Why Would Anyone Want To Salute a Fire-Lizard?

Kassi's Note: This has to be *the* best-run FL hatching I have ever seen
in my life, in all honesty. Lys did a great job, and the theme was pure
perfection. :) To turn the gush mode off a bit, this took place during
the second day of the Benden Weyr Autumn Area Festival, and takes the
title of 'Best-Attended Event' hands down. Several Bendenites found
something almost uncanny about these fire-lizards--and OOCly, most of us
were cracking up. :) Relevant knot-chat has been included; page-chat
and dragonfoo have been cut out.

The Log:

You head in the direction of the shimmering lake, leaving the South Bowl
area of the Weyr.

Juliath hmmmms sleepily from her spot near the shore.

(Various people arrive.)

Loki pops in carrying a leathern pouch full of table scraps.

Meli traipses in after T'lar, steering him closer to Juliath, where they
can find a comfortable seat and a good spot for viewing.

Lavinia loks excited ly at the eggs

Nicoth settles nest to Juliath, warbling softly to wake her up.

Taira comes in, dragged by a slightly younger cousin by the hand to
represent Far Cry. "Slow down," she whispers...

Adonith sidles beside Juliath, since he was the one who most recently kept
her awake, as it were.

Alvar takes Edria's hand and smiles, "Shall we try for a hatchling, dear/"

Lavinia takes out a small basket of very fresh meat and sets it down at
her side

T'lar finds a good seat next to Juliath and Nicoth with Meli. He takes the
scraps bag from Loki, giving the little bronze a piece of fish as a
reward.

Kassima quirks a grin the moment she sees the basket. "Should've known,
when m'fire-lizards were expressing an interest in this place," she
chuckles, dipping her hand into the water to wash some of the dust from
her nose. "Due to Hatch, are they, Lys?"

Pleiath has little interest in the firelizard hatching. She charges down
to the water and enters the lake with a wonderful splash.

Jaessa runs up out of breath. Seeing the clutch, she grins and gathers a
handful of scraps.

Perched lightly on Meli's shoulder, Alluire chirrups inquiringly at
T'lar's bag.

Edria walks onto the sand, smiling brightly, with Alvar.

Nataly sighs and slowly

T'lar laughs and hands Alluire a bit of herd beast.

Taira tiptoes closer, peering at the basket with her cousin, the flowered
colors sparkling in the sun. She draws a soft breath and squeezes the
younger one's hand.

Nataly slowly removes a small pouch of fresh ovine

Krysta grins to Tagore and says "Oh I's has ta try ta do this. I's jist
canna help meself."

Chrissa smiles at brialla when she comes, "over her Brialla!"

A small brown lizard appears from between, folds his wings, and lands with
a thump on Emlyn's head. He lifts his muzzle and croons to the other
'lizards in the area. Emlyn, on the other hand, tries to get him to move
to her shoulder.

Nataly looks about nervously

Rilsa crosses her arms and looks at the crowd. She shakes her head and
grins at Emlyn, "Hatching, eh?"

"Hera said there were eggs," Kindre remarks while striding over to the
gold. "I think I'll watch from here," is said when Herath bends a foreleg
for her rider to climb atop. "The view is better, as well as safer," she
winks over at Alyssa.

Tagore smiles at Krysta and nods.

Nicoth lowers his huge, bronze head to look at the pile of eggs. His
whuffle of interest kicks up a small cloud of sand.

Nataly grins nervously

Lavinia smiles atthe dragon

Edria nods to Alvar,"Let's do.. dearest." She gives his hand a loving
squeeze.

Brialla waves to chrissa and goes to sit beside her.

Alyssa is kneeling beside her basket, rubbing Isolde gently as she croons
with increasing excitement. "I see, I see, love..."

Kylen looks around at all the people and 'lizards.

Emlyn nods over at Rilsa with distraction. "Looks like it. Will you try
your hand? I've got mine full, as you can see."

Lavinia grins "Congratulations fair queen oin your brood!"

Basil hops close to the clutch, eyeing the eggs in a somewhat proprietary
manner.

Loki walks over to regard the eggs and the queen with interest.

Anacely quietly saunters into the lake's placid expanse; Orbs fastening
their inquisitive azure gaze upon all, she quietly reflects: What is this?
What is going on? But then, her glance shifts elsewhere: "Mercy? Is that
you?"

Frosty Heather Egg shifts slightly in its place in the basket, bumping
against its neighbour.

Zera heads over from the South Bowl.

Bronia heads over from the South Bowl.

Alvar nods eagerly to his weyrmate, and snatches a bowl of meat for
himself and his wife.

Taira tries to peek a bit closer, the newness of it sparking between the
two youngsters.

K'nan follows Jaessa over to the lake, chuckling softly. As he arrives,
Veyath looks up from where she's stretched out, contentedly sunning, and
warblecroons a soft greeting to her rider. Said rider looks up and smiles,
"G'deve, my heart..Jae, that's Veyath over there.."

Chrissa takes out some meatrolls and ppaces them in frount of her.

Kassima's hand is on the belt-pouch not harboring the auction marks, which
she pulls open as her fire-lizard fair flits in one by one and begins
humming. "Here's to trying for a hole in the head," she remarks wryly,
waving K'nan, Kindre, and others over. "Going to try your luck?"

Rilsa shakes her head quickly, "Oh, no. I've impressed two of them
accidently within the past sevenday."

Lavinia streche out a fresh piece of delicious herdbeast, readyinh herself
gfor the hatching

Krysta takes a piece o'fish out of her apron pocket and kneels on one knee
cooning softly to the hatchling "yYe sweet thing. Ye looks hungry. 'ere's
a nice piece o'fresh fish for ye."

Nataly sighs and composes herself before breathlessly removing a piece of
the ovinbe from its pouch

Jaessa looks up from the clutch and glances in the direction K'nan
indicates. "Oh my. She's lovely.

Taira reaches into her bag, the baking apprentice always having more than
her share of food. She shares some of it out to her cousin.

Kylen snaggs some meat from a passing bowl, feeding some to her flits, but
sacving the rest for the hatchlings.

Frosty Heather Egg shimmies again, then rests silent and almost
contemplative.

Firwen seems content to watch the rocking clutch from behind most other
people, for her height allows her to see the proceedings without getting
too close.

Timid, unsure movements brings Mercy to the edge of the threshold -- she
followed the mob, you see. Thin lips curl into a subtle smile; amber-
flecked orbs rest on the clutch; a hatching! "Anacely! Come look," her
soft tone beckons, fingers slightly raised and jutted towards the clutch.

Tagore fishes around in one of the pouches attached to his belt and takes
out a large delicious looking meatroll.

Lavinia sighs and waits patiently for the hatchling to hatcg out of
his/her shell

Delicate Cherry Blossom Egg bumps back against the heathery egg and comes
to a very resentful stop nearby.

"Not I," Kindre says and chuckles, "Especially with this one," she pats
the foreleg she sits atop, "watching over. Best of luck, though, Kassi!"

Anacely slips from her timid perch, arms tightening their deathening grip
about her waist; Glance barely raised from the numerous grains below, she
aimlessly trips into Mercy's path - almost too shy to face her own cousin.

Frosty Heather Egg splinters into a thousand lavender and green shards
and, from the midst of this explosion, a small bronze hatchling appears.

Presence is this hatchling's middle name. He's got presence. From the
moment he emerges from his shell, hatching fluids casting a sheen to his
dark, coppery hide, this smallish fellow is in charge of the hatching. A
shake of his wings, shimmering with greenish blue flecks, dislodges the
last of the shards, leaving him pristine and ready for action. He holds
his head erect and croons this way and that, friendly and fully in control
of this find-food-and-get-a-pet situation. In fact, he's willing to prod
the other hatchlings -- gently, mind you -- to assist them to Do What's
Right. Whoever Impresses this bronze will have a constant friend...and a
reminder of what to do to get through the day.

Nataly looks eagerly at the rocking egg and smiles escittely

Merla pushes the tub of herdbeast scraps she had brought from the kitchen
out where everyone can reach them. SHe goes to sit on the sand next to
Basil, who is hovering protectively around the clutch and the gold. She
smiles sympathetically, and apologetically to Alyssa.

Merien heads over from the South Bowl.

Pleiath can dimly remember that treats come from the lake and cavorts in
the water, hoping, apparently, through sheer activity to scare a fish or
too into her maw. Good thing she has a rider to make sure she gets food.

Tesith lumbers in from the South Bowl.

Alyssa laughs quietly and makes room for Merla. "He earned it."

Kassima arranges her skirts carefully while she sits as close to the eggs
as she can get, rummaging through that belt-pouch of hers. "Spiderclaw,
speckler, wherry, dead trundlebug--ick, where did I get that?" She sees a
bronze hatch first, and grins. "Is that good luck, as 'tis for dragon
Hatchings?"

Brialla simply watches quietly with awe at the little hatchling.

Benden Weyr> Merla remembers when Kimbrith impressed a firelizard. That
was way far out.

T'lar laughs. "Don't think I can handle more than one bronze. Right,
Loki?"

Taira ohs, lips shaping a delighted circle as she nearly drops the wherry
meat as she sees she sparkling creature emerge... the shards and the other
eggs seem the brighter for the fellow's emergence. "A good sign..."

Lavinia stretches the fresh meat towards the hatchling who is a very
handsome bronze, she croons softly to him

Jaessa ooohs at the bronze, her eys softening as she takes in the little
form. She offers a handful of scraps, gently, and croons low in her
throat. "Hello there, little one.

Merien looks around, pulling off her riding helmet and shaking free her
braid. "Oh no." She glances at Tesith and sighs.

Zera ahs happily at the little bronze. She looks around the crowd and
decides that she hasn't got a chance of getting near to the front.

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling almost immediately strikes an erect
posture, greeting those about him with a creel and something of a wave of
the wing, the tip brushing the top of his triangular head.

Benden Weyr> Kassima hees, Merlath! Lyss has an FL, too. :)

Nataly grins at the handsome bronze fellow and beckons him with the fresh
ovine

Kylen crouches down, near the basket, getting on the flit's own level, and
holds out a strip of meat to it.

Piper heads over from the South Bowl.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa encourages Bendenites to guess who these hatchlings
are. Merla and Kassima...hush. ;)

A mumur of delight slips from Mercy's twitching lips; fingers search,
roving through her own pockets and pouch -- for that one and only special
treat: sliced wherry. A glance towards the others shift her eyes all
around, then towards the newly-hatched. As Mercy stoops, hand extends,
wiggling the tempting slice. "Do you need meat, Anacely?"

Bronia chuckles softly. "As if I /needed/ another firelizard." But she
takes a strip of meat from the nearest bowl, dangling it from her
fingertips. "Here, little one"

Edria plops down into the sand with Alvar, settling the bowl of meat
between them,"Oh look at him! What a handsome bronze!' She smiles, getting
a few hunks of fresh meat.

Lavinia smiles at the hatchling thinking he is a born dramatic and extends
her meat dloser to him

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "who they are? :)"

Ursa heads over from the South Bowl.

Loki stands at firelizard attention. He warbles a greeting, not a
challenge.

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "It's Laerth?"

Gabe heads over from the South Bowl.

Delicate Cherry Blossom Egg rolls free of the shards of the just-hatched
bronze and sits still again. Momentarily.

Jaessa smiles softly, and continues her soft croon. "Hello hun.

Tinya heads over from the South Bowl.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "She said Hush, Merla."

Tagore smiles as as the bronze pushes away the shards from his shattered
shell. He grins to himself, then offers the meatroll to the little one.

Taira laughs, curling her legs under her and leaning in a bit. The smell
of kitchens hangs around the Far Cry cousins as they watch in excitement,
not too brave to put their hands in overly close.

Basil hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmms. When the little bronze hatches, he
chirrups proudly.

Nataly :looks at the hatchlking and sighs extending her ovine towards his
very handsome self, almost like a person presenting an actress or an actro
woyj nan award

Anacely watches; Timid, patient: Lithe arms dangle into Mercy's direction,
a murmued, "Do you have wherry?" pressed from her full, crimson lips. As
though beconing, the girl knees to the floor, arms outstretching their
tender delights towards the bronze, a "Here, have some." quietly filling
her soft tone.

Brialla takes a meatroll out of her pouch. "Here, sweet bronze! would you
like some food?"

Zera grins at Bronia and then with a smile to herself she pulls out her
pouch and rummages in it, looking for something that a hatchling might
like.

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling raises its head and sniffs the air;
with a few bumbling steps he soon gains a fairly proper, even confident
air to his step, and makes straight for the onlooker who's got a mug of
klah. He seems, strangely, to want it.

Emlyn is standing far enough away to allow those who really want a 'lizard
to have room, but close enough to watch the event. She sees Ursa's arrival
and grins at the brownrider. She salutes, of course, and gives Tinya one,
too, while she's at it.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Rofl"

Jecharra heads over from the South Bowl.

Benden Weyr> Kassima tries not to giggle too hysterically, but fails
miserably.

Delicate Cherry Blossom Egg segments itsself along a spinner's web of
cracks; a foot appears, then a snout, and with a mighty thrust the
hatchling emerges.

Oceanic blues compose this handsome blue's coloration, from the deep
aqueous tone of his torso to the seafoam shades of his limbs; his tail,
marbles and mightly, is the swirling underside of a seashell. Handsome he
is and proud too, for his general demeanor is one of discipline and
strength. Though he is just hatched himself, he is cognizant of his
purpose and, in a less than polite chitter, directs the younglings about
him in *the* best way to find a pet, eat the proffered meat, stand on the
ground...anything, really.

LaDell heads over from the South Bowl.

T'lar laughs. "Klah, he likes klah?'

Benden Weyr> Merla snorts ;). "It's T'lar?"

Krysta wiggles the fish with her hand and softly says in a light singing
voice "Ere now wee thing. Come and git a bite. I'll not be hurting ye.
Come now and ease yer hunger."

Jaessa chuckles at the hatchling. "A klah loving bronze? Here sweetie,
you'll like this better.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa just whistles innocently. :)

Gabe hurries to get a meatroll out of his pocket taking much longer then
if he had just tried to do it slowly as soon as he gets it out he offers
it to the hatchlings.

Lavinia laughs at the hatchling and and wows as he likes klah

Tinya flashes a grin at her mentee, and returns the salute as she watches
from the sidelines.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "I drink ale, not klah."

Taira turns her head to follow the little one's progress, eyes glinting
with laughter. "Oh, he knows what he wants quite proper!" The sound of
breaking shells captures her attention, though, and she finds herself torn
between which to pay attention to!

Firwen glances over her shoulder, sees Ursa wander up and smiles at the
wingleader from where she's standing behind the row of people hoping to
attract the young hatchlings.

Benden Weyr> Emlyn says, "The blue is Sionelle. Has to be."

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Ale. Blech. Klah. Blech. :)"

Merla chuckles softly at the little one.

Herath rumbles softly to the deshelled firelizard, though the sound is
filled more with curiousity than malice. Patting her 'seat' Kindre smiles,
"A love indeed, dearheart..."

Benden Weyr> Merla grins at T'lar. Who is it then?

Benden Weyr> T'lar hands Meli some juice.

Nataly sighs and looks happily at the very handsome blue, knoiwing that if
the bronze liked klah, he isn't for her, she looks ecitedly at the young
blue

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "I know because I was told, wouldn't be fair."

Rilsa stands near the back, watching the hatching through the gaps in the
crowd. Nibbling on a sweetroll, she nods a greeting to the arrivals.

Kylen smiles, seeing the flits' commanding postures and torn between the
two, wondering which to watch. "C'mere, eat some meat."

Merien watches quietly, standing near Tesith. She pulls on the green's
muzzle as she leans toward the platters of fresh meat, too gently to have
any impact, but firmly enough to make an impression. "Not for you, lazy."

Edria settles into the sand, one hand resting on Alvar's knee. Her free
hand wiggles a juicy piece of wherry meat at hatchling nose level,"Come
and eat, little sweetings." She croons, smiling warmly.

Pinched between lithe fingers, the wherry slice dangles helplessly,
twisting and turning enticingly, near the bronze. "A bite, perhaps?"
tempts Mercy's hushed alto, lowered and nearly inaudible above the hubbub
of everyone else's voices.

Zera laughs lightly as the little blue breaks free of his shell.

Tagore would go get a mug of klah for the little bronze, but he isn't
giving into the whims of just any little firelizard so easily. He
continues to offer the meatroll.

Kassima peers at the little bronze, and wonders, "What *is* he up to?"
Seeing the young blue, her attention is (of course) caught, and she tugs
a strip of wherry from her belt-pouch. "'Tis nay klah," she quips wryly,
"but 'tis something."

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Ooh, good, time to get my pizza while the game
hits the restroom."

Benden Weyr> Merla agrees with Emlyn on the blue.

Opinionated Opulescent Blue Hatchling greets the large gather of weirdo
and rather rowdy pinkthings with a snort. Yes, a definite snort of
disdain. He stomps closer to Merla and regards her momentarily, flapping
his wings, then speeds over to Emlyn and begins chattering nonstop to the
weyrling.

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling plucks a bit of fallen wherry and
carries it with head held high to a place from which he can watch the
pinks and eat with a mixture of paternal affection and guardedness. If he
could quirk his eyeridge, by gum he would.

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Unless it's Prometh."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Emlyn got it in one. :)"

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Anyone else guessing on the bronze?"

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Um, F'hlan?"

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "I know! I know!"

Bronia chuckles and stands up, dropping the meat back into the bowl.
"Think I'll leave you all to it and go back to the gather for some wine.
I've already got more firelizards than any sane person wants." She dusts
off her breeches, smiles at the Istan riders, waves to Piper and Zera and
walks away from the gathering.

Benden Weyr> Merla umms, "WEll, we're running out of possibilities."

Lavinia smiles at the Competent bronze and looks at him woth an aire of
someone who needs protection.

Krysta once again wiggles the fresh cought fish invitingly. "Ye wee sweet
thing. Come ta Nanny an let me give ye a happy home with lots o'love ta
boot." She stares deeply into the eyes of the closest hatchling. "There be
lots o'food and sweets for ye."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Wait...someone did say Laerth, right? :)"

Bronia heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> Merla said that first.

Benden Weyr> Kenai sighs. Alright, You've caught my attention. I /have/ to
go watch now... ;)

Brialla reaches out gently to see if the bronze will let her give him the
scratching he desires, but reaches carefully, so that he can refuse her if
he wants, and accept if he pleases, so as not to scare the little bronze

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Merla got it. :)"

Piper heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

T'lar gets out some scraps just in case one of the hatchlings comes his
way.

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "wait, wait...who's the blue? :)"

Brialla says "i have a queen who would really love you, little bronze
one."

Benden Weyr> Merla laughs, "I thought I was wrong..the blue is
Sionelle :)."

Emlyn blinks down as the little blue begins chattering at her. She steps
away, encouraging some of the others to actually feed the opinionated
little creature.

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "I said Laerth 'cause of the reliability thing :)

Merien blinks. "Shells, I didn't even see her," she says to Tesith
quietly.

Kenai heads over from the South Bowl.

Benden Weyr> Kindre laughs and should have guessed! ;)

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "I like the klah clue."

Benden Weyr> Kassima grins and loves these FLs, Lys. ;) FL literally,
this time.... ;)

Anacely twines lucscious wheery tid-bits between the lithe angles of her
fingers. An intricate pattern if that, she amuses herself with the
creative pattern, an occasional glance timidly flicked upwards: "Food?" is
her questioning tone to the firelizards, "I have plenty," though no one
hears her 'I think.'

Nataly smiles at the handsome tough bronze with a maiden in distress look
and beckond to hi with her fresh ovine

Kylen smiles, waving the meat in her hand, trying to catch the little
ones' attention. "C'mon. I can feed you all you'll ever want and more. Not
to mention keep you company, or maybe you can keep me company."

Taira shakes her head in amazement at the group, settling down a bit
closer and more relaxed at the humor. She keeps turning between the
creatures, holding onto her wherry meat and letting the scent move over
the shells, hoping to entice some of the rest out

Tagore retracts his offer of the meatroll momentarily to watch the small
bronze. A quizzical look appears on his face as if he wants to say, "What
are you doing" to the little one. He then dangles is meatroll out once
again and waits to see what will happen.

And dance Mercy's slice continues to do: subtle spins shifting it nearer
to the bronze -- then twirls wheeling it away again -- away towards Mercy
and the rest of her meat. "A sample? A bite?" her voice continues to coax
softly.

Iridescent Iris Egg rocks somewhat and tumbles forward, almost falling out
of the basket.

Opinionated Opulescent Blue Hatchling snorts at Emlyn -- he seems to have
this snorting thing down -- and paces himself nearer to T'lar. Someone
more his size. WELL, bronzerider, you got any FOOD for me? Hmmm? That's
what you're supposed to do, you know. Feed us hatchlings!

Jaessa continues her soft crooning, swaying her handful gently. "Over here
hun, you must be hungry.

T'lar chuckles at the little blue's attitude. "Ok, ok. Here you go." He
holds out a choice bit of fresh herdbeast.

Merla decides to take a strip of herdbeast out, just in case. She holds it
up, and Basil immediately snatches it, offering it to his mate.

Jecharra stands on her toes to see over the crowd. She inches her way
around, finally finding a spot where she can see first hand.

Iridescent Iris Egg shakes a little more again, lingering precariously on
the edge of the basket.

Loki grumblerumbles at Basil.

Taira deftly moves a hand to her bag again, pulling free another bit of
meat as she passes off the first to her cousin to give him a better
chance.

Kylen resists th urge to try and catch the egg as it almost topples out
of the basket, restraining herself, but watching carefully.

Meli chuckles. "Y'sure you want t'do that, T'lar? Seems mighty bossy."

Lavinia looks nervousl at the egg that iws baout to fall out of the basket

Kassima laughs and shakes her head. "You're welcome to *that* one, T'lar,"
she says, settling back on the sand. "Looks like he's taken a shine
t'you."

LaDell follows her sister and tries to see over her shoulder.

T'lar says "Well. If he's that hungry..."

Brialla calls softly to the bronze. "I have food for you, little one, and
fresh at that."

Edria grins at the expressions of the hungry hatchlings, dancing the fresh
meat over the sand, careful not to get any yucky sand on the meat itself.
The slowly bouncing tidbits drip a little bit of blood onto the sand,
leaving a trail on the white sand."Come and eat so that you'll grow, li'l
ones."

Opinionated Opulescent Blue Hatchling yanks the food from T'lar's fingers,
having gotten the usefulness out of this silly rider, and strides nearer
to Taira. Well???!!! Feeeeed me.

Zera watches the iris egg, her breath held.

T'lar says "Oh, well. Seems I'm not good enough after all."

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling just sighs at the blue's antics and, as
if he's been doing this for Turns now, croons something of a warning to
the other hatchling.

Jaessa chuckles at the blue, keeping her outstreched hand steady.
"Demanding little thing, isn't he?

Aelyra heads over from the South Bowl.

Taira clucks her tongue and does what comes naturally to a baker when food
is demanded... she preemptorially fills his mouth with wherry. "Oh
behave!"

Nataly sighs and beckons to the hachlings

Iridescent Iris Egg shatters without preamble into dozens of miniscule
shards, setting free its former occupant.

Oceanic overtones swim across this little lady's green torso to evoke the
image of waves washing over leaves plopped into the shallows off Ista's
shores. She is a sweet thing, no doubt about it, and yet...and yet...
something about her demeanor indicates a world-weariness, as if she's been
on Pern for far longer than the moments since her hatching. Never fear,
however; this green is solidly formed and can clearly handle herself in
even the most strenuous of situations. And pay no mind to her occasionally
discordant creels; under that somewhat cranky exterior beats a heart of
gold.

The small brown on Emlyn'shoulder leans forward to try to watch the
hatchlings. He croons encouragement to them.

Taira says "Happy now?"

Meli chuckles again, leaning forward to rub at T'lar's shoulders. "Y'good
enough f'me."

Tagore glances momentarily over at the little stubborn blue, but leaves
the greater part of his attention for the bronze.

Kindre can't help but laugh at the little blue, its antics somehow
familiar and...frightening at once. "I think I may pity whoever is deemed
worthy enough by him to become his pet," she calls jovially.

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "M'kla?"

Merien ooohs at the purple egg. "It's lovely, isn't it? And look at the
little green!"

The wary, skeptical narrowing of Firwen's eyes softens just a little bit
at the sight of these baby hatchlings emerging from their shells. She
inches a bit closer and nudges a hastily collected piece of meat towards
the little green hatchling in an unobtrusive manner.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Bingo. :)"

Rilsa notices the green and mutters to Emlyn, "Reminds ye of Mani, doesn't
she?"

Laviniaextendds her fresh meat towards the competent bronze knowing that
if he wants it he will come.

T'lar slips an arm around Meli's shouders. "That's all that matters."

Benden Weyr> Kenai grins.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Yep. Perfect."

Aelyra steps nearby the lake shore, noting all the people. She blinks as
she sees what's happening... A slow smile touches her lips and she settles
back to watch, not seeing anyone she recognizes to walk up to.

Benden Weyr> Merla grins at Meli :)

Jecharra grabs a meatroll out of her pouch with one hand, and her sister's
hand with the other. She pulls LaDell closer to the action as she holds
out the meatroll to the tiny hatchlings.

Emlyn laughs quietly and nods at Rilsa's murmur. "I wondered why she
looked familiar."

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "These are great!"

Nataly gasps at the green and turns her full attention toward her, she
smiles hopefully

Opinionated Opulescent Blue Hatchling seems pleased enough by Taira's
offering and moves closer still. MAYBE you'll prove good enough. But I
doubt it.

Zera breaths again as the green hatchling manages to hatch without coming
to harm. She has another dig in her pouch, looking for something tasty.

LaDell gasps as she is pulled forward but keeps her eye on the lovely
hatchlings

From bronze, to blue, to green: Anacely watches; Knees folding underneath
to sprawl her tiny form unto the sandy depths below, she fixes her
pondering gaze about. Shoulders lifted, as though to protect her from all,
she continues to toy with the wherry; And upwards twist, a downwards
twirl. Interesting, at least, to Anacely.

Chrissa gasps as the green appears and places some food in frount of the
hatcling and in frount of her murming, "hello pretty lady, would you like
some food? I wount hurt you." she contines doing this to her firelizards
humming and creeling, Jade croons at the green like she is encourging
her.

Kylen catches her breath as the little green hatches. She holds out her
meat to the little one, crooning, "C'mere, come eat. I can take care of
you... c'mere little one..."

Rilsa laughs and keeps watching the firelizards with an amused expression.

T'lar tosses a scrap to the little bronze who seems to be too busy bossy
the others to get himself a pet or any food.

Benden Weyr> Kindre noddles and wows, awesome 'Lys! :)

Merla grabs another piece of the herdbeast, not allowing Basil to take it
this time. S he smiles softly, and watches.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Thanks...I've wanted to do this clutch
forever."

Cantankerously Dulcet Green Hatchling sighs expansively and shakes the
remaining shards from her hind claws. Then shakes again. And...shard it!
SHAKE shake SHAKE shake. There. At last.

Taira shakes her head in amusement, used to crying cousins and the dragons
of her siblings. She reaches over for that itchy place behind the
eyeridge. "You'd be a pest in the kitchens," she says warily even as she
scritches expertly.

Bladrik heads over from the South Bowl.

Edria beams at all the little hatchlings, looking so much like little
dragons,'My we are a colorful bunch, aren't we?" SHe continues to offer
the fresh meat with one hand, searching in the bowl for the choicest
pieces.

Kassima grins at the little green. "Unusual, for one so newly hatched to
look so... so... so *old*," she finally says. "'Tis an interesting effect,
though." A pair of spiderclaws are drawn from her meat-pouch, clicking
against each other as she shakes them in an attempt to catch the green's
attention. Sounds oddly like dice rattling, really....

Alvar spots Bladrik and tugs on Edria's sleeve to make her notice,
grinning, "Rik! Hullo dear! We're over here!"

Opinionated Opulescent Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Taira.

Jaessa patiently offers her handfull of dripping scraps to the hatchlings,
her soft murmers almost lost in the noise of the hatching.

Meli giggles, an unfamiliar sound from here. "I like tha' green one. She's
got spunk."

Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "It's quite honestly priceless, Lys. :)"

"The blue's finally found someone," Alyssa murmurs to Merla at her side.

Krysta gasps as she views the green hatchling, feeling an instand bond she
wiggles her fish and says "Ye are a joy to behold! Come and eat. Ye need
yer strangth ta git big and strong."

Nataly looks at the green and smiles "I'll do anything you want me too
little beauty!"

Kenai gives her little sister an unobtrusive thumbs up from where she
watches, grinning at Taira.

T'lar says "I'm not sure if 'spunk' is the word. Maybe 'spit and
meaness'?"

Bladrik comes zipping through the crowd and makes his way to his parents.
His eyes widen. "Firelizards? Oh neato." he bounces happily as he usually
does when their is any kind of hatching.

Meli grins. "Well, depends on y'point of view, neh?" she replies to T'lar.

Edria sees her son and waves him over to where she and Alvar have a bowl
of fresh meat and are trying to attract a hatchling. The bronze, blue and
green hatchlings, however, have had different ideas.

Alvar grins and rustles his son's hair, "Yup. Try for one!"

Kylee heads over from the South Bowl.

A twitch of lips brings about an approving beam: Mercy smiles, a soft
chuckle accompanying this action. Amber-flecked eyes waver between green,
bronze, and blue, indesicision flickering across the ovoids. But alas,
she's holding one slice -- which to jiggle to? Jiggle. The green. Wiggle.
The bronze -- and the bronze it stays at.

Merla grins at T'lar's comment.

Brialla takes out some fresh, raw meat from the pouch at her side,
crooning to the bronze again. "I have a queen who will love you, and i
will love you. I have food, fresh, and lots of room where I live in the
weyr."

Firwen again nudges the scrap of meat towards the little green with her
toe, very casually.

Aelyra stays behind the others who ooo and ahh over each movement of the
little hatchlings. But she's grinning. Does she have a meatroll in her
pocket? Hmmm... She wonders if she has anything left over from lunch
earlier. Yes... there it is. But she hesitates to bring it out, looking at
all the people. Maybe another time...

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling sighs again...sighing seems as natural
to him as snorting was to that opulescent blue. He croons from his perch
atop the basket and munches on his bit of wherry, advising the green to
hold it down to a dull roar.

LaDell waves to Kylee and looks back to the green fire-lizard

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Dull roar?!?!?! ROFL"

Merla watches the bronze, a wide grin on her face.

Kylee finds a place where she can watch the hatching. She waves briefly to
LaDell, trying not to distract her.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "That was a dead giveaway. :)"

Benden Weyr> Kindre laughs!!! Ah mah gah!

T'lar says "I like that little bronze. So authorative, yet friendly."
Jaessa grins at the bronze and wiggles a scrap in his direction. "C'mon
silly, you can't sit there forever giving advice.

Benden Weyr> Kassima LOLs at Lys! He's such a perfect likeness! Now, if
he could just smirk.... ;)

Benden Weyr> R'val Uhhhhhs. :)

Lavinia hmms and wonders if the bronze is the leader of the bunch, he
certainly is the knowingest, she smiles to the bronze and extends the very
fresh meat to him

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Now that you said it, I'm sure he will."

Jecharra glances up and beams at Kylee, then winks before turning her
attention back to the hatchlings.

Meli nods. "Yeh, he seems t'be in charge, but still sweet."

Edria grins at the bronze as he watches everything from his perch,"Look at
him...such authority already!"

Rilsa rolls her eyes, "That bronze reminds me of Corineth. Lording over
all." She grins at Emlyn.

Taira feels the Blue actually lean into her scritching, somewhat
surprised. She laughs and offers it a spot in the folds of her skirt to
watch his siblings hatch, spoiling him with more wherry. "Let them do it
their way, though... hmmm?"

Kylen watches the little flits, holding out her strip of meat patiently,
waiting. "Come eat. I know you're humgry."

Anacely contiues to wave, twiddle, and twist. A tiring action, though the
girl doesn't mutter even the quietest comment; Legs twisting upon each
other, she sprawls forwards, gaze fixed upon the hatchlings. "Food?" she
quipps, brows arched, lips pursed: And he wherry - it twists, wiggles,
and twines.

Cantankerously Dulcet Green Hatchling lets out an expansive creel and
kicks the bit of shard that had the sharding audacity to retain her
fardling foot for...ah, never mind. She moves along the ranks of the
onlookers as if her bones bother her, sniffing for some wherry.

Kassima wonders to herself, "Why do I have the oddest urge to salute that
bronze?" She shakes her head, trying to dismiss the notion.

Brialla offers her meat to the bronze again, hopefull. "wouldn't you like
me?"

Nataly sighs "dear green, do you like ovine? It's very good? looks
hopefully at her

Keyran heads over from the South Bowl.

T'lar begins to lay out a trail of scraps from the basket to him and Meli
out of habit.

Bladrik shrugs and plops down beside Edria, takeing a handfull of meat.
"Maybe." he watches the hatchlings with excitment none the less.

Merien giggles at the green and bends to whisper to Tesith. "She reminds
me of Sia!"

Benden Weyr> Meli baps Kassi. :b

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Oh, my. That green is soooooo perfect."

Benden Weyr> T'lar hopes someone is logging this.

Speckled Gladiolus Orange Egg bumps into the basket's handle, rather
sharply...a tappitytaptap can be heard from within.

Chrissa looks at the green awing, "would you like a wherry roll?, it is
good for you."

Rilsa finishes her sweetroll and licks her fingers, "Can ye imagine
having two of them in your life? One huge dragon and a little bronze?" She
shakes her head with a grin.

Benden Weyr> Kassima is, needless to say. :)

Emlyn grins at Rilsa and shrugs. It's probably better -not- to agree with
somebody who tells you their dragon lords it over others.

Aelyra decides to take out her meat roll. Just to hold it in her hand,
really... So many people here... She chews on her lower lip and tries to
stay out of other people's way but still allow a hungry hatchling to see
her offering. She looks rather uncomfortable amongst all these stranges,
but can't resist making an attempt.

LaDell shyly brings out the remains of her luch from her pocket and
'nudges Jecharra

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling seems content to chew on the bit of
wherry he originally secured for himself and regard the others with a
pleasant enough expression. The green's behaviour, however, just raises
what...hey wait! Can firelizards smirk?

Nataly looks very overwhelmed by all that is happening but keeps her cool
Wherry? Mercy has wherry. Scrumptious wherry -- "To satisfy even the
pickiest eaters," is her assurance. "So try some?" is her next suggestion,
her placid drawl directed to the finiky green. The wherry continues its
enticing dance, held between clasping fingers: it dangles.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "This is so much fun."

Benden Weyr> Meli giggles. "This all goes so well with my pizza."

Benden Weyr> Kenai ROTFL!

Jecharra glances over at LaDell. "Hmm?"

Kylen holds out the meat, wiggling it to try and catch a flit's attention.

Taira waves Kenai over, grinning. "Come... the eggs are the most beautiful
things..." She pauses, looking down at the blue chewing in her lap. "Well
of course yours was the loveliest I mean." He gives an almost appeased
sniff but seems intent on his chewing.

Benden Weyr> F'nar hmms. Pizza.

LaDell unwraps the fish roll,"Do you that they might like some fish?"

Firwen just makes sure the meat she's pushed forward is available to the
green and steps back to watch what happens.

Zera tugs at something in her pouch, and suddenly most of its content
spill out into her lap. Tsking she starts collecting the bits and pieces
up: twine, dried up pieces of wherry, a tub of numbweed to name a few. She
smiles as she finds the small piece of cloth that she wanted, and
unwrapping it she finds the few pieces of chicken that she keeps for
special treats for her two firelizards.

Cantankerously Dulcet Green Hatchling wanders this way and that, closer
to Mercy. Could it be the scent of stables attracted her? Sure. Nothing
like good hard work...

Lavinia smiles and chuckles at the officious little bronze as she glances
hopefully at him

Jaessa chuckles and nudges a piece of fresh meat towards the bronze.

Speckled Gladiolus Orange Egg splits along its perimeter, dividing in two
near-equal halves, and from within the lower half emerges a pale
hatchling.

Like the northern-most waters rimed in winter frost, this small hatchling
is just blue enough to be termed blue. Sky blues spread from his head
downward, growing paler and paler until his tail is a snowy reflection of
the chilled, cloudless winter sky. He is a handsome enough fellow, though
an odd spiralling pattern wraps itself around his tail, and his snout
appears a trifle misshapen. His bearing is upright and unruffled, despite
his new surroundings; he is in control of the situation, fear not.

Kylee tries watching everyone and everywhere at once.

Krysta trys again showing off the fish to it's best view "Here me wee one.
Tis a treat to be eaten."

T'lar tosses more wherry to the leader bronze. "Can't have you going
hungry now, can we.

Brialla sighs at the bronze. "You don't want me? it's all right, i guess."
and sits quietly down, with the piece of fresh, raw wherry in front of
her... just in case the bronze changes his mind.

Benden Weyr> Kindre is giggling so hard IRL!!

Anacely dabs her fingers outwards; Wherry, her wherry, their wherry: The
bronze chews, Anacely gnaws. Almost the same things, the girl sliding
lithe fingers into her pockets. Wherry, where is it? Oh, there's more.
"Here, more!" is her booming comment, almost peculiar for her.

Kenai kneels down next to Taira and grins. "He's a lovely little blue- the
first firelizard I ever impressed was blue, too," she comments with a
grin.

Tagore watches the little bronze patiently. He again retracts the meat he
was offering and waits for the little guy to make up his mind. He stands
there tapping his foot.... watching... waiting.

Jecharra giggles as the smells of home waft up to her nose. "Perfect! Just
like home."

Kassima laughs as she watches green and bronze both, her back to the Bowl
as she attempts to acquire that which she needs just as much as a hole in
the head. She peers at the bronze oddly. "What in the...? If I didn't know
better... nay, that's ridiculous." Espying the green's path towards
another, she decides to concentrate in this newest blue. "Faranth,
there're some fine blues in this clutch. Heyla t'you too, lad."

Edria continues to wiggle the choice piece at Hatchling nose level,
grinning at her son,"So, did you get enough bubbly-pies?" SHe searches
his tunic with her eyes for stains...

Keyran limps down the beach with a waddling step, trying to keep the sand
from dirtying shiny, black boots. He uses his greater size to push his way
through the fringes of the crowd with a stubborn obstinance that only a
family member would view fondly, though his grin quickly soothes any
arguments.

Aelyra continues to hold out her meat roll... Actually, the thing looks a
bit worse for wear having been in her pocket most of the day. She frowns
at it...

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling lets out the heaviest of sighs and
gives off the appearance of rolling his eyes. A quick pounce lands him
near both another bit of wherry and Isolde, whom he greets with a
confident croon. No matter it's Mom he's addressing.

Nataly sighs as the sky blue hatchling hatchwes "Hey I'm a starry, and
starries look at the sky and your sky blue, maybe ther is still hope!"

T'lar looks over at Aelyra. "Here, have some scraps."

LaDell catches her breath again at the beauty of the hatchling," My isn't
her a lovely color?"

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Brandalth?"

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Meroth?"

Bladrik looks up at his mom and nods, showing the one in his hand that
doesn't hold an offering to the hatchlings. "Ayup, and so did Jason." he
wiggles his wherry.

Benden Weyr> Meli votes for Brandalth.

Kylen dangles the meat in front of her, ignoring everything but the
little flits hatching.

"A taste perhaps?" Soothes Mercy's tone, whispered softly towards the
wandering green. "This wherry's good -- I promise." Would she dare offer
less? It continues its subtle shifts, its subtle dangles, its sutble
turns -- towards the green.

Composed Wintry Blue Hatchling greets everyone with a polite, somewhat
distant bugling creel and begins looking around for food.

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Wait, I change my vote :b"

Aelyra watches the bronze, mildly facinated. That self-assurance... so
much the opposite of her own unease. How could a firelizard be so sharding
confident? If she felt small before she got here, she's feeling awfully
smaller now.

Taira grins and silently nods to her bag as she looks at Kenai. After all,
she doesn't dare reach in and offer an affront to her new lizard by taking
out food for another. "Go ahead and try...I've plenty. I came to cook."

Nataly extends the fresh ovine to the composed serious little blue

Jaessa nudges the piece of meat a little further, and begins to lay a
trail of scraps that leads right into her lap. "C'mon little fellow, you
have to choose sometime.

Jecharra sighs at the sky-blue as she listens to everyone else's attempts.
She clucks her tongue, and offers the fish pieces.

Lavinia smiles and grins at the bronze :

Tagore tries to subdue a bit of a laugh as he watches the facial
expressions of the bronze flit. He watchings him intently, growing a tad
impatient, but finding humor in the firelizard's acions.

Cantankerously Dulcet Green Hatchling regards Mercy with a hint of
fatigue. Oh, can you please give me some food? I'd come get it, but...you
know, just hatching made this bod ache...

Merla sets her strip of wherry on the sand, a ways in front of her, so
the little blue can take it without having to come too close.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Meroth it is."

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Kewl :)"

Anacely muses; A patient, confident beam twists momentarily unto her lips,
fading instantly into her usual look: Lips pursed, thoughtful at the most.
"Heh.." are her only words, if they can be considered words.

T'lar pats Juliath's leg with affection. "I like the little green, but Jul
here is much prettier."

Chrissa watches the green and asks, "would you like some food? it is
really good, then you can sleep."

LaDell crouches down in response to the blue and pulls Jecharra with her

Meli grins. "Careful, now, she'll be horrible all evenin' if y'flatter her
too much."

Kenai shakes her head at her little sister's suggestion. "No, I'd better
now- I've got half a fair to feed as it is, and Keth'd have my hide if I
added another to creel down the back of our necks in the morning."

Composed Wintry Blue Hatchling flaps his wings to dislodge a lingering
shard, though the gesture seems to be a snappy greeting to the bronze
hatchling nearby.

A soft giggle; Mercy's head tilts, regarding the green with curious eyes.
"I suppose," comes next, and without a pause for hesitation, her precious
slice is extended towards the green. "Now eat?"

Edria laughs,"I might have known the two of you would have no problem
finding the bubby trays." SHe smiles, watching the hatchlings with caring
amusment as she offers the tasty tidbits.

Taira grins at her sister. "You know you want to... we could have a pair
from the same hatching!"

Zera smiles as she watches the hatchlings, her gaze passing from one to
the other. She lays down the small piece of cloth in front of her on the
ground, her arms too tired from the firesack throwing competition to hold
out offerings for any length of time.

Cantankerously Dulcet Green Hatchling stumbles towards Mercy.

Aelyra giggles softly, watching the Wintry Blue. Was that a *salute*?

Nicoth rumbles something to the green at his side.

Alvar smiles fondly at his son at that.

Merien turns to look at the word 'bubbly.'

Kindre swings her legs from where she sits watching. "A fine clutch you
two," she calls over to Alyssa and Merla.

Brialla looks up at the bronze again. ever patient. "Are you through?
would you like more?

Krysta crys out in sorrow with the green hatchlings plight and tears a bit
of fish witch she tosses gently on the ground near the green.

Lavinia smiles at the Winsrty blue waving to him slowly, well he waved too
ad gives him a piece of ovine

Kassima hrms and starts piling all the meat that she can into a pile,
emptying her belt pouch steadily but surely. She even comes up with some
dead bugs, eventually. "Where *did* I get those?" she mutters to herself,
shaking her head as she sets them on top of the pile. One flies away while
she's not looking--not quite as deceased as she'd expected. Turning to
fetch a piece that had gone squipping out of her grip to land behind her,
she sees a rather familiar figure approaching. "Da! Don't tell me you're
here to try for a fire-lizard! Mum would have your hide faster'n you could
even quip some old saying about hides to her."

Alyssa smiles back at Kindre and rubs Isolde's head again. "Her work and
Basil's entirely..."

Firwen has noticed the little green move off and straightens up,
flickering a glance at the tiny blue. Again she nudges a piece of meat at
her feet so the baby blue can see it.

Jecharra tries the fish pieces with the bronze, and mumbles something to
him in a cooing tone.

Kylen smiles, seeing how the flits' personalities are /so/ different. She
wiggles the meat a bit, offering it to some little flit.

Pleiath is meanwhile still chasing shadows she thinks might be fish around
in the shallows. She's clumsy enough to make this totally futile, but
agile enough to make it a wonderfully entertaining game, albeit a noisy
and water-flinging one.

Aelyra smiles as she catches Tai's eye. She looks slightly embarassed to
be here at all, really. And utterly a stranger. So obviously knowing no
one. She holds out a ratty looking meatroll towards the firelizards but
isn't very confident about it.

T'lar replenishes the trail of scraps leading to him and Meli. "Oh, she
needs it every now and then. Shards, I'm usually telling her to get her
sharding tail out of the passage so I can get into the weyr."

Merla calls back to Kindre, "Don't look at me...blame it on Basil..."

Taira looks up at Alyssa, still soothing the Blue perched in her lap. "I'm
a bit biased, I'd say... "

Meli rolls her eyes, nodding in agreement. "She does seem t'think th'whole
place is jus' for her sometimes."

Composed Wintry Blue Hatchling sniffs at the meat on the ground and
sketches a few light steps toward it. A backward glance at the bronze
seems to ask for permission, then he emits something of a sigh and paces
toward the food. It's the Right Thing to Do, after all.

LaDell scoots a small peice of fish to the lovely blue, and starts singing
a quiet lullaby

Dotted Carnation Pink Egg shakes just a trifling, as if nudged by a
breeze.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "This is TOO cute. I'm laughing so hard IRL."

Jaessa brushes some of the sand off of her particualar trail of food, and
takes up her soft croon agin.

Benden Weyr> Merla Is having trouble controlling herself, as well :}

Zera glances at the eggs, as another one moves.

Kenai just grins and shakes her head, watching the hatchlings.

Nataly grins at the little green:extends her fresh ovine to the handsome
hatchling smiling encouragingly the whole time

Aelyra blinks as she spots the pink egg beginning to tremble. Oh... Now
*this* is quite something... Watching from the very beginning... Her dark
eyes are wide, utterly captivated.

Benden Weyr> Kassima just can't wait to see more of 'em! Lys, this is
going to be a log to treasure. :)

Taira catches Aelyra's look, seeming to know that expression. She gestures
the other lady closer, hoping perhaps a bit of her luck will rub off.
"Shhh... come here. They're so lovely, the eggs. And this fellow."

Keyran drops a hand on the shoulder of a younger man and the strength
displayed in his green eyes convinces the lad to move to the side so that
he can approach his daughter. "Nay, not for me. But you...Should've known
you'd be where there's a clutch. As if you need 'nother. It's like I
always say, can't start the cooking until the last dragon is Hatched."

'Da?' is mouthed soundlessly from Kindre when she recognizes Kassima's
voice. A bit of a smirk curls her lips. Heh. From the stories she's heard,
this may be better than her mother's tendancy to embarrass. Herath shifts,
though, almost sending Kin to the ground. "Aie...steady there, dearheart,"
she mumbles from her perch.

Kylen holds out the meat in her hand, watching. "You little ones need
food. Come eat."

Merla grins as the little blue gets permission from the bronze. She
chortles to herself, and reaches for another scrap from the bucket, trying
not to disturb the little bronze master of ceremonies.

Lavinia looks excited at the pink egg her smile, if possible growing wider

Aelyra moves closer to Taira with a grateful smile. She nods. "They are...
Look over there..." She points to the quivering pink egg...

Composed Wintry Blue Hatchling takes up the bit of food dropped by Firwen
and warbles softly. This is some good stuff. Don't suppose there's more?
Firwen glances around the crowds as briefly, then returns her attention to
the ground, watching the little hatchlings wander around, with the same
soft expression with which she watches her young son.

Bladrik sets down his wherry on the ground and tears off a piece of
bubbly, tosseing it towards the bronze. "Hey, haven't you decidedyet." he
chuckles, takeing a bit of the blueberry bubbly himself.

Brialla wonders if... but nah, it couldn't possibly work, but it did work
before with one, and takes out of her pouch various other types of meat in
strips. she "braids" them as she'd seen a friend of hers do, and when she
has several braids, she puts them at various distances from her and calls
to the bronze. "see! all kinds of meat. Wherry, fish, heardbeast! you'll
like at least part of it, wouldn't you?" and sits patiently to wait

Edria looks at the pink egg, a lovely color of spring."You did manage to
stay out of too much trouble, I hope?" SHe inquires of her son, keeping
one eyes on eht hatchlings and the quivering eggs.

Nataly sighs crooning softly to the little blue

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "aie, believe it or not, this all is making me
hungry :b :)"

Firwen leans down to feed the little blue some more meat. "I'm probably
going to regret this, but you do need a mama," she sighs.

Alvar nudges Edria and murmurs, "Isn't the pink egg simply beautiful?"
"Good," Mercy whispers her approval, surrendering another slice for the
green. "Now eat up," comes her next, quiet command, wriggling wherry
beckoning her to come closer. As the green trundles forth closer to this
stablehand, she steels a glance around, checking the progress of the other
hatchlings and Impressees.

T'lar says "Maybe someone should offer that bronze some klah. He seemed to
want some earlier."

Dotted Carnation Pink Egg shakes one last time and bumps against the gold
egg nearby.

Lavinia ohhs and hopes neither egg will crack premayurely

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling sniffs the air. Did he hear T'lar?
Maybe. But he makes for the klah again. Duty duty work work work...hey
you, pale blue. You're holding up the works.

Dotted Carnation Pink Egg splinters and explodes in a shower of shell
shards to reveal a hatchling colors like Ista's beaches.

Sandy and tan swirls are scattered across this slightly pudgy brown, who
regards the collected humans with chin raised and manner quietly
confident. He appears vigilant, even freshly hatched as he is, dutifully
regarding those about him, human and hatchling alike, with a faint hint of
paternal affection. His feet, darker than the rest of his pale body, move
constantly but rhythmically in the dust below his talons, as if he's
jotting something down.

Tolbak heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Rilsa chuckles at the bronze's antics.

Bladrik nods to his mom. "But of course. We only bugged a few crafters."
he giggles boyishly, his eyes on the hatchlings. He bounces as he kneels
on his knees. "Has the gold hatched? I love watching the gold decide."

Jaessa gains hope as the bronze moves, and renews her somewhat sandy trail
of meat. "C'mon little one.

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Chiloth?"

Lavinia hmmms and looks at the dutiful blue, knowing herself to be a
dutiful apprentice, maybe they might make a good match, oh and she loves
klah

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "Duly?!"

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Wrong colour, though :}. But T'gar's always
jotting stuff down ;)."

Kassima is distracted from the Hatching for the nonce, though she does
keep half an eye on those eggs. "Getting predictable in m'aged
decrepitude, Da?" she asks with a good-natured snort and a broad grin. "I
shudder to think what that makes you! They finally gave you a break from
watching the tent, did they? 'Tis about time." She looks over towards
T'lar briefly, and calls, "Who'd bring *klah* t'be feeding hatchlings? Nay
like anyone sane likes the stuff. There's Water in it, y'know."

Composed Wintry Blue Hatchling takes the meat and moves closer still, his
manner growing friendlier as he gets nearer to Firwen.

Zera oohs at the brown hatchling and can't resist waggling a rather tough
old piece of wherry at him.

Brialla then realizes waht it is... and goes and grabs a mug of klah,
sitting again near her meats. "If you want klah, you can have it" she
calls. "I and my queen will see to it you have anything you need.!"

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Chioth is cinnamon, I think."

Lavinia uhohs :hmms meant dutiful bronze

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Dutiful and scribe -- who does that sound like?"

Taira smiles up at Aelyra. "Sit," she says. She roots in her bag and
brings out a bit of precious fresh herd beast. "They're most amazing...
why they're all incredible. Cian here is the best of course... but..." He
squawks as the meat avoids his mouth.

Jecharra turns her attention to the new brown, examining the dust beneath
him.

Tagore heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Nataly wows and extends her ovine to the pudgy little brown smiling
ecstatically

Chrissa looks up as the brown hatches and smiles, "hello, little guy, how
are you? would you like some food?" she asks him in a soft voice.

Aelyra giggles softly as she watches the eggs begin to hatch... She sighs.
"They are very beautiful. Don't know if any of them would be happy aboard
ship though..." She looks at the rather tattered looking meatroll in her
hands. "I probably shouldn't bother. With all the wonderful flavours to
choose from over there, this piece of leftovers won't appeal to any of
them anyway." She shrugs.

Benden Weyr> Merla ahhs, Dulath :).

Benden Weyr> M'rgan bets Dulath.

Firwen enfolds the tiny blue hatchling with her large, protective hands
and holds meat out for him with a motherly smile.

Another one: Hatchling that is. Brows lifting their quizzical ponder upon
the hatchlings, Anacely returns to her antics: A twiddle to the left, one
to the right, though not up - she doesn't know what might be up there.
Aelyra sits by Taira as she's invited and smiles up at the other, nodding,
as she listens.

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling dutifully lands on the ground after
a hop from the basket and takes up a somewhat guarded stance near the
basket. Vigilant. That's him. He croons a greeting to the others,
especially to Isolde, and dutifully makes for some food.

Composed Wintry Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Firwen.

Kylen glances down to see if the hides on her belt are still there. They
are, and she smiles in relief. She then holds out the meat again, being
very patient. "Come eat little one. I have food for you."

Taira hands the snatch of herd beast to Aelyra. "Wanderlust is a very
contagious disease. I'm sure one could catch it!"

LaDell also looks at the new brown and leans back on her hands

Benden Weyr> Emlyn idly wonders what possible ic reason you'd have for
putting fresh, raw meat in your pocket. Presumably you would replace it
daily, or else it'd go bad. And what does it do to your pocket?

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Um...go rancid, one would imagine? :)"

Jaessa chuckles at the brown's stance and shifts part of her trail in his
direction. "Hey there.

Bladrik watches the brown hatch, idley playing with the strip pf wherry,
once he brushes the sand off of it.

Nataly grins and beckons to the beachcombing brown and wonders if he
woulkd like the beach near Fortm extends her ovine

Benden Weyr> Kassima personally keeps it in a belt pouch because of her
swarms of FLs who want treats, and it never has a chance to go rancid;
they eat it all too quickly. :P :)

Loki takes to the air and winks out. A moment later, he winks back in
carrying a half full mug of klah. He all but drops it on T'lar.

LaDell hands Jecharra more fish

Merla smiles as the little blue, so familiar in many ways, impresses. She
grins broadly at Firwen, but imagines she won't notice...she'll have other
things on her mind right now.

Jecharra deftly intercepts the beachcomber's path with her piece of fish,
looking hopefully down at him.

Edria shakes her head,"Nope. No gold yet, 'Rik." SHe grins,"And that
bronze certainly is being specific." SHe croons lightly,"Come on, little
ones..."

Aelyra giggles softly. "Oh... Thank you!" She takes the bit of herd beast
into her hand and holds it out to the hatchlings, daring to hope... still
chewing on her lower lip.

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling scritches his feet in the sands and
warbles to himself. Then...what's that? AHA!!! The smell of fresh bovine!
He makes a straight line for the nearest red meat he can find.

Benden Weyr> Meli bol

Benden Weyr> Emlyn thinks, Kassi, that you personally must account for a
cow or two a week feeding the 47 fl's you've got. How much of that side
of beef do you carry daily? ;-)

Benden Weyr> T'lar falls over.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Moo. :)"

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "definately Duly! :)"

Krysta wiggles her fish again for the hatchling to view. "Ere ye are.
fresh for the eatting."

Firwen moves away from the crowds with her little blue, grumbling in a
completely satisfied manner.

Nataly extends her meat towards the hungary brown hoping he likes it
Color-Bursting Poppy Egg bounces around with just-contained delight and
just-contained occupant.

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Actually the bronze reminds me a little of
Tzornth, who went running through the stands, refusing to pick a lifemate
until young Fahlan went up from the sands and yelled at him."

Jecharra looks at LaDell with worry, and then rummages in her pouch for
the meatrolls, handing over a few.

LaDell smirks and touches her sister's arm, "He knows what he wants."

T'lar takes the cup from his bronze firelizard and sets it down next of
Meli.

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling yawns and glances around. No, he's
still here, truly. He just likes it back in the back with the others.

Ahen darts in from the South Bowl.

Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Only a little at a time, and it's 58,
Emlyn. ;) LOL! Definitely, definitely Dulath. ;) Yeah, but Merla, this one
isn't going up to people and yucking at the ones that smell like
Holders.... ;)"

Lavinia looks at the bouncing egg, hoping it will hatch a bouncing baby
firelizard

Chrissa smiles as the brown looks for the bovine, "thats a good little
guy, you need meat to grow up big and strong."

Jaessa looks at the bronze, absently humming a tune from her childhood.
He's picky, but she's always been patient. She adds some scraps to her
trail, and waits.

Taira looks startled as her new keeper flaps his wings boisterously. The
demand of "MORE" is obvious to more than just the newly impressed. She
dilligently brings some dried fish to his mouth. "You'll eat me out of
the training kitchen!"

Kylen smiles, enjoying watching the hatchlings, and holds out her fresh
meat to them.

LaDell starts ripping open ameat roll and droping bits on the ground

Bladrik hmss at his mom and does his own imitation of a firelizard croon,
which his bronze joins in. He giggles again and goes back to watching the
bronze.

Kenai eyes the bronze hatchling curiously. "First unhungry hatchling I've
ever seen..." she comments thoughtfully. "Eat, silly."

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling lets out a demanding...no. No, not
demanding. That's not his style. He glances up at the hand waving bovine
meat and sits back on his hind feet. Please sir...I want some more!

Lavinia smiles "Little bronze, I can give you duties you've never dreamde
of, like leading your own fair, how bout it? and extends her herdbeast
hopeflly

Kassima shakes her head as she watches the hatchling try to draw in the
dirt. "'Tis a lovely clutch Isolde's produced, Lys, but... did she lay
them in the snow or something? That warps hatchlings like naught else
I've ever heard of...."

Ahen darts in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Alyssa just chuckles and shakes her head. "They're...unique."

"More like I took a break," Keyran tells his daughter, a faint shake of
his head accompanies his words as she looks back at the clutch again.
"Can't even spare a minute or sconce for your ol' Da? When you have
children, I hope that they'll treat you better than you've me."

Aelyra watches the bronze and giggles softly when her attention is taken
away by Taira's demanding newly impressed Firelizard. Again she giggles.
"He's very beautiful. To be that demanding, he'd better be." she comments.

Gabe heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> Merla grins at Kassi, "This is true :)."

Brialla quietly moves to the back, where the bronze is, offering the klah
and the meat in quiet worship of the bronze beauty.

Nataly grins st the brown

"Funny, tha'" Meli replies to Alyssa's comment. "They all remind me
o'somethin'. Or someone."

T'lar gets up briefly to take a skin of ale from Nicoth's straps. He sits
back down, chuckling to himself at the hatchlings' antics.

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling glances upward as well, as if trying to
judge the time by the positions of the stars above. He seems to deem it
time to head out...and leaves his perch near the basket.

Anacely gives her wherry an assured jiggle: Assured, confident, skilled -
that is her wherry, or is it her. Either way, Anacely dabs her fingers
forward, the wherry shaking within it's luscious clasp about her fingers.
Skilled, tempting: Yummy.

Merla smiles at Alyssa's statement, "Aye...what a wildly assorted group...
they'd never get on together, I don't think."

Taira watches the Poppy egg as she listens to Aelyra and grins. "Oh, he is
undoubtedly the handsomest fire lizard yet hatched!" And unlikely to ever
hear otherwise from her lips.

Kylee seems to suddenly remember she's here to work and weaves quietly out
of the crowd.

Firwen heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Ooh, ooh, have the bronze change the weather :b"

Benden Weyr> Alyssa laughs!

Zera realises that the piece of meat she's offering couldn't actually look
less attractive if she tried. She drops it by her feet and picks up a
piece of moist chicken, which she holds out resting her arm against her
knees.

Kylee heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "ROFL"

Benden Weyr> Kindre giggles!!

Benden Weyr> Merla roars!

Color-Bursting Poppy Egg bounces again. Bounce bounce bounce.

Kassima groans as she turns away from the clutch. "What's this 'when'
business, Da? Since when has it ever been 'when'? I don't drink the
Water." She snorts at the very idea, then grins. "If you want a sconce,
Da, I'll buy you a sconce. But why you'd *want* one escapes me."

Benden Weyr> Kassima ROTFLs!!!

Nataly looks at the star-gazing bronze and smiles hopefully "Little one,
I'm a starsmith, I can show you all the stars in the sky!"

Jaessa keeps humming, and takes a handful of scraps, laying them out in
an interesting pattern before her, glancing at the bronze beauty.

Merien watches the poppy-colored egg with a smile.

Kylen sees the coppery bronze look up at the stars and smiles. "I'm an
admirer of the stars, too, little one. Come with me and we can look at
them together."

Benden Weyr> Kassima likes the 'head out' line, since the FL always poses
heading out before leaving. ;)

Lavinia looks at the bouncing egg with a delighted smile

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Why do you call him the FL :)?"

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Because now that's confusing :)?"

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "Fearless Leader :)"

Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Fearless Leader, Merla, Fearless Leader. Only
now, it's literal. ;)"

LaDell still softly singing eyes the pink eggand smiles

Aelyra grins at Taira and returns her gaze to the hatching ground, holding
her bit of herd beast out to the field as far as she can without falling
over. She still chews her bottom lip, dark eyes bright with anticipation
and the joy of the moment.

T'lar smiles. "Maybe some meat dunked in the klah would get that bronze's
attention." This is said to the crowd in general.

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling dutifully rests in his former
position, and while his appetite demands him be fed meat, he's really
interested in making note of everything about him. His feet scritch again
in the sands, but if someone tries to see the patterns he's left, he
actually sits on what he's sketched.

Benden Weyr> Merla chuckles at the two of you, 'You're weird.' :)

Benden Weyr> Merla wouldn't have you any other way :)

Benden Weyr> Meli keeps snorting at the hatchling poses, confusing her
cats. :b

Jaessa chuckles at the brown. "Never knew an artist who didn't want to
show off his work.

Benden Weyr> Kassima grins and snugs Merlath. :)

From the direction of the tents comes a running crowd of youngsters.
They've just heard about the 'lizards hatching and are armed with
purloined sticks of roasted herdbeast, fresh wherry plucked off the
bakers' serving tables, bits of meatroll, handfulls of pastries, and
basically anything a child could grab to try to tempt a firelizard. They
rush up and dart through to get to the excitement. One or two drop on
hands and knees, or squirm in to be able to add their treats to the
offerings in front of the hatchlings.

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling hears Jaessa's words and ambles,
dutifully, closer. Sniff? Sniff sniff?

Aelyra watches the Brown and tries to see the sketchings, frowning
slightly with concentration. If it was supposed to mean anything though,
it's beyond her meager intelligence. She shrugs and holds out her meat
like a dutiful pet.

Brialla takes the hint, and dips her meat braid into the klah, offering
it to him. "You're beautiful. please come with me? would you? my queen
does need some looking after, and you'd be just the bronze for the job."

Edria grins at the hatchlings,'They always are so unique with their own
personalities...I wonder how long before the little one goes wild if he
doesn't Impress?" SHe hrms,"Al...do you know?"

Lavinia shakes her head at the brown "Heah little one, I can bake you
anything you'd like, if you want something special.."

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling stretches and moves closer to the
pinks again, though he rumbles with amusement at the brown.

Merla chuckles at T'lar's comment. "Some of M'kla's brew!" she adds.

Chrissa watches the brown with big eyes, "what do you like to eat? I have
lots."

Jaessa holds her breath, and tentatively offers the brown a piece of fresh
meat. A small smile plays over her lips as she croons softly to him.

T'lar laughs. "Now, Merla. We want someone to impress the hatchling, not
poison it."

Alvar shakes his head, "No idea, Edria dear."

"Trying to kill it," Kindre teases of M'kla's klah.

Amethyst heads over from the South Bowl.

Bladrik bounces his wherry strip playfully, paying more attention to his
bubbly at the moment.

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling actually hops on Jaessa's foot and
takes the meat with glee. AHA! Food, glorious food! Whoops. Then he begins
to eat in a quiet, dutiful way.

Color-Bursting Poppy Egg divides itself about its middle with twin
filigree lines, and, following a rather dramatic bounce, splits into two
halves, from which a diminutive green appears.

By far the smallest of the hatchlings, this green, as vividly verdant as
foliage, seems a trifle...well, curious. Her tiny wedge-shaped head quirks
this way and that, her nostrils flare at the smell of food, of other
hatchlings, of her egg's shards; her hind feet's teensy talons carve
designs in the dust beneath her toes like daggers etching in rock. Still,
no one can fault the leafy green for her enthusiasm for life, for learning
everything she can from the get-go. After a few moments out of the egg,
the hatchling's hide evidences a greyish cast that the hatchling briefly
attempts to clean. Nope. Part of the coloration. Hakuna Matata, and let's
get on with life!

Kylen watches the coppery bronze, holding out meat for the little one.

Kassima suddenly gets a spark of amusement. "Quick," she suggests,
grinning impishly, "someone go and get the klah pots from the brewing
contest. That *has* to be better'n M'kla's."

Keyran shakes his head softly, "Tis when since forever. How else am I to
have a couple of grandkids to bounce on my knee? To hear the story of when
their granda fought a score of men intent on doing harm to the Holder only
to emerge with just a knife wound on m'leg? Your poor mother told me to
remind you that she's nay getting any younger."

Natalylooks at the competent bronze quizzically and wonders if he wants to
be last so he can make sure al the others follow "fireizard hatching
rules"

Krysta glances at the Coperery bronze "Ye take care of ye own I see. Tis
the same with me dear one."

Jaessa winces as a small claw pierces her slipper, but she remains steady,
feeding the brown more.

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling CREELS! Free at last, free at last!!! Thank
Faranth! Whoops. Get this eggshell off me.

Merien laughs at the little green and glances back toward Tesith with a
grin.

Benden Weyr> M'rgan starts the betting on the green. ;)

Taira scritches and feeds contentedly. As the stuffed firelizard in her
lap begins to croon in *gasp* an unususal show of satisfaction, Taira
reaches for some more meat... stretching out something like a path towards
her cousin and new seafaring neighbor.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "I know who that had to be...."

Anacely prods her fingers forwards. Sly, discrete: The wherry slings
forth, not falling, not dipping - just slinging. Orbs fastened upon the
coppery form, Anacely manages a meek smile, conceal from within the
curtain of ringlets about her forehead.

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Woo woo! Hide the knives!"

Benden Weyr> Emlyn says, "Lysseth!"

Lavinia laughs at the green and bites her lip, bcause she really wants to
help her, but she can't

Chrissa turns from the brown to the green but keeps one eye on the brown
she giggles at the green, "you look like you love life, well so do I know
what type of food do you like? ovine, bovie, fish of wherry?"

Upstanding Beachcomber Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Jaessa.

Taira grins. "That green knows its mind well now doesn't it? Lovely! Must
be your sibling, Cian." The last is addressed merrily to her drowsy lapful
of lizard.

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "It must be Lyss!! :)"

Meli leans forward, eyeing the green. "Hey, she's diff'rent."

Nataly grins

Benden Weyr> Kassima laughs! I was just singing Hakuta Matata to myself RL
early this week, Lys.... ;)

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Nawwwww...."

Jecharra giggles at the pine green, and holds out a piece of meatroll,
jiggling it slightly to draw attention.

T'lar is caught in the act of nuzzling Meli's neck by the hatching of the
peculiar green. His guffaw comes out rather close to her ear.

Benden Weyr> Kenai lol!!!!

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling twists around to croooooon his greeting
at the newly arrived green and continues toward where he hopes will be
some peace and quiet. And food.

Zera chuckles at the green and half-heartedly waves her meat around for
anything that wants it.

"Eeep!" is Meli's response to T'lar's hot laugh in her ear.

Aelyra looks up at Taira and smiles, dark eyes bright. "It's so exciting!
Even if I don't find a firelizard for me... well... it was still quite
something." She giggles and returns her gaze to the field.

Merla snorts at T'lar and Kassi. She stands, "Well see about that." and
rushes off, out to the bowl proper. A moment later, she comes back with a
pot of klah, you recognise it as one from the klah brewing contest. She
sets it down in the sand, muttering, "Sorry M'kla..you're gonna have to
renter." She reaches for a scrap from the bowl, it happens to be a peice
of wherry, and she dunks it in the klah. It comes out, slathered with the
thick brew, the smell pervading the entire area. She holds it toward the
little bronze.

Brialla sighs to the unresponsive bronze "Is there anything you'd like?
tell me and you will have it, i promise."

Jaessa gathers the brown gently into her arms, still feeding his demanding
stomach and climbs to her feet. She edges away from the bulk of the crowd,
limping slightly. A huge silly grin spreads across her face.

Benden Weyr> Merla sorries, I had to :)

T'lar says "Shard it, Merla. That stuff will clog it up for a week."

From a pocket in Chrissa's shirt, Cilora chriples at the green as if
saying, "come here, I could use another playmate."

Anacely closes her azure gaze upon the bronze: "Peace? Quiet?" Anacely it
is, her wherry - the cure.

Kylen stays quiet, displaying food for the coppery bronze to see. "C'mere
and eat. Your friends will bre fine. They know what to do. Come eat,
little one."

Nataly smiles, anand extends her fresh ovine towards the beonze promising
herself to take hinm someplace where it is very quiet.

Edria grins,"Oh...another green!" SHe grins, looking again at the bronze
and offering the fresh meat to the overseer, as well as those deemed his
charges.

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling bounds across the sand with energy she must
have been storing since the clutching. She bounds, she creels, yea verily,
she chirples her exultation at the monumental delight in being here on the
sands with so many wonderful people and hey, nice dragons you got there,
everyone. Whoa, big cousins they ar...huh. Look at those KNIVES!!! Let me
have a look at ... naw. Later. Food first.

Kindre laughs, shaking her head quietly. "The poor 'lizard won't make it a
sevenday, I'd caution to wager, if he eats that! And," she smirks, "if he
does, I'll worry!"

Meli snorts. "Good thin' you made tha' mistake with Merla. Tha' I'll
forgive."

Lavinia sighs and extends her herdbeast toward the green looking
quizcxlly at the bronze

Krysta shows copper her fish and says "tis quiet in me camp. and plenty
o'food. Ere trys some fish fer now."

Kassima's attention is pretty well caught by this green, for some odd
reason. "She reminds me of... someone, but shards if I can think who." She
winces at Keyran's words, and wails, "Da! I'm hardly parenting material,
for Faranth's sake! And Mum is obsessed, you know that."

One of the little boys who arrived late has squirmed his way, crawling on
his stomach, to get his little arm in to offer a bit of pastry. At one
time the pastry was a beautiful thing with icing and a cream filling. Now
it's broken, it's filling dusted with sand from the bowl. The boy holding
it tries to croon enticingly. He darts the food in close to one of the
hatching's muzzles, trying to attract it toward him.

Gaylene heads over from the South Bowl.

Benden Weyr> Kindre rotfl!!!

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling sighs. Trust that green to get the
attention. He sits back on his tail and sniffs again for klah.

Brialla smiles to the Bronze. "tell me what you'd like. I'm very good at
serving, being kitchen help. I may not be a very important person, but I
know how to serve and care for things."

Chrissa giggles at the green, "heh you have a lot of evergy like me!" her
eyes are full of childish delight as she places some food near the
hatching and herself, "their you go, now eat! you need food for evergy."

Meli picks up a piece of meat from the sand, from the line T'lar'd lain
down earlier. "Jus' got t'see tha' green up closer" as she leans forward
a bit.

T'lar gives Meli a hug. "And the two of you look so alike." He moves the
mug of klah near Meli closer to the bronze, quietly so Meli won't see.

Lavinia hmms and walks ovver to a small kl

Taira gives an exaggerated groan as she sees the ruined desert. Baking
instincts take over once more. "Come now, the hatchlings deserve better
than the crumbs you left from your gobbling... and it must have been
lovely, too..."

Merla looks away from the bronze, up at T'lar and chuckles, "Aww....maybe
you're right." She scrapes the wherry on the side of the pot, wiping most
of the stuff off, but keeping enough on that the flavouring is still
there. Let's consider it a mild experiment. The smell is still pervasive,
so she puts the lid on the pot, so it doesn't offend everyone else too
much.

Benden Weyr> Emlyn offers Kassima a bit of raw ground beef, seeing if she
can impress the player. What the heck, if I can't get the FL>

Kylen remembers the bronze's klah craving and tries another tactic. "Some
say the StarSmiths make the best klah...if you come with me, you can have
all you want, and meat besides."

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Just don't offer tubers."

Alyssa blinks at the green. "That's a lot of energy for a hatchling..."

Krysta pours some warm klah onto her hand and rubs it into the fish
offering "now ye are a wise one and knowing what ye want. She once again
offers the fish to the copper bronze

Anacely considers: Klah? Ardent gaze cast into the klah's direction, a
slow sigh matches that of the bronzes', Anacely allowing the wherry to dip
within the crevices of her fingers, a smile almost twisting upwards into
her cheeks.

Nataly hmms and then sighs "I'm sorry little general, i promise that,I'll
get you some.

Brialla offers the mug to the bronze to sip from.

Kassima flicks a few dead bugs off of her pile, and they go skittering
away--too many on their own moving legs; she's apparently not very
thorough about whether she's squashed bugs or not. Coming up with a large
chunk of bloody, dripping, red raw wherry, she grins and offers this to
the green, while trying not to drip it all over her gown. She still looks
rather preoccupied by her conversation, though.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa LOL as everyone offers the bronze klah.

Nataly hmms "Yes, the starries are known to be very [partial to klah,
although it causes a certain diesase).

Gaylene makes her way over to Jaessa, hopefully without stepping on too
many toes. "Hi, how are things going?", she mumbles to the other girl.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Why not? Looks like fun."

Benden Weyr> Kassima oohs, Emlyn, does that ground beef have A-1??? :)

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling sniffs in the air and makes a few steps
toward a few of the ladies watching. It really is getting late; he's had a
hard day, see. Anacely? Is that...klah-dipped wherry? He smirks slightly
and croons inquisitively.

Jaessa grins, still feeding the brown hatchling in her arms. "Very well
actually." She hands the other apprentice some extra scraps. "Go for it.

Benden Weyr> Kindre giggles, now if this green decapitates one of those
bugs... ;)

As one of the little creatures opens its mouth to complain about its empty
bellies, the boy with the pastry takes a more direct approach. He attempts
to pop the goblet into the open maw.

Brialla nodds her head to the bronze and gently offers the wherry she'd
dipped in the klah

Jecharra concentrates on the energetic green: "Come, I'll fill you up!"

Aelyra turns back to look over at Taira - to blink at the ruined pie.
"Well! He certainly *was* hungry!" She grins then turns back to the
hatchlings, still holding out her meat and scanning the as unyet hatched
eggs. She sighs, looking at the herd beast meat in her hand and frowning.

Benden Weyr> Kassima just hopes it doesn't drag it around the sands and
then start cutting it apart, one bit at a time, with the head bouncing
through the crowd. That would be too weird. ;)

Benden Weyr> Meli feels a little sorry for the non-BDWers, missing out on
all the in-jokes :)

Nataly sighs and suddenly dips her ovine into the klah mug near here and
then extends it "Would this do sir" she says to the bronze

Benden Weyr> Kenai nopes- that's weYrd, Kassi. ;)

Gaylene smiles at Jaessa's hatchling and then looks at the offered scraps
as if they were grubs. "I couldn't. It wouldn't be right. All these people
were here before me."

Anacely perks. A gaze, her way. Lips trembling faintly into her grin, her
wherry lifts upwards. Not klah-dipped, but she can, as another smile
creases her cheeks, get some. "Want some wherry?" is her inquiring
gesture, hope filling her gaze.

Merla laughs as the bronze is attracted by the klah dipped wherry. She is
forced to wrinkle her own nose, as the smell from M'kla's klah threatens
to overwhelm her. She looks up at T'lar, "Just remember, it was your idea
to dip meat in the klah..."

Krysta softly coons to the copper "Aye ye are a beauty. Ere now and eat."

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling really truly is having just so wonderful a
time and buzzes right past the boy and his pastry -- sorry, no time, you
understand, 'tis naught of offense to you, my friend -- and makes right
back for the basket. Aha! Her sire and dam are there, and they receive
excited chirples that just really indicate how pleased she is to see them,
and my goodness, are they has impressed as she is about all her brothers
and sisters?

Jaessa pushes the scraps towards Gaylene. "Oh go on, try anyway.

Taira reaches over and swats the boy, upsetting her lap and Cian's perch
as she does. Tai isn't much older than the offender. "Tut! No fair
influencing the judges!" She smiles at Alyra's sigh. "A seagoing one for
you... there must be someone in there!"

T'lar shrugs. "Yeah, but I didn't recommend M'kla's paste."

J'lan heads over from the South Bowl.

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling takes the proffered wherry delicately
and begins to chew with some satisfaction.

Chrissa giggles at the green, "you had better eat little one before you
run out of evergy and can't eat!"

Flame-Licked Rose Egg moves delicately in its place and comes to a stop
beside the handle.

J'lan spies Rilsa and sneaks up behind her, covering her eyes.

Lavinia smiles "Little one? Are you interested in "fast food:"

Anacely beams; Teeth bared with the innocence of her hearty smile, Anacely
provides another slice and another prodding, "Eat more!"

Jaessa slips next to K'nan and grins up at him, her face radiant. "Look,
isn't he the sweetest thing?

Zera settles back, just happy to watch the antics of the hatchlings,
especially that hyperactive green.

LaDell shifts her position carefully so as not to frighten any hatchlings
and slowly sits forward extending the meat to the green.

Edria leans back against Alvar, careful not to let her hair get into his
eyes or tickle his nose."I hope he chooses soon...be a shame to have him
go wild." SHe looks at Bladrik,"Try the bubby again, sweeting. Perhaps the
hatchlings have a sweet tooth."

Competent Coppery Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Anacely.

Aelyra shrugs at Taira. "It won't be so bad if there isn't. I wasn't
expecting to be here for the hatching anyway... But they're all so
beautiful." A smile returns to her lips but it's a soft smile. She watches
the flame-licked rose egg with interest, simply loving the first
emmergence of the hatchlings - most interested by their thrusting free of
their delicate casings...

Rilsa starts to stand on tiptoe, but is stopped. She reaches for the hands
covering her eyes, "What in shards ..."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Anyone else notice that the green's poses are
the longest? ;)"

Keyran winces also, but his is due to the piercing sound that his
supposedly-grown daughter manages to make. But despite the wince he
remains unmoved. "She knows what's best for you, moppet. Your coming here
was harder enough on her." As Kassima bends down towards the clutch, he
crosses his arms in ill-suppressed impatience. "/Not/ another one? Your
mother will never let you in the house."

Merla laughs at T'lar's suggestion, "I suppose it's for the best!"

Gaylene looks down at the scraps in her hand and then over at all the
people uncertainly. With small steps she comes closer to the group huddled
around the basket.

Zentra heads over from the South Bowl.

Lavinia looks at the delicately moving egg with interest and sighs as the
bronze is finnaly impressed

Taira smiles at the progress of the bronze... a suitable match indeed. She
soothes her worried lizard with a practiced maternal hand... even at these
young turns.

Merien bends to look around those gathered by the basket, trying to get a
closer look at the rose egg.

J'lan says "guess who Rilsa"

Krysta sighs as seh watches the copper go. She glances again at the basket
in hopes of finding a kindered spirit.

Zentra grins. "A hatching? Can I join?"

Kylen watches the bronze impress, smiling, and turns her attention back to
the basket and unhatched eggs.

K'nan looks down at Jaessa's new hatchling, and grins. "Aye, he's quite
handsome..congratulations! I didna want t'try, had more'n enough of
m'own..."

Rilsa laughs, "Like I can't guess from the voice, J'lan." She tugs at the
hands, "leggo. I can't see."

Nataly looks excitedly atr the next soon to hatch egg

The boy who tried with the pastry looks on with dismay as the green
ignores his offering. He's a bit too far to retrieve his dainty easily, so
squirms forward a bit on his elbows, hand scrabbling out in the little
cleared area. He gets a chunk of meat somebody else dropped and readies
himself for the next pass.

Flame-Licked Rose Egg rolls around slightly again and pauses, content to
remain still for the time being.

Zentra grabs a wherry scrap and sits down.

T'lar says "Well, Merla. It does seem to be working."

Merien looks back at her lifemate accusingly as she's nudged forward. "Cut
it out."

Lavinia looks at the rose egg, patient as always

Zentra says "Has the gold been hatched yet?"

J'lan removes his hands and props his chin on Rilsa's shoulder

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling croons excitedly and with great
congratulation as her clutchsiblings find their mates, then she spins
about and tumbles toward the food and those waving it.

LaDell points to the moving eye for Jecharra's benifit and continues to
follow the green's progress

Brialla sighs as she loses the bronze and leaves her meat sitting around
her for any 'lizard who's hungry. hugging her knees to her chest and
rocking back and forty.

Taira's lap becomes a flurry of activity as Cian creels at the boy whose
actions seem to upset his pet Taira. His wings beat at the air as
menacingly as they can, which isn't as yet much, scolding in time with
Taira.

Jaessa smiles and looks around at the crowd, realizing for the first time
how many people are here. She glances up at K'nan. "Can I meet your green
now?

Benden Weyr> Kindre chuckles 'Lys :)

Krysta takes anouther piece of fish from her apron pocket and offers it to
the next hatchling that catches her eye

Gaylene settles down behind the group and starts to finger her wherry
scraps, watching for an opening so that she could squeeze closer.

Flame-Licked Rose Egg shatters into dozens of shards, releasing from its
confines a vividly colored blue hatchling.

He's purple. No, he's blue....truly, it depends on the angle at which you
regard this deeply colored hatchling. With his elongated torso, he's a
touch ungainly and ever so slightly shy, as if the edges of the hatching
are a far better place for him. He seeks solace within the other
hatchlings, preferring the company of the animals to that of people, even
if they're waving food at him. Preferring to observe, he lingers on the
outer perimeter and patiently waits and watches for the right moment to
assert himself. Curiously, tubers and bread seem to appeal to him more
than meat....

Aelyra continues to watch that Rose Egg with facination, leaning forward a
little, dark eyes wide. She brushes a lock of ebon curls out of her eyes
with an absent finger.

Rilsa leans back against J'lan and peers through the gaps at the hatching,
"These hatchlings are ... interesting."

Kassima shakes her head in amazement as she watches the green. "There's
just something *about* her," she says again, then winces. "I know," she
admits, "but I already won another egg earlier, so where's sixty any
different than fifty and nine?" Waving the raw wherry around absently
while she speaks, she makes a face. "Mayhaps, but I have to wonder at
Mum's sanity at thinking of me as a parent, *ever*...."

Lavinia ohs at the tumbling green and extends her neat toward the newly
hatched blue

J'lan says "oh they usually are"

Chrissa watches the green, holding out her meat and starts to laugh when
Cilora starts to dance a bit in her pocket.

Rilsa offers J'lan a bite of her sweetroll, "Want some?" as her eyes not
leave the firelizards.

Jecharra gasps at the new blue, and immediately holds out the breaded
portion of her meatroll.

T'lar glares down a weyrbrat that is attempting to steal some of the
scraps he has set out. After the boy leaves, he mumbles, "All he had to
do was ask."

K'nan smiles warmly, "Sure! C'mon, she's over here...I'd be surprised if
y'can see her over all these people.." Taking Jaessa's hand, he starts
leading her through the crowd and over to where his lifemate's relaxing.

Brialla sits quietly, eyeing the hatchlings intently, and waits

Jaessa decides to head to somewhere less crowded. Smiling down at her new
brown, she moves away from the crowd.

Nataly hmms and removes a small meatroll from her poscket, "Will this work
little one,"

Zentra snorts as her blue chitters to the new blue. "Yeah right Peri. I've
got too much trouble with you already."

Aelyra oh's softly as the blue hatches. She watches intently, holding out
her meat but not daring to hope...

J'lan takes a nibble of Rilsa's sweetroll, "mmm thats good, where'd you
get it?"

Benden Weyr> Meli says, "Wooga! It's Adonith!"

Krysta gasps "oh Beastie would love ye! and i knows she would share her
milk with ye. Stares in awe at the purple blue hatchling.

Getting a firelizard is serious business, especially for a ten-turn old
boy with the evidence of his dinner streaked over his cheeks. He spares a
glance at Taira and her unhappy blue, but there are lizards out there
needing impressing, so he goes back to watching the little creatures with
rapt attention. He's got the chunk of raw meat ready, intending apparently
to try his stuff technique again.

Jaessa follows K'nan, with a slight stumble. Her foot still hurts where
the brown clawed it.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling lingers with his shells, despite his
hunger not anxious to approach the humans. He croons to his dam, who
nudges him slightly to encourage him to do what he needs to do to be
happy and cared for.

LaDell raises her eyebrows at the lovely blu creature and tried to profer
her meat to the gree and her fish to the blue without being too anxious.

Benden Weyr> Kindre sorries for being mostly quiet ICly...I'm having a
hard time keeping up...

Rilsa takes back the sweetroll, munching on it, "Bake at the bakertent."
She arcs a brow at the blue, "Interesting color."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa figured if she was going to poke fun at everyone she
might as well poke fun at herself.

J'lan nods in agreement

K'nan finally manages to break from the crowd and reach the open area
near the dragons..noticing her stumble, he glances down concernedly, "You
alright?"

Lavinia ohs and looks though a small bag of hers and tada! She extends
towards the purplish-blue a small slpecially seasond baker made meatroll

Merla offers the M'kla's Klah soaked wherry to Basil, now that the klah-
loving bronze has found someone to feed him. Basil sniffsniffs at it, and
then hissssssssses at his pet. What's she trying to do, kill him or
something?

A satisfied squawk and Cian resettles on Tai's lap, his blue politely
blending in with her skirt. Well matched indeed. She croons and soothes
him. She looks down at him and smiles proudly.

Edria takes a new piece from the bowl, making sure it's juicy with fresh
blood.

Kylen watches the blue...no, purple hatch and holds out the meat she has,
and pulls a half a meatroll from her pocket, hoping it will work better
than the meat has.

Jaessa nods, a smile breaking over her face. "I'm fine, just a little
scratch is all.

Aelyra tilts her head and smiles at the little blue. So beautiful... and
so unsure. She chuckles softly. Rather like herself. She holds her meat
out to him and patiently waits, watching with eyes wide with wonder.

T'lar laughs loudly. "See, Merla. That stuff could kill a bronze dragon."

Gaylene pokes her head around the two larger girls in front of her to see
what just made that cracking noise. She manages to get a quick look at the
little blue and a soft awwww escapes her lips.

Rilsa elbows J'lan and points to Emlyn, "I found our wayward weyrling."

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling bounces from person to person, greeting them
cheerfully, looking at them, regarding them -- nice belt knife, you! --
and skips along her merry way, past the boys who are trying to lure her,
past the whe...whoa, wait. Was that wherry you have? She pauses to sniff
in Aelyra's direction. Sniff sniff sniff. Huh.

Taira scoots over a bit, adding room at the front ranks for newcomers but
keeping her vantagepoint so Cian can see his siblings hatch and impress.

Edria walks the fresh tidbit along, just above the sand."Come eat me, I'm
yummy..." the tidbit says.

Nataly hmms and wonders if they have frogotten about the green

Keyran merely taps one large boot against the sand. While he waits for his
daughter to finally pay attention to her much-abused father, his green
eyes scan the people around the clutch, his almost-constant faint grin
growing broader here and there.

K'nan nods amiably, then looks up at Veyath with a smile. "Jae..this is
Veyath. M'love, this is Jaessa." The dragon lowers her muzzle a bit from
watching the hatching to croon gently, eyes whirling contentedly.

Krysta tempts the purple blue hatchling with her fish. she smiles gently
and whispers to him "Aye ye are a rare jem, ye are."

Merla snorts at T'lar, "It's not that bad..." she looks at the green, and
sets the klah soaked wherry down for it.

Gaylene sees an opening next to Taira and quickly scoots over there.
"Thank you."

Tagore heads over from the South Bowl.

Jecharra quiets down as not to disturb the still wet blue. She coos gentle
encouragement, and lays the bread pieces out in front of her, just far
enough away as not to be frightening.

Jaessa smiles up at the green, eyes shining. "Hello, Veyath.

Kylen holds out a b bit of meat in one hand and half a meatroll in the
other, letting the little ones take their pick.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling takes one tenative step outside the
basket and does indeed move away from the remaining eggs and from her sire
and dam, yet...you know, he'd really much prefer the company of something
encased in hide. And he makes his way toward Lysseth, who seems friendly
enough.

Chrissa tells the green, "you sure hare happy, want some wherry? or
ovine?

Loki gives up trying to catch Isolde's attention and goes to stand guard
over the gold egg. He hummmmms lightly and hopefully.

Aelyra blinks at the little green as those faceted eyes turn in her
direction. She seems utterly stunned for a long moment... and then finally
realizes that she should hold her meat out to the little creature. She
does so...

Emlyn grins over at J'lan and Rilsa. She gives the visiting Reaches rider
a salute, seeming to enjoy this fact immensely, and says, "How are you,
J'lan?"

From Zentra's shoulder, Tempest chitters a bit loudly to Zentra for not
trying for the green. Zentra laughs.

Merien watches the purplish hatchling with wide eyes.

Rilsa looks at Emlyn with a shake of her head, "You really need to get a
healer to look at that arm. It keeps twitching ;)"

Taira smiles happily and nods towards her bag o' goodies as Taylene
settles down. "Take some meat and have a go at it... it's a marvellous
hatching.." she murmurs quietly, still amazed at the bundle of blue in her
lap.

Benden Weyr> M'rgan ROTFLs as the Adonith-blue starts to make the moves on
Lysseth.

Veyath considers Jaessa for a quiet moment, leaning over to whuffle at her
curiously after an encouraging pat from her lifemate.

T'lar says "Heh, Lyssa. That little one is almost the same shade as
Adonith. Hope he doesn't get lost over there next to his big cousin."

Benden Weyr> Kassima is going to @emit Lysseth, even though she's
technically not here. So no, she's not the Invisible Dragon; she's just
here in spirit. ;)

Edria watches the proud Loki with a grin, as she continues to offer the
walking wherry.

Krysta speaks softly to the purple blue, "My beastie is a bovirne and she
has the deepest brown eyes. She would love ye as much as I would."

Jaessa giggles under the whuffling, and tries to keep hold of the
squirming brown in her arms.

Rilsa extends a small bag toward Emlyn, "I've more sweetrolls if you'd
like. I went in to get one but" She grins.

Gaylene smiles to Taira, "Thank you I have some meat already. Did you
impress that one?", she points to the little blue.

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling takes that there meat from Aelyra with just
such utmost pleasure and glee and my GOODNESS how kind you are to be here
to give me some wherry just when I needed it so. She chews pensively and
leans closer to the girl, creeling with delight.

Herath croons at the tiny blue, an odd display of behavior since the gold
rarely does more than snort at the tiny creatures. Kindre gazes up at the
dragon with an odd, curious look. "You, dearest, I'll never figure out..."
is remarked before she calls over, "She thinks there's -some-thing to
him," and then shrugs.

Lysseth, who followed Kassi here awhile back--really!--peers at the small
bluecousin, and croons. Which is very odd for her, as she's not much of a
crooner.

Merla looks at the little blue, against the background of Adonith, and she
realises that T'lar is right about the shade.

Rukbat-Kissed Marigold Egg moves just a trifle, as if teasing those
watching it.

Taira nods as Cian lifts his head to peer over her leg at Alyra and the
Green hatchling. He croons in approval. Apparently one of his hatch-mates
has done something _right_!

Brialla has to go. she doesn't think there are any hatchlings that would
want her anyhow. the bronze didn't even want her, for heaven's sake!

Emlyn winks at J'lan as Rilsa teases her about the salute. She takes the
offered pastry with a pleased smile. "Thank you. I didn't go get one
because Pleiath wanted to follow me in."

Alyssa smiles at the comparison and nods. "He's a fine looking thing,
isn't he?"

Zentra watches the marigold egg with interest.

Brialla looks around at the hatchlings again

T'lar snorts. "Of course, you would say that, Lys."

K'nan grins as Veyath whuffles the healer-lass some more, sliding his hand
along his lifemate's neck to scritch her eyeridges gently. "Want to give
her a scritch, Jae? She loves them.."

Rilsa laughs at Emlyn, "She didn't?" and shakes her head, eyes darting
toward the hatchlings again.

Lavinia looks at the rocking egg but turns her attention to the purle

Kenai cranes her neck around trying to get a glimpse of the new blue, but
trying not to disturb the now sleeping baby in her lap. She blinks, and
nods. "Perfect shade," she agrees.

Aelyra's eyes light up with pleased joy as the little one leans close and
takes the meat from her hands. She searches into her pocket and manages to
pull out a less savaged meat roll to offer the little one more... She
holds out her other hand to touch the hatchling's tiny head... to caress a
finger over its smooth hide. "Oh... you're so lovely..." she murmurs in
reply to that crooning. She looks up at Taira, grinning. "Isn't she
gorgeous??"

The brown hatchling in Jaessa's arms twista to look up at the huge green
head above him. He squeaks defensively at the dragon, wanting to ptrotect
his new humanpet.

Kassima's attention is slowly but surely being drawn away from the clutch,
though the little blue approaching her dragon does give her pause. "And
here I thought 'twas Prefeth that all the blues like," she chuckles.
Switching conversation tracks, she asks, "So how is Mum, Da, and all the
others?"

Peculiar Pine Green Hatchling stumbles towards Aelyra.

The embarrassed smile Emlyn directs at Rilsa after her question answers
the query eloquently. "Ahem."

Kylen kneels down, holding out meat and roll to any hatchling that wants
it.

Merla gives up on the klah soaked piece of wherry, and reaches into the
bowl, offering a scrap of herdbeast to the little blue. Basil, at her
right, chirrups approvingly at the little fellow.

Taira looks more than a little pleased as Cian clambers up to her leg and
gives very vocal encouragement to the green. *Yes that's it. Hurry up now,
she'll give you food and you'll be happy. Hop to it!

Gaylene looks at the other people in the crowd and tries to mimic what
they are doing by holding out her meat to the hatchling and speaking to
it. "Come here little blue one..", her voice is quite quiet compared to
the other people.

Jaessa reaches up and tentatively skritches Veyath's eyeridges, her look
one of pure happiness.

Edria looks at the green and the blue-purple hatchlings,"YOu must eat to
grow, little ones." She grins, such healer wisdom...her eyes wander back
to the remaining eggs in the basket, examining both carefully and deciding
which will crack first.

Krysta looks up at Tagore "Have ye any wherry? the purple blue favors it?"
Brialla has left.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling really honestly likes it back here
with the dragons and would likely stay here if he weren't so hungry. His
feet carry him closer toward the people and their food, pausing along the
way to nudge Taira gently, a quiet reminder that the oil placed near her
really ought to be spread over the firelizard's hide to give it proper
care, mind you.

T'lar looks over Meli's shoulder at Lysseth. "Maybe we ought to give
Lysseth some food for the little one. He sure seems to prefer her to us
puny humans."

Tagore looks through his pounches and finds a small, but supple piece of
wherry and hands it to Krysta. "I hope this will do."

Veyath croons ever-so-gently, firstlids sliding down over her eyes in
response to the scritch. Leaning a bit forward, she nudges the healer
encouragingly with her snout, to her lifemate's chuckles. "She says not to
stop...like I said, she loves it."

Rukbat-Kissed Marigold Egg moves once more, this time less playfully. The
egg seems to mean business.

Jecharra is still hopeful regarding the purple-blue, and wraps some red
meat with the breading pieces, holding it out when the morsle is ready.

Pleiath manages, through some quirk of luck, to chase a rather largish
fish into the shallows. The poor thing flips, trying to regain its
rightful place. This is, of course, just what Pleiath was hoping for. She
tries to catch the flipping fish as it jerks into the air. Droplets of
water fly in all directions. The little green's jaws repeatedly close on
empty air.

Merien bends now to peer at the marigold egg.

Nataly extends her meatroll towards the placid blue encouraginly,
promising him an easy life

Merla pushes a handful of wherry at Alyssa. "It looks like Adonith,
Alyssa! You should try for it!"

Kenai chuckles as the little blue nudges her sister on his way by.
"Beautiful color, isn't he?" she muses to herself.

Lavinia looks at the rocking egg excitedly

Kylen continues to hold out her offerings, being patient, watching the
little blue quietly.

Krysta smiles her thanks as she continues to make eye contact with the
purple blue. "Ere ye are. Tis fresh from me love's pocket."

Taira grins at the purpley bleu and dips her fingers into the oil. She
sprinkles a few drops on him as he passes before setting to work on
Cian... who most immediately shows his pleasure at it.

Aelyra giggles softly and looks up at Taira with shining eyes, her
features aglow. She caresses the tiny green with tenderness and the green
croons and hops up into her lap in return, rubbing her little head against
Aelyra's hand. "She's beautiful..." she whispers again. In a flash almost
too fast to catch, the meat roll is gone and the little one's throat
undulates with the bulge of food. She croons some more.

Alyssa shakes her head, laughing lightly. "My five keep me busy enough...
along with the hundreds of dragons I like to call mine," she winks.

T'lar says "Oh, yeah. Just what she needs." His smile threatens to split
his face. "Two stuckup blues."

LaDell says "diverts her attention to the rocking egg"

Jaessa grins and continues her skritching. Wow, a firelizard and I get to
skritch a dragon all in one day.

"Maybe that's Hera's draw to the little fellow," Kindre muses from her
perch atop the dragon's foreleg.

Devlin heads over from the South Bowl.

Gaylene watches as the purple-blue hatchling nudges Taira and grins.
"Seems you have a talent for attracting firelizards today."

Kassima chuckles and tosses a piece of wherry at Lysseth, causing it to
land on her green's nose. The dragon raises her head and rumbles in
astonishment at finding a bloody piece of meat on her snout. "There. Now
Lyss is as ready to Impress as any mere human," she quips with a grin
directed towards T'lar.

Meli just grins, eyes drinking it all in.

Zentra smiles as the new egg begins to wobble.

Merla holds the wherry out to Alyssa, "What's one more...ask Kassi!"

Taira's sack remains open... the meat right there for the taking by any
passerby. "I'm sure all the time with Vilyath has attuned me to blue!
Sayra's fault indeed."

Chrissa eyes dim a moment when the green impresses but birghten again as
she watches the other eggs.

Devlin finds his way through the crowd towards Merla.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling takes a few tenative steps nearer to
Merla and her offering, his nostrils flaring slightly at the scent of
wherry and herdbeast.

Rukbat-Kissed Marigold Egg shimmies and shakes, then rests quietly again.
Another rock indicates its resident is impatient, however, as further
evidenced by the sudden emergence of a snout. In the blink of an eye the
egg is rent asunder and its former occupant appears in all of her golden
glory.

Like highly polished metal is this lady, for her fluid-bathed body
shimmers much as gold mined from the heart of Pern itself. Overlaying the
gold is the faintest hint of pink, as if the hatchling were reflecting the
first light preceeding dawn at Benden. The hatchling herself seems less
worried about her appearance than she is about those about her. A tut-tut
croon to this hatchling and a wing-pat to another hatchling encourages
them while she herself struts about in search of food for herself. One
might even believe she will ignore her own gnawing hunger to ensure the
others are taken care of...but then, that's what being a firelizard queen
is about, to her: showing others How It's Done.

T'lar says "Kassi doesn't have a fair of lizards. She has a gather."

LaDell catches her breath at the little queen

Zentra holds her wherry to the queen slowly, starting to hum gentlky.

Isolde crooooooons and hummmmms with utter delight as her golden daughter
is hatched.

Nataly smiles and beckons to the placid blue with her fresh herdbeast

T'lar says "Wow, what a beauty." He checks his trail of meat, just in
case.

Devlin's gaze pauses on the golden firelizard, his smile a bit wistful as
he awkwardly digs out some bits of meatroll to offer the newborn 'lizard.
He crouches down not far from Merla.

Edria sets the bowl of wherry pieces and juice in front of her knees,
picking through for a second piece more appealing than the first.

Merien catches her breath at the lovely gold. "She's beautiful!"

Merla is indeed holding the handful of scraps out. She's holding them
directly in front of Alyssa. She smiles at the little blue, "That's
right...go to Alyssa." she says to the Adonith-Blue Blue.

Taira draws a breath as the gold emerges. "Oh... " The mother's croon
brings her to look that way. "My but you must be a proud one..." Her oiled
fingers catch for a moment, distracted by the glow.

Rilsa smiles, "How lovely." She peers over heads to watch the queen
hatchling, "Perfect."

Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "it's got to be Kimbrith...can't be Hera, caring
for others??? ;)"

Jecharra misses what the other's attention is now turned to. She only has
eyes for that lovely purple hued baby. "Come, come, little one. There are
plenty of other 'lizards back at the dorm for you to play with."

Alvar watches his wife with a smile, before glancing out at the eggs
again.

Lavinia dasps at the golden queem amd smiles at her,her eyes widen and
then she bites her lip determindly as she extends her fresh herdbeast to
the queen

Kassima whistles, a long and audible whistle at that. "Just like--like
Herath, in color!" she can't help exclaiming.

The little brown on Emlyn's shoulder greets the little queen by lifting
his muzzle to the sky and crooning for all he's worth. Judging from
Emlyn's wince at the firelizard doing this in her ear, her opinion of
Lump's worth isn't very high at the moment.

Alyssa chuckles and takes the offerings from Merla as she watches the
gold. "Fine little lady..."

LaDell switches her hands fish for meat, and meat for fish and holds out
the meat for the little beauty, she starts singing softly again

Chrissa ooos as the gold hatches and her eyes get so big that you think
they are going to burst, "boy you sure are beautifual! you must be
starving now so come eat, II have lots of different food if you want." she
watces the gold with hope filled eyes and her firelizards cathcing her
excitment croon at the gold as if erging her over to were they are.

Kylen drops her hands to her lap in awe of the beautiful gold. She then
remembers to hold out the meat, making a little pile on the edge of her
skirt so it won't get dirty. "Come eat." she whispers. "I have a little
brown you can take care of."

Gaylene shoots Taira a confused look since she is refering to people

Gaylene has never heard about. "Ahh.. that's nice. By Faranth look at that
little beauty", she breathes.

Aelyra oh's again as she sees the gold hatch. "How lovely..." But when the
green nuzzles her hand and screeches for attention, she chuckles softly
and strokes the tiny green head. "But you are all I need, little one. More
than enough. And just as beautiful too. Yes, you are." The green seems
satisfied with that. A tiny nod of the deep green head and an answering
croon and she's already searching for more food.

Zera wriggles her way backwards through the crowd, making room near the
front. Careful not to disturb anyone too much she stands and heads back
toward the bowl.

Benden Weyr> Merla gets back on her chair after ROTFLing at the gold...

Nataly wows and looks at tht queen momentarily breathless at the site, she
beckons tro both of the hatchlings "My dear you are as golden as Rukbat
seen though the largest farviewwer!"

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling edges closer to Jecharra. She is
gentle. She is sweet, and quiet. What do you have for him to eat?

Keyran arches a heavy black brow in T'lar's direction, giving the young
man a measured yet sharp look as he starts muttering another platitude
under his breath about "...when the knife's been sharpened is when the
chicken's ready to be plucked."

Jecharra misses what the other's attention is now turned to. She only has
eyes for that lovely purple hued baby. "Come, come, little one. There are
plenty of other 'lizards back at the dorm for you to play with."

Ursa returns to the lake, shaking her head as she sees the people are
still vying for firelizard hatchlings. She joins Emlyn, eying her
carefully, before asking good naturedly, "You didn't attach any more of
the pests, did you?"

Zera heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

K'nan chuckles softly, "So...I guess you two are well acquainted, by
now." He winks, "She's a love, is Veyath...sweetest thing."

Aelyra looks up at Taira and offers the other girl a grateful smile.
"Thank you so much for all your help. I should get this little one home
though... My uncle S'vyn will be wondering where I am and I don't have any
food left." She chuckles. "If I don't get her some more food soon, she'll
screech my ear off."

Jaessa nods. "Yes, she is. And so very pretty too."

Kindre bobs her head, not needing to look at her lifemate for
clarification of color, "That she is, Kassi," is remarked studying the
beautiful gold, "Though she seems nicer than my lump." Having enough of
-that- Herath prompty pulls up her foreleg, dropping Kindre like a rock
onto the ground.

Krysta is spellstruck as seh watches teh gold. A piece of the wherry falls
from her hand as her mouth rounds in a perfect O.

LaDell nudges her sister and tries to be quiet so as not to frighten the
lizards

Devlin plucks at the patch on the knee of his pants with his freehand,
giving a vague wiggle to the bit of meatroll he holds with the other.
Spikey bits of hair stick out in their usual haphazard arrangement around
his face.

Taira oils Cian as she leans her head over, whispering an assurance. "I'm
sure your mother is very proud of you... the first to get that food!
Cleverest of the bunch, aren't you?" She moves her hand over the engorged
belly.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling hesitates in her departure from
the basket to nudge Basil and his tummy as if to say, "You're a fine-
looking bronze, you know, but honestly you ate a little much..."

Edria gasps as she looks up as the little gold hatches,"What a lovely
little queen..." She finds a tasty hunk from the bowl and offers it to the
little gold,"Come and eat, sweeting. Need to be strong to lead like a
proper gold."

Zentra smiles and whisper-sings a pretty song about beautiful queens.
"What a lovely little gold you are! Do you want some juicy wherry? I've
got som,e if you want it. My, aren't you quite the pretty one!"

Chrissa looks around then relizing the time gives one lastlook at the
gold, "oh well, I have to go, bye!"

Basil churrups at his golden spawn, but looks down at his own belly
curiously. He'd never thought about it before...

Emlyn shakes her head as Ursa returns. The weyrling grins fondly and
familiarly at the brownrider, saying, "No, Lump is a drum call of reasons
to avoid firelizard hatchings." She lifts a finger to rub the little
brown's stomach.

Kassima looks up at her father and inquires, "What's that about knives,
Da?" Naturally, that word caught her attention.

Lavinia loks at the lovely gold and chuckle s as she nudgesB

T'lar is looking only at the hatchlings. "She'll make a great mother, but
I'll bet she'll boss her pet around." He picks up a piece of yellowtail
and holds it out.

Gaylene watches the purple-blue walk right past her and over to the other
person with a look of disappointment. Shruging she squeezes forward and
offers her meat stip to the maternal gold, "Here you go. Come over here if
you want this."

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling steps back again until he bumps
against the gold. An apologetic croon quietly follows.

Kenai looks from the newly hatched, beautiful gold, to her little sister's
leftover food, to the baby sleeping in her lap, obviously debating with
herself. "No, I really shouldn't.."

Jaessa waves at Gaylene in encouragement. "I'll be at the tent, 'Lene.

Sisirye heads over from the South Bowl.

Nataly looks on in rapt attention at the maternal gold, gosh she;s hmms
ever since my mother die, I need someone like her

Jecharra says "Take your choice, my dear. I have a little bread, a little
red meat, or some yummy fish! What have you?"

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling tut-tut-tuts to the blue and
nudges him forward again. On with you, little one. Go on. No, really.
I'll stay here and guard your rear.

Jaessa heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

From Zentra's shoulder, Tempest chirples softly to the little queen,
beckoning her to come over to Zentra's shoulder and 'talk'.

Benden Weyr> Kindre agrees!!! This one is a classic! And so well-run!!
Kudo's! :)

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Hey! I wouldn't do that! Okay, I would..."

Benden Weyr> Kassima is *still* giggling about the bronze and the peculiar
pine green. And that part were the latest blue was paying attention to
Lysseth.... ;) :) Lys, it's just wonderful! :)

Ursa grins at Lump, not saying anything directly about him, though her
opinion about firelizards is not hidden. "Aye, well, you're keeping
sensibly back," she says, turning to watch the hubbub with bemusement.

Keyran harrumphs, his arms dropping to his sides. "/That/ you heard." He
waves his hand towards the clutch. "Get back to it. I can wait. Nevermind
'bout my aching leg."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Thank you...I hate that I'll be disappointing
so many."

Lavinia smiles and looks at the gold, she sounds just like Salless.."
Fauve heads over from the South Bowl.

Aelyra stands, waving to Taira. She touches the other girl's shoulder,
gently squeezing. "I hope we meet again some time... I'm Aelyra, by the
way." She chuckles. "We never introduced one another."

Benden Weyr> Merla fourths Kindre and Kassi and T'lar. Fantastic Lys :).

Jecharra chuckles at the gold's guarding instincts, and lines up the
buffet, leading to her lap.

Rilsa crosses her arms again and chuckles, watching the people and the
gold.

Gaylene looks back to Jaessa and waves acknowledgement before turning her
attention back to the gold and the blue. "Awww, no that's nice. She's
protecting her brother."

Benden Weyr> Kenai fifths? sixths? :) They're great.

Kylen watches the gold prod the blue forward, smiling at the clear
maternal instinct. "Come eat. We apprentices need someone to keep us
company when we're out at the farviewers at night."

Taira tilts her head up, smiling. "Congratulations, Aelyra... I'm Taira.
I'm sure that these two will keep us in touch admirably!" She gives a
gentle nudge to her sleeping Cian.

Emlyn unobtrusively takes Ursa's hand as the brownrider looks at the
excitement. She then turns her own attention to watch the gold's progress.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling gazes longingly at Jecharra's meaty
offerings, then sniffs. Meat? No. Ah...is that the smell of tubers in the
air?

Devlin just watches the little gold 'lizard quietly, meatroll bits a
silent offering. His gaze strays now and then towards Merla, however, a
hint of loneliness entering his features when he does so.

Nataly grins :laughs hapily, "Little Mother, what would you like,
herdbeast, ovine otr meatroll?'

Benden Weyr> Kindre laughs at the blue!!

Aelyra giggles softly and nods. "Well met, Taira. Be well!" She waves and
moves off towards the center of the bowl and her ride back to Tillek.

Lavinia smiles "I'm a baker dear blue, I could make you tubers any day of
the week!"'

Kassima harumphs in an uncanny echo, climbing to her feet as the Swarm
takes care of the remaining meat. "If your leg hurts, you could sit down,"
she suggests. But she does have some concern as she asks, "I thought it
only bothered you when the weather's bad?"

Aelyra heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Finaway heads over from the South Bowl.

Alyssa puts down the meat in her fingers. "Seems he doesn't care for
herdbeast and wherry..." she observes. "That's odd but...I rather like
it."

Jecharra watches the blue sniff, and wonders what it is she hasn't got.

Zentra chuckles at Tempest and smiles to the gold. "That was a polite
thing to do for your brother. You /must/ be hungry though! Well, when you
want some wherry I've got it."

LaDell continues to sing and hum teaching songs now and slowly profers
both the fish and the meat to the gold

Benden Weyr> Kassima bahs at Lys. You have to have some for the next
clutch with a similar theme, don't you? ;)

Merla smiles at Devlin, offering him some more wherry out of the bowl if
he wants it.

Edria grins warmly,"Look Al, such a good sister...lovely instincts as well
as a lovely hide." She waggles the tasty tidbit near the gold,"Come along
beauty...inside as well as out."

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Oh yeah, you have to do this one again, Lys :)"

Alvar grins, "Indeed, she's beautiful."

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling moves closer to a fallen scrap of
fried tuber and begins munching in placid solitude.

Fauve wanders in, with something of a skipping/run sorta stride. Stopping
to turn a moment she looks back for her sister... "Hey Finy, I think
there's 'lizards!" then without waiting more than a moment she dashes
over, squeezing her way into the circle.

Devlin returns Merla's smile with one of his own, taking a bit of the
fresher meat to give the gold some options.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa blushes. And thanks you all.

T'lar tries to catch the little gold's attention by raising and lowering
the bit of yellowtail fish.

Benden Weyr> Kindre agrees!! Definately, 'Lys! :)

Swirled Hyacinth Egg suddenly realizes it's alone in the basket, there
amidst the shards, and begins to rock with purpose. And roll with need.
And rock and roll and roll and rock.

The small lad who squrimed on his stomach has been simply staring at the
little queen. He shakes his head and turns his eyes back on the blue. When
the little creature turns his muzzle away from offered meat, the boy
scrabbles around looking for that bit of discarded pastry. He finds it,
and of course it's been trampled by little lizard feet. The boy doesn't
bother with dust and tries to pop the goblet in the blue's mouth. This
might cost the boy a finger.

Nataly smiles as the little blue finds something oto eat, then looks at
the rockin egg

Keyran shakes his head. "Did I say it was huring?" He loops an arm around
his daughter's shoulders, giving her a quick hug before prodding her back
to the clutch. "Get back to your friends. Your da will be fine."

Kylen arranges her meat and meatrolls in a sun-like shape. "This is what
you make me tink of, little gold. The brightest star we know."

Finaway sighs as her sister practicaly shoves her way threw, but her own
eyes brighten and she 'eases' her way into the circle too for a closer
look.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling appears placated that her little
blue companion is eating .. that's something, but shards, he really wants
plumping up, and fried tuber just will NOT do it! Still, for her, meat
will suffice.

Taira opens her bag now that Cian is resting, comfortably oiled and MORE
than comfortably fed. She rolls the contents of the bag onto the ground
near the younger folks with no hatchlings yet.

Swirled Hyacinth Egg shakes again, and a foot shows. Yeouch, those shards
can be sharp!

Jecharra settles back on her hind end, and looks down at her packett of
left-over dinner. She picks out some more bread, and a crumb of a tuber,
stuck to the linen with gravey.

Zentra hmmms. To make the gold happy, she gives a handful of meat to the
blue.

Lavinia looks at the gold and extends a piece ogf fresh meat, sutible to
such a loving caring mothering gold

Krysta crumbles some sweet roll into her hand then covers her piece of
wherry and offers it to the gold hatchling. Her mouth forms a perfect O as
she stands speeckless before this beauty.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling finishes his tuber and ambles toward
Kassima. Sniff? Sniff sniff? Nope. No tubers within a length of this
rider. He continues on, in his quiet and inobtrusively, "don't mind me;
just doing my duty" way.

Gaylene looks down at the meat scrap she's holding out to the blue and the
gold and examines it. "Hmm.. seems I've gotten some sand on this one", she
mutters to herself. She blows on the meat trying to dislodge the sand
grains and flicks at it before presenting the cleaned meat to the
hatchlings again.

LaDell holds the meatroll carefully nearer the gold, "Isn't she the most
lovely thing you've ever seen?" she asks Jecharra

Ursa chats quietly with Emlyn while she watches the hatchlings.
Occasionally she shakes her head at the ridiculous little things. "So what
other events have you caught today?" she asks the weyrling. "Other than a
toss in the firestone throw?"

Kassima chuckles, and shakes her head in bemusement. "Twenty and one
Turns, and I'll still never figure you out, Da. But Faranth, there're
plenty of places t'sit, y'know, and that's bound to be better than
standing...." As the blue wanders up to her, she calls down to him,
"Afraid I certes don't have the tubers you're looking for, lad."

Nataly sighs "Dear mothering golkd, I'll listen to you, whatever you tell
me, I'll obey!'

Devlin comments to his foster mom, "I wonder if she'll be as pushy about
the nice sunny spots as Kimbrith is?" He wiggles the bit of fresh meat
where the gold can hopefully see it.

Fauve wiggles her way down to the ground, kinda scrunched up between a
couplea people, and tries to dig through her pouch for something to offer
before its too late. Finding a bit of meatroll from lunch she goes to
offer it, suddenly remembering Finaway. She smirks, trying to wave the
girl over.

Kylen watches the gold, "You're just...beautiful." she smiles.

Loki digs through the pack of scraps at T'lar's side. He discards a half-
eaten roll as unsuitable. It comes to a resting place at Nicoth's nose.

Swirled Hyacinth Egg rolls away from the rest of the clutch, shudders
twice, bounces, then shatters and releases its small, brightly metallic
occupant.

Small, stocky, and cheerful as a summer outing at Shipfish Isle is this
undersized bronze, whose gilded coloration glitters so that, in some
light, he might be mistaken for a tiny gold. Never fear, however; all male
is this bronze, as one will see by the manner in which he dotes on the
greens and golds. Certainly, he may be a trifle swaggering, but all in
all his easy-going nature will win over any heart, human or lizard alike.

At her sister's calling, Jecharra finally takes a good look at the queen.
"Good luck!"

Edria glances at the little foot that shows through the remaining egg,
checking her pouch for numbweed, should the shell be too sharp. Her eyes
return to the gold,"Come now, little lady. Have some fresh meat."

Emlyn leans toward Ursa to answer, her eyes mostly on the hatchlings,
though she does turn her gaze toward the brownrider's dark eyes every now
and again, "Well, don't laugh when I tell you this. I spent almost the
entire day talking herdbeasts with some beastcrafters."

Finaway catches her twins eye, grining. Making her way next to her, she
hunkers down too, extracting a bit of meat roll her self.

Gaylene's eyebrows lift as the last egg hatches. "Another gold? Oh..
actually maybe its a bronze."

Lavinia wows at the handsome spectacular bronze and tuurns her attention
to him and the gold

Zentra smiles at the gold, wondering if she'll try to help her new brother
too. Oh well. She gives the bronze some meat too.

Nataly smiles and beckons to the handsome bronzw with a coy smile and a
soft croon

Kylen sees the bronze hatch out of the corner of her eye but keeps all
her attention on the gold, checking to make sure the meat in a sun shape
on her skirt is clean and ready for the little gold to eat, if she so
chooses.

Taira gasps aloud, nearly waking Cian. "Two bronzes _and_ a gold?
Faranth... what a fair you've given! Fine parents these two must be!"

LaDell glances back at the beautiful blue and interupts her humming,"To
you as well ."

"More?" Mercy asks, bewilderment crossing her soft features; eyes fall on
the creeling green -- now Morna. "Yes, yes." A hushed chuckle escapes her
lips, and wherry dangles, then drops to the green's waiting maw. And the
process is repeated: slice wiggled; slice dropped; Morna eats, then
creels. "Oh -- a gold hatched!" This brings a pleased smile, wherry
dangled helplessly mid-air as she watches the progress of the blue, gold,
and new bronze.

Edria looks at the tiny bronze,"And a handsome gentleman to finish the
hatching." She tosses a piece of wherry near him, since he's so much
smaller.

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling bugles with a distinctive TADA!!! Here he
is to save the day...! Not at all shy is this bronze fellow; he hops out
of the basket and makes directly for the smell of meat. Directly, that is,
until his foot steps in a puddle of spilled ale. He lifts his foot, sniffs
at it experimentally, and croons with sheer delight.

Krysta gathers her wits and softly says to the gold "are ye hungry little
mother? Would ye care for a bite of sweet covered wherry?"

Rilsa sees the bronze and chews on her lip for a moment, before reaching
into her pouch. Moving closer into the circle, she squats down with a
gentle smile, fingers dangling enticing bits of sweetened meatroll to the
newly hatched bronze. Her brow arches at his swagger, "Aye, a fine one ye
are. Have your feast to gain strength to woo the ladies."

Benden Weyr> Kindre laughs!!! He's -perfect!-

Jecharra then looks down at LaDell's wrapping of dinner scraps. Spying a
root, she snatches it, knowing LaDell wouldn't begrudge her sister of the
chance...she holds it out for the blue's inspection.

Lavinia aws and croons softly to the bronze who is burdting with
personality,

Benden Weyr> Merla says, "Who could it be?"

T'lar continues to try to entice the little gold with fish, but almost
falls over at the bronze's delight with ale.

Fauve looks at the tiny bronze, green eyes blinking at the shimmery hide.
"Oooo...he's quite pretty. And just th'perfect color t'suit his
personality then eh Finy? So bright and charming." she holds out her
meager offering, hardly good enough but is all she has.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling moves back toward Jecharra and her
root offering. He wants to ask for it, but...well, that would be such a
bother. Gee. And she's probably all busy and everything.

Nicoth's breath blows the scent of the roll out across the hatching sands.

Gaylene giggles as the little bronze sees to like the ale he just stepped
in. "Well, you certainly will be a handful. To bad my father wasn't here -
you and him would get along fine when it comes to ale."

Ursa doesn't even try to hide her smile. "I'm not surprised in the least,
Emlyn," she drawls. "And I won't even bother to ask if you enjoyed it."

Benden Weyr> R'val . o O ( Oh my god, it's Tidranth. )

LaDell interupts her soft singing long enough to giggle at the bronze but
is still rapt by the gold,"Go right ahead.:)"

Finaway giggles a bit as the little bronze's delight in the sprits. "Aye,
one for the likes of you too, if he'll have you sis."

Kylen concentrates on the gold, watching her carefully. "Come eat, my gold
mother. Here's some yummy meat and meatrolls for you, and more where they
came from."

Edria grins, nudging Alvar,"I think the bronze has a taste for a bit of
Benden wine." She grins, offering the non-intoxicating wherry meat.

Rilsa laughs at the little bronze, "Ale is what ye like? If ye choose
quickly, I'll be able to find ye some." She dangles her 'roll at the
bronze, "Ye need to eat before ye indulge."

Benden Weyr> K'nan fears at the mention of his clutchmate. ;)

Benden Weyr> Meli snorts. "Not."

Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Tidranth? No way. :)"

Jecharra calls out to amethist-blue, "This is for yooou!" in a sing-song
voice. "Don't be silly, come and get it!"

Benden Weyr> R'val Hee. Just reminded me of him.

Lavinia smiles "Yes, it might be a good idea to eat a little!" she laughs
at the nronzes afinity

Alvar grins at Edria and laughs, "That's not a good idea, I doubt it'd be
terribly good for him."

Kindre, still sitting at Herath talons on the ground, chuckles heartily at
the honey-gold bronze and his discovery of ale. "First klah, now ale...
you're certain, 'Lys, that these eggs didn't chill in the snow?" Her tone
is obviously a teasing one.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling croons with appreciation at the
blue and his efforts to get fed, though, my goodness, he's a fussy eater.
How can he possibly get some weight on him with that little bit of food?
She sighs and resumes her own search for nourishment, her path interrupted
by the nearness of the bronze.

Devlin is quiet amidst the noise and gaeity. He wiggles the bits of meat
that he holds, having by this time nearly unravelled all the stitches that
hold the patch to the knee of his pants.

T'lar says "I've got ale, but I definately don't recommend giving it to a
hatchling."

Finaway giggles once more at the little fairs antics and offers her bit of
roll, "Hila prettys... Hungery?"

Fauve grins and points to the gold "And she seems yer type Fin. Mothery
and dotin." She giggles, eyes bright and watchful.

Kylen carefully picks out a jucy strip of meat and holds it out to the
gold, "Here's nourishment. Come eat."

Zentra smiles to the gold. What a wonderful little queen. Beautiful, too.
She makes a trail of juicy wherry from the hatchlings to her lap.

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling nudges the gold hatchling with an amiable
croon added to entice her attention. Heyyyy sweet thing, he seems to be
saying. I know we're just hatchlings and all but, if you can remember me a
few months down the road, how about letting me snuggle that cute little
rosy gold body of yours?

Jecharra leans over to hold the juicy root closer to the blue.

Gaylene wiggles her slowly drying piece of wherry in an attempt to catch
the gold or bronze's attention. "Come on. Here's some nice meat for you
but you'll have to come over here to get it. I just can't reach that far."

Krysta waves the sweetroll covered wherry inticingly for the Gold to
notice. "Aye tis good for ye and plenty of it where that came from."

Benden Weyr> Kenai eeeGADS.

Lavinia beckons to the beautiful gol

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "ROFL"

Meli chuckles at the bronze. "He's cocky, neh?"

Benden Weyr> Kassima just applauds. Just plain applauds. ;)

Lavinia looks shocked at the brones look "Why hon, she's your sister!"

Merien stands by Tesith, watching the hatchlings. She laughs quietly at
the little bronze.

Benden Weyr> Devlin hides from the testosterone oozing from that bronze. :)

Zentra laughs at the rude bronze. "Leave her alone!"

Edria again dances pieces of wherry just above the sand, tempting little
ones to pounce and eat,"Come now...have your first meal." SHe croons.

T'lar says "That he is. But he's got his priorities straight at an early
age. Me, I like the gold as well."

Benden Weyr> Sisirye laughs!!

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling doesn't seem to be aware that his appeal is
decidedly diminished by the chunk of shell resting at a jaunty angle on
his wedged head.

Finaway elbows her twin, "Ack now... don't go putting air on me now... if
a flitty will have me, I dona care what color the little tike is."

Taira ohs, stroking behind Cian's eyeridges. "Your brothers and sisters
are quite the charmers! The personalities... are you _sure_ these are just
hatchlings?" The remnants of Cian's meal, what few there are, lie
scattered about her skirts.

Rilsa pushes her hair from her face and rolls her eyes at the bronze, but
can't help but laugh. Seeing the bronze, her own gold, Starfire, croons
at him, her head nudging Rilsa to entice him. Rilsa laugh again and
dangles the meat, "Come here, little one."

Meli grins at her weyrmate "I'll jus' bet y'do."

Nataly tasks tsks "Dear oh dear, and shakes her head jokingly

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling follows the singsongy voice of
Jecharra and takes the root, nibbling delicately. Likely he won't even
finish it. But he seems happier.

Placid Amethyst-Tinged Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Jecharra.

T'lar says "Well? Don't you like the bronze?" He switches to hearbeast in
his attempts to get the little gold's attention."

Nataly smiles at the blue

LaDell holds thr meat from her meatroll out to the gold and the bronze,
sings,"Aren't you just gorgeous creatures, do you want to travel with me
to the Harper Hall?"

Jecharra nods quietly as he finally accepts the sustinance.

Fauve bites her lip and wavers her bit of meatroll about, giggling at
Finaway. She redoubles her efforts "Here handsome, oh...we could 'ave
such fun!"

Emlyn grins at her companion and doesn't bother to tell her about what she
learned of milk production in the new strains being developed for higher
elevations.

Meli mutters something under her breath that sounds like something along
the lines of 'one is enough'.

Zentra congradulates the blue and it's new lifemate.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Did anyone every guess the bronze."

A giggle; a chuckle; a soft peel of laughter: Mercy finds amusement in
the 'lings antics. "Just like a bronze," is her soft murmurings to the now
asleep green, wherry slice still dangling from pinched fingers.

Lavinia smiles Vongratulations

Benden Weyr> Kassima knows. But since Lys told me to hush early on.... ;)

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling tushes at the bronze and nudges
him toward some food. And away from her. But you know...he's got kinda a
cute tail.

Benden Weyr> Meli grins and tickles her weyrmate.

Finaway holds out her litle offer, smiling at the hatchelings, "Heyla,
Hila littles. Hungery? I can help if you'd like..."

Gaylene smiles to Jecharra, "He sure took a long time deciding."

Taira laughs, the sound delighting in the whole day and the shimmering
shells. "The kitchens at the training center will _NEVER_ be the same."

Krysta giggles as seh glances at tagore. "kinda remind ye of our
conersation today?"

Benden Weyr> M'rgan ooh-oooh-Ooohs. "I know. I know."

Edria sneezes suddnely, her blonde hair flashing gold in the diminishing
sunlight,"Sorry..*sniffle*..." her wherry dancing suffers a break in
rhythm.

Benden Weyr> Kindre is just awed, 'Lys, this is so great! :)

Nataly grins and agrees with the gold, his tail is cute, but aren't you
abiut hungary? she extends a piece of coice meat to her and the bronze

Benden Weyr> Jazmin wants a log! :)

Jecharra beams and finally takes the blue loveliness into her arms,
humming an old seahold tune to get it to sleep.

J'lan heads over from the South Bowl.

Devlin watches the gold organize everyone's meal but her own, a faint
smile touching his features. He remains quiet and patient, if somewhat
more ragged than he started.

Kylen tosses a smile in the direction of the blue that just impressed,
keeping her attention on the gold. Offering a jucy strip of meat, she
says, "You know, you look just like our sun. Come with me and we can see
lots of other stars together, but not one as beautiful as you are."

Zentra chuckles at the little flits. "Here, I've got some for both,
whoever wants it can come get it." ;)

Benden Weyr> Sisirye is amazed you can keep up with all this 'Lys!

Benden Weyr> Kassima grins at M'rgan/Horshack. ;)

Kenai grins at her sister and nudges her gently in the side. "Snag a bit
of his shell, later, if you can," she suggests to Taira. "They're about
the prettiest eggs I ever remember seeing."

T'lar says "Forget the little bronze, my lovely." He dangles the meat. "I
got a big one you can cuddle up to."

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling obediantly moves away from the gold and
toward the people trying to attract him. Hey now...here's something that
can appeal to a handsome, albeit smallish bronze! Tons and tons of people
wanting HIM! Well..but who can blame him? He's bronze, after all. His
first steps, bold and ever-so-slightly swaggering, go toward Meli. Wooga,
what a babe. Nice wherry, lady!

Lavinia smiles looks at the gold and then the bronze, ":Yeah, you know I
think you are right!"

Benden Weyr> Alyssa says, "Keep up with what?"

Benden Weyr> Kindreshack heeeeeeeeys! ;)

Benden Weyr> Alyssa :)

Benden Weyr> Merla snorts at the gold ;).

LaDell goes into a little known version of a Dragon teaching tune and
holds out the fish and meat again, "One of you has to like music."
Tagore smiles at Krysta and nods.

Benden Weyr> Kassima Kotter just snorts at Kindreshack. ;)

Taira nods definite agreement to her sister, but one look at Isolde and
the hatchlings and the notion decides to wait for a little bit at least.

Benden Weyr> Sisirye says, "All the poses! I'm about losing my mind and
I'm just watching."

Lavinia smiles ebcouragingly at the bronze "Are you sure tyou don't klike
herdbeast?'

T'lar puts more food in front of Meli just because she said 'one was
enough'.

Zentra grins to the bronze. "What a little lady's man.

Edria grins,"He can fend for himself, queenie.." she encourages,"Time to
get your own supper." SHe flips her gold hair behind her with an elbow,
careful not to get wherry juice in her hair.

Benden Weyr> Kassima is trying to watch and sing the Fiddler on the Roof
soundtrack at the same time, so has given up on posing pretty much. ;)

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Yeah, what Zentra said. }:-)"

Rilsa laughs, then wolf-whistles at the bronze to get his attention,
"C'mere, flirt." She swings the 'roll between her fingers.

Gaylene dangles her meat out for which ever hatchling happens to come
close to her. "Yummm.. tasty treats over here." She smiles and then
blushes when she realizes how silly she must sound.

Finaway chuckles at the bronze, "Shards, you as a bronze Fauve!"

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling resumes her search for sustenance
and someone who can care for her. Ha. Who's she kidding? She really wants
someone she can care for, someone with a nice shoulder to perch on,
someone to remind when it's time to Oil The Firelizards...someone with
access to a few spiffy bronzes.

Nataly her eyes are glazed as she looks mesmerized at the two
firelizardds trying to decide whicjh one reminds her most of Rukbat or
any other star

J'lan says "just what you need Ril, a flirty bronze."

Merla grins at Rilsa, "That's the way...show him some hide!"

Holding her hands out in front of her, Meli says "Whoa, now, little'un.
I've already got m'hands full w'too many Silly Males."

Jecharra peeps over LaDell's shoulder, and hopes fervently she is lucky
tonight.

Merien laughs again at the little gold. "She's a perfect queen--regal and
in charge."

Nataly smiles "You can care fior me little one, since I've no real mother
to turn too!'

LaDell laughs at everyone's antics and decideds to whistle to solo to the
song

Loki jumps up on T'lar's knee and croons encouragingly to the little
queen. He seems to be telling of food and shelter and warmth and himself.

Lavinia sighs 'I don't have a bronze but I have a brown, tat you might
like."

Rilsa winks at Merla, then grins at J'lan, "T'will go so well with me,
eh?" She turns back to the bronze again with a rather wicked grin, "C'mon
over here, I've got some females for you to ogle."

Kassima laughs under her breath as she watches the gold's antics. "She's
another that reminds me of someone--and y'know, T'lar, I think you and
that bronze were just *meant* to be...."

Fauve smirks and elbows Finaway teasingly "Stop! I'm not /that/ bad!" she
motions toward the hatchling, "But he's got style thats fer certain. If'n
one could take lessons from a 'lizard that tis."

Zentra snorts as Tempest chitters to the gold she can have someone who
REALLY needs care. And some flits. And she's got bronze connections. :)

Taira looks at the gold, smiling. "Well ma'am... they're all taking care
of finding their food now... it's your turn isn't it?"

Krysta calls to the Gold "Ere beauty. Tis love and a kind voice i'll give
ye daily." she once again offers her sweet roll coverd wherry.

T'lar looks over at Meli. "Too many _silly_ males? Am I included in that?"
To Kassi, "Heh, I resemble that remark."

J'lan just laughs at Rilsa

Kylen holds out the jucy meat, wanting to be taken care of. "Come take
care of me and my little one. Come eat, dear gold."

Devlin hums, quietly, the minecraft song. In key, Faranth help him. Still,
he attempts to wriggle the bit of meat he holds in a way that might be
enticing to a 'lizard. All right, who does he think he's kidding? It's the
same aimless sort of flopping about that any wiggling bit of meat would
have.

Meli chuckles, reaching up to ruffle T'lar's hair. "Of course, luv."

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling nudges Meli, who is quiet, and swipes her
food. She's not looking, and anyways, she's got that sawed-off runt of a
bronzerider to care for her. No, he'll just take the meat and head off to
greener pastures. Hmm...What's that Kylen has? He ventures nearer,
managing -- certainly by accident -- to brush the gold's rump on his way
past.

Kenai heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "My cheeks are hurting from all the laughing and
smiling. That bronze....."

Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Sawed-off runt of a bronzerider! Lys, I *like*
that bronze's attitude! ;) :)"

Finaway holds her bit of meatroll offering a tad further out, tring to
catch that golds attention maybe? She /is/ an offel lot like herself, into
everyones bussness and all...

Cian wakes up enough at his pet's voice to start squawking orders, even to
the bronze and gold. Chitter... cheep. Now now now, do it my way do it my
way!

Gaylene smiles and nods agreement with Taira. "That's right golden one,
you need to get something in that belly of yours and I've got just the
tempting piece of wherry you might enjoy."

Benden Weyr> Meli grins. "Makes me downright proud."

Kindre continues to chuckle at the tiny bronze, bobbing her head when she
overhears Kassima, "I was thinking just the same! Though I don't have a
bronze fireli..." Her words cut off when Herath gives her a more forceful
than necessary nudge. "Hey now...alright, I know...no more firelizards,"
she begrudgingly mumbles. Sipping from her wineskin, she's smiling soon
enough.

Lavinia oooos "Little bronze," and dangles a fresh piece of meatmfor him,
smiling sweetly

Tolbak heads over from the South Bowl.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling wheels about and swings a wing
toward the bronze but misses; it was really a half-hearted attempt
anyways. She carries onward, pausing at Alyssa's side to drop some
meatroll she didn't quite like at the bluerider's feet. Here, luv. You're
skinny too.

Ursa shakes her head, murmering to Emlyn, "Why don't the shardled things
just pick some one and get it over with? Don't see why they're so choosy."

Rilsa glances up at J'lan with a grin, "He reminds me of when Shania and I
were trying to get secrets out of you." She whistles again at the bronze,
fingers deftly tearing and tossing meat toward him.

Taira groans, and dips her fingers into the warm oil again and starts to
work on the patches again. "You won't sleep straight any time there's
someone to watch over and show how to do things, will you?"

Devlin's blue-eyed gaze tracks the little gold's movements, that same
wistful smile flitting across his features.

T'lar pouts prettily for his weyrmate. He returns his attention to
the little gold. "C'mon, beauty. Loki would just love to have you as a
friend and Nicoth wouldn't mind I'm sure.

J'lan scoots behind Rilsa and rubs her shoulders while she works hard at
getting a bronze.

Kylen glances over at the bronze to see how he is fareing and sees him
looking at her with his whirly eyes. She slowly holds out the meat toward
him, not quite forgetting about the gold, but watching the bronze, too.

Nataly smiles her green eyes glittering "Would you like someone to else
who needs your care?'

LaDell finishes the song and laughs again,"Wouldn't you like to meet lots
of new lizards at Harper Hall? You can scold me when I don't do my
lessons." she says quietly to the gold

Edria watches the bronze and gold,"My...we are starting young, aren't we."
SHe croons to the pair,'There are plenty more in the skies than each other
though...' she grins, holding out her wherry with encouragement,"Eat
litttle precious ones..."

J'lan grins at Rilsa

Benden Weyr> Kindre is worrying her sis & boyfriend with her laughter!!!
This is just too fabulous! :)

Emlyn laughs at Ursa's murmured comment. She answers, "Lump would have
impressed to a chunk of rock, if it had been able to cram his gullet with
food. These seem to have some discernment."

Merien giggles again. "She won't be bringing any meatrolls my way, will
she, Tesith?" She laughs again at something unspoken from her lifemate.

Zentra grins as her blue Peri chitters sweetly that he needs some love and
effedtion. She puts out a pile of meatrolls for the queen.

Lavinia smiles at thetwo and their flirtatious techniques extenfding the
piece of fresh food to both of them

Ursa shrugs. "S'pose that's what you get when the dam's a gold." Then
glances at Emlyn. "Er... what sort of dam did Lump have?"

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Thanks, Lys. I'm not sure whether to be pleased
or blush."

Perched lightly on Meli's shoulder, Alluire chirrups at T'lar, then relids
back to sleep.

LaDell gently lays a peice of meatroll before the queen and starts humming
a new lullaby

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling snags the meat from Kylen and, after
stuffing it down his maw, gurgles happily at the pink. She is kind to
give him some food and really, honestly, such pretty eyes she has. Too bad
she's a pink. Hey, babe, got anymore of that? He awaits another tidbit of
food and uses his free time to chew on the bootlaces of an onlooker until
they're even again. Voila.

Finaway giggles, "Well, I ain't a tease thought Fauve, like'n that lil
miss. Here lillte lady, I can help you orginize ever so many things if'n
you'd like and let me..."

Gaylene blinks in surprise. What's this? A firelizard giving food away?
She looks glumly at her wherry and mutters, "Maybe she's not hungry?"

Alyssa takes the meatroll in some surprise and, when the gold's turned
away, offers the food to Basil. "Goodness."

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Cute, obscure but cute."

Emlyn answers Ursa, "A gold. Sire was bronze." She considers, then says,
"Maybe his egg didn't get enough heat during the incubation?"

Basil eyes the meantroll, but remembering the advice of the little gold,
he snubs it.

Benden Weyr> Meli grins. "Well, they're not straps, but it was clsoe."

Rilsa winks at J'lan then says to the bronze, "No, no. You've got to
learn the more subtle ways of seduction, little guy." Her own gold croons
toward the bronze, flipping her tail enticingly.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa grins. Sorry.

Nataly grins her vivid emerald green eyes staring straight at the handome
bronze

Feyan heads over from the South Bowl.

Basil has to watch his figure now.

Kylen smiles as the bronze takes the meat from her and gets another piece
and offers it to him, watching him, "You're a handsome little thing, now
aren't you." She amiles brilliantly.

Benden Weyr> Kassima is oddly reminded of Zaphod Beeblebrox, the way he
keeps saying 'babe'. ;)

After watching the proud little bronze for a long while, Tagore decides
that he'd be a nice little flit to have around. What not, when their
personalities are a perfect match? He quickly grabs a large chuck of
wherry from a passing bowl and offers it out to the bronze fellow.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Absolutely nothing to be sorry about. He is just
perfect."

J'lan almost falls over backwards laughing "and Rilsa is just the babe to
teach ya

Benden Weyr> Merla grins as Alyssa gives Basil a body image problem :)

Feyan grabs a grubby meatroll from her pouch and offers it to the
hatchlings...."Wizards wik Feyan?"

Devlin picks through the bowl of meat, trying to find a piece that is a
good size and color for the gold. Once he's found one, he switches the
older piece for it and wiggles the new one in offering.

Krysta coo's to the Gold "Come Beauty. Ye and I can care fer the young'n
together." She shows her wherry turning it from one hand to the other.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling certainly is hungry, but you know,
she really can take care of herself, honestly. She moves away from Alyssa
and Merla and back toward the others, this time approaching Merien and her
green. An inquisitive chirple follows.

Zentra giggles as her greens Tempest and Cautious chirple to the little
bronze.

Edria watches the less-than-usual behavior,"Hmmm...make an interesting
study. Do wish they'd choose though..." SHe sighs, trying to tempt them
with the wherry.

T'lar croons tunelessly along with Loki. It should get some attention
since they're in different keys. The herd beast continues to be offered
hopefully.

Taira decides to press her luck a bit, or maybe just to draw one of the
lizards closer to Gaylene. Trying not to disturb the blue that is NEAR
rest again, she slowly weaves a bit of meat out in front of her... fingers
baking scented."

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling snares that new offering too and swallows
it entirely. He bumps his head under Kylen's chin. Keep up the good
work...any more where that came from?

Nataly smiles and offers the little mother her choice of food and looks at
her questioningly. The look is gollowed by a soft croon

Rilsa glances over at Merla, "I should've worn a skirt and shown some leg
at this point to get that bronze's attention" She grins at the goldrider.

Merien blinks down at the little gold. "Are you lost?" She extends open
hands. "I don't even have anything for you to eat!"

Jaunty Golden Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Kylen.

Tesith bends veeerrrry low to look at the hatchling with whirling blue
eyes.

Nataly smiles "Congratulations!

Kylen smiles at the bronze, getting another piece of meat and another
after that to feed him.

From Zentra's shoulder, Zeus eyes Zentra carefully as he sneaks some
wherry and a glance at the pretty gold.

Rilsa stands up and looks at J'lan with a grin, "Good thing I didn't get
'im. M'rgan and Dh'lon would've smacked me."

Tolbak smiles and Kylen and says, "Congrats!"

Feyan crouches down and wiggles her grubby meatroll for any hatchling that
is left..."Ober here, wizard. Feyan take gud care of you, pomise!"

Finaway looks over at the impresser of the lil bronze, "Congrats... and
/good luck/." She winks jauntily.

Gaylene looks over at Taira and smiles, "Maybe together we can lure her
over here?" With renewed hope she wiggles her wherry towards the little
gold.

Zentra congradulates Kylen.

Edria smiles as the bronze finally chooses,"Good..." She looks at the
gold hatchling,"Now, dearling, everyone is cared for but you. You're
next." She coos, wiggling the wherry in a last effort.

J'lan kisses Ril's cheek, "oh well you tried"

LaDell shakes her head and holds out a peice of fishroll,"Just eat a bit,
lovely, and we'll see the world together.."

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling sighs with some regret at the
greenrider's empty hands; even she has to eat, you know. One can't live on
air alone, tush tush. She bumps her nose to Tesith and moves right along,
standing near Gaylene. You seem sensible...anything there for me? It's
okay if not, but you could use just a bit yourself, you know.

T'lar says "That little bronze would choose a woman. Good taste too."

Feyan wiggels her meatroll for the gold..."You pwetty wizard. You hungy?"

Nataly sighs "Little mother, here's some food, it's good, I think would
you mind telling meA?

Kylen smiles at the little bronze, gathering him in her arms and feeding
him more and more and more.

Taira brightens considerably... two dragon riding siblings and both her
companions AND herself impressing firelizards today? Who needs a good luck
symbol. She nudges Gaylene's meat laden hand forward.

T'lar frowns. "Ah, c'mon little gold. Quit mothering everyone else and
come get some food." He dangles the herdbeast suggestively. "I got
plenty."

Krysta kneels closer to better view the Gold "Aye ye are a beauty. And out
ta take care o'the world."

Zentra giggles. "Mother would love this queen." She sets out some more
wherry for her. "Here you go, little one. Juicy meat for a beautiful
gold."

Gaylene blinks in surprise and whispers to Taira, "Look its working!
She's coming over here. That's it, I've got this nice piece of wherry for
you."

Taira says "Here little mother... your brother would like a friend to take
care of him..."

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling turns about to snort at T'lar.
That's all she bets she hears in her lifetime...how some male has plenty
to offer her.

Rilsa leans against J'lan, She mutters to J'lan, "Don't... the... to
get... ;)"

Benden Weyr> M'rgan tries to figure out how you can dangle some herdbeast
suggestively. He pauses as his thoughts churn. Oh! *blush* ;) *duck*

Merien sighs and looks at the little gold. She puts a hand on Tesith's
muzzle, smiling softly.

Benden Weyr> Kindre just laughs & laughs...oy, 'Lys! :)

Cian wakes just enough to push Gaylene's hand. *C'mon sis... you're
holding up the show!*

T'lar blinks up at Meli. "Uh, well, yes. Of course, you are. I just like
to try." He looks over at the snort. "Ah well, it seems unanimous." He
slumps a bit. Loki creels.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling then regards Gaylene again and
croons once more. Now then...where were we before we were interrupted? Ah
yes. Food. Wherry. Herdbeast. Let's see what you got?

Rilsa grins at J'lan and crosses her arms, looking at the gold, "Yeesh,
she's still roaming."

Zentra laughs. "And brains to go with the looks."

Finaway chuckles a bit at the little gold, "Oh well lovie goldie, you just
take yur time and choose the right one for you now." She her self hold out
her meatroll encouragengly.

Krysta holds out her offering of sweetrolled wherry in hopes of getting
golds attention.

Nataly smiles at thw queen "Well, dea, I know how you feel, here, this
food is great! try it, it's better than some man's?

Feyan keeps trying....she croons to the gold, in an childish parody of a
mama firelizards welcoming croon. She keeps wiggleing the meatroll, as if
it were alive......

Benden Weyr> Alyssa smiles innocently. That was an @emit. Sure. Yeah.

Benden Weyr> T'lar whacks M'rgan.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa btw apologizes for this taking so bloody long.

J'lan says "she has to make the ridght decision, heck your a woman, you
know that you they can never make up their minds."

J'lan ducks

Benden Weyr> Kassima ROTFLs at Mart! I am ashamed to admit that I wondered
that myself. ;)

Taira murmurs something excitedly to Gaylene.

Fauve watches the tiny gold and then looks at her sister sadly. She
doesn't say anything yet though, I mean, you never know.

Krysta giggles at the comments about woman folk.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "It's a perfectly good adverb."

LaDell continues to hold out the fish roll and shred it in her hand

Gaylene bites her lip as the little gold turns away but the smiles again
as she turns back. "Here you go. I think its sweet you took care of your
brothers and sisters but now you have to feed your own belly hmm?" She
lowers the wherry close to the gold's nose at Taira's urging.

Lavinia looks disdainfully at all theman "No m,an can ever give you what
you really want!

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling takes a special pause to leave
Gaylene for J'lan, And chomps on his foot. Then she struts back to Gaylene
to resume her "You WILL feed me, won't you, hon?" ritual.

Devlin watches the gold wander away and sits back a bit, gaze dropping to
the bit of meat he still holds in his hand.

Maternally Majestic Rose Gold Hatchling stumbles towards Gaylene.

Edria watches with quiet content, choose little lady. She smiles,"Don't
let men talk you into anything..." she jests, tipping the bowl of meat a
smidge.

J'lan ouches

Rilsa smiles sweetly at J'lan, "Oh, we know /exactly/ what we want. Yer
just a bit dense to see it." She looks at the gold and laughs!

LaDell sits back and smiles

Zentra smiles and congradulates Gaylene.

Nataly smiles "Congratulations!

J'lan says "Most times I wouldn't mind a woman biting me, but that hurt"

Devlin drops the bit of meat back in the bowl, rising just as quietly as
he sat. He moves, then, to the edges of the crowd and away.

Lavinia smiles "Cingratulations!

Alvar nudges his wife teasingly.

Krysta smiles at the Gold and her choice.

Rilsa rolls her eyes at J'lan.

Meli gives T'lar a squeeze, rising and moving towards Juliath. "I'm
bushed, luv, an' I've got early sweeps. Think I'll head up, neh?"

T'lar says "Ah, well." He hugs Meli close, but speaks to Merla. "Guess
Nicoth will just have to catch Kimbrith next time. That little one did so
look like her and remind me of you." He smiles."

Edria winks at Alvar

Finaway giggles, pating her sister, "No sad faces now, she did as all
golds do. Find the right person. Congraulations!" The last she calls over
the the impresser of the little lady.

T'lar says "Okay love. I"

Devlin heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Fauve lets out a small sigh as the gold finally chooses and smiles at
Finaway. "Oh well, we'll get onea them beasties onea these days eh?"

Feyan sniffles, and crys very softly..so as not to disturb anyone. She
hides it by rubbing the tears away with one fist.....

T'lar says "Okay love. I'll be up later. Sleep well."

Jorenan heads over from the South Bowl.

Meli climbs smoothly up Juliath's extended foreleg and settles herself
between the neck ridges, as the green gives a welcome rumble from deep in
her throat.

Juliath takes flight, using the thermals rising from the bowl to carry her
aloft.

LaDell gets to her feet slowly

Krysta takes Tagore's hand in hopes that he will escort her home

Benden Weyr> Meli waves at the weyr. "Great job, lys!!!!"

Alyssa rummages a bit through the basket. "That seems to be all of them,"
she announces with a tired sigh, offering Isolde a bit of the raw wherry.
"Good work, love."

Gaylene beams with pride as the little gold seems to take a liking to the
wherry. She looks around at all the people congratulating her and smiles,
not quite believing it.

Benden Weyr> T'lar says, "Great hatching! Fabulous."

Zentra heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Edria stands, brushing the sand from her skirts.

Kindre leans against Hera's legs laughig hard at the tossed comments,
though they come out in quiet tones; she's covering her mouth. "Congrats!"
is called when the gold finally chooses.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa HUGS Woogawoman. Thanks!

Rilsa swats at J'lan with a hand and grins, "What will Shania think?" She
winks.

Keyran lays a soft hand on his daughter's shoulder. "Mayhap I'd better
find m'self a chair after all."

J'lan whipsers something to Rilsa.

Tagore smiles and latches onto Krysta's hand and says, "Let's go...." He
heads toward the bowl.

Feyan rises, and quietly wanders away.....

Taira looks up, startled at the sound of disappointment... she bites her
lower lip, then says "Maybe someone could help her with the oiling and
feeding? I think the gold is going to be work!"

Benden Weyr> Kindre snugga Meli! :)

Feyan heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> Alyssa excuses herself to go collapse. :P

As the last of the hatchlings impress, the older firelizards that were
hanging around the edges swoop in to finish off the scraps.

Fauve manages to unfold herself as the ones around her clear out. She
extends a hand down to Finaway and looks over her shoulder at Gaylene
"Yeah, congrats. She's pretty."

Kylen looks up to see who the gold has impressed and smiles at Gaylene,
going back to feeding her bronze.

Tagore heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Merien leans back against Tesith, smiling. She takes her gloves from her
riding jacket but doesn't put them on quiet yet.

Krysta heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> Kindre resuperhugs 'Lys!!! Fabulous!!!!

Finaway takes her sisters hand, yanking her self up. The two stand exactly
the same height.

Taira looks towards Alyssa and Isolde. She addresses the gold firelizard.
"Ma'am, I'll do my best by your son..."

Rilsa arches a brow at J'lan, "oh, really." She shakes her head and
motions toward the main gather, "Wanna check out the tents?"

R'val heads over from the South Bowl.

Fauve motions with her head "C'mon, lets check out th'rest a th'gather
then."

Jecharra yawns and stretches, careful not to bother her purpley blue
bundle. "I'd better be getting back to the weaver's crowd. LaDell, is your
father coming on Sereth?"

J'lan says "Sure, can but me a sweetroll"

"The hatching's over, dear hearts," comes Mercy'

Isolde moves closer to Basil and croons softly as Alyssa replies with a
smile to Taira, "She's counting on you to do so..."

LaDell stands next to her sister and admires the dear little blue, "He's
just gorgeous my dear, what will you name him?"

Mercy* swaps her typist! She wasn't done yet! Sheesh. ;>

Basil crooOOOOooons to Isolde, nuzzling her.

Rilsa hands J'lan the bag with one remaining sweetroll, "Here. You can buy
/me/ something nice."

J'lan says "what do you want?"

LaDell says "Yes, he's supposed to pick me up soon, do you need a ride
home?""

J'lan munches the sweetroll

Taira beams, scritching at Cian's eyeridges. "He's the baker's training
kitchens to feed in... I think he'll be happy. And lots of lizards between
my sisters and K'tel!"

Rilsa shrugs, and smiles, "We'll see ;0"

Finaway nods, smiling at the rest of the group.

Rilsa heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Jorenan looks around, trying to pick out weyrfolk he knows in this
enormous press of people and dragons.

Finaway heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Fauve heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Merien pulls her gloves on and stratches, putting one hand on Tesith's
leg.

Kylen turns to look up at Tolbak from her seat on the floor. "Look!"

J'lan heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Jecharra shakes her head. "I don't know yet. There's got to be a great
dye-name that'll fit him." She looks up from adoring him. "That'll be
great, if he can drop me back at the Hall."

Merien climbs up Tesith's foreleg until she reaches the neckridges.
From her secure position on Tesith's neckridges, Merien buckles herself
into the straps.

Keyran heads back to the bowl, his limp even more pronounced as standing
for that candlemark didn't help his old injury.

"The hatching's over," Mercy murmurs to the greens occupying her folded
arms; with a slight sigh, she hefts herself up from her perch on the
ground, moving over to the gold firelizard and Alyssa. "Thank you."

Benden Weyr> Merla applauds Alyssa, btw :)

Keyran heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Gaylene has fed the little gold enough wherry slices now that she can pick
her up. With the most gentle touch, as if she were cradling a snowflake,
Gaylene hugs the firelizard close to her body. To Taira, "Thank you so
much for helping me. I.. I don't know what to say."

LaDell smiles, "I'm sure he can, come with me and we'll think up a great
name on the way."

Tolbak smiles at Kylen and says, "I see!" He smiles warmly and says again,
"congrats!"

Merla stands, "You want to go get something to eat yourself?" she asks
Alyssa, "It's about feast time, isn't it?"

Benden Weyr> Alyssa just blushes. My goodness...this keeps up I'll have an
ego the size of...hmm...a lentil? ;)

Benden Weyr> Kassima applauds Lys enthusiastically. And now, we can do the
feast, the closing ceremonies, the display, and the fireworks--and it'll
all be *done*! Whew! :)

Jecharra nods to Ladell wearily.

"I best be off to visit my parents before the next event," Kindre says
while getting to her feet. Thumping Herath affectionately, she whispers,
"Behave," before heading towards the tent.

LaDell heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Tesith takes flight, using the thermals rising from the bowl to carry her
aloft.

Emlyn watches the crowd drift off. She calls Pleiath out of the lake. The
green comes over with an exuberantly clumsy gallop.

Benden Weyr> Merla is looking forward to the done part, almost as much as
she's looking forward to the rest of the events :).

Jecharra heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Kylen picks up some more meat for the little hungry bronze and stands,
asking Tolbak, "Walk with me?"

R'val wanders over towards Emlyn and smiles at her jauntily, "How did the
Hatching go?" he inquires.

Taira chuckles. "She chose the right person... they always do."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa in turn says what a great job you ALL have done to
make this a really fine gather, starting with Kassi and Merlath. :)

Gaylene smiles gratefully to Alyssa, "Thank you for letting me
participate. I never dreamed.."

Alyssa collects Isolde and nods to Merla. "I'm a little hungry, thank
you...oh! You're welcome," she adds to Gaylene. "I hope you enjoy her.
Isolde's daughters are always fine creatures.

Benden Weyr> Kindre seconds that!! Kudo's Merla & Kassi!!

Tolbak smiles and joins Kylen by her side.

Kindre heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Benden Weyr> Kassima blushes. :) Faranth, everyone did so much to help
just by being here! :)

Merla says, "To the Bakercraft tent?"

Kylen feeds the bronze, going with Tolbak.

Emlyn grins at R'val and lifts a shoulder. "The hatchlings were far
choosier than I've ever seen before, but they seem to have found good
matches. Unlike some lizards I know." The brown on her shoulder, for
example, though she doesn't mention the lump by name.

Alyssa nods as she collects both basket and firelizard; Isolde is still
flirting with Basil. "Yes, please..." she tells Merla.

Taira gathers up Cian and grins. "I hope I'm not _quite_ that bossy..."
her tone is affectionate. After all, Cian is just about as perfect as
perfect can be isn't he?

Gaylene smiles a looks down at the little gold cradled next to her body,
a pair of joyful tears roll down her cheek and accidentally splash on the
little one's head rousing a squeek of dismay from the firelizard.

Taira smiles. "Those two look as if they're about to go about creating
another fair as fine as this one."

Benden Weyr> Alyssa wishes P'tran had been here. :)

"Thank you, Alyssa," Mercy puts forth, giving the 'rider a slight smile
and nod of her head. Folded arms encompassed two green lumps -- bother
asleep, though one much smaller than the other. "Morna's a beautiful
green."

Herath huffs a bit before settling down for a short nap.

Jorenan finally sees a few former Candidates that he knows, and heads in
their direction. Many of them appear to be in a cluster around what turns
out to be Alyssa and a basket. He nods to Alyssa, a grin passing along his
face. "Ma'am," he says quietly, by way of greetin.

Taira grins at Mercy... a somewhat familiar Igen face. "Are you going back
to Igen?"

R'val grins warmly at Emlyn and glances about, "Quite a crowd here..."

Kylen heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

Alyssa smiles fondly at Jorenan. "It's just Alyssa now, Jorenan...nice to
see you!"

Kassima nods to Merla. "Aye, for the feasting! Just wish Da had had the
time... ach, well; he's so proud of helping with that tent, y'know."
Climbing aboard the nearest available rock, she calls, "Everyone! Now's
the time for tonight's feast to begin in the BakerCraft tent, where
there're many delicacies prepared by our own Emne and Co-Craftmaster
Ofira!"

Tolbak heads in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering
lake.

R'val's eyes alight and he beams at Emlyn, "A feast!" he crows, with
pleasure.

Jorenan chuckles. "I'll try to remember .... Alyssa," he says. He nods to
Kassima, whom he remembers from an odd night of fishing, and to various
others.

Emlyn agrees with R'val. She says, "I've been enjoying talking with people
from all over Pern the past couple of days. The festival certainly brought
people from near and far."

T'lar stands and slaps Nicoth on the flank, hurting his hand more than the
dragon's hide. "I'm for food."

"Me?" Mercy smiles, swinging her gaze to Taira. "I might; are you?"

Taira chuckles. "I'd like to visit there if I can before I go back to the
training center."

R'val nods to Emlyn, "There's nothing so fascinating as other places and
other people," He smiles at Emlyn gently, "And you must need that fresh
breath of air at this point, stuck as you are always here in Benden."

Ursa grins at R'val. "Yeah, I remember being stuck here so long. Not that
I ever felt "stuck" when I was at Igen," she adds, "But so far from home,
and unable to leave..."

"Oh! You're not staying for the feast?" Mercy echos Taira's chuckle,
amber-flecked orbs sweeping towards her Baker's knot. "I see. Well, maybe
you'd like to stay -- at least for a bit? -- and keep me company for a
bite to eat?"

Emlyn agrees with R'val and Ursa by nodding emphatically.

Taira says "But I do want to go to the feast first and see what thte
others have come up with!"

Kassima hops off her rock and heads for the feast without escort, clouds
of fire-lizards following along in her wake.

R'val grins at Ursa, "We've all of us felt that. And it's always
refreshing to see guests here at Benden!!" He winks at Emlyn and Ursa,
"Shall we go enjoy the feast?"

You head in the direction of the South bowl, leaving the shimmering lake.
