It was a fun Hatching, though, and I had a blast with its concept. :) For the Istan Spiderclaw Festival, several small toys and notes were hidden all around the Weyr. Finding some would win you an egg from a fire-lizard clutch; some would not. Poor Kassi had to hunt all *over* the place before she had any luck. I imagine it wreaked merry havoc on her Gather finery. ;) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Log: You backwing for a landing. You slide off of Lysseth's neck to land beside her easily. She rumbles, cocking her head down at you, and you rub her eyeridges gratefully. Ymedath croons a soft greeting toward Lysseth. Duzorth rumbles a greeting to lysseth Lysseth rumbles amiably in return, flipping her wings back once her beskirted rider has dismounted. Kassi gives her lifemate's shoulder a quick slap, murmuring an injunction to behave. You walk past the lintel and into the wide living cavern. Pierron humphs thoughtfully as the Wingleader of Thunderbolt arrives. Kassima: Kassima is a woman gifted magnanimously by genetics: one would likely guess her to be younger than her actual age thanks to high cheekbones and a brow lines dare not touch, and metabolism and height have both dealt a good hand in her 5'10" build. Her current choice of garb underlines these advantages--albeit in an unusual fashion. Rather than leathers, she's wearing a dress of blue linen that's elegant in its own simplicity; modest of neckline, poofy of sleeves, and with a pattern of frills that begins somewhere around the knees and ends at the floor-sweeping hem, it's certainly odd for the greenrider, but not so very unbecoming. However, is that *lace* that edges the snug velvet bodice? Except for her rings (+detail available), most of Kassi's jewelry has clearly been chosen to match this outfit: a silver chain has been threaded through her calf-length midnight hair, from which a dark blue stone hangs suspended just above and between her brows; a spray of tiny silver-set sapphires dangles from each ear. An argent choker is clasped around her neck, with a large, dark, oval-cut sapphire resting in the pale hollow of her throat. Though she wears no sign of rank nor affiliation, something about her manner and carriage--the light in her canted emerald eyes, perhaps--could suggest this woman to be a dragonrider. T'lean waves as Kassi enters, finishing off the last of his klah Zaidra rises again to offer Kassima a jaunty salute. "Afternoon, Wingleader Kassima," is the girl's cheery greeting, before she sits again. Shawnah chuckles at Kindre, but bobs her head, "Suit yourself." she says with a wink, and then stands, "You know what.. you're right." she says to Zaidra, and stands. "Are you going too?" she asks. She blinks then as Zaidra stands, salutes, and sits, and turns. "Oh, afternoon Kassima!" "May your spleen and your intestines elect to arm-wrestle each other until you collapse in a twitching, spasming heap on the floor, and may a lecherous, flight-lost rider of intense ugliness see you in this condition and take advantage of it," Kassi wishes Pierron, very cheerfully, in response to his greeting. He seems somehow unimpressed. "G'deve t'you, too, Zaidra, and everyone else... shards, d'you have t'stand up *too*? Could we pretend I'm nay anyone salutable, at least for the day? I could pretend t'be someone else if'n 'twould help. A young Holdgirl dressed up for her first Gather, mayhaps, or a renegade in disguise." Zaidra shakes her head. "Maybe later. Right now, P'me's the only other weyrling who's interested." She laughs, then, at the wingleader's query, and offers, "Weyrling calisthenics, ma' - um - Kassima." Shawnah blinks at Kassima, looks over at Pierron, and just shakes her head, laughing. "Nice one." she compliments, and then gives the greenrider a toothy grin and starts to lift her own hand in salute. She seems to think better of it, though, as instead she gestures toward the bowl. "I'm off to find a ride then.. see you all later!" Kindre's eyes widen just slightly at Kassima's greeting to Pierron. Along the side of one of the hides before her, she begins to scritch down what might be part of what the Wingleader said. Once done, she nods to Shawnah, smiling, and then waves rather cheerfully at her dear friend. "Heya Kassi! How fares with you this day?" S'dar walks in from the bowl. Pierron frowns and mutters under his breath as he walks over to guard the bubbly pies from that bronzeriding scalliwag. Pierron tosses some dough into the air to make it as thin as a sheet to make baklava. Kassima gripes good-naturedly, "Why May couldn't stick t'having you do push-ups in the Bowl--" She ambles to the food table, skirts whispering over the floor, and quickly claims both a mug and the cider pitcher. "Ride to where?" she wonders of Shawnah. "To the Istan shindig? Methinks there's a group headed that way shortly, or if'n you can wait half a moment, you can catch a ride with me... heyla, Kin! Nay poorly, nay poorly at all." S'dar offers a friendly smile and a salute. "A pleasant afternoon!" he bids in his customary cheery manner. "It is good to see you all today." S'dar adds, "oh, and High Reaches duties." Telgar Weyr> Shawnah /loves/ some of these responses Pierron has. :) Kindre's eyes brighten just a touch more as S'dar enters, and she offers him a wide smile and greeting of, "Hi S'dar! Duties to the Reaches as well and all that." Returning her glance to Kassima, she bobs her head and grins. "Good to hear, to be true. You're heading there as well? Shards. Mayhaps I should quicken my pace at the hides and meet you all out at Ista in an hour or so." Zaidra rises again, this time making a show of it for Kassima's amusement, and salutes S'dar, offering her own, "Telgar's duties, sir." to him. She sits once more, and then, finally, sips from her mug. T'lean waves to s'dar, still sitting back in his chair and sets his mug down, deciding no more klah for now S'dar gives Kindre a large smile, and then returns Zaidra's salute. "Ista... ah, that thing going on, huh?" he says cryptically. "Might be fun." S'dar returns T'lean's wave and offers a polite nod in greeting. "Afternoon to you." Shawnah nods to Kassima, "That I was.. and okie." she leans against the table. A hand lifts to wave to S'dar. "Hiya S'dar! Umm.. yeah, Telgar's Duties!" she frowns a moment, "Seems weird saying that.." Kassima raises her now-full mug to Zaidra in salute, before tipping it back to gulp down half its contents. "*Faranth*, that's lovely. Hope Ista can boast of drinks half as fun--i'truth, Kin, 'twas Lysseth's idea. She's *on* again about us getting out and about more, and the fact that 'tis a warm, sunny island only encourages her. Dreadful wench. But certes you should come--how long has it been since we terrorized a Gather together?" She wiggles her brows to S'dar, an evident gesture of agreement; along with, "Heyla, Sandy...." Followed by another gulp of cider, almost draining the mug. "Were you going, too?" S'dar grins at Shawnah. "I always forget to offer my duties, when I'm here," he says as he heads over to sit near the group, beside Kindre if there's a spot nearby. "Seems I am here quite often." He shrugs to Kassima. "Hadn't thought about going," he smiles, "but then, I don't usually plan those sort of things... just end up going, or not." T'lean hmmms, "Been a really long time since I've been to a gather. I should get more exercise so my bones won't decide to fuse together." Kassima polishes off the cider with a final swallow and places the emptied cup where such things go. "You're welcome t'be coming along with us," she invites. "So's anyone else who wishes... I'm ready when you are, Shawnah; just say when." Kindre laughs and bobs her head at Kassima. "I'm certain Herath will be more forward in the coming months. Still coming out of the Hatching tingles and watching the weyrling dragons grow right now," she says with a chuckle. A wider smile, this one to S'dar as he sits down, curls her lips. "Have you been to the nurseries to visit Indar? Can hardly believe he's four months already," she remarks. A grin goes T'lean's way at his words before she shakes her head at Kassima. "I'll likely be meeting you all there in just a bit. Don't want to miss it, but have -got- to get some of this work out of the way." Shawnah beams and straightens. "I'm ready." she says, and then glances over to S'dar and T'lean. S'dar grins at Kindre, looking quite proud. "Aye," he agrees, "it is hard to believe." Zaidra asks, "May I join? You're not /my/ mentor, but Maylia said we could go with any of her staff or /any/ mentor. Do you count?" Kassima bobs her head agreeably to her friend, and offers a wink. "I'll keep m'eye out for any presents that might suit your lad in the meanwhile, in case you do come and want t'do some shopping," she suggests, grinning. "Easy enough, since I'll probably get lured into looking for things for Kiss. Surely, Zai--I'm nay a mentor, but V'dan is, and he's coming along with me, along with Maidil." She being his mentee, evidently. "So that should suit, aye?" T'lean gets up and streaches, "Slept like a baby, but I'm still tired. I'll prolly head over myself. It will keep me up" Zaidra grins, "I think it does." Kindre's eyes widen and, again, her head bobs agreeably. "Wonderful, Kassi. I have collected only a few things for him so far and have some marks to burn," she says. "So I'll certainly be looking for you all in no more than an hour or so." Kassima flashes T'lean a grin. "*Between* always serves t'wake me up," she concurs. "If'n aught can! All right, then--'twill look forward to it, Kin!--let's head off, shall we?" The greenrider turns for the Bowl exit, with a last finger-wiggle back to the Cavernsfolk. You walk down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Shawnah comes out of the short tunnel from the living cavern. Zaidra comes out of the short tunnel from the living cavern. Kassima strides to where Lysseth lounges, V'dan's green Chymeth and Maidil's blue Masth having joined her sometime during the interim. "Ready?" the greenrider wonders of the pair. Having received a pair of amiable head-bobs, she rucks up her skirt and reaches for her dragon's straps. You place one hand on Lysseth's neck and she warbles down at you fondly. You grin and scratch her eyeridges once before climbing up onto her lower neckridges, using the riding straps and Lysseth's thoughtfully offered foreleg. <*> Zaidra smiles to Ymedath, "Wake up, love, we're going somewhere warm." <*> Zaidra uses the riding straps to vault into position astride Ymedath, giving him a friendly pat. Kassima then, once buckled in, leans down to offer Shawnah a hand up. "Lyss approves of you as a passenger," she calls with a grin; the green turns her head just enough to direct a snort back at her rider. "So there shouldn't be any trouble." Shawnah accepts Kassima's proffered hand and swings up onto Lysseth's lower neckridges, settling herself behind Kassima carefully. Kassi grins and reassures the dubious Lysseth that Shawnah is safe, and the green faces forward as her rider gets ready to fly. <*> From Ymedath's neck, Zaidra buckles herself into the straps. <*> Lysseth's wings flutter ever so slightly at this overheard reminder of warmth, her flanks tensing in her anticipation of flight, of sun, of surf. "Need any help with the straps?" Kassi inquires, turning back a bit. Telgar Weyr> Shawnah hees! http://squee.freehosting.net/shawnah/shawnah.jpg :) Telgar Weyr> Schmitt says, "Gotta love those keys." Telgar Weyr> Kassima oohs! I like that pic! Shawnah smiles and shakes her head as she straps herself in. "I've got it.. I think." Telgar Weyr> Schmitt says, "One heck of a big knot though." <*> Ymedath's tail churns the ground in anticipation, and he croons plaintively, asking to fly. Telgar Weyr> Daryan says, "Shawnah has blue hair?" Telgar Weyr> Schmitt says, "you guys wanna check out my dragon anatomy/movement thoughts?" Telgar Weyr> Daryan nodnods, "Sure," Telgar Weyr> Shawnah grins at Schmitt. "It's drawn like the ones I saw people wearing at D*C ;) *noddles to Dary.. and Schmitt, for that matter* ;) Telgar Weyr> Schmitt says, "http://www.angelfire.com/mt/schmitt2/movement.htm" Telgar Weyr> Daryan always imagined the knot as hanging off the shoulder, not wrapped around it Telgar Weyr> Schmitt would love comments. Or arguments. ;) Just don't diss the MSPaint drawings ;) "Good, good," Kassi approves, swivelling back around to face forward; at the same moment, Lyss rears back on her haunches in preparation for the sky. Fly? Let's! Telgar Weyr> Schmitt says, "Me too, Dary." <*> Lysseth springs from the ground, the air from her wings churning up dust as she takes to the skies. You spring into the air and catch the thermals rising from the bowl floor to carry you aloft. <*> Ymedath rises up from the bowl. Telgar Weyr> Kassima agrees with Daryan. I've seen it both ways, though, and yeah, usually worn around the shoulder at D*C. :) The rim of the bowl falls away from you and you soar into the open skies. <*> Ymedath flies up from the northern half of the bowl. <*> Lysseth circles once, flirting her tail to the watchrider--and then, *between*. Telgar Weyr> Aisling has seen drawings both ways in the DLG, but it makes sense for some to be wrapped around. <*> Lysseth disappears into Between. Between You gasp as the icy black nothingness of Between surrounds you! You hear nothing, see nothing, and feel nothing. The trip takes five heartbeats... Black... Blacker... Blackest! You suddenly emerge... <*> Lysseth emerges from Between with a blast of cold air! <*> Ymedath emerges from Between with a blast of cold air! <*> Duzorth emerges from Between with a blast of cold air! Dragon> Ymedath bespoke Lysseth and Duzorth with << Most folks are parking on the Beach. >> Lysseth> Duzorth and Ymedath sense that Lysseth accepts this with a ripple of blue. << Then so should we, my rider suggests, >> and suits flight-action to word. The wind is brisk and feels good under your wings, supporting your wings firmly as you glide lower into the bowl. You fly west, meeting the headwinds and flying to the corrals. You fly to the widest part of the beach and land. <*> Medron says "Could anyone help me find someof the eggs? I haven't really been to Ista before, and I'm getting lost..." <*> Alaida glances over at MEdron. "What are you having a problem with? " <*> Medron sighs, "About everything, I can't find my way around, and I keep on thinking of whre they might be, but then, when I get there, everyones already been and gone" <*> T'lean gives Duzorth a soft pat while taking off some of his riding gear, "Wow, been a long time since I've been to Ista." <*> Angling for a place far enough away that her descent might not disturb the festivities, Lysseth lands on a swath of beach with some displacement of sand; once the air has settled, she lowers her neck delicately for benefit of her passengers. "Here we are," Kassi announces, her tone bright. "And 'tis just as warm and sweltering as ever... Lyss's flying didn't disturb your stomach, Shawnah, I'm hoping?" <*> Tavin appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Shawnah gazes down at the scene below her, expression curious. "Woah.." she mutters, pulling up her sleeves, "Warm." with that, she grins. "Naw... she's fun!" she gives the green hide under her a little scritch, "Thanks, both of you!" with that, she slides down. Shawnah unbuckles herself from Lysseth's straps and climbs back down to the ground, looking a little disoriented from the flight. You slide off of Lysseth's neck to land beside her easily. She rumbles, cocking her head down at you, and you rub her eyeridges gratefully. Alaida nods to Medron about that. "I'm sorry about that. Just keep trying. Standing around here isn't helping find one. " T'lean waves over at Kassi and winks, "I ws beginning to think you got lost." Shawnah glances around again as she lands, absently waving at her face, "What's happening?" she asks those closest by, and then quickly adds, "Telgar's duties, by the way.." that's directed toward a group in Istan knots. Lysseth rumbles quietly in response to the scritching, even as she settles into a casual sprawl in her chosen spot. Kassi accuses the dragon, "You're naught but a giant beach bum, I'm swearing. But you're quite welcome! Ach, now, T'lean, we wouldn't get *lost*... though I'll admit that Ista confuses me. I haven't visited oft enough t'know where aught is." Giving her skirts a quick tug, she calls amiably to the people milling about, "Duties t'Ista and her queens! Shells, 'tis looking as if'n we've come in the middle of busy-ness." Alaida glances over at the visiting Telgari and smiles. "Ista Weyr's duties to Telgar Weyr and her queens. " Salek walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Devath finally opens her eyelids from her dozing in the sunlight to watch all the activity. She rumbles softly, then gives a small croon to the visiting dragons in greeting. Alaida smiles to Shawnah. "There is a Treasure Hunt going on for finding winning eggs to get one of Calista's eggs. " She motions to the clutch next to her, nessled in the hot, black sand. T'lean chuckles softly at Kassi's comments to Lysseth, "Maybe if you took her out more often she wouldn't be such a beach bum?" Shawnah looks to the clutch, and tilts her head a moment before grinning back to Alaida. "Hmm.. sounds fun!" she says, "So... are there rules? I mean, like, do we get hints as to where to search or anything?" Kassima protests, "I take her out plenty often; she *should* get all the sun any dragon needs from our trips t'Boll and the Lounge, but is it enough for her? Never." Dragon and rider exchange glances of fond exasperation, and then Kassi turns to listen with curiousity to the Headwoman's conversation. "That sounds rather interesting," she comments. "Have many been found yet? D'you have any 'lizards, Shawnah?" Chaia walks up the long winding path to the top of the plateau. T'lean chuckles and tsk tsk at Kassi, "But variety. I bet she likes variety" Alaida smiles, chuckling. "I am aware that one winning egg has been found, but I am sure others have been. The rules are simple: only one winning egg allowed per person and only one prize egg. " She holds up a simple, hard wherhide egg. "These are what the eggs look like. If you find a firelizard plushie with a number on a piece of hide, that is a winning egg for an egg in Calista's clutch. Alaida says "Avoid the Hatching Sands and private areas. All hidden eggs are in public areas." Salek comes bounding up holding a blue plushy with a number '12' attached. "I got one! I got one!" ............................................................................ Treasure Hunt Rules These are the rules of the Treasure Hunt. Please be aware, that at anytime you have questions, you are very welcome to page me and I will answer. 1. The Treasure Hunt starts at 2 pm CST (3pm EST, 1 pm MST, noon PST) and ends at 8 pm CST (9 pm EST, 7 pm MST, 6 pm PST). 2. No one may get more than one winning egg. A winning egg is defined by getting a FL egg from Calista's clutch. 3. If you find a winning egg, you may continue in the hunt. There is more out there than winning eggs. There are also prize eggs. What are in these eggs, you'll have to discover. If you find a winning egg and a prize egg, please stop the hunt and leave the rest for others who haven't found any. Don't be greedy. I will know who wins what. 4. Questions, comments, and other information can be directed to myself. I'm sorry, but this hunt is a first come, first serve. If you can't be there until 7 pm EST, I'm very sorry. You are still welcome to attempt to search, but can't promise anything. 5. After 9 pm EST, I will be announcing if all the eggs have been found or if they haven't. At that time, if they haven't, I will let people dash out and find them. Again, if you already found a prize egg and a winning egg, please don't unless everyone involved has, then everyone can go out to find the unfound eggs. 6. Hatching will start at 10 pm EST on the nose for all those there. You don't need to be there for your egg. I will just run the hatching another time for your egg. 7. HAVE FUN! Happy Hunting! ............................................................................ Chaia walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Medron sighs, "I've basically given up, I'm just staying here in the hope that some-ones finds one and doesn't want it" Alaida glances over at Salek, then laughs, smiling brightly. "Well, that's a second one. Congradulations, Salek! Which number is that? " Salek grins. "One-two." Shawnah gives Kassima a sheepish smile and nods, "Yeah.. when I was a candidate.. that little bronze I got in deep trouble with K'ran over?" she nods to Alaida then, and looks around thoughtfully, a beam sent toward the bouncy winner. Alaida grins. "Twelve. " then she searches around in the clutch while being careful not to touch the eggs. She points to the Teardrop moonstone one. "That's yours when it hatches. " T'lean hmms, "Well, guess I'll go looking around...maybe find something" and gives a short wave T'lean heads towards the waterfall. Salek claps his hands excitedly. "What color's it going to be? A blue like the plushy or something else?" Alaida laughs. "I dunno. You gotta wait for it to hatch. " Kassima bobs her head in acknowledgment of the points, and casts a glance to Shawnah. "Care t'be hunting? It sounds a fun pasttime... oh, Faranth, I remember that. I remember," she adds, amused, "pretending nay t'see that." Calista looks a bit nervous with all these people dashing about and gives a nervous hiss. She shifts herself, moving her claws to pull sand over her eggs and hovers over them protectively. Boy she is a very broody little queen! Salek plops down on the sand, watching the clutch intently, looking for all the world like he plans to wait there until the eggs hatch. Alaida turns to Calista and reaches over to her eyeridges to scritch them. She pauses only a second when Calista raises a claw. "Don't you dare, Calista. Just relax. I'm not going to hurt your eggs. " then she scritches the little queen's eyeridges once the claw is lowered. Shawnah giggles. "Yeah.. for a few moments after he latched to me, and K'ran gave me that -look-, I thought sure he was going to make me put him back in his shell or something. She chuckles, patting the area on her shoulder the bronze usually sits, "He was sleeping last I saw though.. and hunting sounds like fun.." she glances around a moment, then picks a random direction and starts going that way. Alaida sighs and looks over at Chaia, frowning. "I am not sure I should have brought the clutch here. Calista is just too nervous. I'm getting that she's scared people will hurt her eggs. " Shadra walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Shadra weaves her way throught he group and heads for Alaida. "I found one." Zynassa walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Alaida glances over to Shadra and smiles. "Great! Which number did you find? " Shawnah heads to the south end of the beach. Tavin walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Kassima nods slow agreement with the sentiment and chooses a direction of her own, a few of her fire-lizards following suit. Lyss watches this spectacle with blue, vasly amused eyes. What a climb! You manage to trudge your way *all* the way up to the top of the plateau, up the long winding trail. You realize again why this beach visit is always so tiring. [Editor's Note: At this point, I spent a great deal of time wandering in and out of rooms to no avail. ;) I've cut out all my enter/exit messages to spare you.] Telgar Weyr> Daryan says, "Kewl page, Schmitt. :)" Lysseth> Zynassa comes down the trail from the plateau, looking extremely discheveled and untidy, with bits of sand and sap streaking her clothes. She is loaded down with a bunch of what appear to be prizes, and calls to Lysseth and Kassima, "Hey! Did Kay come with you?!" Missing the rider, she laughs and instead offers to the green, "Well, it's good to see you both at any rate. I'll give most of this stuff to the littles." Telgar Weyr> Macami swoons and has scientific fiancee.:) Telgar Weyr> Schmitt says, "Danke. *baps Cami*" Lysseth> Medron grins, he'd given up due to getting lost so much Lysseth> Salek is sitting almost on top of the firelizard clutch. He waves cheerfully to Zynassa. "Hey! I found one and I get an egg! One-two, Twelve! Did you get an egg too?" Lysseth> Lysseth ducks her head to greet Zynassa with a low warble, the end of which trails into a laugh--at rider's foibles, perhaps. Lysseth> Zynassa nods to Salek, "I'm glad you found one, Salek, because I swear I think I tramped all over the weyr to make sure you got one." She holds out the bronze 'lizard doll. "Number five, Alaida." She gives Chaia a wry look, "No *wonder* you've been so busy the last few days." She automatically drifts towards the green to offer an eyeridge drubbing. "Chaeth didn't come with you, did he, Lysseth?" She looks up and down the beach for her mother and her brown. Lysseth> T'mren returns to Chaia's side with two glasses of wine, smiling, "There's a lot left too love. Looks like people are more interested in eating than drinking for onc.e" Lysseth> Lysseth cants her head to place her eyeridges within easy reach, leaning shamelessly into the touch. Her head shakes just slightly at the question, a mimicry of a human gesture of negation. Lysseth> Medron looks at Zynassa, "Err... I'm from 'reaches and I was wondering if you could help me around whilst I'm searching, I gave up last time because I kept on getting lost" Lysseth> Salek grins at Zynassa. "It was fun looking! I found a necklace, too. It's pretty, but boys don't wear necklaces. You want it?" he digs in his pocket and pulls it out, offering it to her. "Who's Chaeth?" he asks as an afterthought. Lysseth> Alaida smiles to Shadra then looks at the clutch while scritching Calista's eyeridges - no doubt trying to calm the poor nervous queen. "That's the one you got. " and she founds to the black laced white marble egg. Lysseth> Shadra smiles. "I got number 13 Lysseth> Alaida points to the... Lysseth> Carissa bounces in. Lysseth> Chaia takes a cup of wine gratefully, and sips. "Thanks, love." Never mind that she's never asked for wine before, and never mind that she rarely drinks. Lysseth> Zynassa scrubs Lysseth's 'ridges with a slightly grubby hand. "Ah well. I need to get back up that way." She nods to Medron, "Sure, just let me rest a bit, and I'll head back out with you. I'm Zynassa, by the way. One of Grissa's assistants here." Salek gets a smile and a nod, "You sure you don't want to give that to Yina? And Chaeth's my mother's brown. She's a rider up at Telgar. Though I doubt Chaeth's quite as big as your papa's Semeth." You walk the long, long trail down to the beach. Sand and grit make the going slippery, as the trail grows steep at times. After a long while, you end up on the dark sands of the beach. Radar walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. T'mren watches his weyrmate curiously, and asks her, quietly, "You asked for wine. A rare occurence. what's going on in that head of yours, my love?" Kassima wipes at her brow with a kerchief as she finishes her descent from the plateau, pausing in whatever course she was planning to steal back close to her crooning dragon. "I always thought Chaeth big enough," she observes to Zynassa, grinning, "but one's biased towards their Search dragon, I'm told. G'day, Zynassa--Lyss mentioned that I missed you, a'fore she got her brain all fuzzed by scritchings." Salek makes an awful face. "Noooooooo! Yina's got girl-cooties," he says. "I'm not giving her nothing." Shadra cuddles the golden plushie with the hide number in it's claws. Aerilyn walks towards you from the southern beaches. Medron hums, "Ready yet?" Radar walks down to the beach yelling, "I found an egg plushie! It looks like a firelizard and has a number in its talons. So I get an egg, right?" Chaia asks, "What number?" Shadra looks at Radar. "What number did you get? Zynassa grins at Kassi, "Off hunting for those eggs, hm? I swear I walked over half the weyr before I finally got one. It's good to see you - Kay didn't come, did she?" She rather maturely sticks out her tongue at Salek, "Does not. *I'm* a girl y'know. And I don't have girl cooties." A nod is given to Medron and she reluctantly parts from Lysseth enough to grab a skin of juice. Alaida points to each egg to those that won which. Aerilyn laughs and grins at Radar, 'well you did better than me then...I just found a bracelet.": Shadra looks at Zynassa. "You should get some of those leaves out of your hair." she chuckles. "Did you loose a fight with a Clingy vine?" Radar checks the hide scrap again and says, "It says #3. So I get that one." Zynassa grins at Shadra, "Palm tree. Climbed all the way up, only to find a note making fun of me." "I'truth--though I suspect I'm too late t'find any," Kassi ruefully admits, "given that I've never known Ista all that well... but nay, Kay isn't here unless she's caught a ride with someone else. Nay impossible these days." She flicks a grin and heads towards the waterfall, Lyss allowing Zynassa to depart with only a small, pitiful sound. Awww. Poor widdle gween. You head towards the waterfall. [Editor's Note: Yep, more wandering ensued, and has also been cut out.] Lysseth> Aerilyn heads towards Carissa, grinning at her recent partner in crime, "at least you found one eh?" Lysseth> Salek sticks his tongue back out at Zynassa. "That's just 'cause you're a big girl, so you don't count. Anyway, Yina's annoying." Lysseth> Shadra walks up the long winding path to the top of the plateau. Lysseth> Alaida glances to Radar, grinning. "Well well..This one is yours." and she points to the corresponding egg to the number.. no really she does. Lysseth> Tavin heads towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Zynassa grins at Salek, "So, are you coming with me and this poor lost 'Reaches lad, Salek? Catch up to us if you want." She nods to Medron, "Ready? Let's go give it another go." Lysseth> Medron pokes /his/ tounge out at Salek, "Big Girls can be annoying! Ever met the Cook at 'Reaches?" Lysseth> Shawnah appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Lysseth> Medron heads towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Zynassa heads towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Carissa eyes the brown plushie and snorts, "Guess so.." Fiero leans foreward and snorts at the brown.. Brown.. how.. demeaning! The bronze wags his tail and peers at the chubby blue on his pet's other shoulder. Not as bad as blue though. Lysseth> Shadra walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Lysseth> Radar looks at his pale blue egg and says, "Well, it's not pink. That's good." Then he remembers his promise, and falls silent. Lysseth> Shadra looks at Radar and grins impishly, and shows off the Dark Lapis. Lysseth> Aerilyn heads to the south end of the beach. Lysseth> Tavin walks towards you from the southern beaches. Lysseth> Shadra looks at Tavin. "You've got one of the Firelizard eggs." Lysseth> Salek climbs to his feet and follows after Zynassa. Lysseth> Salek heads towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Tavin looks back at Shadra. "A what?" he asks slowly. "You mean I'm supposed to take an egg with one've those... things inside?" He wrinkles his nose, but looks rather pleased. Lysseth> Radar admires the Dark Lapis egg, and watches the people come and go at all speeds. "The bakers will make a killing tonight. All that exercise will make people extra-hungry!" Lysseth> Shadra chuckles. "Let Alaida see your number and she'll be helping you out, I think. Lysseth> Tavin gives Shadra a thankful look and turns to find Alaida. He then turns /back/ to Shadra. "Who's Alaida?" he asks, as if supremely embarassed to have to ask. Lysseth> Chaia points toward the greenrider, gesturing with her wine-cup as she sips. Lysseth> Shadra points to Alaida. Lysseth> Shawnah walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Lysseth> Shadra smiles at Chaia and walks over. "I got one!" she opens her hands to show off the tiny golden dragon plushie with the hide and number on it." Lysseth> Shadra says "Isnt she Cuuuute?" Lysseth> Tavin nods and heads in the directino of the points until he's next to Alaida. "I'm supposed to show this to you?" he asks, holding up a hide with 15 on it. Lysseth> Aerilyn walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Lysseth> Aerilyn comes running down the path, laughing. She's got a tiny emerald green firelizard plushie held in her hands and she's grinning ear to ear. Lysseth> Carissa grins at Aerilyn and giggles, "Hey, looks like you got one, too!" Lysseth> Alaida looks up to Tavin, smiling. "Yep. Thank you." then she motions to the egg in the clutch. "That will be yours when it hatches Lysseth> Tavin looks down at the eggs. He nods, smiling blandly at Alaida with a "Thanks.." before backing up to let others ask the greenrider questions. He stares thoughtfully at the Heart's True Love Rose Quartz egg. Lysseth> Aerilyn giggles and nods, "number 10 it says..." Lysseth> Shawnah walks back onto the beach, clutching a shipfish plushie in one hand, a bronze firelizard plushie in the other. "Hmm... found one." she calls as she walks toward Alaida, though she grins down at both the stuffed animals, "These are cute enough by themselves, really." Lysseth> Alaida chuckles, smiling to Tavin. "It isn't /that/ bad. " then she glances to Aerilyn. "Great! " Lysseth> T'lean appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Lysseth> Medron appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Lysseth> Salek appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Lysseth> Alaida points to the one that Aerilyn won: A blood red egg. "This one will be yours when it hatches. Lysseth> Zynassa appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Lysseth> Medron comes running in, waving a plushy doll above his head! Lysseth> Carissa oohs, "pretty, Aerilyn.." Lysseth> T'lean looks around goes over to Alaida, showing off the bronze plushy, "Says I won R3" Lysseth> Aerilyn wows softly and grins a bit. She nods, "wow...." Lysseth> Radar claps and says, "Congratulations, Aerilyn!" Lysseth> Medron says "I got fourteen!" Lysseth> Tavin raises his eyebrows and seems ready to retort to Alaida, but closes his mouth when she starts to take care of another winner. Shrugging, he takes a seat and continues to peer at the eggs distrustfully. Lysseth> Medron waves the plushy doll around to show everyone Lysseth> Radar looks at the 'Reaches lad and says, "Alaida, I think we have another winner! The boy from High Reaches over there." Lysseth> Zynassa follows Salek in, looking rather amused. "I tramp all over the weyr, and this time out, the Reaches lad finds it in two shakes of an ovine's tail." She shakes her head. Lysseth> Alaida grins to T'lean and Medron. She points to each of their eggs. "These are yours." The R3 is the strange one: Vaguely Variegate egg. Lysseth> Salek plops down on a towel. "I got number twelve," he says, just in case anyone forgot. Lysseth> Medron grins, "Which is 14?" Lysseth> Alaida points to the Winter Wonder snowflake egg to Medron. "That's yours Lysseth> Zynassa looks over to Chaia, circling around to her, "Want me to go take the fosterlings and sweep out the back caverns for lost folks? How many are left to find, do you know?" Lysseth> Alaida glances to Zyn then blushes. "Oh shards. I didn't think of that. Lysseth> Shadra looks at Zynassa and shows off her golden plushie with the leather scrap in it's claws. Lysseth> Chaia smiles, "There are at least four more that I know of. Lysseth> Medron frowns, "I'm catching a dragon rider home, and I'll have to go in a bit, what should I do? Lysseth> Shawnah hmms, looks at the bronze plushie in her hand, and says "And I got number 7?" Lysseth> Chaia smiles, "There are at least four more that I know of. And, sure, Zynassa, that'd be a great idea." Lysseth> Salek says "Maybe she'll give you your egg so you can take it with you!" Lysseth> Shadra looks fondly at the Celestial Evening Lapis egg. "Such a beautiful color. Lysseth> Medron grins, "It was in this little niche on the wall, inside the Waterfall!" Lysseth> Zynassa grins at Alaida, "Don't worry about it, that's what fosterlings are for." She winks at the greenrider, and nods to Chaia. "And maybe get cleaned up in the bargin." She grimaces a bit at her condition. "Salek, let me know if those eggs start rocking?" She gives a wave to the throng, and heads back towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Medron frowns, "that's the thirteenth, might be unlucky..." Lysseth> Zynassa heads towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Medron slowly lowers Synir, only for him to leap into the air again Lysseth> Shadra smiles at Medron. "How could a simple number or even the firelizard hatchling that has the number be unlucky?" Lysseth> Medron drops synir so he can do closer to the mound and have a better look Lysseth> T'lean takes a close look, well, as close as he can at the one that's his, "Interesting egg. Don't think I've ever seen one like that before" Lysseth> Radar syas, "I'm going to put my plushies away before I lose them. I'll be back later!" Lysseth> Radar walks up the long winding path to the top of the plateau. Lysseth> Taria appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Lysseth> Medron hurries of after Taria, yelling about his comission Lysseth> Medron heads towards the waterfall. Lysseth> After his little dip in the water to wash his feet, Tavin sits back down with the small gold plush 'lizard in his hands, waiting and watching the eggs. [Editor's Note: At this point, RL let me go and I started figuring out how the hunt worked. For the fun of it, I've decided to include the descs of the prizes Kassi stumbled on, some of which she probably left alone for others to find and some of which she took home for her children. I imagine she made off with quite a few of the stuffed fire-lizards and tunnelsnakes, at least!] After while searching around, you notice in the taller portion of the grass, there seems to be something there. After checking, you notice a wherhide egg, made out of stiff wherhide and held together by several pieces of ribbon in the same colour. When opened, you see within: A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted green eyes, muted gold scales shimmering with silver embroidery from head to tail. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth. Clutched in its claws is a piece of hide with a written message: 'Eek! Sorry, not a winning egg! Try again.' Lysseth> T'mren spots Taria an dwaves at her, "Hey, any luck in the treasure hunt?" he says, from where he's with Chaia by the food table. Lysseth> Medron looks at taria, "Shall we go to the Work Cavern to get my commission?" Looking around the garden, you don't seem to find anything. But wait... what is that? Over by the lilies...a small glint of something draws your attention. When you move closer, you notice a pure white egg amist the beautiful flowers. When picked up, it's a stiff wherhide egg, dyed to match the flowers and with several pieces of ribbon to keep it closed. When opened, you noticed within: A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted golden eyes, green scales fading to an irridescent blue near the tail. A forked red tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth. Clutched in its claws is a piece of hide with a written message: 'Eek! Sorry, not a winning egg! Try again.' Lysseth> Taria shakes her head. "No, but I'm not exactly trying... I'll be back with you in a moment T'mren, just got a little craft business to finish." she says, as Medron catches up with her finally. "Hi, sure, the blades are waiting for your approval there." she nods, and waves to the others as she heads out. You walk out of the garden. You trek down the narrows of a steep trail, the stepped levels of the plateau and sheer side of the bowl hard on your left. The density of the undergrowth keeps most folks away... but not you. You charge recklessly in and find a wherhide egg! Lucky you, you open the thing and reveal.... A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted golden eyes, green scales hilighted with a red stripe embroidered down each side. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth, holding a scrap of hide that reads: Sorry, try again! You push brush and vines aside to head deeper into the forest. Deciding to be clever, you climb up the trunk of the thickest palm to get a better view and are lucky enough not to break your neck. Your recklessness is rewarded, however, and you find a wherhide egg not so firmly fixed up in the tree. Showing some sense, you climb down and then open it, revealing.... This small bracelet, made with just about any imaginable shell from the beaches of Ista Weyr, looks to have been made by the children of the lower caverns. A piece of wherhide is laced through tiny holes in the shells then tied off at one hand. The array of colours is just astonishing from the bright aqua colour to a pale, almost irridescent white that changes colours depending on what direction it is seen from. The bracelet gives a small clatter of shells when moved and is big enough to slip over the hand and onto the wrist though the very smallest hand might have a problem. With minimal searching, you locate a wherhide egg buried in the sand. Opening it reveals.... A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted golden eyes, green scales fading to an irridescent blue near the tail. A forked red tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth, holding a scrap of hide which reads: Sorry, try again! Lysseth> Shawnah glances around a moment. "So... what else is there to this spiderclaw festival?" she asks no one in particular.. and then she spots the serving table, and with an arched brow, she heads toward it. Lysseth> Alaida smiles and flops back."Good food, swimming, going to the craft tents and just enjoying our weather here. Perhaps work on a tan? You shove vines and brush aside to head back into the jungle. The damp-petaled tropical blooms attract your attention long enough for you to notice the wherhide egg nestled among them. Without hesitation, you open the thing and reveal.... At first glance, this large necklace is made with just about any imaginable shell that is found on the beach. Each shell has a small hole, seeming carefully made, with a piece of wherhide lace running through it. The array of colours is just astonishing from the bright aqua colour to a pale, almost irridescent white that changes colours depending on what direction it is seen from. The necklace gives a small clatter of shells when moved and is big enough to slip over the head. Lysseth> T'lean takes a seat on the beach and lays back, "What looks good, Shawnah?" Lysseth> T'mren offers Chaia a small plate, smiling, "Sweet?" he winks, "I grabbed us a few before /these/ were all gone." Lysseth> Salva wanders around, stopping for snacks occasionally and spending a lot of time people watching. When she spots Salek she grins and asks, "Did you find a winning egg?" Heading back up the steep trail to the plateau, you arrive there minutes later, nearly out of breath from the difficult path. Lysseth> Salek grins at Salva. "Yup! I found this one." He holds up a blue plushy with a number 12 tag. You look in a mound of soil, and find an egg. Cracking it open, you see: A miniature runner plushy peeks out with hazel doe-eyes, all white and soft with sienna splotches tossed haphazardly about as though a painter had dropped a bucket of his finest mix near enough to splash. A shaggy yarn mane of brown and felt hooves complete the image. (This is not a firelizard egg. You may stop now, or keep looking until you find one.) Lysseth> Shadra comes out and looks over the crowd before crying out in delight as she sees a group of people coming to the Festival. "Mother! Da!" she runs over to give them both hugs... and is immediately surrounded by several mini-me's and larger versions of the family You walk over to the beautiful little garden on the edge of a secluded pool. Lysseth> Chaia smiles, and takes one. "Thanks love. I'm sorry, I'm just...frazzled." She must be, for she's finished that wine. "Thank you for taking care of me, love." Lysseth> Alaida actually yawns and stretches out on her patch of sand. A couple of firelizards, probably from her faire, a bronze and a green, flitter down to land on her stomach and give a small chirp and a trill before curling up. Alaida acks softly, tilting her head to look at them. "Oh! So I'm nothing more than a pillow to you?? " Lysseth> Salva grins. "Good for you! I thought you'd find one." She laughs as Shadra is swamped by family. After searching around the garden and pool area, you draw your eyes skyward. There, your eyes catch something within one of the fruit trees. If you step closer, you notice that it is a wherhide egg, masking as one of the fruit. Pulling it down, and opening it up, you see within: A miniature shipfish plushy, delicately frozen in a perfect arc, trails aqua ribbons flaring behind its small body. Two embroidered stripes of faded grey-blue run along each side, the threads sewing a strange dance on its fin and tail. (This isn't a winning firelizard egg. Please try again.) You walk out of the garden. Lysseth> Shadra grins and finally sorts everyone out and talks animatedly with everyone in her family.. then dragging them over to the serving table. Lysseth> Alaida gives a small strangled sound when the green lizard curls up over her neck then groans, lying back to look put upon. "Shards. Silly little creatures. " Lysseth> T'mren smiles tenderly at his weyrmate, and sips his own wine briefly, "Mm. This /is/ good. And it's my job to take care of you.' He winks. Lysseth> Salva giggles at Alaida. "I'm actually fond of the little beasts now. I guess I have you to thank - or blame - for that happening." You walk the long, long trail down to the beach. Sand and grit make the going slippery, as the trail grows steep at times. After a long while, you end up on the dark sands of the beach. Shadra looks to the food, then back at her family. "They've made me a cook and they like my creations." she winks at her Da. "You remember that time you spilled wine ont he fish, and diddn't tell anyone. You know the ones." the family starts snickering. "The ones you went ahead and attempted to bake and they started flaming?" Alaida tilts her head a bit to not disturb the green drapped over her neck. She grins at Salva and giggles softly. "They are rather wonderful, huh? They have a special quality. " Then ohs and looks over at Devath. "You can't tell me you are jealous of a silly little firelizard! " Chaia frowns in response to a whisper from her weyrmate, and answers, "I'm not sure." T'mren squeezes Chaia's hand, "Would they make a suitable gift?" he asks, with an impish grin. Chaia peers at T'mren, "If you're thinking of a gift for your sister, to celebrate her promotion, there's one in the shape of Harp, as well." T'mren blinks, "I wasn't, but. Shards. Good thinking." He ducks inside. T'mren enters the Minecraft Tent. Salva grins. "They're funny little critters, and Wavewalker's real good with messages so I can keep in touch with Ma. Jewel's a bit of a ditz, but she's great entertainment. And they help wash Uriketh!" Devath snorts softly before giving a small rumble. She shifts her bulk in her sand wallow and snakes her head around to peer at her lifemate. Alaida purses her lips. "I"m kinda stuck to get food right now, dear. " then she pauses. "I'm not hung...Oh shards! Fine. " She glances around. "Uh.. Salva? Could you do me a favour? I'm kinda stuck here and Devath is demanding that I eat and drink something. Preferably something with meat. Can you grab me something? " Kassima meanders back in, looking perhaps a bit tired from her wanderings, but very, very amused. "This reminds me of a game we'd play back at Da's holding t'be celebrating the coming of spring," she comments to no one in particular. "Except there you could just bribe Uncle Myaron into spilling where all the toys were hidden." Lyss lifts her head to yawn at her rider, showing teeth, and earns a mock-glare for her trouble. Taria appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Shadra smiles and uncovers the top to the Spiderclaw Flambe' "I sort of improved on that." she grins at her Da. The rest of her family digs into the food while her mother takes her arm and together they wander. Shadra movs with her Ma over to Chaia. "Are you busy, Chaia?" Taria walks out again looking rather surprised. As she nears Chaia and T'mren she asks "Did U'lyn say he had lost his plushies the other day?" she's carrying a small gold one. Salva chuckles. "Sure, any preferences?" She doesn't really wait for an answer but selects samples of several dishes and grabs some juice as well. T'lean chuckles and waves his bronze plushy towards Kassi, "Did you find anything yet?" Chaia waves to Taria, "I think that was a while ago." And then t Shadra, "What do you need?" Alaida smiles to Chaia. "Hm... T'mren was mentioning the ribs were good. How about one of those and a fruit smoothie? Thank you so much for this. " S'ris walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Shadra smiles and draws her mother forward, "Chaia, this is my Mother. Sadlin. Sadlin, this is one of my best friends in the Weyr. Also one of my first. Chaia." Chaia smiles, and greets, of course, telling him, "Shadra's been a real gem." Taria grins, grabs one of those delicious looking recipies and plops herself down on the sands to relax. "Oh well, I always wanted one of these." she adds with a grin. "They're so cute." Salva laughs in Taria's direction. "He was re-living a candidate prank from turns ago!" she calls. "I wouldn't worry." Then she sets the juice aside for herself and fetches a smoothie, peering around for the ribs. "Ribs, ribs...aha! Here you go, Alaida." Taria smiles. "That's a relief then. How is everyone." Kassima shakes her head in leisurely fashion, leaning against her green's shoulder. "Nay any eggs--but I did find a bracelet that's a perfect gift for Kiss. Might've found more if'n Maidil hadn't got tangled up in some blighted thorn bush while hunting and V'dan called me t'help get her out. Honestly, that lass must be accident prone." Shadra smiles at Chaia as her Mother smiles. "Tho we really have to get her into a dress now and.." Shadra looks mortified. "Mother!!" she blushes. Alaida smiles to Salva and attempts to wiggle without disturbing the bronze lizard curled on her stomach and the green drapped across her neck. "Thank you so much, Sis. " Chaia laughs, "Don't worry about it, Shadra...I almost never wear dresses." Today's an exception, of course. "At least no one's bugging you about producing /grandchildren/." Riclair walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. S'ris comes strolling on in on rolling feet, boots crunching down in the sand. Crunch crunch crunch. Seems he found the lost city where his riders and guests have all been hiding. Too many people to dispense pleasantries to, surely, so he goes straight for the food. easiest place to say hello to a few people. Alaida glances around at those here. "Whoever hasn't found a winning egg yet, there are still some out there. I have only gotten 12 people to come by and tell me their numbers. That means there are 3 more out there. Devath rumbles suddenly, almost sounding extremely insistant. Shawnah chuckles over to Kassmia. "I found a little shipfish plushie, and this." she holds up a little bronze plushie, "WIth the number seven on it.. which I guess means I get one of those?" she nods toward the clutch of firelizard eggs, giving the girl standing near a questioning glance. Taria blinks. "Numbers?" she peers down at the softtoy and giggles. "This one's got a 1 on it..." she looks puzzled. Sadlin gets that look on her face, but Shadra looks at Mother and grumbles, "Dont Even Think About It!" she looks meaningfully at her Mother's tummy. Yep, another bambina on the way. Alaida quickly takes a bite out of her rib meat, chewing and swallowing. She glares over at Devath. "There! You happy, you silly dragon-nanny! What has gotten into you? " At her motion of eating, Devath croons and settles down. Shadra looks at Chaia. "Dont worry, we've had this discussion before." Salva watches Alaida and Devath with amusement, then waves to Riclair. "Ric! Heya! Chaia just grins, and then moves over to the serving table, to murmur, "We got quite a turnout, sir," to S'ris. "Try the etoufee. It's delicious." Jya walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Riclair makes his long-stepping way down to the beach. Upon spotting the crowd there, he looks like he's considering retracing his steps, but swallows and continues onward. Upon spotting Salva, he picks up his pace and waves. "Salva, hey!" It doesn't take him long to join her. "Where's U'lyn? I thought he'd be here." Kassima peeks at the little toy, and tips her head to one side. "'Tis what I'd be thinking; methinks you're supposed t'tell the lady by the eggs what you've found. Felicitations t'you!" T'lean chuckles at Kassi and Shawnah, "Yeah, then you can find out which egg is yours. Found one myself" and waves his bronze plushy around S'ris chuckles softly at Chaia, nodding as he surverys the crowd again. "I wouldn't think this many people would be this comfortable on a beach at once. And the etoufee...etoufee...where is it?" He's lost in the food. Pity the bronzer. Telgar Weyr> Kassima has to say, my mother knows me well. We just did the opening-of-presents thing, and she got me a necklace shaped like a battle-axe with a dragon curled around it. Yay, violent jewelry! ;) Alaida finally just settles into eating her rib. She glances over at S'ris, smiling. "Hello, Sir. Join in the fun! " Shadra 's mother goes back to her Da and the whole herd starts wandring around. Shadra nods to S'ris. "Greetings, Sir." Salva grins. "Prob'ly still searching for eggs, I haven't seen him in a while. Were you looking for him?" Chaia laughs, "Well, it's not as if they're sunbathing. The etoufee's that dish with the peppers and garlic and whiteroots....and spiderclaws of course. One of the old uncles made it...don't /ask/ me what the name means. I've got no idea." Taria smiles and waves at S'ris, after all, he was one of the folks who've let her come to the weyr." Jya trudges across the beach and looks up to see the crowds assembled. She grins at various people and makes her way to the tables, deciding to get something light before attempting to say hello to everyone. Riclair grins a bit sheepishly. "No. It just seemed strange that he wasn't with /you/. What's going on with the eggs?" Kassima echoes her earlier sentiment, smiling: "Felicitations t'you too, then, T'lean! 'Tis a fun sort of event, this. And good t'see that Telgar made a good showing." Salva blushes slightly as she replies, "Winning ones mean you get an egg from Calista's clutch." She holds up her gold plushie and it's accompanying hide. "I got one, see?" Shadra takes one of the Flambe's and a smoothie, before lookign at Salva. "Congradulations! Which number did you get?" Shawnah chuckles and shrugs. "Thanks.. I think I'll tell her later though." she peeks at Alaida. "She looks pretty busy.. but lookit all this!" she turns back to the serving table, "Didn't know you could make so many differnt things from spiderclaws." a beam is sent to T'lean then, and then a nod to S'ris. "Telgar's duties to you, Weyrleader." that said, she snags a plate and starts picking things out to try. Salva beams at Shadra. "It says R2. So I guess number 2?" Feasting Table: This long table has been decorated with fronds and jungle vines, giving it a festive look. It is loaded down with food for the Spiderclaw Festival, and the bakers have been busy in the kitchens, making ready for the feast. If you look close, you might even see some favorite dishes of some of the Istans! Mouthwatering tidbits are attractively arranged, and drudges stand ready to clean up any spills. "Ive got 13." Suline walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. T'lean chuckles at Shawnah "Well, we couldn't have Telgar go home empty handed now." S'ris grins as Chaia points it out to him, and he nods back to Shadra and Alaida, smiling. "Good day to you, as well. And Ista's duties back to you." THe last is send to Shawnah, the rest distrubuted out to those that he's talking to. He gives himself a little break though, by tasting a little bit of the food. "Mmmmm, it is good Chaia. You'll have to give him my compliments. Everything here this well done?" Shadra sips her smoothie and relaxes near the table. Suline and a few other weyrbrats her age walk up slowly, giggling and chattering about nothing in particular. "I've seen some of these dishes a'fore," Kassi notes, abandoning her now-dozing dragon to get a look at this famed table herself. "At Ofira's regional specialty dinner, or back home at Greystones--but others don't look familiar at all." Following the direction of the Headwoman's nod, she grees likewise, "Duties to Ista and her queens--methinks I overheard someone saying, Shawnah, that the smoothies are particularly good. And perish the *thought*, T'lean. 'Twould bring all Pern to an end. Or something." Alaida yawns suddenly after she swallows her bite of meat. She finishes her rib and sets the bone on the plate. She suddenly glares over at Devath. "I do not eat bones. I don't care how good they are. They are good for you - not me. " Chaia laughs, "Well, /I/ think so, sir. But I might be biased, since Tam contributed as well." She offers a merry grin, then nods to the Telgar Headwoman, and introduces herself. Riclair grins. "Congrats, Salva. Wonder if it'll be a gold? I should look, I've always wanted a firelizard after seeing Garrick's fair in action." Shadra looks at Alaida and raises her voice slightly over the crowd. "Alaida? Can I interest you in some Spiderclaw Flambe and a smoothie? Or perhaps a Berry Custard? Salva grins at Shadra, then steps to one side as Suline and the weyrbrats appear. "Thanks! Oh, that would be interesting." she replies to Riclair. "You should! Ask Alaida if there are any eggs left." Alaida hmms, glancing to Shadra then smiles. "Thanks, but I just had a rib. I'm not really hungry. Just kinda humouring Devath. " She moves to lift her mug with her smoothie."Got a smoothie also. " and she takes a large sip from it. Jya collects some rolls and fruit before slowly moving over the sands to the throngs of people assembled. She greets Shadra first, with a merry "hello!" Shadra grins. "I hope you like the smoothies, then." Suline departs the giggling girls and heads for /food/. She bounces onto her tiptoes to peer at people. "Are there any cookies left?" Shadra smiles at Jya. "Greetings." Alaida smiles. "Very much so! " Shadra says "It's not often I can wrangle ice from the High Reaches Mountains for something like this." Erelan walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. S'ris grins. "You can at least pretend to not be biased. I won't say anything at all," he teases Chaia before turning to look out over the beach again. "Where's T'mren? I see his dragon here...did he have to leave?" Riclair nods. "I'll be back, then, once I've found something. Be it an egg or just stray dust. I'll see you two later," he says, nodding to Shadra and heading over to speak to Alaida. Jya chuckles. "I think there's something of everything left, not just cookies." Salva waves, calling, "Good luck!" before heading back to the minecraft tent. Salva enters the Minecraft Tent. Erelan wanders onto the beach with a group of harper journeyranks, and other apprentices, one of whom calls out, "Harpers' duties to Ista andher queens." Suline beams a dazzling smile at Jya. "Good! Oh. Have you seen.." She looks around and lowers her voice slightly. "HAve you seen U'lyn?" Shawnah hmms and nods to Kassima as she starts piling things on her plate. A little sampling of everything, it seems. "I'll try those too then, of course!" she pauses and glances up, "Want anything while I'm right here?" a smile is sent to Chaia then, and then a brief pause before, "Oh! You're Zai's cousin?" Salva leaves the Minecraft Tent. Alaida suddenly calls out. "For those here for the treasure hunt, there are still eggs out there! I think I'm missing around 3 or 4 winning eggs for Calista's clutch. If you haven't found one, you can still find one! Chaia tells Shawnah, "I am. How is she? I was hoping she'd make it here." And then informs the weyrleader, "I think he slipped into the minecraft tent, and is trying to be mysterious. But the 'Ista Rolls' he made really /are/ tasty." Kassima shakes her head slowly after a moment, looking back over her shoulder. "Nay... methinks I might go hunting again, with a fresh eye, though I'm nay thinking there's much chance of my finding aught--I want a good story t'be telling the children when I get back. But mayhaps you could save me one of those smoothie things if'n you'd be so kind?" Salva wanders out again and over to the serving table. She pours herself a smoothie and starts people watching again, still trying to avoid Suline. Riclair hears Alaida's announcement in mid-stride heading over to talk to her, then steps away. Time to peel those eyes and turn a few stones. Riclair heads towards the waterfall. Erelan approaches the woman who's making announcements, and asks quietly, "Ma'am? I'm Erelan, and we were wondering if you mightn't want a bit of music." She grins then, and adds, "I saw you at the Hall the other day, but I had to run to class before we could meet." T'mren leaves the Minecraft Tent. T'mren steps out of the minecraft tent, and doesn't appear to be carrying anything immediately obvious. He wanders towards Chaia, when he spots her in the crowd. Chaia grins at her weyrmate, and murmurs to S'ris, "Speak of the evil one..." in a teasing tone. Shawnah laughs and nods to Kassmia. "Sure thing!" she says, and then lokos back to Chaia a moment before frowning and scanning the crowd, "She'd mentioned she might come by." she says, "But she seems to be doing well.. they only have a few more months left in weyrlinghood, I think." You head towards the waterfall. [Editor's Note: More wandering, yes. Now that I'm sharing object descs, I'll leave the exit messages in too. If nothing else, y'all can laugh at me for hiking all over Ista like this!] Lysseth> Zynassa walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Lysseth> S'ris ahhhhs, trying to locate the tent, and luckily spotting it just as T'mren walks out. "T'mren, hello, how is the new wing shaping up? Not toturing the poor riders with excessive drills, right?" Afterall, Chaia herself said he was the evil one.. Lysseth> Alaida looks up to Erelan, then smiles suddenly. "We would be honoured if you would play for us, Harper. Thank you. " You enter one of the tunnels, the sound of the waterfall muting, as you move deeper into the weyr. You walk into the breezy tunnel, the faint rumbling sound falling water growing louder. You enter one of the tunnels, the sound of the waterfall muting, as you move deeper into the weyr. Lysseth> Ardenth backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Lysseth> Rhianwen walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Lysseth> Shadra murmers over at one of the drudges standing by, nibbling food. She looks over the table and points to various dishes.. Said drudge scurries off and returns with a few more helpers, bearing trays of the food requested." Lysseth> Zynassa picks her way down the path from the weyr. Looks as though the work of the festival is over for her today. She is carrying her slippers, but already attired for dancing, skirts held up so she won't trip. Curls bob across her forehead as she heads towards Chaia, announcing, "The fosterlings are still sweeping the tunnels - and looking for eggs, I might add. Grissa said everything was under control, sooo..." She trails off, grinning a bit. Lysseth> Ardenth lands (finally!) off somewhere out of the way where she won't squash anyone. And, coincidentally, where she doesn't have to be near any other dragons. And, coincidentally, where Langley winds up having to jog a fair distance to get close to the party proper. "I love you too," the greenrider can be heard to mutter as she makes her way across the sand. Lysseth> Langley slips deftly down to the bent foreleg of Ardenth, the dainty green lowering to a crouch and watching with gentle eyes as she hops to the ground. You walk up the narrow set of stairs and into the meeting room. You lift the curtain aside and walk through the narrow archway. You walk off towards the West Cavern Workroom. Lysseth> Salva waves to Rhianwen, then to Langley. "Hello! Oh, music!" She fins a place near the harpers and settles in the sand to listen. Lysseth> Alaida grins and glances over at Chaia, looking all puffed out at everyone having fun. You walk into the residents' dormitory. You slip beneath the well-worn archway into the cavern beyond. You walk down the cavern to the east. After peering into the gloom, you move into a barely-visible opening to the east. You decide to search through the thick layer of dust on the floor. You find an egg. Cracking it open, you see: A miniature spinner plushy peeks out with multifaceted black eyes and an embroidered maw, furry brown body round and plump. Eight brown legs extend from the body, each twice as long as that mass and striated with thin white lines. (This is not a firelizard egg. You may stop now, or keep looking until you find one.) Lysseth> Chaia grins back at Alaida, still frazzled, but also pleased. Beaming, even. She steals another of T'mren's rice-and-spiderclaw rolls, and moves away from the table, offering a wave to Rhianwen as she does so. Lysseth> S'ris chuckles at T'mren. "Good man, I'm glad to hear that. And Chaia, Alaida, it's been great so far. I'm sorry I can't stay longer and enjoy it more. Duty always seems to get in the way." Lysseth> Rhianwen wanders in, having left Winseth in much quieter climes, to that green's dismay. She waves back to Salva, then to Chaia and T'mren as she spots them in the crowd, smiling brightly "My! Look at all the people. Winseth wanted to come onto the beach too, but I was so afraid she's plant herself right in the middle of everything that I told her she would have to stay back there." She waves a hand in the direction from whence she came before continuing, having moved closer to T'mren "I promised her I'd tell her /all/ about it later, and so she decided to be agreeable about it. Hello, Langley!" is called as she realizes she isn't the only one to have just arrived. Lysseth> Suline shoves her way up to Alaida. "Hey. Excuse me. Um. You seen my cousin? Or do you know where I should go?" You peer into the gloom, and spy an egg. Cracking it open, you see: A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted green eyes, muted gold scales shimmering with silver embroidery from head to tail. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth. (This is not a firelizard egg. You may stop now, or keep looking until you find one.) Lysseth> Zynassa was just coming up behind S'ris on that one. "You and P'tod!" She snorts. "Shove those hides into a corner for an evening and come have fun. I'll save you both a dance if you do." She grins around the Weyrleader at Alaida and Chaia. "They're both always swamped with those things. Lysseth> T'mren wiggles a finger playfully at his weyrmate, in an I-saw-that gesture, before nodding to S'ris with a smile, "Does that when yo'ure weyrleader I guess." He grins at Rhianwen, "Lucky you, RHianwen...Winseth's been to a gather before, I assume." Lysseth> Shawnah settles down to a seat, and starts digging in as she half-listens to the conversations around her and enjoys the seabreeze. Lysseth> "Hello, Rhianwen!" Langley returns in cheery good favor, falling in a few steps away from the other greenrider. "Looks like quite a turnout," she notes, peering along the beach with an approving eye and even waving toward Alaida and Chaia when she picks them out. Lysseth> Alaida just looks positively beside herself as she grins. She looks up to Suline. "I haven't seen him in awhile. I think he had some stuff to do. I'm sure he'll be back though. " Lysseth> S'ris turns his head over his shoulder and laughs at Zynassa. "Tends to come with the position, dear Zynassa. And I wish I could, but I pushed them away so I could come down just for this little bit. I'll just have to take you dancing some other time." You walk into the breezy tunnel, the faint rumbling sound falling water growing louder. Lysseth> Suline's nostrils flare as she starts to pout. "Well..I don't know where I'm supposed to go..or anything. Did I hear someone say something about eggs?" You shuffle around in the semi-darkness with only the filtered light through the waterfall to give you anyway to see around. After a few seconds, you kick a rock, noticing something under a few. Once checking, you see a small wherhide egg, held together but pieces of ribbon. When opened, you see: A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted green eyes, muted gold scales shimmering with silver embroidery from head to tail. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth. Clutched in its claws is a piece of hide with a written message: 'Eek! Sorry, not a winning egg! Try again.' Lysseth> Salva sighs and calls over to Suline, "He's still out egg hunting, Suline. He'll be back later. Or at least, he'd better be back later. I want to dance!" Lysseth> Chaia offers S'ris a sympathetic smile, "We understand. Glad you could sample /some/ of the food though...." And she flicks her dark eyes to T'mren saying. "Someone I know tried /everything/ and will, no doubt, still be hungry later." Lysseth> Alaida ohs and laughs! "You mean for the hunt! Well, there are wherhide eggs just like this. " and she holds one up that was beside her on the sand. "Hidden around the Weyr, in public places you can find them. If you find one with a firelizard plushie and a number, you win an egg from Calista's clutch. I believe there are about 3 or 4 still missing and haven't been found. You enter one of the tunnels, the sound of the waterfall muting, as you move deeper into the weyr. Lysseth> Rhianwen giggles, smiling at S'ris too and waggling fingers in a goodbye gesture "Oh, shells yes. We went to one just a while back when we first graduated. I had an even harder time then convincing her that they are for humans, not dragons!" Poor Winseth - girls just want to have fun after all. "Leaving us so soon, S'ris? You know, I'm not sure..should I call you Weyrleader or Wingleader? It's all very confusing. Maybe I'll just call you S'ris and then not have to worry about it." She smiles at Langley as she wanders up "Oh, yes....it does seem to have been a success, this party." Lysseth> Zynassa arches eyebrows at S'ris, "I'll hold you to that. Yaz was always the better for a break every now and then. You *could*," she suggests slyly, "Toss a bunch of hides at him. Might even keep him here at Ista where he belongs, instead of haring off up to the Reaches." Her tone holds a hint of disapproval on that last. "He's been gone enough that I think he needs more to do." Well, that's little sisters for you. Particularly when they're in a snit. You walk off towards the East Cavern. You walk down a /long/ winding passage, deep into the stone of the weyr. After a few moments, you exit into what appears to be a bubble-cavern. You walk down the long, winding passageway to the lower caverns. You walk off towards the West Cavern Workroom. You peer into the glow baskets, and spy an egg. Cracking it open, you see: A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted green eyes, muted gold scales shimmering with silver embroidery from head to tail. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth. (This is not a firelizard egg. You may stop now, or keep looking until you find one.) Lysseth> Suline folds her arms and tosses her head. "Oh. Firelizards. Well, thanks." She sniffs loudly and moves away from Alaida. Lysseth> The sound of the pipes is joined by the softest strumming of strolling gitar players, as the journeyranked harpers pull out their instruments, and add to the mix. They'll linger near a knot of people every so often, change the melody to suit an overheard conversation, then nod, and move away. You walk past the watchwher and leave the Weyr. Lysseth> S'ris chuckles. Yes, he has to chuckle cause people keep throwing words at him. "Weyrleader of course, Rhianwen. It's the higher position. And go ahead Zynassa, I look forward to it. Don't tear up the beach, I wanna swim here later!" You walk through the yawning entrance to Ista Weyr. Lysseth> Suline walks up the long winding path to the top of the plateau. You walk down the cavern to the east. Lysseth> Langley's mutter is low enough not to be offensive, though the gist of it probably was. When she wraps up the words, she wiggles her fingers in farewell to the Weyrleader with a saccharine smile. "More firelizard eggs?" she remarks, catching on to Suline's words and wrinkling her brows together. "Wonderful. Whose are they?" This last she projects toward Chaia. After peering into the gloom, you move into a barely-visible opening to the east. You walk into the breezy tunnel, the faint rumbling sound falling water growing louder. You squeeze under the rock overhang and head back outside to the pool. Lysseth> Shadra moves through the crowds and finds a spot near the eggs and Alaida. "Ahh, an out of the way spot. I was just about ready to collapse." Chaia quirks an eyebrow at the woman who is likely the most...prickly...of Ista's newest greenriders. "You'd have to complain to Alaida, Langley, if more firelizards are something you object to. The clutch is hers. Your salad, by the way, has been /quite/ popular." Never hurts to mix a little sweetening with the vinegar. Kassima slips through, muttering to herself and thoroughly, thoroughly ignoring the rumblesnickering of her dragon. Calista seems to be settling down despite all the people nearby constantly moving. She hovers over her clutch, looking extremely protective. You head over to the south end of the beach. Lysseth> Zynassa slips away from the crowd for the moment, ducking into the minecraft tent. Lysseth> T'mren watches his weyrmate with a twitch of a grin, and sips his wine again, "Which salad was hers, again, love?" Lysseth> Zynassa enters the Minecraft Tent. In a warm pile of sand, you find an egg. Cracking it open, you see: A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted golden eyes, green scales fading to an irridescent blue near the tail. A forked red tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth. (This is not a firelizard egg. You may stop now, or keep looking until you find one.) Lysseth> Chaia murmurs softly, "The spinach, one, and it /is/ lovely." Lysseth> Rhianwen waves again to the Weyrleader and then turns back to the grouping, smiling at Langley "Oh, did you make a salad? I'll have to try it - it's sure to be good." She looks over the food "Actually, it all looks good. If I don't watch out, I'll get fat." She notes, then flushes, peeking over at T'mren. "Maybe that's what I should do, don't you think? Then I wouldn't have to worry about...things." She turns her gaze on Chaia. "You've done a nice job here, you know. Did you and Alaida do it all by yourselves?" Lysseth> A blue and a green firelizard come and settle near Salva, and she scratches their eyeridges absently as she listens to the music. You walk northward along the dark sand of the beach, toward the distant waterfall. T'mren snorts quietly, with an amused look at Rhianwen, "YOu're a rider. You'll be kept /far/ too busy to ever get fat, silly." He ahhs at Chaia, smiling, "Yes, love, I had the spinach one. Delicious. I've had that before, I think,b ut it's still great." Langley looks pretty pleased by the compliment and says, "Good! It's nice to know at least some people have good taste." She nods back toward Rhianwen, clarifying, "I gave the kitchen the recipe. I didn't make it *myself*. Did you make anything?" She's apparently forgotten about the firelizards for now. T'lean streaches a bit and chuckles ammusedly at the conversations behind him What a climb! You manage to trudge your way *all* the way up to the top of the plateau, up the long winding trail. You realize again why this beach visit is always so tiring. Lysseth> A harper apprentice, one of the gitarists, lingers near the redheaded greenrider with the /perfectly/ tied gray hair ribbons, and strums rather pointedly toward her. His brown eyes twinkle impishly, as he leads his craftmates into a lovesong. Smitten by sarcasm, at the tender age of fourteen. How shocking. You trek down the narrows of a steep trail, the stepped levels of the plateau and sheer side of the bowl hard on your left. You push through vine after vine and finally sweep aside a handful of them that touch the ground which reveals a wherhide egg. Without a moment of hesitation you open the thing and reveal.... A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted green eyes, reddish scales fading to an irridescent orange near the tail. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth, holding a scrap of hide that reads: Sorry, try again! Hunting amid the skybroom trees yields success... just when you were about to give up. Without hesitation, your hands pry open the wherhide egg to reveal.... A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted green eyes, muted gold scales shimmering with silver embroidery from head to tail. A forked black tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth, holding a scrap of hide that reads: Sorry, try again! You push brush and vines aside to head deeper into the forest. Lysseth> Rhianwen shrugs "Maybe I'd be happier fat." She says, before laughing at Langley's comment. "Oh, silly me. But I imagine you don't really have the time now to actually cook - I know I don't." She admits. "And I didn't make anything or give any recipes. For some reason, I'm always too busy taking care of Winseth. She's awfully time-consuming...isn't Ardanth?" She enquires before tilting her head to the music "Oh, listen! I bet there will be dancing! I just love dancing!" She claps her hands together with delight, turning partly to crane her neck and see. "Is there going to be dancing, Chaia?" You push your way free of vines to appear at the bottom of a craggy path leading up to the jungle. Heading back up the steep trail to the plateau, you arrive there minutes later, nearly out of breath from the difficult path. You walk over to the beautiful little garden on the edge of a secluded pool. Lysseth> Shoshana slips in with a rider from High Reaches, who soon walks off to talk to some others. She catches sight of someone she knows...Salva, and waves with a faint smile, "Hey there." she calls, heading towards her. Walking along the fenceline, it seems like something catches your attention amist a grassy area. Between two posts, almost hidden completely from view is a wherhide egg, kept together by two pieces of ribbon in matching colour. When you pick it up and open it, you see within: A miniature runner plushy peeks out with tan doe-eyes, brown coat running from ear-tips to tail tip, broken only by a white stripe around one leg. A shaggy yarn mane of black and felt hooves complete the image. (This isn't a winning firelizard egg. Please try again.) You walk out of the garden. Lysseth> Alaida squeels suddenly and lifts up a bit, dumping the two lizards that were drapped on her. "Shoshana!!! " Lysseth> Langley gives the Harper a really mean look (she has them down pretty well by now, of course) and proceeds to otherwise ignore him entirely. (She has that down pretty well by now, too.) "I'm actually just a lousy cook," she tells Rhianwen with a shrug. "Isn't T'mren good at dancing?" she asks, curiosity struck by Rhianwen's commentary. Lysseth> Chaia laughs, "I'm betting there will be, once the sun sinks a bit lower, and the temperatures cool. Try Tam's rolls, please?" And then she adds, in Langley's direction, "Tam's a wonderful dancer." Lysseth> Salva catches sight of Shoshana and waves. "Heya, Shoshana! How've you been?" She giggles at Alaida. Lysseth> Shadra holds out a hand to catch the firelizards that get dumped when Alaida jumps up. Lysseth> T'lean yawns and gets up from his little nap on the beach, glancing towards Duzroth, now dozing, and gives the serving table a good look before heading over to find something toe at You look in the traces of an old lava flow and find an Egg. Cracking it open, you see: A teeny blue firelizard plushy peers out with neck held in a relaxed pose. Fluffs of sapphire plague his spars and sails while spins of cerulean twist off to light his supple hide, a few splinters of navy cutting his legs into a strange tiling of hues. Two irridescent patches of embroidery, swirled into whorls, are his eerily lifelike eyes and a bit of artful stitching creates a slightly toothy maw. (This is not a firelizard egg. You may stop now, or keep looking until you find one.) Lysseth> Shoshana hears her name and turns, grining when she spots Alaida. "Alaida!" she exclaims, wading further into the crowd. "How've you been?" she asks brightly, before nodding at Salva, "Alright, pretty busy. How about you?" Lysseth> T'mren chortles, "Happy or not, ya won't get fat as a rider." He states to Rhianwen, then kisses Chaia's cheek, "Yes, please do try my rolls! I worked for, err, well not exactly hours, but they did take time." Lysseth> The two lizards that were on Alaida, a bronze and a blue, both tumble into the sand with both giving startled chirps. The blue just chirps, but the bronze starts to chatter as if to scold his owner for dumping him rather uncerimoniously into the sand. You trek down the narrows of a steep trail, the stepped levels of the plateau and sheer side of the bowl hard on your left. Lysseth> Salva grins. "That's good! Life's been...interesting. Today's been great, though!" Lysseth> Salva winces as Jewel warbles and takes off. Lysseth> Sensing more than a hint of annoyance, the young harper moves a bit further down the beach, but not before he heaves a disapointed sigh. The pipers take over the melody again, and it slows into something a bit less lovery, a gentle swaying tone. Calm, peaceful, serene. Lysseth> Shadra looks at the firelizards, "I tried. "she says. Lysseth> Alaida quickly scoops up the two, moving to hand them to Shadra. "Could you watch these two for me? Thanks! " then she jumps up, moving her tiny body through the crowd to Shoshana with a bright smile. She quickly moves to hug the other woman. "Shards! It's been awhile! " You push brush and vines aside to head deeper into the forest. Lysseth> T'mren shakes his head at quiet words from his weyrmate, speaking back. Lysseth> Rhianwen blinks at Langley "Well, I have no idea. I've never danced with him, I don't think." She responds, before smiling beautifically at that kiss given to Chaia "But his weyrmate might know, I'd imagine. Oh, did you say rolls? Sweet rolls, T'mren? Please say they are sweetrolls. I just love sweetrolls." She giggles "And if I eat enough of them I'll get fat. So there." Lysseth> Langley picks at the salad, which is close to the only thing she'll wind up eating at this party. Rolls just *aren't* her style. "I remember that. Didn't you give dancing lessons or something once?" she asks, considering T'mren before she shrugs at Rhianwen. "Neither've I. But it seems like I remember that." Lysseth> Chaia flushes, pleased, at whatever T'mren's just told her, and, her duties apparently over for the moment, steps away from the serving table as another woman from the lower caverns takes a turn. Her hand is slipped into his, but she answers her friend, "Spiderclaw and rice rolls, actually. There might be sweetrolls in the baker's tent though." You push your way free of vines to appear at the bottom of a craggy path leading up to the jungle. Lysseth> T'lean enters the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Lysseth> T'mren blinks, "I may have once Langley, I think. They're not sweetrolls, sorry Rhianwen, they're very tasty though." Lysseth> Shoshana grins back at Salva, raising a curious eyebrow, "Interesting?" she asks, before hugging Alaida, "I know! I don't think I've seen you since...the Hatching? Was it really that long? How've you been?" Lysseth> Rhianwen pouts for a moment at not getting sweetrolls, then brightens right away "In there?" she points to the tent. "Oh, maybe I should go find some. I do love sweets, after all." She burbles. "I'll taste yours later, T'mren, honest I will! And maybe Chaia will let me dance with you too!" But she's already heading for the Bakercraft Tent, yup. Food calls, after all. Lysseth> Chaia arches her eyebrow at T'mren. "Dancing lessons?" she asks. "You've never mentioned this." Lysseth> Alaida grins. "Wonderful. Very busy of late. This is the first time I could relax and I'm still trying to work at that! " She turns, pointing over to Devath. "That's her. That's my Devath. " Lysseth> Shadra looks at the sand, then watches those around her, relaxing. Lysseth> Salva smiles. "Yes, interesting, for lack of a better word." To Chaia she calls, "He and S'ris tried to teach all the female candidates to dance!" Lysseth> U'lyn walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Heading back up the steep trail to the plateau, you arrive there minutes later, nearly out of breath from the difficult path. Lysseth> Rhianwen enters the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Lysseth> Shoshana nods in complete understanding, "I know how it feels." she sympathizes. She turns to look at the indicated dragon and grins widely, "Oh she's lovely Alaida! I don't think I even ever congratulated you really, any of you." she adds glancing at Salva. "Since I left early the next day. So...congratulations." Grin. Lysseth> Alaida smiles to Shoshana. "I can understand but I'm glad you came back. I've missed seeing people from our Candidate group. " Lysseth> U'lyn wanders his way down the path, stretching his arms far behind him as he trudges along the sand. Bending over, he removes his shoes and keeps them in one hand, shaking a little bit of sand out of them. Glancing around, he finds a few people he knows and makes his way towards them. "Hey Salva, Alaida, Shoshana!" Lysseth> Salva grins at Shoshana. "Thanks. My Uriketh got tired of all the people and went to sleep in our weyr, so I can't show him off." She finally spots U'lyn and stands to wave. "U'lyn, over here!" Lysseth> Erelan goes into the Winecraft pavillion. Lysseth> T'mren squeezes his weyrmate's hand and smiles apologetically< "I did, but it was a long, long time ago." You open the gate and walk into the corrals. Lysseth> Erelan comes out of the Winecraft pavillion. Lysseth> F'lone walks over from the plateau, following behind N'pece. He waves and gives a general salute. "Evening, sir's, ma'am's." he says. Lysseth> Shoshana nods, "I've missed seeing you all too. I was back a few times, baker business, but none of you were around. I think I saw Wendelle once too...after the Hatching, but that's it. And then Salva and U'lyn...Hey U'lyn...a few sevendays ago or something." Making a quick jaunt into the stables, you hunt around vigorously and manage to save a wherhide egg from a particularly heavy-footed runner. Cracking your newfound treasure open reveals.... A miniature tunnelsnake plushy peeks out with slitted golden eyes, black scales shimmering with blue and grey overtones embroidered from head to tail. A forked red tongue sticks perpetually out of its mouth, holding a scrap of hide which reads: Sorry, try again! Lysseth> The light relaxing music continues, melding with the sound of the ocean waves, forming a backdrop against which people can mingle. Lysseth> U'lyn grins widely at Salva and the others, now stretching his hands infront of him. "How're you all? Ondeth made me go back for a nap, he thought I was tired for some reason..." Lysseth> Alaida smiles."You should visit more often! " Carianna walks in from the bowl, remembering to close the gate. Carianna smiles as she passes by Kassima, caught en midst of peeking under the fence--or trying to--looks up to offer a sheepish smile in return. Carianna crosses the corral and opens the gates on the west side, and walks out to the plateau, closing the gate behind her. Lysseth> Salva nods at Shoshana. "Yup, you should! Oh, U'lyn, Suline was looking for you." You open the gate and walk out of the corrals. You walk over to the beautiful little garden on the edge of a secluded pool. Lysseth> Shoshana grins, "I'll try to. It's pretty busy, but I suppose I can try. It is awfully nice down here, especially seeing you all...even if it is really hot." she nods at U'lyn, "I'm alright, how 'bout you?" Lysseth> N'tan looks around the beach, letting his glance linger here and there. Lysseth> Carianna ohs as she arrives and sees everything. Not sure what to look at first, she pauses and look up at N'tan. "I think we found it." Lysseth> Alaida grins. "I'm surprised you aren't use to this heat! I love it! " Lysseth> Langley is just trying to eat salad without getting sand in it. That's a full time job in and of itself. Lysseth> Salva laughs. "We've had several turns to get used to it! Shoshana's from 'Reaches, right?" Lysseth> U'lyn gets up to get himself a smoothy, looking around for Suline as he goes. "I'll find her eventually," he says as he gets back. "I'm doing great, thanks! Scoured my weyr, and managed to find a few more marks, so I'm gonna go look through the minecraft tent again later..." Lysseth> N'tan says "So we did..." Lysseth> Erelan listens as her fellow harpers finish their set, and takes over the gitar from that dark-eyed apprentice who's been smitten with Langley. As the girl follows the melody line of another inoccuous tune, the boy darts over to the greenrider, offering, "Ma'am. May I get you something to drink with that?" You walk the long, long trail down to the beach. Sand and grit make the going slippery, as the trail grows steep at times. After a long while, you end up on the dark sands of the beach. Salva grins at U'lyn and nods. "I have two things I need to check the price of. The dragon hairclasp and the little dragon statue. I may ask about one of those little jeweled eggs, but I don't know...Uriketh's egg was brown, like him." Langley just says, "No!" But she says it like she *means* it, with just the right amount of snap to come across as shrewish. Che eats some more salad, too. Suline is sitting with a group of girls her own age, gossiping and giggling the gathering away. Shoshana makes a face, "Gah. I'm more used to the cold." she nods at Salva, "Exactly. It's freezing up there in the winter." she grins at U'lyn, "Sounds good...makes me want to clean up my area once in a while." forget the fact she's already really neat. She waves to Carianna, and then blinks. "Hey, is that Langley?" N'tan grins..... still looking around. Unphased, the boy walks away, but careful listeners can hear him whispering to his friends. "Next time, get Ducer to do the prank." U'lyn sits down beside Salva, pulling his little bag of marks out of his pocket. "I know I want /something/, but I'm not sure what it is. I don't have much room left on me for jewelery..." You head towards the waterfall. Lysseth> Carianna takes a few minutes to adjust to the crowd then smiles and returns Shosh's wave. Soon her smile sines as she says softly to N'tan. "Les go get a closer look. I think I see some food down there." Lysseth> "Bells for your bootlaces," Langley comes up with abruptly, turning slightly so she's got Salva and U'lyn in her line of sight. "I once saw a girl who had bells on her bootlaces, and they jingled whens he walked. You could get those, U'lyn." Lysseth> Alaida looks over at U'lyn. "I think I would like to get some of those chimes for my weyr. They would be perfect for the front since the wind blows there lightly. " Lysseth> N'tan grins, "You go ahead, the view from here is great." Lysseth> Salva giggles. "Yes, that's the Langley we all know and love, when she's not screeching at us. Rhi's around here somewhere, too..." Oh, wait, Langley's right there. She shuts up rather quickly. You enter one of the tunnels, the sound of the waterfall muting, as you move deeper into the weyr. Lysseth> Carianna nods and is about to take a step down then asks, "Wnat me to bring you back something to eat?" Lysseth> N'tan grins, "Maybe later..." Lysseth> U'lyn sips at his drink slowly, grinning as he scans through the crowd. "I haven't seen this many people here....probably since the hatching. I'm thinking I may just ask for a very specific comission, I'll have to see..." Lysseth> Shoshana waves to N'tan as well, before peering towards Langley again. It is. "Hey there Langley." she greets cheerfully, waving at the rider. Lysseth> T'mren kisses Chaia and speaks quietly to her with a wink, before gazing around again. Lysseth> N'tan grins at Shoshana and walks over to her.... Hey Stranger. Lysseth> Langley catches that and makes a face at Salva. "I don't screech." She sticks out her tongue, grown-up-like, then waves with her fork at Shoshana. "Hey! Long time, no see!" Lysseth> In the water, F'lone splashes into the water from a remote beach. Lysseth> Salva grins unrepentantly at Langley. "Of /course/ you don't." she replies innocently. "Silly me. Whatcha going to commision, U'lyn?" Lysseth> In the water, F'lone swims to the south beach, and wades up out of the rolling waters. Lysseth> Chaia waves over to N'tan and Carianna, the latest arrivals from 'Reaches, and calls "Ista's Duties, and welcome. Try the spinach salad, it's wonderful." Evidently, she's pushing various dishes. You walk into the breezy tunnel, the faint rumbling sound falling water growing louder. You squeeze under the rock overhang and head back outside to the pool. Telgar Weyr> Macami growls at Schmitt. And Tieren.:) Telgar Weyr> Kassima belatedly waffles to Tieren. :) You return to the black expanse of the beach. You find an egg nestled in a hollow near the stream. Cracking it open, you see...A teeny gold firelizard plushy peers out with neck held in a proud pose. Sweet slips of jasmine spread over her torso like honey butter while cream covorts with carmine on her sails, kissing her spars with whispers of golden ivory. Two irridescent patches of embroidery, swirled into whorls, are her eerily lifelike eyes and a bit of artful stitching creates a slightly toothy maw below these. Clutched in it's tiny claws is a hide with the message: Congratulations! You've found egg #6 [Editor's Note: And there you have it. After all that wandering, I found an egg at last... on the main beach, the very room I started in. ;) ] T'mren mmms," Every time you mention that, I just want more of it, Chaia, love." Alaida glances over at N'tan and Charianna, smiling. "Ista Weyr's duties to High Reaches Weyr and her queens. " she greets before walking over to Chaia. Strolling harpers with gitars and pipes continue to weave among the crowd, even as the soft music they play twists and winds among the various conversations. A Telgari greenrider is given a brief interlude of a melody all her own. Shoshana smiles, "Hey N'tan." she greets cheerfully before grinning at the forkwaving Langley, "I know! How've you been? Hows life been?" she asks brightly. Carianna moves closer to the group still looking around at each tent but pauses as she's greeted again. "Bakers duties to Ista and her Queens." A glance is given to the greens dish and she quickly adds in a softer tone. "Umm maybe later." How she hopes her face doesn't display the dislike she has for the dish. N'tan looks over Shoshana, "Life is good...and getting better by the moment..." Chaia smiles, "The ribs are excellent as well, and the etoufee." She moves back to her weyrmate, then. F'lone searches along the shoreline and smiles as he comes back with an egg. Langley shrugs and swallows her last mouth full before replying to Shoshana. "I've been pretty well, I guess. And life's been speckled by greenflights lately, seems like!" That last with a wry smile. "Where've you been all this time, anyway?" T'mren's eyes light up, "Etoufee. I haven't tried /that/ yet." He turns to the table, eyeing it busily. Alaida leans up to whisper to Chaia. Riclair walks towards you from the southern beaches. Kassima, after all of her poking about here and elsewhere--and with sufficient twigs and pieces of greenery caught in her hair to serve as tinder for a bonfire--rises at last from a crouch by the stream with a pleased expression... though Lyss gets a thoroughly dirty look. "Let me guess," she drawls. "*This* is why 'twere so smug?" Though the dragon's rumble is nonchalant, her eyes whirl a faster blue yet, and the rider can only shake her head before flashing a smile towards one of the wandering Harpers. Carianna spots the tent she's looking for and makes her way towards it quietly. Carianna enters the Minecraft Tent. U'lyn turns to face Salva, using his hands to demonstrate. "I'm thinking I might get either one of those little dragons in a custom pose, or I might get another bracelet, I'm not really sure yet..." Shadra cuddles up with her gold dragon plushie and sips her smoothie. Chaia separates herself from T'mren long enough to answer Alaida's whisper, though she points out, "I think you spoke too soon...look..." And she gestures to the Telgari wingleader, and weyrling. Shoshana blinks at N'tan, and then nods, "That's good then." she replies, raising her eyebrows at Langley right after. "Greenflights? Must be really hectic 'round here then. Me? High Reaches, I went back after the Hatching, took up my duties again." she says happily. Alaida tilts her head, looking over at F'lone, then suddenly laughs. "What did you find there? " she calls to him. F'lone looks at the egg and walks over to Alaida. "Um. Ma'am. What does the number 11 mean?" he asks. Riclair strolls over from the south beach. In his hands is a spot of bright blue, but it doesn't seem to be a living firelizard. He waves to Salva and U'lyn, heading over to join them. N'tan says "So...who do you know here, Shoshana?" Shadra looks at Riclair. "Did you find one??" Alaida chuckles. "Congrats. You won an egg within Calista's clutch. Langley knots her brows a touch and says, "I didn't know you were from the High Reaches. Though I suppose that makes sense." She gestures toward N'tan and his High Reaches knot before asking, "Don't you miss the tropics at all?" Riclair shakes his head, though he doesn't seem /too/ terribly disappointed. "They're hid well. This little fellow here is the closest I found," he replies, holding up a blue dragon plushie. T'mren beams as he turnsto his weyrmate, "Here we go. I got a bowl of that...etoufee..." He peers at it. F'lone smiles. "Thanks." Shadra sips her drink and relaxes on the sand, nodding in time to the music and listening to the conversations around her. The strumming and piping ebbs and flows, taking the opposite dynamic of the most obvious conversations, rising in volume when speech lulls, and softening again as chatter increases. Salva oohs at U'lyn. "Nice! I hadn't thought of a custom pose...I'd do that, if I were you. Ric, did it have a number with it?" Chaia grins at T'mren, "It's good. /Really/ garlicky. It screams for ale to go with it, I think. And I don't even like ale." Riclair shakes his head. "Nope. I haven't seen any numbers on anything I've found." T'mren smacks his lips and grimaces, "Oh shards, it /is/ garlicky. So much so that even I can feel it. Yow." He turns to the table and fumbles for a tankard for some ale. Salva awws. "Too bad. Alaida, are there still eggs out?" she calls. "And if there are, my compliments for hiding them so impossibly." Langley wanders around in the tents for a while. Feet tapping, U'lyn listens to the music, smiling and tilting his head every once and a while. "I probably will. I've just gotta make sure it's not too expensive. Hey there Riclair! Yeah, that is too bad you haven't found anything. I just found a little shell bracelet, myself. It's pretty nice." Shadra smiles at U'lyn. "I got one with a 13 on it." Kassima shakes her way out of a conversation with her dragon, and picks her way closer to the young Istan greenrider to report, grinning, "I found one too--well, methinks; it has the number six? Felicitations t'you, too, F'lone." With a quick wink, she adds, "Telgar's made a good showing; that's four of 'em, methinks." T'lean steps out of the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Riclair nods to U'lyn. "I did find this," he corrects, tapping the tiny blue dragon. "Cute little fellow. I'm only sorry he doesn't talk back." Chalis walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. F'lone smiles and salutes. "Evening, Kassi. N'pece is here also." he notes with a smile. As more people report in with winning numbers, the music changes again, to an instrumental version of the Firelizard song. The pipers lead this tune, and some of the people in the crowd can be heard humming along, but, there's no formal singing. T'lean spots Kassi again and waves, "Hello again, enjoying yourself? Duzorth sleepily menitoend somehing that we're up to 4 now?" Shoshana glances around at N'tans question, "A few of the riders, Langley," she nods at the greenrider she's talking to, "Alaida, U'lyn, Salva and some others. I met them when I was a Candidate here." she hmms at Langley, "You didn't? Miss the tropics? Sometimes I suppose, in the winter, but I miss the people more. I like the cold now." Shadra hummms quietly to herself in tune with the music... but watches everything quietly. Salva watches the harpers. "Wonder if there's going to be dancing? Nassa mentioned it, and it might be entertaining to watch everyone try to dance on the sand...I'd slip." Chaia steals the bowl of etoufee from T'mren, since he's busy with ale, anyway. Hungrier than she realized, she finishes the bowl, and then looks at him with apologetic innocence. "You didn't want it any more, did you?" N'tan grins and whispers something to Shoshana... T'mren raises both eyebrows at his weyrmate, and laughs, "Shards, Chaia, you scarfed that down. WHy didn't you /say/ you were hungry? I'd better have some of my own now, or yo'ull knock me over tonight>" he teases her, and grabs another bowl, filling it carefully before digging in. "Mm. This /is/ good. Strong, but...good." U'lyn hums very softly along with the song. "Hopefully there's some dancing. I don't think I've /ever/ danced with you before," he remarks, seeming a little surprised by that fact. Riclair smiles at the mention of dancing in the sand. "Sounds like it'd be fun. Wish Jai could've come." Shadra tucks her golden plushie into a belt pouch and heads for the food, smiling Kassima bobs her head to F'lone, smiling. "Lyss mentioned it, aye... heyla, T'lean; enjoying myself's one word for it!" Laughing, she adds, "I'truth, I had a wonderful time exploring everywhere, and Lysseth's *terribly* amused that what I finally found was nigh right under m'nose." Salva pauses to think. "Huh. I don't think you have, isn't that strange? I danced with T'mren at the candidate dinner, and I think with S'ris during that dancing lesson, and Tarvin used to dance with me..." She grins at Ric. "I'll dance with you, after U'lyn, if there's dancing." she offers. Alaida speaks softly with Chaia, whispering about something, then nods. She turns to the crowd, smiling. "Well, that's it everyone! All the eggs have been found! Congrats to everyone! " T'mren glances at his weyrmate and smiles brightly, "Dancing. I can't wait for the dancing. That'll be fun." Chalis strolls down from the Plateau, pulling back errant strands of hair and retying them into a bunch at the back of her neck as she takes in the sights and smells along the beach. Craning her neck for a familiar face, she finally spots Kassi. "Kassima?" F'lone smiles and pulls out one of the other eggs he found. He opens it and shows Kassi the bracelet. "I found this too." he says with a smile. U'lyn beams at Salva as he finishes off his drink. "Good, I'd love to dance with you," he says, then gets up. "I think I'm gonna go see how much my comission would cost." Stretching again, he starts off towards the minecraft tent. Shadra picks up a plate and snags some sandwiches, a custard or two, some stuffed mushrooms, an a refill of the smoothies Riclair smiles at Salva. "Thanks. I accept the invitation, should dancing happen." He looks back toward the forest weyrs, sighing softly. "I may as well try some of this food they all worked so hard to make." "'Tis a pretty piece," Kassi tells F'lone, after leaning in to get a good peek. "I found one like it--'twill be for Kisai, I'm thinking. Though she's a bit small for it just yet...." Hearing her name called, the greenrider turns about--and hails, spotting the caller, "Chalis! G'day! Glad t'see you could be making it." T'lean chuckles at Kassi, "So did Lysseth spot it first and not tell you or just gloat you missed it?" Hmmm, with 4 out of 18, Telgar has done well. I dind't find any other presents though" Chaia laughs, "It will, I think." She nods, then listens to Alaida, and grins, "Well, we should have all these people back here next time anyone loses anything of value. They're great searchers." She lifts her voice then, to remind, "The craft tents will remain open for several more hours, the harpers will stay, and there's plenty more food." And, indeed, as the light begins to soften toward evening, drudges are arriving with glowbaskets on tall stakes that are set into the sand, lighting the tents, and marking off a dancing square where the sands are more firmly packed. U'lyn enters the Minecraft Tent. Shadra grins at Chaia. "And thanks to Alaia and Chaia for being very devious in hiding the plushies. Shoshana mutters to N'tan, "... her... glancing... the... look... know...I'm... very good at..." Salva chuckles at Riclair. "She may show up. If not, you should still try and enjoy yourself." With that advice she settles down in the sand again to listen to the music. Riclair nods to Salva, smiling a trifle, and slowly makes his way to the serving table. His eyes widen a bit as he looks over all the food. Selecting could take a while. Chalis flashes Kassima a grin, "Shawnah was kind enough to let me off early -- you ask me I'd say she's far too lax a Headwoman." She slips off her shoes and bends down to pick them up, "Lovely bracelets you have there," nodding to the riders, "...So I understand I've missed some kind of treasure hunt?" N'tan looks around... "I'm going to find a quieter group... Salva actually manages to drift off to sleep in her sand wallow. Good thing she's not too close to the crowd. Zynassa leaves the Minecraft Tent. Kassima has to admit, "I'm nay sure whether she did or didn't--*she's* nay telling, she's just being smug." And though the green grumbles, the sound is halfhearted at best. "Anyway, I had fun, and the plushie's darling--" After Chaia speaks, and she listens, she adds, "Mayhaps 'twill even escape the need t'go shopping. Though I rather doubt it. Watching dancing can be fun... aye, Chalis, 'twas a search for fire-lizard eggs and other treats. Shawnah herself's still here *somewhere* methinks." Shoshana nods at N'tan, "Alright." she says, drifting out into the crowd, pausing to chat every once and a while with people she knows. Shadra oofs as one of her younger siblings comes and wraps themselves around her leg to give her a hug goodbye, followed by the rest of her clan. She laughs and gives all of them a hug, then kneels to the very youngest and gives her the golden dragon plushie with a grin. "Here, Inasai, to scare away those big bad monsters that are somewhere around your side of the room." she grins and keeps the scrap of wherhide tho. N'tan heads to the south end of the beach. Zynassa ducks out of the minecraft tent, and heads towards the serving table. One of those smoothies is taken - her bargining in there must have been thirsty work, before she makes her way towards the couple of Telgari folk. "You still here, Kassi? Not that I'm sorry to see you, mind." She grins at the greenrider, nodding politely to Chalis. U'lyn leaves the Minecraft Tent. As the end of the hunt is announced, the harpers move toward the dance square, setting themselves up in one corner of the designated area. Their music picks up a bit, as those who were out strolling try to get the crowd to follow, to join. Drums are heard for the first time now. U'lyn makes his way back out of the tent, beaming widely. "I'm going to do some more searching," he says to noone in particular. Kassima's grinning nod to Zynassa dislodges a piece of leaf from her forelock. "Me, leave a Gather early in the evening?" she protests with mock-affront. "Never--but oh, that smoothie looks wonderful." She edges to the table herself to procure one, and once she has it, resumes: "It looks as though there's t'be dancing, and I'd hate t'miss seeing that. Will you be finding a partner t'join in?" Chalis ahs and shrugs, twisting a bit to let a bustling group in a hurry slip past. "Just my luck to miss out on it. But the tents look interesting enough, and over there it looks an awful lot like the bakers have set up shop..." She's distracted from this train of thought by Zynassa's nod, which she returns with a smile. "Good evening." Hroth launches off the plateau high above, and glides to a landing on the dark sand within minutes. Shadra waves as her family leaves to return to their home, but not before she receives the "I'm So Proud Of You!" speech from both Mother and Dad. Tavin stirs, having fallen asleep napping on the sands a small distance off from the crowd. He grimaces as he wipes sand off himself, then makes his way over to the Bakercraft Tent. Chaia murmurs to T'mren, "Love...they'll be dancing soon...hear the music? But i heard the winecrafters brought some of that cider you wanted me to try?" Kassima nods to Chalis, too. "Between that and the food tables, 'tis surely certain that nay anyone will starve. Truly a magnificent spread they've provided... oh, have you met Zynassa yet?" She splits a look between the two over the rim of her orange smoothie. Tavin enters the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Shoshana enters the BakerCraft Gather Tent. In the air overhead, Semeth soars out of the bowl proper, and out over the corrals. In the air overhead, Semeth flies down to the black sand of the beach. Semeth backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Zynassa eyes Kassima for a long minute. "He's taken up with a goldrider, if that's what you're asking." Her tone is bemused. "Seems she had, ah, more to offer? Well, at least that brown of his is happy. I was going to try to drag P'tod and S'ris away from their hides later and make them have a go, but who knows if that'll happen." She turns the grin over to Chalis, "One of Grissa's assistants here at the weyr. Well met." U'lyn ducks into the winecraft tent now, coming out with what looks to be a warm drink. Smiling softly, he spots Salva sleeping and plops down beside where she is, sighing as he pats his pockets. "So, how've you been, Riclair?" P'tod swings his leg over Semeth's neck and slides to the ground. Shadra waves at P'tod. "Come join the festivities." P'tod waves to Shadra. "Hi there! Hope I didn't miss too much. What's going on?" Duzorth warbles to the new arivals Riclair looks up from his plate. "Not bad. Work on the new drainage canals for the garden has kept me pretty busy." Kassima breathes out a soft sound of comprehension. "Ah... I'm sorry. I hadn't heard aught about that--at least naught that's *recent*. You may be in good time for dragging P'tod--" She nods towards the newly-arrived brown pair, waving to the young Weyrlingmaster for good measure. "Will you tell me more of Istan happenings, 'Nassa? If'n nay here and now, then later? I don't hear nearly as much gossip from Kay as 'twould *like*." List of Eggs and Hatchlings 1. Black Onyx Star Egg 2. Purple Mountains Amethyst Egg 3. Vaguely Variegated Egg Chalis bobs her head, "And well met to you, too," she returns cheerfully to Zynassa, "I'm Chalis, recently bunked up as a resident up at Telgar Weyr. I have no idea who Grissa is," she grins, "but if she has assistants I suppose that limits the possibilities." After which she just listens carefully and looks, trying to match all the names mentioned -- P'tod, S'ris, and whoever else -- to faces. U'lyn eyes a piece of black hair that had fallen almost into his eyes, then brushes it back. "Good busy, though?" he asks, twisting his mouth to the side as he tastes his drink. "Crazy winecraft girl, this isn't klah...but, it is good..." Couples start to peal themselves from the beach and move toward the dancing area now that the Harpers start playing the more livly, dancing tunes. Turn in turn, they whirl around the make-shift sandy dancing area, dancing a jig to the excited music that almost makes this area look more like a Gather than a festival! T'mren mms softly and nods to Chaia, "THat sounds like an idea, love. Let's go try that." Riclair swallows a mouthful of broiled fingertail. "What about you, U'lyn? You and Salva still getting along all right?" Yeah, the good kind of busy." F'lone enters the Minecraft Tent. Chaia smiles, and nods... Chaia goes into the Winecraft pavillion. P'tod waves back to Kassima. "Hey there, Ista's duties to Telgar!" he calls, trotting over to her. "How goes? I've not seen hide or hair of Kaylira, lately, guess she must've decided to stay at Telgar, after all? How's she doing?" T'mren goes into the Winecraft pavillion. Riclair nods to U'lyn, forgetting his own question for the moment. "Yeah, it's the good kind of busy. Hard, hot work, but I know something about it, so I'm not just listening to instructions." Zynassa follows Kassima's wave and does likewise to the brownrider as he comes on over, craning her neck to see Semeth down the beach. She grins at Chablis, "Grissa's our headwoman. And to be honest, Kassi, I've not seen Kay in a wher's age. Since Grissa roped me in I've been fair busy - never knew there'd be that much hidework to be done. Working with the fosterlings partly, and the Harpers to see they get shunted into doing things right for them. And about the other, well," she shrugs. "He doesn't know what he's missing," she finishes, with a fair amount of bravado. Shadra finishes her food and drink and puts her dishes in a bin for washing later, then turns to start clapping in time to the music. Hroth launches into the air, and flies up to the high plateau. U'lyn smiles excitedly all of a sudden, for no apparent reason. "We're doing good, thanks. She's been in a....wierd mood lately, though." His feet start tapping unconciously to the beat of the music again. Riclair hmms. He sets down his empty plate. "Weird? What kind of wierd?" Kassima drops her volume to murmur sotto voce to Chalis, "S'ris is Ista's Weyrleader; P'tod's--ah, P'tod's right here!" Lifting her voice, she replies, "And our duties t'you and yours! Methinks she may still be making up her mind on the matter--I'm nay complaining about the delay, t'be honest. But she's otherwise well. She seemed t'take the Telgar Hatching better than the Istan... I'm hoping 'tis truly so, nay just a seeming." With her eyes turned back on Zynassa, she nods, once. Sympathetically. "The loss is entirely his. And I have nary a doubt--I'd even wager on it--that you'll find another, one of your own." U'lyn leans closer to Riclair. He mutters to Riclair, "You'll... her. I'm....not... she... me... about..." F'lone leaves the Minecraft Tent. Chalis nods to Kassima, flicking her a grateful glance, and looks again to Zynassa, "Competing with a goldrider, shells, that does sound like a bit of a challenge. If you don't mind my saying. One disadvantage to Weyr existence I _haven't_ really thought through yet." Riclair nods, probaly at what U'lyn was saying. "I'll...when...then. Thanks...know." He lowers his head. "She...worry...times." It isn't long when one song is finished than another starts up. The Harpers are now in full swing with only the brief stop to switch off so others can rest and get something to eat. The music keeps with an upbeat, making the dancers almost gather a nice lather while they move around the sandy dance floor. U'lyn pauses for a moment, then adds something. He mutters to Riclair, "It's... thing, much.... just not... if... getting... wondered... it,... I... get on her... side. Ever." P'tod grins. "You ought to've dragged her to this affair, I'd've been glad to help her along, making up her mind, beach and food and all," he says. "It's hard luck she didn't impress the second time around. I figured she was bound to; Semeth's choices've been proved out pretty well otherwise, thus far, but I guess she's time yet, hasn't she?" Riclair smiles faintly. "...always...a.... Don't...safe...me." U'lyn grins, obviously satisfied by Riclairs response as he continues to sip on his drink. "Good, good." Tavin steps out of the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Zynassa nods ruefully to Chalis. "Hard when the fellow in question rides brown. If it's a bronze..." She trails off and rolls her eyes, before grinning at P'tod. "She does. And there's more to life than impressing, you know. Even if you're weyrbred with parents for riders." She looks to Kassi, "Kay'll find that out. I need to invite her down again for a visit. Maybe that'll help make up her mind>" Casmira walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. "Thanks be t'Faranth, aye." Kassi's voice is rather fervent. "She's nay nigh old enough t'be *too* old--eighteen, just. I'm hoping another clutch will hold her lifemate... there's nay reason t'believe she won't Impress eventually." Now, is it herself that she's trying to convince here? "Anyway. I'm sure you *would* help t'convince her! How Telgar could hope t'compete with such comforts as you have here... nay t'mention the games; did you try the hunt?" Alaida finally just relaxes as she sits next to Calista and her clutch. She watches everyone and the dancers with a smile, but stays pretty much silent through it all. Tavin walks out with two bubblies in hand, one half-eaten. He finds a seat off to the side, a clear view of the eggs available to him. His eyes scan the crowd, but it seems he doesn't know anyone, as he just continues to eat the bubbly complacently. P'tod shakes his head. "Not I, but I've got firelizards enough and to spare. Salek was so excited about it, though. I don't see him about, wonder if he's still at it?" F'lone looks around a moment before walking over towards Kassima and stops. He clears his throat a little and grins. "Kassima?" Kassima winks to Zynassa, then. "You just never know. There've been those who turn down a goldrider t'pair with the 'lesser' lights! So long as there's love, position should be irrelevant, I'd be thinking... but if'n you can help Kay," more seriously spoken, "then I'd be much obliged. I still worry for her, for all that she doesn't seem in poor spirits. But here I'm nattering your ears off, when didn't you say you intended t'drag off P'tod?" Eyes dancing, she adds, "I'm sure you'd benefit from being dragged, Weyrlingmaster. Can't say I saw your son while 'twas hunting, but... aye, F'lone?" Zynassa ahs to P'tod. "Salek found his egg and prize to boot. We started off looking together, split up, and then paired up again to help a lad from the Reaches." As Kassima puts in her quarter mark, she grins at the brownrider. "I was going to try to drag you in for a dance. Fluria's not here, and you should enjoy yourself." She confides, "I plan on lassoing S'ris later. He needs to give Yaz some of those hides. Keep his arse grounded more rather than flitting off to the Reaches." U'lyn finishes off the rest of his drink, eyeing Salva for a moment, but then thinking the better of waking her up. "Alaida? Is Jalar going to show up?" F'lone pauses a moment at the mention of Kay's name. He straightens his shoulders and gives a slight bow. "Might have the honour of getting a dance with you?" he asks, though he stumbles a little with the words, he gives her a big smile. Shoshana steps out of the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Casmira wanders in, looking a bit lost, and finds a seat at a table.... Alaida glances to U'lyn, then smiles suddenly. "I truly hope so. It would be very nice to see him. " Riclair glances up, noticing a familiar face. "Hey! Casmira!" Nodding to U'lyn, he stands and moves to join her, pausing at her table. "What brings you this way?" Chalis, looking a bit amused as those she was talking to pair off to dance, slips away in the direction of some of those baked goods. Chalis enters the BakerCraft Gather Tent. Kassima begins to ask, "What's Yaz doing at the 'Reaches--?" But first the bow, and then the question, quite distract her. "Welladay, prettily asked!" Evidently so; she's slightly pink, but smiling. "You *might*, F'lone, but are you sure you know what you're asking? I'm the worst dancer south of the Northern Icefields, and you'd likely end up with broken toes." Kaimi walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. "In that case," says U'lyn, "D'you want to dance? I haven't done it in /so/ long, and I don't think Salva wants to be awoken at the moment." Telgar Weyr> Chalis sighs and must go just as the Istan festivities were getting good! See you all later :) Casmira looks up, and sees a familiar face....she smiles."Hello Riclair. How are you? I heard there was a party going on, and caught a ride with someone." Telgar Weyr> Kassima zhaiwaffles to Chalis! F'lone grins and nods. "Yes, Kassima. I know who I'm asking. And I've got thick boots on." he says with a chuckle. Hroth launches off the plateau high above, and glides to a landing on the dark sand within minutes. Shoshana heads out of the baker tent, blinking as she spots Casmira. "Cas!" she exclaims, weaving her way through the crowd towards her. P'tod grins at Zynassa. "Well, that's good news. I'm sure he'll be pleased, and it's a good time for him to take on a pet, I think -- ah, sure, I'll join you for a dance. I don't suppose you know where Fluria did get herself off to?" The music continues but then starts to slow down. Finally ending. There's a brief pause before the Harpers start up a new song, but this time more slowly. A few couples walk off the floor to get something to eat or drink - others stay on to dance in a slow dance. The closeness of bodies and the gentle music only suggests this could be only of the Harper's lovesongs. Casmira hears a voice she knows, and turns her head to look. Grining, she waves back..."Sho!" Kaimi comes down carefully carrying another plater that she sets on the serving stable to replace something that was running out. She pauses to scan the crowd for any familier faces. From Casmira's shoulder, Sheba trills a hello to Shoshana Shawnah walks back onto the beach, glancing warily at those speaking of dancing before quietly sneaking into the crowd to find somewhere to sit. Kassima can only shake her head at the young Weyrling's evident masochism, but--after a brief detour to tuck her acquired belongings into Lysseth's protective lee--returns to execute a curtsey to him. "Then I accept," says she, "and on your head--and feet--be it!" Zynassa shakes her head at P'tod, offering a hand before glancing to the more packed sand of the dancing square. "I've not a clue, P'tod. She's just as bad as S'ris. We need to make a plan of attack and lasso them both, so neither can rescue the other. All work and no play makes weyrleaders dull folk." Her tone is amused. Tavin is munching on his bubblies, and spots Kaimi as she sets her platter down. He gives her a half-hearted wave as he struggles to his feet to start walking towards her. Riclair nods, smiling. "Well, you heard right about the party. There was an egg treasure hunt earlier, and the dancing started not long ago," he replies. He glances up at the sudden exchange. "Hi, Shoshana! Here for the festival too?" U'lyn listens as the music slows way down, then shakes his head. "Nevermind, scratch that. That wouldn't feel right..." F'lone chuckles and holds out his hand to escort Kassima to the dance floor. Chaia comes out of the Winecraft pavillion. Casmira looks interested..."A treasure hunt?" P'tod looks dubious about that plan. "How about we just lasso Fluria?" he suggests, letting Zynassa take his hand to lead him where she will. Kaimi smiles and returns Tavin's wave as he approches, "Heyla Tavin. Having fun so far?" T'mren comes out of the Winecraft pavillion. Alaida calls out suddenly."With a large rope to tie around her, P'tod! " Kassima takes the proffered hand, holding the hem of her skirts out of the way with her other. "Don't say I didn't warn you," is her last caution to the brave brownrider. Riclair nods. "The big prizes were firelizard eggs from a recent clutch here. By the look of things, they may hatch very soon." Erelan joins her fellow harpers in playing a soft romantic dance-tune, the melody merging with the waning light and the soft lapping of the waves against the shore. Zynassa walks P'tod towards teh dancing square. "Well, because then S'ris'll come to her with some mouldering old hide for her to look at, and we're right back where we started." She bursts out laughing at the yelled comment as the square is reached. "Do we *have* enough rope for that?" Shoshana grins at Casmira, and waves at Kaimi, spotting her as well. "Heya Kai!" she calls, before nodding at Riclair. "Hi Riclair...yes. Doing a little at the baker tent, and got to see some old friends too." T'mren steps out of the tent with Chaia, his hand squeezing hers lightly, and listens, "Chaia, love. Listen, a slow song. Shall we?" He masks, with a smile. F'lone smiles and leads Kassima out to the dance floor. As they reach the dance floor, he keeps hold of the one hand and slips his other around her waist and starts to lead her around the floor in slow steps. Tavin wrinkles his nose. "I suppose," he allows, actually smiling a little. "I hate being so sandy, but..." He shrugs, then shows Kaimi a small raggedy 'lizard doll. "I think I hafta wait until those things hatch," he sighs, nodding towards teh eggs. Chaia smiles softly, "I'd love that...." And she lets T'mren lead her to the dance square. U'lyn gently rocks back and forth in the sand, watching Salva sleep. After a little while, he begins softly humming to the music, finishing off his drink. "That was good," he thinks, outloud. P'tod grins. "Well, we could dump S'ris in some corner, I suppose," he muses, "and haul Fluria out for a bit of fun." Telgar Weyr> Kindre says, "Where are we supposed to land? :)" Shawnah remains quiet, though her idle searching of the crowd brings her gaze toward the dance floor. An amused little grin appears on her face as she spots Kassima and F'lone, and then she's watching the rest of the dancers as well. Telgar Weyr> Macami hates the Ista airspace, I'll never figure it out. :) T'mren slips his arm around Chaia's slender waist,a nd leads her onto the dance stage area. Turning to her, one hand on her hips as the other slips around her, he guides her into a slow revolving step, smiling contentedly at her. Casmira looks surprised...."Really? I'm sorry I missed that. But my Sheba may rise soon, so I expect I'll have eggs around my room soon anyway." She smiles at Shoshana, "Did you make some of your famous cookies for the party?" Since the steps are slow, Kassi manages to follow F'lone's lead with reasonably little mishap--she doesn't maim anyone straight away, at least, which is saying something. "Perhaps you should ask Shawnah to dance next," she suggests to him in a murmur just loud enough for him to hear above the music. "Doubtless she'd be thankful of a partner, and you seem good at this." Riclair nods to Shoshana. "Hope they haven't been keeping you too busy to have fun, too," he says with a grin. He glances to Casmira, remembering her earlier look of discomfort. "Is it your first time at the festival?" Strangely, though the Harper music, there's a soft thumming that starts and slowly gets louder. Anyone near Calista can tell she is making a bit of the noise with the faire around her also thumming away. A few of the firelizards instantly dash off to the sea, only to come back with seagreens and small fish. Shadra blinkblinkies. "Uh Oh.." she grins. Zynassa gathers up skirts, ready to begin the turn around the square and wrinkles her nose at P'tod. "Oh, don't be such a sourpuss. Though if there's enough rope to porcine-tie Fluria, then S'ris shouldn't be left out." In the air overhead, Herath soars out of the bowl proper, and out over the corrals. Kaimi waves to Shohsana as well, "Sho! You made it. Wonderful." Then turns to raise an eyebrow at Tavin, "Hmm, don't care for the sand hmm, why doesn't that suprise me much." She also seems highly amussed to see the 'lizard doll', "Oh, so you had some success in the treasure hunt. How fun." Telgar Weyr> Aisling says, "Keep turning right. Eventually you will find your way ;)." Herath backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Kindre gives Herath's neck a loving rub before she slips down with the polished ease of familiarity. The gold's eyes seem to burn through Kindre until she is certain her lifemate is sure-footed on the ground, then turn equally as hot to the surroundings in a quick survey. "Hey, now," P'tod says, coming to gallant defense of his weyrmate, "What're you trying to insinuate here about Fluria, anyhow?" Duzorth buggles to herath Shadra waves at the drudges, who immediately bring out several covered containers. They're opened to reveal a variety of meat and fish and spiderclaws, fresh for the Hatchlings. Alaida sits up suddenly, blinking as she watches her faire dash out to get the food. "You silly things! We have food for them! " she carefully reaches over, uncovering the eggs from the sand then calls. "Can someone get me a glow basket? I can't see here. " Telgar Weyr> Shawnah eyes Kassima. "Bad idea.. Shawnah's a worse dancer than you!" ;) F'lone smiles as he leads Kassi through a pace that begins to pick up a little. "Thanks, Kassi. It comes with growing up around four girls." he says with a chuckle. Casmira smiles..."Well. I've been at festivals before, as a trader. But then I was always working behind the counter so I.....what's that?" Her two firelizards start to softly hum.... Telgar Weyr> Kassima says, "There exist worse dancers than Kassi? That's rather terrifying. ;)" Hroth warbles a greeting to Herath. Shoshana grins at Cas, "For here? Of course not, they have their own bakers. Like Kaimi..." she nods towards her baker friend, a bit farther into the crowd. "I did, you did a fantastic job by the way." she calls to the indicated baker. Riclair gets a smile, "Of course not, I'm just helping a little." Lykke, Nassa's little green, chirps confusedly to Calista. The scatterbrained young lizard starts to arrange seaweed, huffing at a blue in the way. Aerilyn quietly wanders down from the plateau. She's smiling but still looks a little out of her element, eyes searching for a familiar face...or at least a friendly one Shadra moves for the sand and watches as the glows are brought. Telgar Weyr> T'lean chuckles.. "Telgar's duties," Kindre calls across the crowd, catching whoever she may with the dutiful greeting, and then busies herself with getting Herath's straps coiled up. The gold warbles respectful greetings to the other dragons while she watches her rider with a somewhat comical expression. Catching sight of some familiar faces, she heads that way. Telgar Weyr> Shawnah grins. "Shawnah's made of all these weird angles that.. just don't move right." ;) U'lyn eyes his empty cup before placing it in the sand carefully, and clasping his hands together, watching the 'lizards with a smile. Clarion suddenly pops out of between, squawking loudly before flitting out over the water. Telgar Weyr> Kindre stays the heck away from dance floors ICly! ;) Tavin gives Kaimi a sharp look, but doesn't quite seem too upset. "Yeah, I didn't really know I'd get one of those.. pesky.. flitterbys," he grumbles. "I'll train this one right, though, just you watch." He turns, frowning. "What's that noise?" he asks of the thrumming. Calista chirples with her eyes whirling a fast blue now and starts to make noises as if she was direction the other lizards on how she wants the food arranged. Riclair glances up. "/That/ would be the grand prize of the treasure hunt. looks liek I was right about them hatching soon! Do you have an egg waiting on you, Shoshana?" Casmira listens to her fire lizards, and smiles...."I do believe that the eggs might be hatching soon." Perfectly in step with her weyrmate, her hands locked behind his neck, ignoring a more formal posture, Chaia is lost in the music. If the thrumming of 'lizards reaches her ears, she hasn't shown it, and the harpers seem unhurried, as if they have ample time to finish their tune. Kassima does have a bit more difficulty with the quickened pace; she *tries* not to step on F'lone's feet, thick-booted or not, but that's not necessarily to say that she's successful. "That would also explain," she teases, eyes sparkling, "the gifts you got for Kay--most women are better about accepting gifts than the minxlet, I've found." Though her rider is distracted, Lysseth warbles greetings to Herath and her rider both. Casmira admonishes her pets..."You two stay over here, they have plenty of help and we don't want to get in the way. Anyway, you can see it from here." Alaida carefully gets the eggs uncovered, showing that they are indeed moving, jerking spazmatically as the hatchlings within start to make it known they want out! Zynassa laughs at P'tod. "Simply that she works too much. And if you're not careful, you'll fall into that same trap. It's already starting with all those hides of yours. That's what you have assistants for. Grissa proves that to Chaia, Kati and I daily." She doesn't seem aware of the commotion near the eggs just yet. Aerilyn wanders closer to the sand, and the eggs. She settles quietly, a bit in the shadows. She watches the eggs, holding the little emerald green plushie she found earlier. T'lean chuckles at the Telgar dancers and just stays out of it,not wanting to make things any worse. Kaimi giggles softly at Tavin, "I think your pesky flitterby is prepairing to make it's apperance. I'm sure you'll have as much success as anyone could at training it Tav. You better head over there." Joshi drops down to the ground from the back of a brownrider's dragon with Igen knots. She smiles up at him and then says something inaudible amongst the crowd for the festival. She turns, bootheels digging into the sand grains and heads towards the crowd. Two moments later, another figure tumbles off the dragon, this one slightly chubby and male. "Hey Joshi! Wait up!" the boy cries out following. Alaida jumps up and smoothly moves to grab a larger glow basket to put it near the clutch so the eggs could be seen clearly. Tavin looks at Kaimi with a sigh, as if trying to figure out if she's trying to tease him. "Just wait, it'll be obedient, and not eat scraps, and..." He trails off, turning to walk towards the egg heap wearily. Casmira looks at Shoshana..."I'm sure they have wonderful bakers here for the party. But I do love your cookies! Could you makse some more soon, at they Weyr?" P'tod snorts. "Indeed. I'll have to begin recruiting a few more of them directly, we had some attrition after Sonya went tot he wings." Herath warbles more friendly greetins in reply to Lysseth, Hroth and Duzorth, her rider now making her way towards the edge of the dancing area. "Still here," Kindre wonders of T'lean. Crossing her arms on her chest she apparently plans on staying on the outside of things for now. Shadra smiles at everyone. "I took the time to send word tot he Kitchen that there may be a Hatching.. so they prepped the meat and fish and whatever they could find into bowls. I diddn't know what was needed so I left it up to them." Shawnah's eyes squint a bit, as apparently she tries to make out what a few of the people on the dance floor might be saying. Kindre is spooted, or rather, heard first and then spotted, and she straightens a bit and waves. "You made it!" she calls out to the goldrider cheerfully, and then blinks as Nny suddenly pops from *between* and lands on her shoulder, chirpling excitedly. "WOndered when you'd wake up, rock." she murmers, and then glances toward Alaida at her announcement. Calista continues her humming softly intermixed with a sweet crooning as she tilts her head, peering at her wiggling eggs. She leans her nose down, giving one a gentle nuzzle in a way that shows her material side very well. She looks up at the others around and gives a small chirp, almost as if to say they are now ready and her duty is almost finished. From Casmira's shoulder, Sheba arches her neck, coyly, at the attention from Riclair. She's still humming, though. Kaimi snickers softly as Tavin walks away then heads over to join Sho and watch from there, "Well this should be intresting." Alaida looks up, calling into the crowd. "For those you found winning eggs... " then she stops at the din of the Harper music and her voice being hard to carry. Kindre bobs her head and offers a wavew to Shawnah. "Yup, finally," she calls over to the young Headwoman and smiles wide. "I know your hidemanship better than even Rennick's now," she says jokingly and winks. She, too, quiets to listen to Alaida's words. T'lean chuckles on spotting kindre and heads over to the clutch on the beach, looking for his egg, and oh, grabs a heary bit of meat from the tables to feed the hatchling with Lykke fans her wings excitedly, chirping at the blue near her to look sharp and pay attention! Then she settles back, and emits a high-pitched humming, just at the right tone to jangle discordantly with the Harpers' tune. It's enough to make anyone with any sense of tonality wince. Shoshana shakes her head at Riclair, "Oh no, not me. Not that I'd care for one really, I've got my hands full already. What about you? Did you join the hunt?" She nods at Cas, "Of course I will." she nods to Kai, "It should...oh Kaimi, this is Casmira, my cousin. Cas, this is Kaimi." Somewhat reluctantly, the harpers wind down the slow tune, and take a break, their attention turning toward Alaida. Looking behind her, Joshi notices the chubbier person following her and then begins to walk faster. "Leave me alone Baihrd! You promised you wouldn't come and then you did. Go away." The girl and boy closer to the crowd show similar features with dark eyes and sandy hair. Joshi looks through the crowd and spotting a familiar face, hurries over towards "Aerilyn!" She calls the girl's name as she gets closer. Tavin looks over at T'lean, who has a bit of meat. He asks, in a tone that indicates he doesn't really want to have to ask, "So what, we're supposed to feed them right away?" Verceth launches off the plateau high above, and glides to a landing on the dark sand within minutes. Tiger,Tiger's Eye Egg gives a spazzmic jerk in its little nessled wallow of sand. Very slowly it begins to work its way out and roll against the nearest egg. T'lean says "Well, it helped with my others, though it has been a while" Aerilyn is just inching closer to the sand, and the eggs but she looks up and waves at Joshi, "Hey.." her lips curve into a bright smile, "I got one of the winning eggs..." and she gestures at the eggs she's been so eagerly watching. Casmira smiles..."Hello Kaimi, well met." Mara leaves Verceth's back, joining the others on the ground. Zynassa nods to P'tod. "Well, we've still got a bit for Omfaleth's clutch hatches. Oh, they've stopped, what *is* that wracket." The source is traced to Lykke, humming delightedly. "Shells and shards, I hope I never manage to find a clutch of hers after she mates." Verceth lands well away from the crowd, leaving Mara a good hike down the beach before she gets toward the others. Kassima may be distracted by the dance, but her fair's humming is hard to ignore, and it draws her attention towards Alaida. "Now that's timing," she murmurs in amused approval. Along with F'lone, most likely, she exits the dance floor to get closer to the eggs, snagging her smoothie along the way. Riclair nods to Kaimi with a smile. "Hi, Kaimi," he says, before turning his attention back to the hatching he doesn't want to miss. Alaida smiles in relief to the Harpers and calls again. "Those who had won eggs, please get some meat. The eggs are about to hatch! Kindre edges towards the firelizard eggs to get a peek and then takes several decided steps back away. "Have enough of those to protect from Herath," she murmurs quietly and chuckles, content it seems to simply stand and watch. Tavin grimaces at T'lean's answer, but nods and turns to go find some meat. Upon finding some, he returns with a handful of little bits, shuddering. "This'd better go fast, this is disgusting," he mutters as he edges back towards the eggs. Salek bounces across the sand, having seemingly materialized out of nowhere, and pelts toward the dancing square. "Daddy! Hey, Daddy!" he yells jubilantly, rushing up, heedless of the other dancing couples. Aerilyn darts off for a moment, getting some meat for herself. She comes back, gesturing for Joshi to come cheer for her...if she will. Shawnah gives Kindre one of her trademark sheepish grins, about to say something, then stops as Alaida makes her second announcement. Standing, she picks up her little bronze plushie and makes her way toward the eggs as Nny's chirruping gets even more excited. Kaimi smiles, "Your cousin? Well met Casmira." Then smiles to Riclair as well, "Hey there." She shifts so that she can stand with her friends and watch the impressiones as well. Alaida says "Does everyone remember the eggs I pointed them out to?" Shoshana turns towards the eggs and other people, remarking to Kaimi, Casmira, and Riclair, "It's starting I think. It's always fun to watch these." Serving people and others troop out to set bowls beside those who won eggs. One server sneaks over by Shadra and grins. "The Kitchen says to wear this in good health." she hands over A Knot with a tiny wooden spoon attatched to the end. T'lean nods to alaida, "Mine's the unusual variegated one" P'tod blinks and looks over. "Oh, hi, Salek... not while the grownups are dancing, okay? Wait outside the square." Shadra nods. "I have the Lapis one." Salek jumps up and down. "But look! The eggs are about to hatch and /I/ get one! You have to see!" Tavin nods at Alaida's question, and shifts from one foot to the other, uncomfortable with the meat in his hands. "Think you could maybe hurry that one up?" He points to the heart's true love rose quartz egg. Joshi grabs at a passing plate and manages to take someone's roll before they can see. She slides through two people and lands directly where Aerilyn is. "What's going on?" She's a little out of breath and looks around to make sure her brother didn't follow her. Zynassa slips away from P'tod as Salek appears, grinning at the lad. "We both won eggs, P'tod. You've got a sixth sense, Salek. Let's go get some meat, hm?" She winks to P'tod, and then threads her way through the crowd, nodding a grin to Kindre as she passes her. "Ista's duties - good to see you, weyrwoman." Blood Red Carnelian Egg jerks and practically leaps out of its little wallow of black sand. It begins to roll down the mound, only to get stopped by the other eggs and the ring of food. Aerilyn nods a bit, "The red one...." she murmurs as she grins at Joshi, "Hatching.....we had an egg hunt for those of us who get to try for lizards..." Casmira smiles..."Yes, we are. And when Sheba lays you have got to help me with it Shos! Maybe you could take one?" She looks hopeful. Kaimi chuckles at Tavin as she over hears him and stage whispers to Sho, "Always impatiant that one. Isn't he?" "Telgar's duties to Ista," Kindre replies to Zynassa and smiles. "Good to see you as well, and thank you." She watches as the prize winners move around the eggs and grins. "I hadn't heard 'til just now that these were awarded during the festivities." Aerilyn eeps softly, watching the red egg tumble down the sand. Her lake blue eyes are wide, and she kneels in the sand, though she winks up at Joshi as she watches eagerly. Shadra smiles and points. "Look, the Tiger Eye and the Red egg are moving." she whispers. P'tod throws his hands up, acceding to the inevitable. "All right, all right. You know what to do?" he asks Salek, who nods eagerly and dashes back toward the clutch. All the other eggs within the clutch twitch and carry on, but it seems like those two - the blood red and the Tiger's eye are just about to hatch. Kassima ends up near the clutch with smoothie in one hand, a small plate of spiderclaws liberated from the food table in the other, and her gold plushie tucked safely into the crook of her elbow. "I'm thinking so..." she replies as she keeps a firm eye on one of the rocking eggs. Tavin doesn't seem to hear Kaimi's stage whisper, too busy glancing from his won egg to his hands, dripping with the meat. He looks almost nauseated and holds the dripping meat far from his body, out in front of him. Shawnah pushes her way a little more into the crowd surrounding the eggs, blue spikes bobbing among the heads probably the only thing able to be seen by anyone not directly beside her. "Mine was the mossy one.. I think.." she murmers, almost to herself though Alaida might be able to hear if Shawnah's managed to push close enough. Tiger,Tiger's Eye Egg gives yet another violent jerk and now stratons of cracks appear on its surface. Mara trots toward the clutch, half-waving. "Am I late?" she calls out toward Alaida, rubbing the back of her neck. "I fell asleep. Stupid early work." Zynassa chuckles to Kindre, "You should have been here earlier when the hunt was going on. We had fosterlings combing the back caverns to make sure no one got lost." She loads up a platter of meat and fish, "'Scuse me if you would?" Pleasantries done, she calls, "Hey, Salek! don't forget the meat." She makes her way to the lad, offering the platter to anyone nearby who is also waiting to claim their firelizard prizes. Shoshana blinks, "Take one? Oh I don't know...I have a lot on my hands with Timere and Klah already." The half-asleep brown on her shoulder cheeps tiredly. "I'm sure lots of people would be willing to take one." She chuckles at Kaimi, "Certainly." she whispers back. Wasn't that the apprentice Sho butted heads with once? Shadra holds her breath slightly to see what emerges from the egg. Alaida looks up at Mara and smiles. "Nope. You aren't late. They just started to twitch. Kindre chuckles again and then bobs her head as Zynassa moves towards the others. Joshi manages to escape her brother's attention for now and crouches down to watch. "Be careful," she advises Aerilyn. "They will attack you.. Mine bit my tongue." Not exactly comforting advice but she's just telling it like it happened to her. "Firelizards aren't always nice." Salek scoops up handfuls of meat from the platter and beams at Zynassa. "My one isn't wiggling yet," he complains. "Is it going to start soon?" Tiger,Tiger's Eye Egg: A deep, brown and golden tan jumps out of this large egg. It surely isn't one of the largest and there are others bigger, but the striking colours in which the light dances off its surface make it shimmer and change colours from one of the browns to almost black. At one moment, it disappeared in the black Ista sand is rests in, and other moments, it literally jumps out in its rich golden colour. Tiger,Tiger's Eye Egg gives another another jerk and the egg just seems to fall away as a tiny claw is seen, then a nose as the hatchling within attempts to push his way through the hard shell. T'lean hmmms, "So what's the final Telgar tally, 4 is it?" Tiger,Tiger's Eye Egg cracks open, and a Tumbling Topaz Bronze Hatchling tumbles out. The storm and rain have their own beauty, their own reason and rhyme. And even in their furry they have their own beauty, and when the sun break's their dark hold on the skies the two come together is a spectacular display of colors. It is these colors glory that is represented within this large bronze's flowing and yet colorfully light hide. Not the deep bronze of his brethren this hatchling is almost golden in his coloring, but there is that which distinguishes him from the rest, a hint of green, like a hill in springtime along the horizon. As he moves in his own version of grace, highlights flow across him, their colors all that can be found within the rainbow and more. Greens and blues, violets and crimsons, yellows and oranges all combine and mix to make him all the colors of firelizards at once. To see him in flight is the truest version of his glory, for then the storm and the sun which combine to make his hide show their own fury. Flashes here, brilliant sparkles there, stormy clouds of darkest bronze flowing across all. Like the storm is he in flight and yet not. All and none at once. And thus is he. An enigmatic hatchling, prone to his own sudden flurries and then just as sudden calms in his storms. The only one who might figure him out would be that who he looks to as his own. (Desc by Fluria) Aerilyn chuckles softly, "Good...maybe I can teach one to defend Ria from Lochy.." she grins as she thinks of her little kitten. She watches eagerly, not bothered by the blood dripping from the meat in her hands. Erelan retrieves two more cups of wine, and finds a seat in the sand, near enough to watch, but far enough away to be out of the way. She offers one of the cups to T'mren. Casmira looks a bit worried...."I asked at the Weyr, and there were tree or four people interested. There is bound to be more eggs than that....Oh look, the first is a bronze!" Erelan offers the second to Chaia, and murmurs quietly with her about what's needed next, so she can report back to her superiors. Kaimi giggles once more, "I guess Cupcake's been visting him at the Center again. Well, from what I've been hearing at least." Then ooh softly, "He's a hansome one isn't he?" Tumbling Topaz Bronze Hatchling instantly pushes through his shell, tumbling literally out of his shell and ends into a tiny heap of limbs and sticking sand over his wet, glissening bronze hide. He gives a pitiful creel at such a way to enter the world and attempts to right himself up. Riclair nods, watching in rapt attention. Apparently his ears still work fine, though. "And what a beauty he is, too!" Tavin glances at the bronze hatchling, then turns and murmurs, to no one inparticular, "Are they all so.. so gooey?" Zynassa chuckles. "I'm the wrong one to ask about eggs, Salek. I just impressed Lykke this turn." She peers at the little green and her dischordant humming, "Shells, Leka'd have a fit at her. - Oh! Look, he's a handzome one, isn't he?" A bit louder she asks, "Has everyone got enough meat?" Alaida glances around quickly for Kassima, then quickly motions her forward. Shadra nods to Zynassa. "I had the servants bring bins of meat fromt he Kitchen T'mren takes the cup and smiles at the girl, "Thank you Harper. Chaia, do you want some wine?" He offers his weyrmate, with a smile. Kassima leans in close as that small claw appears--and whistles, softly, once the little bronze has fully emerged. "Now you're a bonny, bonny lad," she murmurs, freeing a particularly large spiderclaw from her plate to wiggle in what she hopes is a tempting manner. "Poor boy! But see, you can set yourself t'rights." Casmira smiles brightly, "Oh yes! What a handsome fellow." Shoshana ooohs softly, "He's beautiful." she remarks about the hatchling. "I'm sure you can find more than three or four people Cas. Just keep asking around." she says comfortingly. She notices Mara and waves a bit, "Hey there Mara!" she calls. Joshi just stays hunkered down, not really minding. She does glance around at all the people who came to the festival, curious as to where they come from. Knots are counted and eyed, some from Tillek given an appraising glance for being from the runner-hold. But then her attention turns to the hatchling that crawls out. "Defend? Hah.. good luck. This green I found is lazy.. she's like a feline who sleeps all day." T'mren pauses as Erelan offers to CHaia, and smiles at her gratefully, "Ah, thank you, harper.' He murmurs, peering at the sands again. Shawnah's eyes take on that cute puppy look as the first hatchling tumbles out. "Aaaw." she exclaims softly, but stays back, waiting to see which one this is for. On her shoulder, Nny's excited chirples quickly turn to a happy hum of welcome. U'lyn gets up from his spot to casually watch the hatchng while leaning against the serving table. "That bronze is quite nice," he comments to the older man beside him. Kassima nods quickly to Alaida then, and edges forward a bit more with quick-whispered excuse-mes to those standing nearest. P'tod heads off to one side to wathc. Aerilyn laughs softly and nods to Joshi. She gives a little aw...of enjoyment at the little bronze, but then turns her eyes back to her own egg. Chaia has already been murmuring with the girl, inviting her visit the food tables. And she accepts the cup then, and moves closer to her weyrmate. Shadra watches intently to memorize how it is done, never having impressed a firelizard before. Erelan enters the Minecraft Tent. Tumbling Topaz Bronze Hatchling instantly tears into a fish at the edge of the mound. His creelings are loud but at the moment he sees that wiggling spiderclaw, he makes a lunge for it, only to yet go tumbling again. For all his beauty, he's a real clutz! He gives another creel, almost as if crying that he can't seem to get his feet under him! Mara scurries over to a spot near the others, making sure there's meat handy. She knows perfectly well which one to wait for, and it's not here yet. Zynassa shifts aside to make a hole for Kassi, still holding the platter for any of the winners to grab meat and fish from. Shadra moves slowly to help open a space and make room for Kassi. Riclair smiles at the little bronze's antics, leaning against a tent pole to watch. T'lean says "Yeah, a bronze for Telgar!" Blood Red Carnelian Egg twitches even more, its surface showing very small cracks over its blood red surface. It almost looks like oozing blood in the black sand. Kassima winces and rattles her tongue in faint distress. "You can do it," she encourages, her tone aimed at being comforting even if the bronze probably can't understand the words. "Just a few more steps--" And as she speaks, she inches the spiderclaw a bit nearer to him, more within reach. "D'you see?" Aerilyn's hands clap a tiny bit, smearing blood on them again as her egg moves, then cracks a bit. "wow" she whispers softly as she kneels at the edge, watching in awe. Tumbling Topaz Bronze Hatchling creels again, his eyes whirling a fast red of hunger. He finally just focuses on the spiderclaw - he /will/ accomplish this. It's only walking! He climbs to his feet, dragging his wet, glissening wings as if he was just too lazy to lift them to let them dry. This might be the problem of his coordination but finally he reaches for the spiderclaw, instantly snagging it and gobbling it down with almost grabbing the finger attached to it. Tavin is standing just a short distance from Aerilyn, and winces when she claps. He edges away, hands still held out as far from his body as possible- not so much towards the hatchlings as away from himself. Joshi just watches as the firelizards start to hatch. "Hey be careful," She advises Aerilyn watching her smear blood on her hands. "They might mistake your fingers for meat and then you'll have less digits than you had before." She advises this to the dragonhealer. Aerilyn actually giggles, grinning up at Joshi as she nods to the younger girl. She winks and watches her egg. Shawnah bites her lip, giggling as she watches the little bronze make its Great Journey to Kassima and food. "Good show!" she calls, perhaps for both hatchling and greenrider. Shadra winces at the bronze finger nibbler. Casmira grins..."He finally made it, good going little bronze!" Kassima very narrowly misses having her finger devoured; only quick reflexes--and experience with 'lizards--save her. "Now *that's* nay good manners," she reproaches him. Which isn't to say that she doesn't offer him another spiderclaw, the better to lure him in. Salek looks around for Zynassa. "Hey! Hey," he says when he finally spots her. "Which one is yours?" Blood Red Carnelian Egg finally begins to show more and more cracks along its surface with a claw showing, but at the last moment, the egg only just seems to disintergrate around the hatchling. Blood Red Carnelian Egg cracks open, and a Trusting Tourmaline Brown Hatchling tumbles out. Immense size has no compare to the startling color of this firelizard's hide. For he truly is a deep, smoke brown and yet there is more to it than that. All through that tantalizing and warm tone there are white streaks that make to look like cracks. It gives him a sharp edged and crystalline appearance, something not unpleasant. When one takes in the whole view of his great mass your eyes are drawn to the regal head. The wedge is a little longer, but topped with sharp crests of ridges. His eye ridges tilt slightly and give him a pouty look, while his head knobs are spaced evenly and simple. Flowing down his neck is the display of neck ridges that rise and fall in sharp lines. Even these have the white streaks though the brown is darker. From there spread his wings, easily twice his body size, and there is the best display. Like some semi-precious stone you can see through the sails but do not miss the crystalline effect that marks him as different. Those wings will carry him long and far someday. The tail, now, is longer than normal as well. The spaded end sharper than most but still quite capable as an air-rudder. The complete picture is an immense, imposing, but adorably cute lizard. (Desc by Fluria) Tumbling Topaz Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Kassima. Langley probably didn't know there was a firelizard hatching in progress or she likely wouldn't have come over from the tents. Shoshana nods, "He did...oh look at that brown. He's so dark!" she notes, nodding towards the newly hatched. Zynassa points out the black and white egg to Salek. "That one." She crouches down next to the lad so that those behind can see over her, heedles off her skirts and the sand. "Oooh! Whose is that one?" Aerilyn wows softly as she watches the hatching tumble out. She giggles a tiny bit and murmurs, 'He reminds me of L'son...." as she crouches, one hand reaching out to dangle a strip of bloody meat at the little brown, as she makes a purring noise of encouragement. Kaimi watches everyone a bit, but seems to be most amused with the actions of the baker apprentice. You might get the idea she likes to see him squirm a bit. Must be a trick of the imagination though. That's not much like the Kaimi that most here would know.. Is it? "Oh, he's nice too." Shadra smiles. "Wow. talk about a very handsome and.. large.. brown." Casmira looks at the brown, "Yes he is. And another handsome one as well." Kassima gathers her new charge in close and scoots back from the inner ring so as to leave room for the others, murmuring nonsense to the still-hungry bronze all the while. "Now, what *shall* I name you...?" "L'son? You think?" Joshi peers at the brown as if trying to match it up to the rider Aerilyn referred to. She shakes her head. "I don't see it. I'm gonna go get some food.. Want anything?" She stands to her feet. Trusting Tourmaline Brown Hatchling instantly shakes off his head before holding it up regally. He lifts his wings, showing that he is very nearly as dark as the black sand he rests on. He takes a few steps, then a few more but as invarible, he gives a small creel of his hunger and gives away his regalness for the one thing he can't live without - food! Aerilyn nods a little bit. "A smoothie...any kind.." she comments to Joshi, grinning at the brown hatchling. She jiggles the strip of meat temptingly while still purring to him. Tavin takes a step back as the brown hatches and shakes it's little head. "And are they all so /noisy/?" he murmurs. Again, to no one inparticular. "Mine'd better not be, that's all." Uh-huh. Salek shakes his head. "I dunno. Mine's that white one right there," he says, pointing at the Teardrop Moonstone egg. "It's not doing anything though." Mara almost absently seats herself in the sand to wait, peering around. "Langley!" she calls out, smiling. "Hi." Shoshana follows her fellow bakers gaze to the baker apprentice and...smirks? Surely not. Sho never smirks. But yes, that's a hint of a smirk, and amusment dancing in her eyes. She seems to be getting some enjoyment out of this too. Heart's True Love Rose Quartz Egg gives a small jiggle, then goes still, but it only starts more and more as the hatchling within now, as if sensing its clutchmates are making a break for it, that it shall too! Langley stays well to the fringes of the crowd, but heads over toward Mara anyway. "Hey. I thought the eggs were all hidden or something?" she remarks, nodding toward the congregation. "Always wearing green," she adds with a chuckled cluck of her tongue. Zynassa nods to Salek, "Give it time, it'll hatch soon enough." She puts the tray down and sorts through, grabbing bits of spiderclaw meat for herself. "It's about time!" Tavin exclaims shortly, having seen his egg at last move. He doesn't quite seem excited, but a bit dreading and anticipating trouble. He sighs and edges over carefully, not checking to see if he's blocking off anyone else as he gets closer to the Heart's True Love Rose Quartz egg. "C'mon," he urges impatiently. Trusting Tourmaline Brown Hatchling definitely knows what he wants and the instantly that wiggling piece of meat is presented to him, he goes right after it! Head held high, wings aloft to dry in the soft Ista breeze from the sea, he head directly for the meat to snag it, gobbling it down in a rather UNregal way! Shawnah turns her head, peering around to see where that comment came from - and smiles toward Tavin, "I'm afraid they all are, usually!" she calls, even as Nny continues to hum happily. Trusting Tourmaline Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Aerilyn. Mara grins toothily, straightening again. "This is after. They got found. I /like/ green," she says simply. "This is one of the outfits from Radar." Shadra looks around, watching those that have impressed, watching and learning. "Smoothie?" Joshi goes off to find the item preferred. Maybe the buffet peopel will know what it is. Her own hands tear apart the roll she had gathered and then look down and throw it aside. Sand grains from the beach had already gotten on the food. That leaves trying to find where they have the food so that sand can't reach it. Aerilyn giggles softly, and snags another piece for the regal little brown. In the process however, she does manage to spatter some in Tavin's direction...whether he gets showered with the bloody meat or not....well... Langley says a little tartly, "They should've taken them somewhere else or something." She looks over Mara carefully, obviously weighing the girl's attire before she shrugs. "I guess if you have to wear green..." Heart's True Love Rose Quartz Egg gives yet another twitch with its dainty rose coloured surface finally showing a network of cracks that only announce that presense that it could very well be next in line to hatch. Purple Mountains Amethyst Egg begins to twitch as well, looking almost as if the mountain was going to come crashing down with that tremer. Tavin looks purely disgusted and mortified. "Hey," he growls at Aerilyn. "Splatter that brown thing, not /me/." He hastily shakes the arm that did, indeed, get splatted. However, Shawnah's reply to his question distracts him and he groans, still watching the True Love egg. Kaimi snickers, and not to softly this time either, She mutters to Shoshana, "... he's not... that.... think... impress his?" Casmira hears the comment about green, and looking down at her own outfit, shrugs. Green is a very nice color. So is bright purple, and red, and... Aerilyn carefully gathers up her not so little brown and grins at Tavin. She actually intentionally tosses another bloody scrap of meat at him, before she starts to make her way over to whereever Joshi disappeared to. As if there was a race for these two eggs, both almost seem like they would want to hatch at the same time. Both the mountain and the heart's love start to show more and more cracks along its surface until first one, then the other just spill open to deposit their inhabitants. Purple Mountains Amethyst Egg cracks open, and a Sunny Jasper Brown Hatchling tumbles out. Sunny Jasper Brown is a warm fellow! Bold areas of tan with orangish borders are criss-crossed with lines of brown all over his hide. Like all of his kind, he does love to lay in the warm rays of Rukbat, but this guy takes his name from a sunny disposition. He's cheerful and seldom, if ever, upset. Strongly muscled, he'll take to the skies with gusto and merry chirp or bugle. His tail is lithe and also a bit longer than usual. His body is of normal size, but from nostril to tail-fork he out measures most of his peers. All in all, both in coloring and attitude, this little guy just calls out for a good scritching from any available hand. (Desc by Jalar) Mara straightens up, brushing her shirt. "That one's the one I got," she says, gesturing toward the amethyst egg and helping herself to a bit of meat. "And Brin helped me pick that colour, so..." Heart's True Love Rose Quartz Egg cracks open, and a Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling tumbles out. Silver and blue, forever twined in the dance of moonlight play across his wings and back in their gentle and striking display. Dark blue of midnight plays across his belly and glimpses of sprinkled silvery blue stars can be seen. Graceful and lithe of wing and whim, gentle as a summer's breeze or a drifting cloud. In day he sleeps, for night is his love. To dance with belior and it's sister are his wants, simple and perfect he sweep's through the night, a third moon all his own in the perfect silence of midnight which he encompases in every way. Silent, swift and romantic. (Desc by Fluria) Shoshana actually snickers, a wicked smile dancing on her features. She mutters to Kaimi, "I'm... he will,... around long... meat.... that his?" Casmira ooos...."These are pretty too, especially the blue." Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling practically leaps out of his shell, creeling loud, but almost in a way to say 'Tah dah! I'm here!' Its clutchmate, the little Sunny brown just takes it all in stride, giving a small warble before shaking off bits of his shell. Kaimi giggles at Sho's responce, "Hmm, not sure." Tavin spots the flying piece of meat and is about to duck when he also spots his Heart's True Love egg hatch. He pauses, and as a result gets *splatted* on his shoulder with the meat. A dirty look goes after Aerilyn, but his attention is on the blue hatchling. "Shhhh, you gotta be quiet," he tells it. Hands are held in front of him still, and he kneels. "Come here. Come on, here. Food, see? But don't expect me t'be always giving you my scraps," he grumbles. F'lone looks at the mound of sand, watching the eggs rocking and rolling. Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling suddenly bugles at Tavin. Ha! Silence is for the weak! Look at me! Love me! Take care of me! FEED ME! Mara dips down with the piece of meat she pilfered, offering it toward the brown. What does one say at a time like this. "Ah - here, lizard, lizard, lizard?" With her new bronze now sprawled in comfortable and well-fed slumber along her forearm, Kassi has more attention for the Hatching in progress. "They've all been beautiful hatchlings so far," she approves as she rubs a fingertip over her own's tiny eyeridges. "And what a voice on that one!" Casmira laughs...."Oh my! That blue sure is bold. He's going to be quite a handful." Tavin twitches a little at the bugle, as if slapped in the face with such a refusal of such a simple order. "Hush, hush," he tells the blue. "If you're quiet I might let you have more meat... but hurry up and eat this, it's absolutely gross. Look, I've got a meat-juice stain on my pants," he tells the blue. He seems to think the 'lizard understands him. Aerilyn makes her way out of the crowd, cradling her new darling and feeding him as she walks towards the edge, where Joshi is...she hopes. Langley folds her arms over her chest and hangs back. She shuffles to put a little sand over the tops of her sandals, just in case. Shoshana dissolves into giggles, "Oh yes he will. I'm sure his new person'll be...thrilled." she remarks to Cas, catching the baker apprentice twitch. She grins sideways to Kaimi. Kaimi giggles a bit more, She mutters to Shoshana, "... be... he?" Sunny Jasper Brown Hatchling only just seems a bit more restrained as he moves from his shell. He gives a strange little hop as a piece of shell just refuses to leave his foot and making him walk funny. He creels instantly, almost pitifully before he notices the meat in Mara's hand - oh yes, that could take his mind off that annoying piece of shell. He gives a delicate little chirple before stumbling in that direction. Despite his counterpart, he's definitely more quiet! Shawnah just stays where she is, watching the hatchlings with an amused expression, though Nny is given a little poke now and then, and at last a corner of the meat she is holding for him to gnaw on for a while. Joshi makes her way back carrying not only a cup with something unidentifiable in it, (to her but for others it would be a smoothie) and also a plate full of stuffed mushrooms, barbecued wherry and almost everything that was on the serving table is now on her plate. She meets Aerilyn at the edge holding out the cup. "here you go." Telgar Weyr> Kassima looks amused. Y'know, even with all my FLs... this is my first bronze. ;) Casmira grins at Shoshana..."If he survives." Mara takes a couple steps closer, kneeling in the sand afterwards, so the hatchling doesn't have to stagger so far. "Come on, lizard, come over here and I'll get the shell off your foot - hmm?" Telgar Weyr> Aisling oohhs. Neat T'lean hmmms, and keeps an eye on his still unmoving egg Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling bugles yet again! He will not be silent! He will be happy! Playful, HUNGRY! He reaches for the meat, then just /sits/ right there as if demanding Tavin to come to him. Aerilyn accepts the cup and chuckles, "Thanks Joshi.." she grins a bit, 'He's beautiful eh?" Salek wiggles impatiently, and one of the strips of meat he's holding falls to the sand. He picks it up and busies himself dusting it off as best he can. One can hope the firelizards won't be picky. Telgar Weyr> Leya says, "Hey, cool. :)" Langley asks, leaning forward a touch toward the intent Mara, "Do you really *need* that thing?" Telgar Weyr> Kindre says, "Really? Out of - what were you up to? 60? That's really cool Kassi :)" Telgar Weyr> T'lean chuckles...has 1 of each color and a 2nd green....stopped playing befor eI named the 2nd green one... Aerilyn laughs quietly and grins. She carefully strokes a hand over the head of her new flit and chuckles, 'He'll be a handful I'm sure but its all good." Telgar Weyr> Kassima says, "Sixty-eight now. ;) (Though a lot of them have gone wild.) One gold, one bronze, two browns, twenty-three greens, and forty-one blues. ;)" Shadra watches the rest of the eggs, smiling. Kaimi bits her lip to keep from all out laughing at 'poor Tavin', She mutters to Shoshana, "Oh... glad I was here... this." Telgar Weyr> T'lean says, "Good grief...that's ridiculous. :)" Black Laced White Marble Egg twitches now, finally getting the hint that just perhaps, it should get moving. Slowly cracks appear along its surface, moving all the way around like a network. Mara obediently fetches another piece of meat, brushing the bit of shell off the foot as her hands move by. Leading it away from the crowd, she says without looking up toward Langley, "Just because I don't need it doesn't mean I don't want it," Langley shakes her head at Mara and the brown firelizard. "You'll be sorry. Mark my words." No 'lizards perched on her shoulders! For a reason! Telgar Weyr> Leya says, "Wow. Impressive. I only have twenty. ;)" F'lone sits quietly as he watches the eggs. Telgar Weyr> T'lean has 6, soon to be 7 here Telgar Weyr> Kassima was a hatching addict early on. I've been fairly good recently in comparison--but I still love FLs and hatchings. :) Pryth backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Sonya climbs down Pryth slowly. Telgar Weyr> Zaidra has none, in any alt :) U'lyn continues to watch the hatching, beaming jubilantly as a few people he knows impress, but otherwise remaining quite still. Joshi heads towards the waterfall. Zynassa ohs at Salek. "Was that mine that twitched? The black and white one?" Shoshana nods quickly at Kaimi, saying between giggles, "Oh me too." Mara is spotted and waved to, "Hi Mou--Mara." she says cheerfully. Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling snorts then reaches down to pick up a wayward spiderclaw the older lizards got. He chomps down on it, but stares at Tavin before bulging again in that demanding voice He wants the meat, but refused to come there for it. Gotta train them early in their life! Telgar Weyr> Shawnah has Nny. Bronze. ;) Salek nods excitedly. "Yeah! I saw it. It wiggled!" Mara says just loud enough to carry, "Mouse is still fine," as she kneels in the sand. Langley, now, gets ignored. Sonya hops down Pryth, peering with interest towards the crowd. Telgar Weyr> Kassima just can't resist them. Especially the blues, but any at all when it comes down to it. :) Shadra pulls another bowl of meat around so those that are feeding, or waiting for their eggs to hatch, have some fresh meat tohand them. Shadra looks up and waves at the new arrivals. Telgar Weyr> F'lone grins and only has a gold. Langley gets ignored a lot, so she doesn't seem to think it's any big deal presently. Instead, she waves toward Sonya from where she's hanging out on the edges of the crowd. "Come to collect another useless flitter?" Casmira laughs at the continuing antics of the blue...."Oh my," she gasps, whiping tears of laughter off of her face, "*that* one is going to run the poor man's life if he's not careful!" Tavin leans back and sits down, hands held just a handwidth from the Laughing blue hatchling. He seems to be of the same mindset, gotta train them early. "Your food is all right here," he states irritably. "Come on... two handfuls of meat. For you." Though one would think he'd stay still, he leans forward, closing the gap between dripping hands and blue 'lizard. Black Laced White Marble Egg shows more and more lines along the surface, almost mimicing the lines on its own, making it look to the point where the cracks jump out. It does take a bit to even notice that the hatchling within is even there among the cracks and practically out. Black Laced White Marble Egg cracks open, and a Pensive Tanzanite Blue Hatchling tumbles out. Pensive Tanzanite Blue carries a dark, rich enchanting color that you almost want to fall into! Deep, lush blue covers him and it melts into an even more regal purple in the corners and folds of his hide. As deep and profound as his color is, his thoughts are equally deep. That little brain of his notices things and thinks about them, contemplating. He may not tell you much, but when he does be assured he's given it as much thought as any firelizard can. To balance out things, he's not all that big for a blue. Some greens will actually be a touch bigger, but none will be as bright. (Desc by Jalar) Sonya moves near Langley, arching one brow. "Flitter? Oh, naw, I don't need one. I've Duke and Pryth. That's enough for me." she grins. Shoshana nods at Mara, asking, "How've you been?" before nodding at Casmira, smirk sort of back. "Deffinatly." Telgar Weyr> Schmitt has 18 named total FLs between all alts, and two that never got named. Kaimi grins at Cas, A bit wickedly at that, "Oh, it will be intresting to be sure. I may have to find the time to visit the center a bit more Sho. Don't you think?" Langley points toward where Mara is and says, "She just got a brown one. She'll learn." Sage Langley pauses a moment before adding, "Sorry about all that stuff I said. The other night, y'know." And she smiles as winningly as she can at Sonya. Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling definitely wants that meat and when Tavin leans forward, he finally gives in. Perhaps the concession of the man leaning forward is enough to show the battle of wills is over. He instantly makes a beeline to the meat, jumping into Tavin's hand to start gobbling at will - oy! Laughing Lapis-lazuli Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Tavin. Telgar Weyr> Kindre has two blues, a bronze and a brown :) I don't play them so I figure why take more I suppose :) Riclair nods to Mara with a smile. "Hi, Mara." He glances back toward the hatching. "That's one lovely blue, the one that just hatched." Telgar Weyr> Schmitt has a duck too. Of course. Zynassa ohs at the tanzanite blue. "That's darker than even harper blue." Bits of spiderclaw meat are tossed out to the little fellow from her egg. "C'mon fella, here you go." Telgar Weyr> Kindre wanna Duck! Shoshana nods quite solemnly at Kaimi, "Oh yes, I think I may be stopping by a bit more now." Telgar Weyr> Shawnah says, "Ah yes. Duck. Dumpling's getting a carving done of her. ;)" Telgar Weyr> Kassima oohs. Don't tell Dismay, Shawnah; she'll be jealous. ;) Sonya offers Langley a crooked grin. "S'alright, you were proddy. I've seen a few proddy riders at my age." she winks, looking over to where MAra and her brown is. "He's a nice looking fellow." she remarks. Telgar Weyr> T'lean says, "Well, figured I'd do something to sorta shake off the cobwebs..." Shadra watches the Lapis Egg intently.. as if willing it to crack.. or at least jump a bit. Langley beams merrily and says, "I thought you might understand. That's very big of you." She makes a face at the talk of the brown and says, "I guess if you happen to like firelizards, he's about as nice-looking as they come." Grudging, but a compliment never the less. Tavin blinks as the Laughing blue finally eats out of his hands. He starts to chide the 'lizard starts swallowing pieces down, but then blinks again and smiles - fondly? Yes, he's actually pleased that the blue came to him. "Hey, c'mon... there's more," he grumbles, picking up the gorging blue and carrying it towards the edge of the crowd. Pensive Tanzanite Blue Hatchling isn't quite sure about all this. He flips around, moving from his back to his stomach. He gives a small creel to show that he's disturbed but then all the large pink things only seem to make him even more disturbed and he huddles within his egg, creeling even louder - hunger or fear? Which will win? Kaimi snickers agian, "Hmm, yes. This will be quite fun. And there is so much that needs to be done there" Even if she has to invent reasons to be there it seems. Sonya nods with a shrug. "They can be useful, if you can get them trained. I think they're kinda cute." she grins at Langley. Langley says disdainfully, "Both of mine are stupid. Misato drops messages in *between*, I sometimes think, and Glamour just sits around croaking all day. She reminds me of Jai." Tavin carries the Laughin blue, feeding it all the while, back towards Kaimi and Shoshana. "Look, I got.. I mean," he corrects rather quickly, "It wants to stay with me. Huh." He keeps feeding it though, no longer really disgusted with touching the meat. Zynassa edges forward a bit, as Lykke ceases her dischordant humming and chirps rather bossily at the timid blue. Get on with it! she seems to say. "Aw, poor little thing - hush, Lykke - It's all right, I promise you." Spiderclaw bits are held out to the tanzanite blue, "They wouldn't hurt you for the world. Mara says, smiling, "Just fine," to Shoshana. Straightening up, fed hatchling in tow, she smiles. "What about you?" Riclair gives Langley a narrow-eyed look, not having much of a sense of humor where insults directed at Jai are concerned. He only maintains it a moment, though, before turning his eyes back to the hatching. "No need to be scared, little fella." Shawnah still stands there, watching the eggs and hatchlings intently, especially the moss-looking one. When that little blue is spotted, though, her eyes get that cute puppy look again, and she just stares. Squeee. Sonya laughs at Langley, watching when she can see a hatchling wander around. F'lone edges his way a little closer towards Shawnah and smiles. "Hello, Headwoman Shawnah." he says. He catches her squeeing and turns to look at the blue. "Thats a pretty blue one." he says. Kaimi smiles, her eyes the only thing betrying her amusement now, "Oh, I'm sure he does Tav. He's quite the hansome fellow too. Have you a name for him?" Pensive Tanzanite Blue Hatchling creels again, trembling within his shell - he isn't moving now. Hunger will not win. No, it won't. It won't, it....that spiderclaw looks and smells really good. Well, that is enough for him and he begins to crawl out hesitantly. Langley misses, or maybe ignores, Riclair's look as she glances toward Mara. "If you figure out how to train him, let me know?" Kassima watches Zynassa with the little blue, a grin tugging at a corner of her mouth. "He looks like a sweetheart, 'Nassa. And a handsome one." As Kazander stirs in his slumber on her arm, she hastens to assure, "I didn't mean moreso than you, silly." Zynassa murmurs wordless reassurance to the little blue, even as Lykke cocks her head at her pet, as though attempting to understand. "Come on, sweetness. You have to be starving." A bit is tossed in the blue's path, as she grins over her shoulder at Kassi. Tavin is staring at the blue in his arms, and shakes his head at Kaimi's question. "How'm I supposed to know what to name this thing?" he asks, almost softly. He glances up. "Do you know any good names?" Teardrop Moonstone Egg begins to tremble with its surface showing cracks and yet, the vague variegated also starts to tremble, tumbling out of its little wallow to fall down the mound of sand. Shoshana holds back a last giggle at Tavin comes up, "Does he really? Well now you have someone who'll always try your food for you." she smiles at Mara, "I've been alright, pretty busy. It's nice to see you again." "Hey look!" Salek yells, pointing with a bloody-meat-smeared hand to the moonstone egg. "That ones' mine! it's moving!" Pensive Tanzanite Blue Hatchling snags the piece of spiderclaw to him and gobbles it down. That was all he needed and his hunger starts to overtake him. He gives a small creel, closing the distance to Zynassa for more. Pensive Tanzanite Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Zynassa. Casmira sighs..."I remember when mine hatched. They are so hungry when they hatch!" Zynassa lures the little blue into her hand, murmuring to him, face lit in a smile. As Salek lets out his yelp next to her, she grins. "Told you to just be patient, Salek." Riclair grins. "Garrick once said that he'd never seen any creature eat as much for its size as a newly-hatched firelizard." Sonya comments before moving away. "Treats, I think giving them treats work." she steps away and returns with a plate full of whole spiderclaws and a lot of spiderclaw etoufee. "Looks like the blue picked someone. Anymore hatch yet?" It isn't long after the little blue finally finds Zynassa's hand before the Teardrop moonstone egg finally cracks open with one, finally shutter. Shoshana grins at Tavin, "Names? I don't know good names. I named mine Klah for Faranth's sake." she glances at Riclair and Casmira, "They're so amazing when they're first hatched aren't they." And gooey. Dont' forget gooey. Teardrop Moonstone Egg cracks open, and a Acrobatic Aquamarine Blue Hatchling tumbles out. A single drop of crystal blue liquid falls from the sky. As it hits the waters of life it spreads, a shape forming out of the rings. At the tiny headknobs a small ribbon of aquamarine threads it's way down. The band of color broadens as it washes down. eventually engulfing the whole firelizard in it's blue color. Spread across the muzzle, speckling the blue hide, are white freckles. Every movement of this hyper young blue prompts ripples of color to move across the hide. While he is the perfect shade of aquamarine blue, he has two places in which the color deviates. The underneath of his wings is a darker blue. Much like the very depths of the ocean water where the dolphins of pern frolic and play. That tail that lashes out, always in motion is the opposite of the wings. It's the lightest color of blue. Blue enough to rival Pern's skies on a perfectly cloudless day.. His hide seems to gleam with a light all it's own and his eyes whirl quickly with pale blue before the red of hunger spins in and takes over his movements. (Desc by Sonya) Casmira waves down a server, and orders a some meatrolls and a mug of klah, as though the hatching is making *her* hungry too. When the lad comes back with the then, she thanks him and makes sure to give him a tip. "I am, I am," Salek says, bouncing up and down -- he's not really, but hey, no harm. "Lookit! Ooh, wow." T'lean pouts, darn, doesnt' look like his is next Shadra oooh WOWS! Casmira takes a bite of meatroll, and swallows. She laughs..."Yes, and a bit gooey." F'lone blinks as he looks at the new hatchling. "Wow. Now you don't see many with that shade of coloring." he comments to Shawnah. "What are you going t'be naming him?" Kassi wonders of Zynassa in an undertone, while her eyes flick towards this new blue. "Is this the one for Salek, then? His first?" Kaimi bites back a laugh at Sho's comment about trying the food, at takesa few minutes before she tries to say anything, "You could call him Breeze or something like that." Not too far behind the moonstone egg is the strangely variegated egg. More cracks fall upon its surface, showing a tiny claw, then a snout before the little one within breaks through. Riclair grins to Tavin. "What a bout Motley? He's got the sense of humor for it." Vaguely Variegated Egg cracks open, and a Variegated Vassel Blue Hatchling tumbles out. A flash of azure streaks at the corner of carefully keen eyes. And there it is again, only on the other side. Before you know it a little blue firelizard appears from *between* right before your eyes with a playful cheep, likely a startling experience. Especially when he dissapears back to his hidding place just as quickly as he had come. No chance to wring his darling little neck. But though he can make your heart jump into your throat at the most unoptimum times and scare the dragon dung out of you, he is still just a baby. An eternal baby, for small he will remain all his life. But though he is likely the littleest of his clutchmates, this affords him the quickest and sometimes startling speed of them all. Zipping here and there on his perfect, miniature wings. Making it through impossibly small crevices, truly a remarkable blue for all his size is nothing of the sort. (Desc by Fluria) T'lean woohoos, "Musta heard me" Zynassa grins at Salek. "You got a blue too!" She nods to Kassi, shifting back out of the way and coming to stand near the greenrider. "His first, Aye. Where'd P'tod get off to?" She scans the crowd. "He thought it was about time Salek had a pet. And I've no idea. What're you naming yours?" Shawnah's gaze turns away from the eggs for a moment, as she smiles and nods to F'lone. "Isn't it pretty?" she asks, and then tilts her head, "Did you find a winning egg?" Tavin sighs, holding the blue out at arms length. "What's your name?" he asks the 'lizard. The blue chirples, and finishes the last piece of meat from his hands. Looking at Tavin, the blue bugles again and Tavin shushes it. "I'm going to name you TooLoud if you'ren not careful." He gives Riclair a surprised look. "Motley. Hm. Motley?" he asks the blue. F'lone looks around at all the blues hatching. "Wow. Lots of blues." he says with a grin. He grins and nods. "Yea. Had the number 11 marked on it, whatever that means." he says with a chuckle. Salek waves his meat back and forth, trying to lure the blue closer as he'd watched the others do. "Here, lizzy lizzy lizard! C'mere, I got lots of meat and stuff." Casmira chuckles. TooLoud. Hehehe... T'lean holds a little bit of meat out in front of the vassel blue, wiggling it slightly Acrobatic Aquamarine Blue Hatchling tumbles, then rolls before practically cartwheeling from his shell. He woggles, getting to his feet with a small, startled chirp. He finally just falls backwards, landing with his wings to either side of him. If his arrival in this world was strange, the fact that he just fell over should have the crowd wondering /what/ he was thinking! Salek laughs with glee. "Did you see that! He flipped over." Kassima peeks down at her bronze, and runs her fingertip over his tiny neckridges. "Kazander, I'm thinking. It sounds right--and I've a fondness for K-names, admittedly." She has to shrug in response to the query, evidently clueless of P'tod's location. "A blue is a good first 'lizard, I'm thinking. Kay Impressed her Lucki when she was little, and he didn't cause nearly as much trouble as a green surely would've... and there's a blue for T'lean, too." Aerilyn walks up the long winding path to the top of the plateau. T'lean hmmms, okay, and adds a spiderclaw to the tempting too... Shadra blinks at the acrobat, then sighs. "He needs to work on his landing a bit more" Laughing blue hatchling chirples at Tavin, tilting his head as if to mock the baker apprentice. "Stop that," Tavin tells it. "Your name's gonna be TooLoud Motley Blue," he declares. "Motley for short." He looks pleased, and Motley starts to creel for more food. "Right, more food." F'lone walks over to the serving table quickly and grabs a plate of meatrolls. He returns to his spot next to Shawnah. He pops one of the meatrolls in his mouth before offering some to Shawnah. "Hungry?" he asks. Variegated Vassel Blue Hatchling looks just as variegated as his shell did. Now /what/ is variegated you ask yourself. He is! He gives a small creel, then chirps only to warble before snagging the spiderclaw that comes flying his way. Zynassa grins wryly at Kassima, "Then I should've impressed this fellow first? Lykke there's just over half a turn." As she chats, she keeps half an eye on Salek and half on the baby lizard, still scarfing down his first meal at her hands. "Any suggestions for this fellow?" T'lean hmmms, spiderclaws over meat and offers up some more Casmira looks thoughtful...."Names for blues....Topaz?" Variegated Vassel Blue Hatchling doesn't boast too long in what /he/ wants as he moves along, following the spiderclaws before climbing into T'lean's hand to creel loudly! More! More! Variegated Vassel Blue Hatchling stumbles towards T'lean. Shawnah just -looks- at F'lone, making a face. "Ugh.. no thanks.. I had enough spiderclaw dishes tonight to start growing pinchers myself." Nny, though, has finished his bite of meat, and is now eying F'lone meatroll with a hungry eye. Shadra smiles at all the noisey blues. "I wonder what mine will look like." Riclair grins at Tavin, then at the blue raising his voice in T'lean's hands. "Quite a set of lungs he's got," he comments. Kaimi grins, "That's quite a name Tav. But I think it suits." F'lone chuckles at Shawnah. "Ahh. I showed up late and didn't get much." he says. He sees Nny looking at the plate and laughs. He grabs one of the meatrolls and tosses it to the bronze. Mossy Tree Agate Egg trembles now, giving a small delicate spray of sand over the rest of the eggs and shards collecting on the mound. Small cracks appear along its surface, showing that the little one within is desperately trying to get out. F'lone looks at Shawnah. "Did /you/ find an egg?" he asks curiously? F'lone looks over as one of the eggs begins to crack. Kassima crinkles her nose and amends, "A good first fire-lizard for *younglings*--methinks you're old enough t'be handling a green, hey? Names." Zynassa's young blue gets a long, thoughtful look. "Kishi? Merida? Kathal? Izinashan? Felicitations, T'lean!" Sonya watches quietly now, having wandered a little closer but not really close enough to be noticed by a hatchling. She sits on the ground, eating yummy spiderclaw recipes, watching the eggs and hatchlings as much as she can." Nny warbles and flits into the air, snagging the meatroll. Comming back to a landing on Shawnah's shoulder, he wraps his tail around her neck for leverage as he happily nibbles away, getting crumbs all over the girl of course. When F'lone asks his question, Shawnah grins and nods, "It had a number seven on it, which was.." she peers at the eggs, and laughs, pointing to the mossy one now moving. "That one!" Acrobatic Aquamarine Blue Hatchling finally flips himself over and creels. He didn't expect all that and now his head is reeling a bit. He shakes it before flipping his wings, but only goes rolling again to end up at Salek's feet. He flops on his back, looking up at the very big pink thing to creel again in a pitiful way that says 'Help?' Langley stands a little ways off but kind of near Sonya, where it's *safe*! T'lean grins and gets some more 'claws for his little blue Shadra watches intently, making sure she's got enough food for her little one. Salek giggles. "Aww, he's cute! Here. Aren't you hungry?" he asks the blue, holding out a handful of meat. Shoshana grins at Casmira, "Ooh Topaz, that's pretty." Casmira grins..."Oh now there's a little manipulator" she comments, watching the antics of the acrobatic blue. F'lone smiles as he turns from the cracking egg for a moment. "Really? They told you which one was your's?" he asks, turning back so he doesn't miss the new hatchling. Zynassa laughs at Kassima on that last one, "Kzeundheit! I'm not as fond of K names myself." She nods to T'lean, and then grins as Salek lands the little blue before him. Mossy Tree Agate Egg instantly snags the meat, gobbling it down. Oh yes, that helps very much so and he opens his mouth again, creeling while lying there on his back. Casmira looks back at Shoshana, "I thought so. Some topaz stones are the prettiest shade of blue." Acrobatic Aquamarine Blue Hatchling instantly snags the meat, gobbling it down. Oh yes, that helps very much so and he opens his mouth again, creeling while lying there on his back. Shoshana nods her agreement, "They are. A lot of rocks are actually. Pretty I mean." Salek drops another gob of meat into the blue's open mouth. "I got lots more. And 'Nassa had a whole plate full." He reaches down to try and help the little one stand. Sonya glances Langley's direction, calling out softly. "What out! I think one's heading for you!" she teases Kassima agrees, mischievously, "Kzeundheit has a certain charm to it. But there are plenty of possibilities--Dalai, Tamberlaine, Teressid, Rhinall, Zircon... as many possibilites as there are stars. And Topaz," she says, with a glance towards Casmira and Shoshana, "is rather handsome, too." Kaimi chuckles and teases Sho lightly, "What is it with Reachians and rocks?" Shawnah bobs her head, "Alaida did." she says to F'lone, leaning forward to glance around the crowd to her. "You should ask which it is if she's not too busy?" No really, the Mossy Tree Agate egg isn't hungry, but its inhabitant is and the egg rocks more to show cracks along its surface. It's almost like the look of swinging vines, intermeshing within its colours to give it a strange effect, but this is halted when a nose is seen and the hatchling within finally escapes! Mossy Tree Agate Egg cracks open, and a Spritely Sapphire Blue Hatchling tumbles out. After righting himself from his rather harrowing ordeal from breaking away from his egg, this little blue finally rights himself up, only to show the pureness of blue that only could shine out all others. His royal hide has the perfect, uniformness from the tip of her nose, around his knobs to the very end of his tail. When the light catches his hide, it gives a small glitter of an inner light yet also an excitment that life is worth exploring and he boldly goes out to see what the world has to offer him. Langley immediately steps *behind* Sonya, putting the bluerider completely between herself and the hatchlings. "Not funny." Shadra chuckles at Langley's actions. "What? Afraid of a tiny little Hatchling?" Kassima appends, "As those two lasses suggested--'twould nay be taking the credit! There's a fine blue on the sand now." Amazingly enough, Salva has managed to sleep until now. As she does wake up she blinks and looks around, totally disoriented. F'lone whistles as the little blue appears. "Wow. Now thats a pretty blue." he comments to Shawnah. Casmira nods..."Tourquose, too." She smiles at Kassima, "Feel free to use it, if you like." Sonya laughs, covering her mouth with one hand. "This is good, have you tried this recipe yet?" she tilts her head backwards to peer up at Langley. Acrobatic Aquamarine Blue Hatchling gobbles the meat up, happy to be right there, but after a bit, he flips around, clinging to Salek's boot as if to show that no matter what the boy does, he ain't going anywhere now! Zynassa mms at Kassi, as the little blue collapses into the crook of her arm. "Zircon, did you say? That's rather nice. Then again," she winks at the greenrider and Casmira, "I'm rather fond of z-names myself." Acrobatic Aquamarine Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Salek. Sonya calls out towards Zynassa. "I like 'S' names!" a chuckle escapes her. Shadra looks around at the steadily growing pile of egg shards and glances at the egg she won. Shoshana wrinkles her nose at Kai, "Hey, I'm not that bad. Our dragons play with them. And," she inserts an angelic smile, "we're better with eels than rocks." That'd be interesting...rock klah. Langley makes a face at Shadra. "No. I just don't *want* another useless creeler around." She kicks a little sand toward Sonya's back, not enough to spray her thoroughly but enough to come close. "Probably not. What're you eating?" Naomi walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Shawnah blinks at the hatchling which emerges from her egg, and starts giggling, "Oh look, we match!" she says with a beam, then kneels down, waiting for the little thing to get its bearings before holding out her offering. Kaimi just giggles at Sho's answer. Kassima shakes her head quickly. "Oh, nay--nay that Topaz wouldn't suit this lad, too! So many variations in the color of that stone. But he's Kazander already." With a laugh, she returns to Zynassa, "Nay that you're biased or aught!" Snowy Peaks Egg finally begins to rock back and forth, moving faster as if the hatchling within was rocking to get out. Small, tiny sounds of scratching might be heard at the little one within tries to claw its way out, but after more cracks appear, it finally succeeds! Snowy Peaks Egg cracks open, and a Piqued Interest Bronze Hatchling tumbles out. Here is a cheerful, spirited bronze firelizard! A tiny, delicate-seeming creature, his wings are full and well tapered, giving him a powerful stroke to pulling the air; his limbs are nicely proportioned and show a nice muscalature underneath his hide. A well built creature, his hide is the color of a guard's burnished breastplate. He's alive and ready to fly on his own, ready to explore the world and ready to make a friend! F'lone smiles as he watches Shawnah coax the little blue towards her. Salva stands and shakes the sand out of her clothes, heading over to the crowd around the eggs and hovering around the edges. Zynassa sticks her tongue out good naturedly at Sonya and chuckles. "Zircon he is, I do believe. Yina'll get a kick out of it. -- What're you going to name your little fellow, Salek?" Sonya gives a slight shrug, not commenting about the sand. "Don't know what it's called. But it's like a stew with spiderclaw legs and plenty of peppers." she looks back now to see the bronze tumble out. "Now there's a trainable firelizard." she points out to Langley with a spoon. "Wonder if he'd eat stew." she muses. Casmira sighs..."Another bronze. And a strong one." Langley shakes her head emphatically and says, "I don't like peppers except in very small quantities." She follows the gesture, glancing at the bronze and then shrugging. "Go find out if you're all that curious." Piqued Interest Bronze Hatchling instantly bugles loudly to announce his presense but them halts in the middle of a second. He peers at these strange looking pink things and suddenly looks very interested. Riclair smiles. "He's an adventurous-looking fellow. I'm sorry I didn't find /his/ egg." Shadra looks around. "Who is the lucky one that will be impressing That one?" Sonya spoons more stew into her mouth, watching thoughtfully. "Oh I don't know, I should give someone else a chance to Impresse him. I heard there was some kind of hunt or something for the eggs. I didn't find any." she breaks open a spiderclaw, munching. Casmira nods at Riclair's comment..."He looks to be intelligent, too." Kassima watches the latest hatchling with interest, indeed. "A bonny fellow, i'truth--and I like it, Zynassa." Quite as if she hadn't been the one to suggest it. "Looks as though that wee blue's from Shawnah's egg. Fitting; he matches her hair and everything." Spritely Sapphire Blue Hatchling instantly shakes off the last of his shell - yuck! and begins to make his way down the mound. He stops, pausing to peer at a dead fish, then warbles it at before putting his nose at it. The moment he notices it's food, he savagely tears into it, creeling loudly as if he couldn't get enough. Salva inches over to Riclair. "How much did I sleep through?" she asks, yawning. "I should've taken a nap when U'lyn did." Langley asks, "Did you look for any?" She points toward Riclair and remarks, "I know some people went looking but didn't find any eggs." Shoshana watches the hatchlings, "They're cute, but they are a big handful." she remarks to those she's standing with. Celestial Evening Lapis Egg now only just begins to tremble, almost as if it had been waiting and waiting for the right moment and now that moment has come. Slowly cracks appear alongs its surface to show that it too will join the rest of its clutchmates -finally! Riclair grins. "Evening, sleepyhead. You're just in time for the tail end of the hatching. There've been plenty of blues in this clutch." Kaimi nods, "I'm more than happy just to have my one really." Shadra blinkblinks. "There... There's.. and it's..... " she quickly grabs some of the meat nearby, not knowing what else to do she has both meat and fish.. one in each hand. Shawnah laughs, inching a teenty bit more forward. "Easy there little one." she murmers out to the savage little blue, stretching her arm with offering out as much as she can. Nny glances up from where he'd been licking up the crumbs from Shawnah's shoudler, and tilts his head, letting out a curious 'crooon?' Salva rubs her eyes. "Mine hasn't hatched, has it?" She stands on tiptoes to peer at the clutch, searching for her egg. "Ok, there it is." Sonya shakes her head. "No, I went out on errands and got caught at Ista hold all sharding day." she tells Langley. "Did you look for any?" Riclair glances at Salva. "Which one? There are two there, a blue and a bronze. A really nice-looking pair, too." F'lone watches Shawnah a moment longer before stepping over to Alaida. He mutters to Alaida, "Can... ask... is mine?" Langley shakes her head, once more with emphasis. "I didn't even look for them. There were people running all over the Weyr, though. What were you doing at the Hold, anyway?" Salva shakes her head. "My /egg/ is still there." she clarifies. "But yes, they are good-looking ones." Shoshana nods agreement to Kaimi, "I know. Ones plenty, twos my limit." She glances at Salva, "Which is your egg?" Kindre steps away from the outskirts of the circle of those around the eggs. "I think I'm going to head back," she tells her friends before making her way back to where Herath is dozing lightly. "Telgar's duties and clear skies," she thinks to add as she walks off. Kindre gives Herath a soft, loving pat on the side. Humbling her oft high-held muzzle, Herath dips close to the ground and Kindre half-steps, half-tugs herself up with courtly ease. An unusally easy and contented glint is in her eyes as her lifemate bestrides her. Herath leaps up in a spray of sand and is borne aloft by the winds. Salva grins at Shoshana. "Alaida said it was that one, the one like a winter sunset." Casmira looks at the remaining eggs..."My that's a big clutch." Duzorth leaps up in a spray of sand and is borne aloft by the winds. Shoshana looks at it and smiles, "Oh that ones pretty." Salek darts off through the crowd to find his father. Salva beams. "I thought so. Did you find one of the eggs?" she asks curiously. Casmira nods..."I think the eggshells are lovely too. I've seen some jewelery made of of that, once. Very pretty." Zynassa tilts her head as one of the fosterlings comes up to her. After a hurried whispered conversation, she murmurs a goodbye to Kassi, and slips into the crowd. Sonya snorts in reply to Langley's question. "Mainly complaints really. Wouldn't let me go, made me have lunch with him and his wife. The Lord holder that is. Then I had to go looking at their sons and daughters and tell them if I thought they had any rider potential." Another snort, her eyes watch the bronze. Dalrianth backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Snickering, Langley asks, "And, in your esteemed opinion, do they?" Ceres climbs down off of Dalrianth's back. Salva glances back as Dalrianth lands and grins. "Heya, Ceres!" Ceres smiles as she spots Salva and she waves, "Hi! High Reaches duties and all that stuff." She is quick to take her jacket off and stow it on Dalrianth in her pack, "Wow.. hotter than I remember already." Black Onyx Star Egg only pauses briefly from his uncerimonous arrival into this world then picks himself up. He wobbles a bit, shaking his head, then gives a small creel before it halts to a chirp. If you didn't know any better, the blue and him almost look like they were cut from the same mold. Kassima glances over to the newest pair to arrive, and raises her 'lizard-free--if smoothie-filled--hand in greeting. "Duties to the 'Reaches and her queens; g'deve!" Piqued Interest Bronze Hatchling only pauses briefly from his uncerimonous arrival into this world then picks himself up. He wobbles a bit, shaking his head, then gives a small creel before it halts to a chirp. If you didn't know any better, the blue and him almost look like they were cut from the same mold. Shadra looks at those two hatchlings that are on the sands, then back at her own... "Oh, right. Ista's duties to 'Reaches." Salva adds belatedly before turning back to watch the lizard hatchlings. Shawnah gives the bronze on her shoulder a side-glance, then looks back out to the hatchlings. "Lovelies, you are, the both of you.. but.." and a beam is sent toward the blue, "I can only take one." Sonya shakes her head. "If you ask me, the whole lot of them wouldn't know the first thing about being a rider." she chuckles. "But I don't Search." Casmira nibbles on her meat rolls, and watches the hatching intently. F'lone grins as he returns to Shawnah's side. He kneels down with a bowl of tidbits for her easy reach. Riclair hmms as he watches the little bronze. "He looks a little confused." Langley grins at Sonya, rocking back on her heels in the sand a little. "You mean he didn't ask to parade the whole bunch of them out in front of Pryth?" T'mren helps Chaia to her feet and towards Cev. THey mount up together, and the bronze takes wing. T'mren grips the straps on Cevodnioth's hide, and climbs onto the dragon's back, perching there with confidence. Ceres stops beside the hatching just for a moment, "Oh my.. baby firelizards.. I need to be somewhere else." She smiles at those she passes on the way to the minecraft tent. Chaia waves g'night, and slips away from everyone. Spritely Sapphire Blue Hatchling pauses in a step, just staring at the large pink things, then gives a small chirrup of curiousity. That doesn't last long though until he starts to creel loudly and with his creel, the bronze just joins right in, creeling loudly in unison. Are these two twins of sometype except for colour?! Chaia grips the straps on Cevodnioth's hide, and climbs onto the dragon's back, perching there with confidence. Shoshana nods absently at Riclair as she settles herself onto the sand, leaning back on her elbows. Cevodnioth leaps up in a spray of sand and is borne aloft by the winds. Ceres enters the Minecraft Tent. The crowd around the eggs and hatchlings have thinned a little, Sonya can see a bit easier now. Sonya tosses one of her 'claws towards the bronze to see if he sees it. "No, he wanted /my/ opinon. Just you know, a casual look over." Cierra crouches near the edge of the sands, surrounded by a throng of other people. A piece of fish is gingerly picked out of a bowl and she waves it in the general direction of those hatchlings. Making clucking sounds with her tongue, she seems to coax the little firelizards. Langley smirks, and it's not at the conversation. "I thought you weren't going to feed 'em, Sonya? You'll just wind up with one in your lap and then where will you be?" She clucks her tongue chidingly. Piqued Interest Bronze Hatchling instantly snags a piece of fish that's tossed his way and creels loudly. He tries to find the person feeding him. He wants more! But oh.. what's that... and he begins to knaw on a piece of seagreen. Blah! F'lone grabs one of the spiderclaw from the bowl and tosses it towards the twin hatchlings and smiles as it lands squarly in front of the blue. Shadra waits and watches the Lapis egg, meat in her hands. Riclair excuses himself from the small group he's with, finding his way down toward the circle that's formed around the hatchlings. That bronze concerns him. "That's no good," he says to the little guy. Shawnah laughs and tsks up to F'lone, "Hey there.. wait your turn!" she teases, but looks back to the blue, waiting to see if he'll quiet long enough to find the meat, and notice the meat she herself is offering. Salva sneaks through the crowd to the spiderclaw bowl and grabs a handful before crouching down. Ah ha! Food! This is what the Spritely blue wanted and he grabs the spiderclaws being tossed into the pit of hungry mouths. He crunches into the crunchly outerlayer before just enhaling it without a care. He's hungry! Sonya tosses a pepper piece. "Lets see if he eats that." she shakes her head. "Naw, I'm too far for him to see where it came from." she replies to Langley. "But I can't stand to see him without food. F'lone grins and winks at Shawnah. "Just helping out." he says. Cierra glances about, watching others' attempts to get the hatchlings' attention. Copying what she sees, she flicks her wrist to send the bit of fish towards the pair. Immediatly, she reaches for another to replace the first, getting into this whole series of actions. Continuing to make crooning-type sounds she incourages the twins. Langley says with a laugh, "You're awfully soft-hearted for a Weyrlingmaster-turned-Wingleader, y'know." *She* certain isn't going to feed the lizards. F'lone laughs as the blue litterly inhales the spiderclaw. "He likes it. Hey Shawnah. He likes it." he says with a chuckle. Spritely Sapphire Blue Hatchling does indeed notice that piece of meat and drops the last of what he was eating to make his way to it. He snags it without a single thought and stuffs it into his hungry maw then creels loudly for more. Casmira looks after Riclair...."I thought they were all spoken for already?" Piqued Interest Bronze Hatchling instantly drops his seagreen for favour of that waving piece of fish. That has a far better appeal to it and moves toward it like a moth (er vtol?!) to a flame. Riclair nods to Casmira. "They are. I just want to see this one more closely." He stays carefully away from the ones holding meat. Spritely Sapphire Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Shawnah. Kaimi shrugs and comments softly to Casmira, "Mayhap. But I guess it's really up to Alaida to say if he should stand back or not." Alaida glances up finally, frowning. "Please don't feed them. You can inadvertantly impress them and all these hatchlings are spoken for. F'lone smiles at Shawnah as the blue stumbles towards her. "Congrats, Shawnah." he says with a grin. He offers her the bow so she can feed the blue. Taria appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Ceres leaves the Minecraft Tent. Langley nudges her foot a little toward Sonya. "See? Don't feed them." Piqued Interest Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Cierra. Sonya doesn't toss any more, plenty of others seem to be offering food. "Hey, I'm a nice person." she protests, standing to refill her plate with the stew and the spiderclaws. She catches Alaida's words and shrugs absently. "Not trying to Impress, Alaida. Just watching." she returns to her spot, sitting on Langley's foot. Jya appears along the path from the waterfall to the northeast. Shawnah erfs as the little blue starts crying, and gently reaches down to gather the little thing up. "That he did." she says, beaming up to F'lone, "You don't happen to have any more on you, would - ah, thanks!" and instantly the blue goes quiet as he takes to eating. Nny meanwhile hops down Shawnah's arm, head tilted curiously at the baby blue. Casmira looks at Riclair...."That's ok, there will be other chances. You can always visit High reaches Weyr when Sheba has hers." Shadra looks over the Lapis egg, beginning to wonder if it did or diddn't twitch... She pauses to add the little wooden spoon with it's resident's knot.. onto her shirt before picking up the meat again. Taria is hurried along the path with a chittering nagging gold egging her along. "Oh alright, alright, how was I supposed to know." she notes and sighs, moving in closer to the crowd of people. Langley pulls her foot put from under Sonya with exaggerated effort. "I'm telling you, lay off the pastries for breakfast." She grins at her wingleader, then nods off toward the tents. "I was haggling earlier. I better get back to it or else they'll think I lost interest." Cierra widens her eyes as the little brown makes its way towards her, creeling. She collects it into her arms, using one arm to deftly snatch another peice of fish for it. Shoshana nods at Casmiras words, though she's sort of in a tired half-awake daze, "Right, there'll be other times. Or when Timere goes up someday." Riclair smiles as the bronze finds his new home, stepping back a bit now that the object of his attention is being cared for. He nods to Casmira with a smile. "I'll remember that if I can get away. Thanks, Casmira." F'lone smiles at Shawnah as she takes the bowl. He walks over to grab another bowl for himself. He returns and looks down at the eggs. Salva watches the hatchlings and eggs intently, smiling as the little lizards find homes. Sonya says. "Ha, ask D'shir. I only have klah in the morning." she retorts. "Good luck haggling then, I'll see you later." It almost seems like the rest just go silent for now, but again, that one that twitched before, starts to twitch again. As part of the evening itself, the Celestial Evening Lapis trembles with stratons of lines appearing on its surface like tiny, line holes in the sky. But that whole effect is gone when a claw is seen punching its way through the cracks and making the egg break off into two pieces. Jya heads into the sandy beach again and sits a little outside of the knot of folks gathered for the 'lizard hatching. She smiles by way of greeting so as not to interrupt and folds her legs beneath her to watch. Celestial Evening Lapis Egg cracks open, and a Classy Cordierite Blue Hatchling tumbles out. Perfection rules a sinuous shape, blemished by naught save two glittering orbs that serve as ever-vigilant eyes. Smooth sapphire slips its silken touch 'cross a surface like a flattened gem, all winking facets pressed into satiny near-onyx midnight. Lazy curves slink into an assimilation of indigo and navy, facilitating the swift conquest of gleaming hide by night-dark shades. Change is a matter of stealth here, as clear lines of color seem nonexistent, merely a constant flow of darkened sheen. Reserve permeates this sapphire statuette, yet an uncanny suavity pours through each sinuate twist. Shadra says "It's going to... It's .. Its.. But.. WhatdoI do? WhatdoIdo?" Taria giggles. "Calm down is a good start, and feed it... him." Salva laughs. "Stuff it, Shadra! Keep feeding it." Ceres heads back over to Dalrianth so she is watching from a distance. Kassima grins over at Shawnah and her small one. "Blue seems a fitting color," she teases the Headwoman. "Nay? But now 'twill need a name for him. And there's another beautiful blue lad, Faranth!" Overhearing Shadra, she turns her head to instruct calmly, "Take deep breaths, catch its attention with the food, and stuff its belly full as soon as it lets you." Casmira oooossss at the new blue. "Look at that! What a beauty." Riclair grins. "Get some meat and wave it a little. He'll come. Fair warning, he's running on an empty stomach!" Sonya breaks open a spiderclaw, tossing it right at the blue when she thinks Alaida isn't looking. Black Onyx Star Egg also begins wiggling, its pitch black surface being mared by cracks to give indication there is a deeper black within, only wishing to be shed light upon. It isn't long before a tiny snout is seen then a muffled creel as the hatchling within attempts to get out. Cierra strokes her new bronzes eyeridges lightly, supplying him constantly with food till the complaints stop and his hunger is more satiated. On Taria's shoulder, Penny is humming up a storm. Still at least the gold isn't nagging right now. Shadra looks at it, and her hands start moving enough that she drops the whole mess in a pile. Reaching for the food again,s he picks up a combo plate of fish and meat "Ummm Ummm... Here" Shawnah ever-so maturely sticks her tongue out at Kassima, then chuckles and nods, looking down at the blue. "You're right.." she says, looking thoughtful. Amara walks down the high plateau, and arrives down on the beach after long minutes of hiking. Classy Cordierite Blue Hatchling finally shakes out of his shell and gives a flick of his tail to send a shard flying - icky thing! He unfurls his wings, showing off the beauty of his blue hide, dying in the warm breeze coming in from the sea. He gives a small creel with eyes whirling a slow red of hunger. F'lone looks up as Nimatu appears above him. He smiles and tosses up a spiderclaw to the gold. She snags the spiderclaw in midair and lands on F'lone's shoulder. F'lone winces as Nimatu lands on his shoulder with a scream and digs her claws in. Kassima nibbles on the edge of a leftover spiderclaw, pulling a sliver of meat from the shell with her teeth. "You could always," she suggests to Shawnah, deadpan, "name him 'Hair.'" Black Onyx Star Egg twitches more with that creeling coming louder as if the poor hatchling within was desperately trying to break open those cracks, but at the last moment, when the egg trembles, only to seem to disintegrate around it. Black Onyx Star Egg cracks open, and a Gentle Jade Green Hatchling tumbles out. This little one is a happy, calm little green firelizard! She's a delicate and tiny creature; her wings are full and strong to give her complete command of the air. Her head is delicately shaped and her limber tail is limber will be good for curling tightly about the arm of her pet. Her dainty limbs end in delicate paws which she uses with caution an care. This slim girl's hide carries all the intricacies of jade. A medium green base in infused with veins of both lighter and darker green. The lighter green is almost white, but still holds a tinge of the verdant hue. The other is the color of deep, dense foliage so dark it is almost black. This one will be a keeper as she'll loving croon and caress who ever becomes bonded to her. (Desc by Jalar) Shadra looks at the Blue hatchling and ducks the flying egg parts and holds out her hands.. strands of meat and fish dangle below her hands. "Aren't you a beautiful one. Food? Yes?" she looks hopeful that' she's doing the right thing, even tho her hands are shaking with excitement. Salva awws at the little green. "She's adorable!" Casmira smiles..."What a pretty green." Taria winces as Penny digs her talons in a little deeper as another gold arrives. "Oh Faranth, how do I walk into these things." she mutters, grabbing some spiderclaws - anything to edge away from a potential threat. "Lovely." she speaks breathlessly, and attempts to move closer, hoping to catch Alaida's attention. Shoshana oohs softly, "She's so pretty!" Nimatu croons softly, from F'lone's shoulder, as she regards the eggs in the sand. Riclair smiles. "A beauty of a green... Someone's lucky." Alaida glances over at Taria, then motions her closer. "She is yours, remember, Taria? " Cierra manages to satisfy her little hatchling enough so that she can glance back over to the rest of the hatching. Watching the green emerge she smiles, just enjoying everyone elses excitment for now. As Nny climbs back up Shawnah's arm, loosing interest in the new blue to offer a soft croon over to Nimatu, Shawnah just.. blinks. Blink. "Kassima.. you're weird!" she says at last, bursting into laughter. /She's/ weird? "But.. hmm.. now I'm thinking about it.." Taria nodnods. "Well, at least it's not a gold." she notes with a grin, and cracks open the 'claws ready for the new hatchling. "Come on then little one. There's certain perks to being a Smithcrafter now, travel, variety, and some of the spunkiest males ever to have hatched on Pern." she adds with a wink. Grinning at Shawnah, Kassi cheerfully agrees, "Guilty as charged! It works, though, doesn't it? Introduce him t'everyone as your Hair. You'd get the best looks." She takes in the new green with approving eyes. "A fine young lady, that one... but don't," she adds, sliding her eyes towards her blues, "get any ideas. 'Tis well that Kazander's asleep." Gentle Jade Green Hatchling gives a dainty, small creel - no, she won't raise her voice, but she will tell that she is displeased that she is hungry. This is not a good place to be. She wants to be coddled and cared for. She wants food in her empty belly. She wants to be calm. Strangely, she gives a small croon when she notices the spiderclaw - it isn't so much as seeing, but as smelling and seeing to hear the cracking of food. She stumbles forward, holding her wings aloft to make her tenative way toward the one source that will help her. Alaida shakes her head. "It isn't guarenteed that a gold would be in the clutch. There seems to be a lot of blues though. That is shocking. " Amara carefully skirts the hatching in process, moving towards the winecraft pavillion to check on some of her apprentices. Salva giggles softly. "Such a daintly little girl! Both of mine were completely obnoxious until they were fed." Taria smiles. "That's it little one, good food. And there's plenty of them." one long fleshy 'claw leg is extracted from the shell deftly and dangled tantilisingly over the green's maw. Taria nodnods, and smiles at Salva. "She is a darling isn't she. Looks like I'm twice lucky today." Ok, that did it! As soon as the long flesh is extracted, the little green seems to forget herself and creels sweetly - she can even be cute when she's hungry. Oh yes, she's cute! Shadra watches the Classy blue guy... holding out food to him. F'lone smiles at the little green. "She's adorable." he says with a smile, though he doesn't feed her. Classy Cordierite Blue Hatchling just seems to be taking his time to make sure all that icky, gooey shell is off his hide. It will dry properly! But once that offering is seen, he makes a beeline for it,snagging it in complete forgetfulness in maintaining and even keel. Taria dips the fresh meat closer. "Nothing but the best." she adds in a soft croon, as her other hand neatly cracks open another part of the shell. "You must be terribly hungry sweetling, come on now." Penny is humming her own encouragements to the little green. Salva grins at Taria. "Very lucky." Then she watches the blue, giggling at his run for the food. Shadra blinks at the speed of one so small and then watches at it tries run and eat at the same time, she lowers her hands so the food is at mouth level and her hands can steady the Classy guy. Shawnah just shakes her head, "Well then.. Hair it is!" Amara returns from the entrance to the pavillon, a plate with leftover 'claw legs that must have been forgotten, which she brings over towards Alaida. "In case any of your guests are a bit short of snacks for the little ones," she explains. Sonya watches from where she thinks is a safe enough distance. She sprawls out on her belly, what's left of her food on the plate beside her. Casmira sips her klah, and watches the hatching. Jya is inadvertently grinning at the fumbling hatchlings (and humans!) as she watches the proceedings with much amusement. She tugs her skirt down to her ankles as she folds her knees to her chest and leans back on her arms, fingers unconciously weaving back and forth through the black sand beneath her. Classy Cordierite Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Shadra. Shadra catches the blue hatchling as it stumbles into her lap. She quickly looks around and sees that what she needs to know and starts feeding it more. Gentle Jade Green Hatchling only takes a moment longer before she reaches up with her opened maw to delicately take the juicy meat. She almost gobbles it down without chewing before giving a sweet creel again for more. Vaerdanth backwings to a landing in a spray of sand. Sonya smiles happily as Shadra impresses. "Congrads." Taria grins a congratulations at Shadra, and focusses her attention back on the little lady. "That's it, come on now love, take another bite." she flakes the second piece a little smaller instinctively. F'lone smiles in congratulations to Shadra. Gentle Jade Green Hatchling stumbles towards Taria. Kassima mentions to Shadra, quirking a smile, "He'll likely fall asleep once his stomach's full... and be screeching for food again when he wakes. Felicitations." Seated atop Vaerdanth, Arafel nods mutely, looking carefully over the green's shoulder to the beach below. "Thank you, Vaerdanth and V'lin. I've been here a while my self. Didn't we meet here once?" Shadra has a dreamy look on her face as she tanks up the little blue. Shadra smiles at everyone. "I've never felt anything like this. I.. it's wonderful... he's.. gorgeous.. Taria gathers the green up gently, still feeding dainty sized mouthfuls. "Well now I think I'm going to have to call you Khanda, do you like that sweetling." she asks rhetorically, edging back from the basket slowly. Chilling Sunset Egg begins to twitch and shake with lines already forming on its surface. It isn't long until the little one within rips the shell apart in its hurry to escape its confined space. Chilling Sunset Egg cracks open, and a Chilling Demeanor Blue Hatchling tumbles out. Like a stained glass window, this hatchling erupts from his shells. Vibrant shades of blue form his hide, interrupted by deep swirls of greens. A slash of emerald is upon this brave little guy's forehead, shimmering as he hops down from his rocky nest and lands on the sand with a thud. He looks about hungrily, creels for attention, and goes eye-to-eye with any humanthing, pink thing, he can find. Food, please! Amara goes into the Winecraft pavillion. Seated atop Vaerdanth, V'lin dismounts, looking up to help Arafel. "Meet here? We might have, but I'm afraid I don't remember." he smiles apologetically. V'lin undoes the straps before dismounting, joining you on the ground. Seated atop Vaerdanth, Arafel unsnaps the riding belt and makes to slide down, with as much dignity as one can muster doing such a thing. Arafel undoes the straps before dismounting, joining you on the ground. Salva oohs. "That's mine! Interesting colors..." She quickly hold out her handful of spiderclaws. "Sure enough, another noisy one. Here, c'mon, it's food!" Shoshana grins, "Hey Salva isn't he yours? He's really beautiful." she remarks from her place on the sand. Sun Dazzled Amber Egg begins to twitch yet again. Boy this one is sure taking its time in coming into the world but now seems to be the time as cracks appear all over its sun dazzled surface, making it looks like it's about to burst with its own version of a solar flair! Kaimi seems to be half dozing off from her seat next to Sho, but she looks up and smiles, "Oh, he is." Arafel hmmms and gives V'lin another look, head tilted to one side and hands on her hips. "Maybe I'm mistaken. It was a few turns ago." She turns to look over the crowd gathered about the sand mound. "Oops. Looks like a firelizard hatching. Shall we?" F'lone looks at the new egg beginning to crack. He smiles as he watches it. Riclair grins. "Been a lot of noisy ones, blues in particular for some reason." V'lin glances down the beach. "Looks like pleny of people already here." he nods, offering his arm with a crooked grin. "We shall. Though I don't need to impresse one of those things. I have one and that's plenty." Chilling Demeanor Blue Hatchling only takes a moment to shake off its shell, then bugles loudly, going after the offered spiderclaws in Salva's hand. He definitely knows what he wants and he wants it fast. With a wobbling jump, he leaps up into Salva's hand to gobble until his heart is content! Chilling Demeanor Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Salva. Sun Dazzled Amber Egg cracks open, and a Prissy Peridot Green Hatchling tumbles out. This tiny green just tumbles out of her egg, almost looking as if grace and coordination was something she missed in the lesson handbook. Coiling about this little lady is shades of green, varying from a very pale, almost translucent green that seems to make her more delicate than she really is, to a deeper green that almost blends so neatly to make it look black, which makes up her belly. She is really a priss though. Once she rights herself and get moving, she moves with a knowing with pale green wings lifted up to dry to the delicate steps she takes to make she doesn't go tumbling again. It's almost as if her first movements of her life were an act and she's now saying 'I meant to do that.'. Salva leans back, startled as the little blue is so direct. "Hello! All right, I'm feeding you, I'm feeding you!" Kassima cants her head towards the remaining eggs, asking F'lone, "Which one is yours?" The latest green's arrival garners a smile; a smile and a comment of, "She looks a bit like m'Rhiannon, that one." Arafel links her arm with V'lin's and glances over her shoulder to Vaerdanth, chuckling softly. "Yes, I think you got the better choice." she whispers after turning back. She follows V'lin's steps across the black sands towards the clustered group. Telgar Weyr> Shawnah waves to Kich, and ahems and announces that she just named her new blue firelizard... 'Hair'. Thanks, Kassi ;) Telgar Weyr> Kichevio immediately casts it in a musical. ;) F'lone smiles as he looks at the prissy green and turns to Kassima. "That one." he says, pointing to the green. He tosses a spider claw towards the green and holds another in his hand, intising the little green. Shoshana smiles over at Salva saying, "Congratulations." a little tiredly. V'lin grins, giving a quick wink. He pauses near the outskirts of the small group to watch from a far. Telgar Weyr> Kassima says, "Always welcome, Shawnah. ;)" Salva grins at Shoshana. "Thanks! Yikes, he's impatient...should get along well with Jewel." she remarks wryly. Telgar Weyr> T'lean hasn't named his blue from tonight yet Taria heads towards the waterfall. Jya is still running sand through her fingers as she tears her eyes away from the eggs and shards to glance at the new arrivals. She sits up when the view registers in her mind and cries, "Arafel!" Telgar Weyr> Kassima named her bronze Kazander; it went with the enigmatic personality, and since her gold's name is Zabreneva.... ;) F'lone chuckles and turns towards Kassima a moment. "She sure is a prissy little thing, isn't she." he says, turning back to the green. Sonya yawns, scooting the plate out somewhat from her, available for any thing to munch off. She lays one arm out and uses that as a pillow to lay there. Eventually her slow and shallow breathing indicates she is asleep. Prissy Peridot Green Hatchling pauses only briefly out of her shell, looking like she must be prepared to view the world and suddenly it's now apparently why she took forever to get out! When the spiderclaw is tossed at her, she instantly picks it up in a claw to stick it in her mouth, sand and all. She might be wanting to be prepared, but her stomach is hungry NOW. She creels softly to F'lone when she sees that other piece of meat and demands for it. Shadra sighs as her blue gives one final burrp and collapses in a heap over her hand. Salva scoops up the little blue and carries him away from the group while she stuffs him into insensibility. Telgar Weyr> Shawnah hrms.. I know I know that name from somewhere... Ah well... time to head over to Tason's! Anime night. Squee! "Some would say," Kassima quips, "that most greens are. And Lysseth, hearing that, would make the rudest noise you've ever heard." There's a low grumbling from the direction of the green's lounging spot, as though to confirm the fact. Telgar Weyr> Kassima says, "Melanie Rawn's Dragon Star trilogy. :) Have fun!" F'lone laughs at the demanding attitude from the green. He tosses the spiderclaw towards the green, this time a little closer to him. He grabs another one and holds it in his hand, tempting the little green. Salva walks up the long winding path to the top of the plateau. Arafel stands on her tiptoes to peer over a shoulder towards the mound. She hears her name called and turns to peer about for who. "Jya!" she waves, delighted, and smiles her apologies to V'lin, leaving his side. "It's been a while!" she mutters once close to the other young woman. Prissy Peridot Green Hatchling follows the line toward the meat and eats that as well. She finally makes her way up to F'lone, creeling loudly and almost climbing up his pant leg to get to his hand holding the food. Ok, no one said she was smart as the food he is putting IN his hand was on the ground and easier accessable! Jya looks a little downcast for a moment as she stands to greet Arafel before perking up again. "Yes it has...are you still studying at the Hall?" F'lone grins at the green and begins feeding her the spiderclaws. The other eggs look silent for now, but they are sure to hatch soon. Calista croons softly, perhaps in happiness that most of the clutch hatched and found owners. She begins to nose the other shells out to take care of those left. Prissy Peridot Green Hatchling stumbles towards F'lone. Arafel nods, turing to stare at the broken little egg shells and the struggling hatchlings. "Too much so, I think. It's nice to come back here, for a little while." She glances wsearchingly to Jya. "Any you? Did you get that position in the stables you wanted?" F'lone gathers up the little green in his hands and, lifting the bowl also, walks over towards Kassima, feeding the hatchling as he goes. "She's sure a cute thing." he says. Nimatu looks down at the green curiously and begins to croon softly. Or so Calista thought for one egg begins to wobble again - the pale blue lace and cracks appear along its surface to uncerimonously dump the hatchling within. Pale Blue Lace Egg cracks open, and a Firey Smokey Quartz Brown Hatchling tumbles out. Firey Smokey Quartz Brown may be dull in color, but not in personality! Under his dusky hide, burns a heart on fire for life and adventure. He'll be a feisty one, in to everything and wanting to have his way. His hide is mostly a medium brown but subtle and smooth transitions to an almost black color are visible all over him. His fire gives a lean, trim, narrow build. His snout is thin and long and his legs are equally narrow and tapered. He'll cut through the air quickly with this body shape. But, that will just help him find excitement even faster! (Desc by Jalar) Riclair smiles and rises from the one-kneed kneel he'd been in. "Well, I guess the others need to warm up a bit more," he comments, only to be interrupted by another crack. "Spoke too soon," he mutters, glancing back as he makes his way back to Casmira, Shoshana, and Kaimi. Casmira looks at the brown..."Well he looks sturdy." Calista chirples in shock, then croons to the tiny brown in welcome. Arafel jumps a little at the sound of another egg cracking and peers at the mound again. "Nice brown, that." she mentions quietly and nods Jya's attention towards the newcomer on the black sands. Firey Smokey Quartz Brown Hatchling snorts, shaking his head of shard bits. He bugles loudly with his eyes whirling a fast red and looking just quite irritated at being dumped. From Casmira's shoulder, Sheba trumpets at the brown, as though demanding something of him.... Alaida blinks in shock. "Uh.. oh shards. That was the one Radar was going to give to someone who didn't win anything. " She quickly glances at the others. "Who didn't win an egg? " "Young 'lizards tend t'be," is Kassi's opinion, given as she's coaxing Kazander up onto her shoulder. "When they're nay screaming for food. Methinks that's how they always win me over, even though I know what bottomless pits they are." Her words are affectionate, accompanied by a scritch for the little bronze... and another for Zabreneva, who hisses in irritation at that *male* getting more attention than she. "--Ah, a fine-looking brown, too." Jya shakes her head slightly in the negative to Arafel. "I don't know if you got my note, but I had to return to Keroon -" she hesitates for a long moment before continuing. "And -" she stops then with Arafel's gesture and watches the little brown. Riclair nods to Casmira's comment. "Looks like a Hillsfar runnerbeast," just bvefore Alaida's comment sinks in. "Um, I didn't!" Shoshana opens her half-closed eyes all the way, "Is that the last one?" she asks, propping herself up more on her elbows. Casmira blinks..."He's free? Oh....welll, I just can't help myself. Want a meatroll, little man?" She offers a meatroll bit..... Firey Smokey Quartz Brown Hatchling bugles to the trumpeting gold in responce. Firey Smokey Quartz Brown Hatchling well, that meatroll seems to have done it and got his attention for when he draws his attention from the gold to the food, he immediately abandon his challange to seek the food out. He practically stomps toward the meatroll but hesitantly reaches out to take it as if unsure of what the hand will do that is offering. Shoshana gets to her feet, dusting sand off herself. "I'd better get back home." she remarks, heading towards where her rides waving to her. "See you all around." she adds, waving to Kaimi, Cas, Riclair and all the others as she heads off. Arafel shakes her head, slowly. "I think I remember a note from you... shard it all. Too much studying has muddled my memory, I think." she offers in an appologetic tone. "What's happened in Keroon? Are you studying to?" Casmira blinks..."Don't worry about Sheba, fella, she likes you, I think." She croons and wiggles the meatroll bit..... Riclair is breaking open a spiderclaw just in case, but grins in the direction of Casmira and the handsome brown. "Go on, little fellow. It's yours." Firey Smokey Quartz Brown Hatchling has his complete attention on that meatroll. After a moment, he finally takes it and begins to enhale. He gives a small creel, trying to fill that empty pit that's called a stomach. It isn't long until he's hoping into Casmira's hand and crooning for more. From Casmira's shoulder, Sheba warbels from Casmira's shoulder, talking to the brown... Firey Smokey Quartz Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Casmira. Casmira smiles, eyes shinning. "He likes me!" She feeds him the rest of the meatroll, but by bit, and reaches for more. Riclair hands Casmira his de-shelled spiderclaw. "Here. I think he'll like this." Casmira takes the spiderclaw from Riclair with a smile. "Thanks." Handing it to the brown, she watches it disapear into the gaping maw. F'lone grabs ahold of Hroth's straps and pulls himself up onto Hroth's back. Hroth leaps up in a spray of sand and is borne aloft by the winds. Jya's head remains bent, eyes on the brown hatchling and smiling as she recognizes Impression. She turns back to Arafel and chuckles a little. "Well it wasn't exactly the clearest note, I probably scrawled it in three moments before leaving - I was in something of a rush." she shrugs apologetically. "I just needed to be somewhere closer to home - for various reasons." Casmira feeds the little brown untilhis swollen belly shows each piece of meat. Suddenly his head drops down, and he is instantly fast asleep. Kassima gets to her feet as the Hatching appears to end for the moment, replacing the plates she's taken--and acquiring a new one filled with different goodies entirely, which she munches from in contentment as she meanders towards the Minecraft Tent. You step into the Minecraft tent.
