails off hoping her words will lead to the finished thought. Sighing, she does smile, "It's not so bad...I'll be there with you, alright?" Managing to see K'tyn's form through the dwindling crowd, she smiles a bit wider, "Evening, Kiat." R'val winks, "S'true, dear." Thenes nods. "Yes, I will be around for a bit. I've been graciously offered a room for a while, while I ask around." He smiles again at her. "Thank you, Emlyn. I'm sure I'll see you again soon." Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Zhai, Sisirye. :) Eczema. I hate to admit it, but I have no clue what that means. :)" Trelina bounces happily on Kerlyn's shoulders as they leave. Asrai haruphs....but winces at Kin's tone, managing somehow to look pouty and sheepish all at the same time. Benden Weyr> Sionelle says, "Skin disease. :)" Benden Weyr> Kerlyn grins. It's realyl scaley dry skin patches. Kerlyn walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Trelina walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Emlyn continues smiling, then reaches across the table to give Thenes' hand a quick squeeze. She rises and turns toward the inner cavern, her firelizard balancing on her shoulder with one arm outstretched for balance. Emlyn walks towards the inner cavern. Benden Weyr> Kassima woo-hoos! What a lovely desc-word. I'll have to remember that one, oh yes. ;) :) Thenes looks after Emlyn thoughtfully for a moment, then is drawn back to the now-sleeping lizard in his arms. He smiles. Benden Weyr> Kindre makes a note to herself: Kassi and Sionelle do not get to do dragons, nopenopenope... ;) Thenes looks around the cavern once before leaving it. Thenes walks towards the inner cavern. Benden Weyr> Kassima wails! Aww, but Kindre...! ;) K'tyn blinks as people speed past him and leave. He wades through the crowd to come to stand near Kindre. "I see Sionelle found some flit-eggs, hm?" Benden Weyr> Sionelle laughs! I did do a green elsemu that had a bit of egg shard stuck to it's foot like 'paper from the necessary'. But the rest have all been normal. Honest! Kassima chuckles and holds up her wrist, upon which is perched the most hideously ugly, freakish, purple-blue hatchling ever seen on the face of the planet. "I think 'twas her gold's clutch, Kiat. How fares it with you?" Rannal enters from the Bowl. Kindre winces quickly, the scrinching barely a flash of expression across her face. Smiling up at bronzerider, she nods. "I believe it was her gold's eggs, to be true. I'm terrible at recognizing them." Pausing to find just the right word, she gives up soon enough. "Interesting hatchlings...Kassi Impressed another blue." K'tyn shakes his head at all the movement. "I am well, though, tis strange for me to be up so early when I've had evening sweeps for three months or so." Benden Weyr> Kassima swears up and down, most of my descs have almost been normal. The HGTTG FL clutch was the only weird one. Honest! And even that wasn't *abnormal*, really... just... um. ;) Benden Weyr> Kerlyn hees. That was a good hatchling though, SIonelle. :) Rannal smiles as Norscree flies over and lands on his shoulder. Rannal smiles as Krono flies over and lands on his shoulder. Benden Weyr> K'tyn wanna log, please? Benden Weyr> Kindre suuuuuures, Kassi ;) Heh, tho the thought of 75 or so ppl running screaming from the Galleries could be fun... ;) Asrai picks at the hem of her tunic, as if having been sentanced to some horrible fate. But one that is too large for her to get out of. Remembering her manors she greets her friend, "Hiya K'tyn." Kassima inclines her head, brow furrowing a bit. "Same duty for the past three months? Hrm. Well, I'm pleased to say that I've been enjoying a day off today m'self." K'tyn nods at Asrai, grinning at her strange expression before looking at Kassima. "Well, it has been almost the same--with a few exceptions." Benden Weyr> Sionelle bugs out. Night, Benden! Benden Weyr> Asrai snugs a sionelle! Benden Weyr> Kindre waves at Sionelle from a safe distance :) Benden Weyr> Kassima tosses Dracuelle some Peeps. Night! :) Asrai picks at her cleanly wraped bandages, "How ya been K'tyn?" Benden Weyr> <Sionelle> There is no safe distance. You underestimate the power of the dark side! Benden Weyr> Sionelle :) Night. Benden Weyr> Tinya snugs an Elle and ooohs at Kassi. Peeps! K'tyn hms? "Oh, I'm well enough, I suppose. Sleepy, yet, at least this morning. And you?" R'val glances at Tinya and hides an emormous grin, but he cannot conceal the impish gleam in his eye as he regards her, and glances expectantly at the Kitchen. Asrai gives a sideways glance at Kin before answering, "Oh, I'm fine." Tinya happens to be looking over toward the others, and thus doesn't notice R'val's suspicious behavior. K'tyn notes the glance, cocking his head to the side a bit. "Indeed? Well, I hope so." He blinks, then comes to a sudden decision. "say, anyone besides me thirsty?" Kassima chuckles at Kiat, and wrinkles her nose a bit. "Having the same duty day after day can't be a delight," she remarks as she carefully sets the sleeping blue Komet on the table beside her. "I've been getting an unusual amount of days off lately m'self, though, and I admit that I'm rather enjoying it." Kindre is obviously tired, the wear of the day catching up to her even as the wine makes her that much more sleepy and, hence, grumpy. "Asrai," she wonders in a deceivingly sweet voice, "I'm not being malicious about this Healer thing. If you don't want to go, don't. But you can be the one to tell P'tran of it." Frowning, she looks at her half-full glass before shaking her head, "I'm fine, thank you Kiat." Asrai's face brightens at the beginning of Kin's words...yet falls at the end. A bit out of sorts herself she says in a tone quite unlike her, "Well you can't take me to the healer's anyway...you're stuck here with Hera." An enormous din is heard from the kitchen, and a number of busy drudges can be seen scurrying about, under the charge of one of the assistant cooks, Ofira's helpers. A simply huge cake, decorated with frosted blue dragon-candies, is carried out very carefully by four drudges who balance it between them. It is placed at the table before Tinya, and a hugely grinning R'val, who stands and announces loudly, "Everyone, I wish you all to know that today is the birthday of my weyrmate and the love of my life, Tinya!" He bows towards his weyrmate, and presents her with a wrapped gift, smiling, "Here ya go, my love. Happy Turnday." He kisses her on the cheek. K'tyn grins at Kassima. "An unusual number of days off? I wonder why? Should I talk with your wingleader to rectify the problem, Kassi?" He nods at Kindre, "Can I bring you a refil... Asrai..." he breaks off at the arrival of a simply huge cake. "Oh, my." Asrai blinks at the comotion turning at the delivery of the cake, "Oh tinya, happy Turn Day!" She says in a somewhat happy voice. Kassima laughs as she watches the cake be brought in, eyeing its rather massive size. "I get the feeling that we're all going to eat well tonight. Let it never be said," she adds, flashing Tinya a grin, "that I would forget to bring a gift to a Turnday celebration." She walks over and sets a small, unwrapped wooden box on the table. "Happy Turnday, Tinya!" "We'll speak later," Kindre informs Asrai in a hushed, almost grated tone before sighing. Finding her smile when the cake is placed before the turn-older bluerider, she says, "Happy turnday, Tinya." R'val rubs his knuckles against his vest, beaming like the feline that landed in the milk barrel. Grinning happily he notes, "You wouldn't imagine how much I had to do to get that cake made. Tis a good thing Ofira's a dear friend." Kassima then turns her head to make a face at Kiat. "Nay, thankee! I'll just appreciate it while I may, and trust that P'tran has good reason for it. Rest assured that I'm nay complaining." K'tyn grins at Rval. "What a treat! Have a joyous celebration, Tinya." R'val grins and waves his arms magnanimously at the crowded room, "C'mon, everyone! This cake's for a celebration! Tinya and I can't eat it alone." Tinya just _stares_ at the simply huge cake, a delighted smile spreading slowly across her features. "Oh," she says very quietly, obviously overcome. She blinks, then suddenly finds the power of motion again, leaping out of her chair to catch R'val in a fierce hug. Laughing happily, she kisses him, babbling thanks through giggles. R'val kisses Tinya many a time as he squeezes her, picks her up, and twirls her about in a generally sickeningly happy display, before plunking her down in her seat with a sound, firm kiss, "Happy Turnday, love." K'tyn grins. "Are you sure you want some cake for yourself, hm? I know /I/ can eat quite a bit...." Asrai glances sideways at Kin, thinking better now of her hasty words, guilt plainly written on her face. R'val laughs and winks at K'tyn, "Then eat away, K'tyn." He snugs Tinya about the waist and mururs, "Yours is the first piece, love. Makea wish as you cut!" Kassima slaps her right hand against her forehead as the public display of affection begins. "Reason number one-hundred thirty-six, and counting," she declares. "One-hundred thirty-seven, one-hundred thirty-eight...." Her count gets higher with every passing second that it continues, though she's obviously hard-put to suppress laughter. Benden Weyr> K'nan says, "Froods and Jubilations." Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "I'll take Froods for 500, Alex!" Benden Weyr> R'val says, "K'nan! LC! Tinya's bday party!" K'tyn grins at Kassi. "you're silly. But I like that in a friend." Kassima laughs and admits candidly to Kiat, "I should probably thank them, actually. Without their nauseating affectionateness, m'list of reasons would be... what was that last count? Oh, right. One-hundred and forty-seven reasons shorter." Tinya laughs harder (if a bit breathlessly from being spun around and kissed) at Kassi's complaint, continuing to giggle as she takes the knife and cuts a corner piece off the cake, saying something only half-coherent about there being more frosting there. She picks up the piece with her fingers and bites into, then grins a frosted smile, mmming dramatically. Asrai mutters to Kindre, "... sorry... I shouldn't... that." R'val claps loudly, beaming at Tinya as she bites into the cake, "I hope you like it! OFira'll be so pleased if you do!" He winks at her and calls out, "Tinya's had her first piece, friends! Everyone, dig in, compliments of Ofira and her staff!" "May I take a piece with me to my weyr," Kindre wonders as she stands. Passing half-empty glass to one of those conveniently passing-by-type Candidates...Benwald, perhaps...she continues to smile. "Forgive me for begging out of the party, but I'm a bit more weary than I realized." Smirking at Kassima, she winks, "I'll have to update my list." Nodding, then, to Asrai, she sighs, "We're going tomorrow, end of dicussion. It'll be fun to hang out in the infirmary," she adds to the end with a grin. "Night all, and happiest of turndays, Tinya." Asrai looks back at the others, remembering to smile, but not partaking in the cake. Instead she offers her congratulations from where she sits. Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "K'nan! *quiverquakefear* :)" R'val smiles warmly at Kindre, "of course. Please take one, Kindre." He squeezes her shoulder, smiling warmly at her, "Take care, friend. Sleep well! The more sleep you get, the more tolerable Herath'll be. "He winks. Asrai nods at Kindre's words, "Yes, Ma'am." Tinya licks frosting from her lips and swallows, though she's still got a bit of the gooey stuff unnoticed on her chin as she says, "It's wonderful, and I'll tell her so tomorrow." She waves in a vague sort of inviting way at the others and the cake, saying, "Help yourselves, and thanks so much, all of you! Thanks,Kindre, and goodnight!" Kassima nods to Asrai. "The Infirmary can be more fun than you think," she says cryptically; Faranth only knows what she means by that. Drawing her ever-present wherry-skewer, she slices a modest piece for herself, then waves the knife to Kin in farewell. "Clear skies, Kin! Fair be the wind and all!" Benden Weyr> Kindre sorries, but her typing sux as does her ability to think :( Sowwy, but I need bed :b :) Benden Weyr> Trelina , having been so kindly escorted back home, curls up against papa's Let and falls alseep. Benden Weyr> R'val HUGS Kindre. SLeep you :) Benden Weyr> Asrai snugs a Kin! Benden Weyr> Tinya snugs a Kin! Benden Weyr> Kassima snugs Kin muchly and knows the feeling; my concentration's just about shot, too. :) Night, Spider-Woman! ;) R'val adds his gift to Kassima's, and those placed there by other friends. He beams, "That's my gift for you love." He winks at Tinya and helps himself to a piece of cake, "I hope you approve." Kindre smiles, waves, snags a piece of cake, and departs the cavern. Kindre walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Benden Weyr> R'val flings a hairy long-legged spider at Kassi ;) K'tyn grins. ""Kassi, kissing is not as bad as you think it is...with the right person. Trust me." He turns t ocatch Tinya stuffing her face with cake, and laughs. "That looks like the right idea..." Then, "Rest well Kindre.See you at a more decent hour." Benden Weyr> Kassima uses her wherry-skewer to slice it in half with a "Hiiiiii-yah!" just for dramatic effect, then thwaps the slices with another knife to send them sailing down R'val's shirt collar. Asrai looks at Kassi like she's gone crazy, but its not too out of the ordinary...she often looks at Kassi in that way. Benden Weyr> Kindre eeeeeeeeks! ;) *giggle* Woo, fun fun night! Thank y'all muchly :) byeeeee Benden Weyr> K'tyn grins at Kassi, and please, y'all, for give these typos. I am messier than normal. Benden Weyr> R'val plucks the spiders out and eats 'em. Yum! Benden Weyr> Asrai acks as her kitten goes crazy. Kassima laughs and comments, "I know *that*, Kiat; I just think being nauseating in public is an entirely different matter." Wiping cake-stuff off of her knife, she sticks it back in her belt and accepts a fork from an ubiquitous passing Candidate. "In fact, I've asked that someone drown me in the Lake if I ever do such a thing m'self. I might nay appreciate it, but 'twould be for m'own good!" R'val laughs softly, "You'll see Kassi, someday." he says, ominously, and pushes another piece of cake at her with a grin. K'tyn grins at R'val, waiting for everyone else to take their piece before he picks up his. Kassima snorts in amusement. "Just keep repeating that, R'val. Won't make it any more true." She stuffs a forkful of cake in her mouth, somehow managing not to get icing all over herself in the process. Asrai gives her head a shake, trying to physically rid herself of her ill mood. R'val merely chuckles at Kassima, eyes gleaming in amusement. Wiping his lips, he kisses Tinya soundly again and grins, "Are you happy?" He asks her, quietly. Tinya eats a couple more bites of her cake, messily, with her fingers, then puts the rest of the piece down on a plate and gets a napkin to wipe her fingers and her mouth with. She scoots the gifts on the table a little closer, then, and picks up R'val's package first. Pausing for a kiss, she nods with a grin. "Very," she says warmly, then turns to removing the wrapping from the present. R'val slides an arm 'round Tinya and mmms as she kisses him, then steps back to let her open his present. He grins anticipatorily. As the gift is unwrapped from it's (naturally) blue paper, a small box is revealed. The box itself gives way to an exquisitely carved dragon of some dark, hard wood. The wood nearly glows with a tanned, healthy sheen of the finest Lemosian hardwood, even though it is painted over in painstaking detail, obviously with many hours of labour, fine paints, and a good brush, it is clearly a work of many hours. The blue shade matches the hide of Tinya's Liath quite closely. The dragon itself seems, almost frozen, in a pose of rearing back in preparation for streaking into the sky. Even the bunched muscles of its powerful hindquarters are carved in near-perfect detail. The gem-like eyes' facets are painted a blue only slightly lighter than the hide. Benden Weyr> K'tyn sighs, I can't deal with this client. :) Be back when I can get something better. Asrai coments in an awed voice, "Oh R'val...that's lovely." Benden Weyr> Asrai snugs a K'tyn1 R'val's lips twitch upwards in a warm, pleased smile at asrai's compliment, and he nods, though his dark eyes remain fixed on Tinya's face, waiting for her expression. K'tyn grins at the gift as he hefts his portion of the cake. R'val, you're a charmer! Keep it up...Excuse me, one and all, but Lys' will have my hide if I'm not out on duty!" K'tyn walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Kassima whistles as she sees the carved dragon. "A marvelous work, R'val." Tinya's eyes go almost impossibly wide as she lifts the little carving out of its wrapping. She stares at it, silently, holding it up to the light and turning it this way and that, examining the detail. It takes her several minutes to realize she actually ought to _say_ something, and she breathes softly, "Oh, love, it's _incredible_." Okay, not particularly original, but judging from her expression obviously heartfelt. R'val leans down and kisses Tinya's cheek gently, "I know how much you wanted one, lover.' he murmurs to her, a loving smile on his face. Asrai stands with a slight yawn "I am sorry to take off like this...but I'd better go get some sleep if I am to finish my chores..and gototheheaerl's tomorrow." She says that middle bit in a rush, as if trying to make it less painful. "Umm, happy turnday tinya...night all." Asrai walks towards the inner cavern. K'nan walks in from the bowl. Kassima yawns and nods to Asrai, far too belatedly. "I'm nay long from sleep m'self," she murmurs. "At least, nay at this rate...." Nonetheless, she seems to have enough energy to keep eating cake. Tinya looks up into R'val's eyes, smiling warmly. "Thank you so much, Uri," she says quietly. A moment or two later, her smile quirks into a grin as she says, "And now I'd best open Kassi's gift before she starts counting again." She sets the little dragon down, fingers lingering a possessive instant on it, and reaches for the small wooden box, lifting its lid. K'nan walks in from the bowl, smiling softly to himself. He looks around the cavern, focusing on the gathered 'riders and walking over with idle curiousity. "Hey, guys...'sup?" R'val laughs softly, shaking his head with a wry grin, "Best to open it. If I know Kassi, it'll be spectacular." He smiles over at the loony greenrider, and waves to K'nan, 'K'nan! Come have a piece of Tinya's birthday cake." Benden Weyr> Kassima decides to Spam the LC, since everyone +watching is in here, anyway. Any objections? :) *SnugsanAsrai.* Nighters! :) Kassima leans over in her chair, setting down the now-empty plate in order to watch. The small box doesn't really look like all that much on the surface. True, the wood it's been carved out of is a handsome shade of rich mahogany, rubbed smooth to a satiny sheen so that it seems to glow warmly by sunlight or glowlight, but it is not heavily engraved. It could even be called simplistic. A fanciful, swirling T can be found on the lid, surrounded by a half-circle of what looks to be a design much like intricately knotted thread; however, this is the only ornamentation. Sliding open the small metal catch allows one to see the box's purpose: the deep interior is padded almost to the lid, with a small swatch of blue velvet dyed a bright blue that comes close to the shade of Liath's hide even though it doesn't quite match it. Thin horizontal lines of red thread cross with vertical lines of black thread to section the material off into many tiny 'compartments,' as it were; what these are meant for, obviously, are needles. Why is this obvious? Probably because there *are* needles, shining metal needles of various sizes, placed in each one. The needles range from small enough for very fine work indeed to large enough for more detailed embroidery, though each is of a size to fit neatly within the wooden container with room to spare. K'nan blinks, looking surprised. "Tinya?? It's your Turnday? And no-one told me?" He walks over, tsking. "Hmph." R'val grins, "Tis indeed, K'nan. Come enjoy some cake." K'nan walks over and smiles, "Happy Turnday, Tinya..." Tinya runs her finger across the carving on the box's top admiringly, but it's the contents that really make her catch her breath. Swiftly she plucks one of the tiniest needles from its resting place, holding it up to the light with a beaming smile as she examines the exquisite workmanship. Poking that one back in its spot, she takes out another, and another, the grin ratcheting wider with each until it seems it must split her face in half. "Kassi, these are fantastic!" she exclaims. "They're just _perfect_! You shouldn't have, really!" She puts the latest of the prizes back in its cushion and grins over, adding, "But I'm _awfully_ glad you did! Thanks!" Kassima grins broadly, and lifts one shoulder in a half-shrug. "What can I say? I thought mayhaps you could use them. Happy Turnday, second-most nauseating of blueriders." She winks good-naturedly. Tinya blinks, since she hadn't seen K'nan come in, and smiles back at him. "Thanks, K'nan. Have some cake?" she offers, waving a hand at the remains of the simply huge confection. Benden Weyr> Tinya wonders idly....is a Simply Huge Cake any relation to a Perfectly Normal Sandwich? K'nan chuckles softly, "Thanks, Tinya....wish I could've brought you something." He frowns a little, "Didn't know you were having a turnday, though...ah-ha!" He turns, "Be right back." K'nan walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Benden Weyr> R'val thinks so :) K'nan walks in from the bowl. K'nan walks back into the cavern, carrying a crudly-wrapped bundle of something as he heads over to the others again. He smiles, "Well...t'isn't much, but I couldna let a friend's Turnday go by w'out a gift.." Benden Weyr> Kassima thinks it's also related to a Bundle of Something. ;) R'val blinks at K'nan and grins, "That's very sweet of you K'nan!" Kassima eyes the bundle of something, one eyebrow arching upwards. "Dare I ask what?" she wonders with a grin. Benden Weyr> K'nan brings the dynamite into the LC... ;) Tinya grins. "That's really great of you, K'nan!" She holds out her hands for the mysterious bundle, eager to see what he's come up with on short notice. K'nan hands the bundle to Tinya with a shrug, "As I said..not much I could come up with on such sort notice." It's a bit heavy, and fairly elongated in shape. Kassima eyes K'nan now. "That's nay a cradle, is it?" she asks suspiciously. "Last time I saw a bundle like that, 'twas Meli's Turnday gift to me." Tinya hmms at the shape and weight of the bundle, but doesn't venture a guess, at least aloud. Instead, she unwraps it carefully, wary lest the swift packaging give way unexpectedly and make her drop it. R'val grins, "I senses a recurring theme." As the crude wrappings come off, the makeshift present is revealed to be a glass bottle...filled with some dark liquid. From the slightly peeling, yellowing label on the bottle, it's a bottle of Benden Red..and not a new one. The pressing of a good eleven Turns ago, actually. K'nan chuckles softly, "Y'have a new weyr t'break in, after all...should always do it with a good bottle a'Red." R'val's eyes widen as he peers at the bottle and reads the vintage. He whistles, impressed. Kassima ooohs as she eyes the bottle. "Is that anything like Saer's wine, K'nan?" K'nan chuckles softly at that question, "No...that's all gone, regretfully." He looks a bit mournful, "Last bottle went t'Aph when she headed out to Telgar, 'while back." Tinya holds the bottle up to the light, reading the label with an appreciative smile. She looks up at K'nan, beaming. "It's wonderful, thank you," she says simply. "I doubt I could have come up with a better gift even with time to think about it." K'nan smiles back down to Tinya, relaxing a bit. "Oh, good..glad y'like it. Short notice, an' all..." Tinya reiterates reassuringly, "It's wonderful," and adds, "I'll look forward to drinking it." Kassima nods thoughtfully. "Aye, I recall that... well! This should just about wind up this spate of Turndays, thank Faranth. 'Twill give me a bit of time to get my belt-pouch full again a'fore the next span." K'nan smiles again, nodding. "You're welcome.." He leans over and lightly kisses the bluerider on the forehead, grinning a bit as he settles down into a chair nearby. "And again, happy turnday." Benden Weyr> K'nan suddenly remembers that he has to get up in 6.5 hours. Aie. Benden Weyr> R'val peers at K'nan. Benden Weyr> Kenai eeks! Tinya smiles as she replies to K'nan's good wishes with, "It has been a happy one." K'nan smiles softly, "Good..." He glances back towards the bowl, "Hm? What? Oh...shardit." He gets up to his feet, and sighs, "Gotta go....see you all later, prolly. Clear skies." K'nan walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Benden Weyr> K'nan says, "Night, all! *SNUGS*" Benden Weyr> Tinya snugs a K'nan! Benden Weyr> R'val says, "Night K'nan!" R'val kisses Tinya on the cheek, "How did you enjoy your party, love?" He asks, eyes gleaming with satisfaction. Kassima yawns again, and looks faintly apologetic. "I'm afraid I should retire, m'self; nay the best company at this time of night. Happy Turnday again, Tinya, and clear skies t'you both!" You walk down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.
