It's a lot of fun, though. ;) And it involves Kylarr's first crush! I figured if nothing else, U'yn might like to see that tidbit about his father. (Ow! Don't hit me, U'yn!) Also, Kassi gets flirted with by a proddy--and female-- greenrider, and Caitria comes up with an ingenious way for her to escape! Okay, so it doesn't work ICly. But it still makes me snicker whenever I read this. ;) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Log: You walk past the lintel and into the wide living cavern. Myklarr ignores the people in the cavern, deciding instead to walk, or rather, storm, over to a quiet table in a far corner. Lysseth> Kylarr hops down off of the Harperhall watchdragon with a bright smile. Calling thanks, he trots off toward the lower cavern, beaming at Kassima. "I've just been apprenticed!" [Editor's Note: Oops. ;) I decided to have Lysseth @pemit Kassi's response to this, thus why Kassi's next pose occurs outside.] R'val wavvse to Kassima with a grin, "Hey Kassi." T'fian looks away from Aladis to nod to Kassima. Lysseth> Kassima sticks her head out of the Living Caverns and beams. "That's terrific news, Kylarr! You'd best get out of the cold, though... it's freezing out there!" She shudders and ducks back inside. Aladis smiles sweetly at the two male riders and takes a drink from her mug of ale. Kassima sticks her head out to call something to someone in the Bowl, then ducks back in with a grin on her face. She waves cheerfully to everyone. "Heyla, all!" Obviously in a merry mood, she practically skips over to the cider pitcher and pours herself a glass. Lysseth> Kylarr grins at Kassima and nods, "Can't do to have that happen," he calls, running toward the lower cavern. Kylarr walks in from the bowl. T'fian takes another deep breath then jumps, suddenly, for no apparent reason. He stands and says quietly. "I think I'll go wait in the records room. If one of you see Cerilla, tell her I'm there." He looks at Aladis and then turns to walk out. Kylarr comes in at a run, his face wreathed in a warm smile, very obviously brushing an imaginary bit of lint off of the new, harper blue, knot on his shoulder. Kassima takes a free seat at the Thunderbolt table and nods to the bluerider in parting. "Clear skies, T'fian." Myklarr sips his klah, looking down at the table and ocassionally muttering under his breath. His face is dark with built up anger. R'val smiles at Aladis warmly as he leans back in his seat, "How's Asabeth, Aladis?" Kassima grins at Kylarr. "So when did this happen?" she asks, gesturing towards his new knot. "Just today?" T'fian walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Aladis turns to smile at Kassima, then back to T'fian. She closes one eye in a very obvious wink. She looks over at R'val, "Asabeth? SHe's never been better." R'val smiles at Aladis, nodding, "Mmm. I see." He glances out at the bowl entrance thoughtfully. Kylarr beams at Kassima. "Just now. I've come back to get my things. Then I move to the Harper Hall. I'm so...happy!" He glances over at his brother and snorts. "Eloquent as ever, I see, Myklarr." Myklarr looks up, hearing his name. Seeing his brother, his face darkens even more if that's possible. "Why do you always have to butt into my life?" he asks darkly. R'val glances at Kylarr, "Harper Hall?" Aladis takes another sip of her ale and stands, cradling the mug in one hand. "If you'll excuse me, I think I'll go...get a breath of fresh air." She smiles with particular brightness at R'val, then sashays toward the Bowl, mug in hand. Aladis walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Kassima smiles brightly. "Good! 'Tis good t'see you happy. I hope you have a marvelous time at the Hall--and I'm sure we'll be hearing all your songs, come next Gather's time." Myklarr snorts. "Useless... Harpers," he mutters. Kylarr's smile is one of pure malice. "I'll be gone soon enough, *dear* brother. Yo uneedn't worry about me." Turning to R'val, Kylarr, unaccountably, flushes as he smiles widely. "Yes, Harperhall! I've been made an apprentice." Smiling at Kassima, he nods, again. "Songs?" he asks, his eyes straying toward the bluerider for a moment. "Of course I'll play the songs for you sometime." Kassima grins. "'Twill be good to hear them. I've a liking for music, so long as the lyrics are fine." Myklarr rolls his eyes. "I wonder what idiot Harper Master ever thought Kylarr would make a good harper..." he mutters. Devid walks in from the bowl. Kylarr's left hand slides to tuck a bit of scrolled paper back into an inner pocket as he smiles at Kassima. "I think that some of them are good." He spares a cold look for his brother. "Intelligence and talent, for starters, Myklarr. Something you'd not know anything about." Devid walks off towards the kitchen. Myklarr grins, ferally. "Talent?" he laughs. "Whiny little Kylarr has talent?" his voice is rough with derision. "Well, I, for one, will be glad to have you gone, brother," he says smugly. Kassima chuckles and murmurs something about praising Faranth that she doesn't have any brothers... or sisters, for that matter. She glances over at R'val and quirks a grin. "Do all siblings fight like that?" she inquires. From the kitchen, Devid pours himself a mug of klah, and sips it carefuly, cuping his hands around the mug enjoying the warmth. Devid walks in from the kitchen. R'val grins sidelong at kassima, "Most, it seems. Kylarr walks slowly toward his brother's table, eyes glittering with contempt. "I've mroe than you ever will, Myklarr. You still can't get over the fact that our brother Impressed and not you." He smiles, wickedly. "No more than I will be, rid of your...presence." Devid pulls out a chair at a quiet table, and sits down siping his klah once more before seting it down on the table, and letting out a tired sigh. Kassima shakes her head. "I'm surprised there are any people left alive," she remarks. "I'd have thought they'd all have been killed by their brethren and sistern, in that case." R'val grins at Kassi, "WEll...who knows, maybe some siblings get along. Me and mine didn't." Benden Weyr> Caitria risks RP in the LC, but warns that she might idle, when the +watch on the conclave comes back. Caitria walks here from the Inner Cavern. Myklarr stands, his hazel eyes flashing with anger. "M'larr won't be the only one of M'kla's children to Impress," he hisses. "There are eggs out there right now. And I know I'll be Searched." He suddenly smiles, coldly. "But Kylarr of course wants to run away and be with all the other little brats at Harper Hall. Too afraid to do something useful, Kylarr? Or don't think you can handle it?" R'val looks up from his klah and smiles, waving over to Tria. Caitria slips into the LC. And, yes, she does have the baby. She blinks at Myklarr, with a slight frown, and moves to a seat, her expression lightening as she spots R'val and Kassi. Kylarr laughs in his brother's face. "What in the name of Faranth's golden egg gives you the idea that *you* of all people will be searched." He laughs again, derisively. "Useful? What I'll be doing at the Harper Hall *will* have use. Much more so than sulking and pouting and hoping for the impossible because your brother got something you didn't." Kassima makes a face and comments, mildly, "Harpering is a useful skill, Myklarr. 'Tis the Harpers who teach the younglings of Pern, aside from providing the merriment, and who keep many of the Records as well. They're the ones who keep history alive so that we can *learn* from it." Having said her piece, she turns to smile at Tria, smile widening when she sees the baby. "Heya, Tria! You and the babe are doing well, I hope?" Caitria sighs and shakes her head. "Boys," she murmurs. She peers down at the baby, and adds, "/You're/ not going to be like that." She looks up at Kassi and nods, with a smile. Devid quietly drinks his klah, and chuckles at the little bronze on his shoulder, who is sleeping after gorging on tunnelsnake meat. Kassima chuckles and advises, "Best nay be too quick about providing him with siblings. Can I get you anything? Klah, tea? Cider?" Myklarr ignores Kassima, instead grabbing Kylarr's tunic and pulling him closer. "It is not impossible. And I will be Searched!" he yells in his brother's face. Karise walks in from the bowl. Caitria winces a bit at that. "Mm. No worries, Kassi. I still remember what it was like." She hmms at the M'klaspawn. "And, somehow, I think it'll be a while before this one gets a little brother or sister." Kylarr barely manages not to lose his balance as his tunic is tugged on. He looks down at Myklarr's hand and says, in a deadly soft voice. "If you're wise, Myklarr, you'll remove that hand." Kassima rolls her eyes wordlessly at the brothers and nods to Tria with a faint grimace. "I'll nay be forgetting what it looked like anytime soon, for true and certain. You've reaffirmed my determination to nay touch the water... nay that it needed reaffirming." R'val murmurs to Caitria with a grin, "One hopes." Jarryl walks in from the bowl. R'val waves with a smile to Jarryl as she enters. Jarryl waves and smiles, smothering a yawn. Karise wanders in, hair slicked back from a recent bath, walking with true speed and a beeline to Salless. Baths always make this girl hungry. Caitria nodnods. "Juice," she says, with a slight smile. "Cider. All well and good. No klah, no water. I'm /not/ going through that again." She blinks at R'val, and shakes her head. "No hoping about it. That's not happening again." Myklarr laughs, derisively. "If I'm wise. The wittle Harper appwentice thinks he can take me," he mocks, singsonging. He does, however let go of Kylarr's tunic, but to lift both hands palm-outward and push Kylarr. Salless nods at Jarryl as she orders something. R'val smiles at TRia gently, "S'your choice." He winks. Salless takes the pitcher of chilled citron juice from the ice box and pours Jarryl a glass. Caitria sighs in irritation, and looks like, if not for the kiddo in her arms, she'd go over and thwap one of the M'klaspawn. She hefts a meatroll and glances at the two, looking very tempted. Kassima waves to Karise and Jarryl and gets up to pour a glass of redfruit juice for Tria. On her way back, glass in hand, she happens to glance over at Kylarr and Myklarr and frowns. "Stop that!" she says sharply, voice like a whipcrack. "If you can't settle your differences peacefully, *leave*. The Living Caverns is *nay* the place for fighting." Benden Weyr> Myklarr oh yeah. I hope no one minds the M'klaspawn getting into a fight in the living cavern. :) Benden Weyr> Caitria will throw meatrolls if they do. :) Kylarr glares at his brother, stumbling backwards. Regaining his balance, he slowly and deliberately straightens his tunic. Then, with a mocking smile. "I see your maturity comes out at the best of times, Myklarr. I could beat you to a bloody pulp if I wanted to. But," he pauses, nodding to Caitria, Kassima, and Salless, "there are ladies present." Benden Weyr> Kassima giggles. Nah, so long as you sell me ringside seats. :) Jarryl finishes her juice, and yawns... Karise nods to Kassi, the motion making tiny water dropplests fall from her brow. She snags two bowls of stew, and minces her way to a empty table. Even the server has got to eat. Jarryl heads to bed, stopping too admire Caitria's baby and get all msuhy faced. "He's beautiful," she murmurs, and smiles at the mum. Caitria beams. "Thank you." She gently straightens the baby's blanket. Jarryl walks towards the inner cavern. Myklarr snorts. "Yeah, right. Too afraid to be beaten in front of other people. Very well," he laughs. "You want to take this outside? You want to see who can beat who into a bloody pulp?" He says this with a large, cold smile on his face, obviously quite sure of what the outcome would be. Kylarr flashes a grin at his brother. "Who know, Myklarr, it might improve your lookos to have your nose and jaw broken." With that, he turns away and moves to pour himself a mug of klah. Benden Weyr> Karise acks and will BRB....I didn't leave the LC, really. :) Karise walks towards the inner cavern. Myklarr growls. "Big words, wittle bwuther. Can you back 'em up?" he asks and lunges after his brother's back, grabbing him on the shoulder with a tight grip and yanking, trying to spin Kylarr around. Devid watches the argument going on and tries to look as small as his size will allow, it wouldn't do for a candidate to get mixed up in something like this. Caitria sighs. "Children," she says, raising her voice. "If you can't be civil to each other, I'd appreciate it if you went elsewhere. Separately." Her voice is that Big Mean Master (tm) voice...not one to be taken lightly. Karise walks here from the Inner Cavern. Kylarr ignores his brothers comment and proceeds to pour himself a mug of klah, taking a sip. However, as Myklarr's hand grabs his shoulder and yanks, he loses his balance and falls backward heavily, the very hot contents of his mug emptying as Kylarr lands on the floor of the living cavern with a thump. "Myklarr," he hisses, "you'll pay for that." R'val glances at Tria, then at the brothers, frowning. Caitria frowns. "Kassi, could you take Cail for a few?" Kassima sighs and nods to Tria with a slight smile. "Of course, Tria...." Myklarr smiles, his eyes alight with a malicious amusement. He does however, stand back at Caitria's command. "Look," he says, grinning. "The Harper apprentice can't walk without falling over." Caitria gave you Cailivan. Caitria carefully puts down the baby. You lift the baby into your arms. Myklarr mocks, "Did the wittle appwentice spill hot klah all over his little self?" Caitria hands over the little one, and gets to her feet, looking more than a little put out as she heads over to the M'klaspawn. "I think I've heard /just/ about enough," she snaps. Kassima proceeds to tickle the baby's chin and basically turn to mush (awww, he's so cute!), steadfastedly ignoring the argument. R'val glances at Kassima and chuckles, with a wink, "Sure you're never going to have kids?" Karise settles down, two stew bowls in hands. Alright, time to eat and everything looks good! But she pauses, peering at the bowls before asking aloud. "Does anyone want anything?" Myklarr looks at Caitria, his expression sullen. "Who made you Weyrleader?" he asks the Herder Master, ignoring her rank. In Kassi's arms, Cailivan blinks. . o O ( This doesn't look like Mom. ) Then, after a moment, he yawns, looking utterly cute. Kassima chuckles lightly. "Fairly certain, aye. Watching this lad be born rather steeled my resolve on that." She doesn't look up from the baby, still alternatively cooing at him and awwwwwwwwing when he does something particularly adorable. Kylarr brushes himself off, not noticing the hide that's slipped from his pocket, and slowly gets to his feet. "I never pretended to be graceful when pushed." He nods quite respectfully to Caitria. "Of course, Master. I apologize for myself, and for my brother." Kylarr glances furtively around before setting the scroll down. R'val grins wryly, "It did look rather painful." Kylarr says "Now, I've got to go gather my things." Rolled-up Scroll(#12914V) This is a neatly-rolled scroll. When unwrapped, it shows the words of a song written in a careful hand. The words read: I have dreamed thee too long Never seen thee or touched thee, but know thee with all of my heart. Half a wish, half a song, Thou hast always been with me though we have always been apart. Vidarth's rider... Vidarth's rider... I see heaven when I see thee, Vidarth's rider, And thy name is like the song that the wind whispers... Vidarth's rider... Vidarth's rider! If I reach out to thee, Do not tremble and shrink from the touch of my hand on thy hair. Let my fingers but see Thou art warm and alive, and no phantom to fade in the air. Vidarth's rider... Vidarth's rider... I have sought thee, sung thee, dreamed thee, Vidarth's rider! Now I've found thee, and the world shall know thy glory. Vidarth's rider... Vidarth's rider! (Original: 'Dulcinea' from "Man of La Mancha") [Editor's Note: That was the scroll Kylarr dropped. ;) While it was ICly written by Kylarr, I can admit at this late date that it was OOCly written by me, as part of the plot to be evil to R'val. ;) ] Kylarr bows and heads toward the inner cavern. Kylarr walks towards the inner cavern. Caitria levels a glare at Myklarr. "I mayn't be Weyrleader, but I do know enough to recognize trouble when I see it, and the two of you together are it." She looks a bit mollified by Kylarr's words, and turs to Myklarr, obviously expecting something similar from him. Kassima peers at over at the scroll Kylarr apparently dropped, craning her neck to try to get a look at it but then giving up the effort when it's too far away to make out the lettering. The baby is more interest to her right now, cute thing that he is. "What pretty eyes you have," she coos at the child. Karise blinks? Is she seeing double? No, there are two men in the room that look alike. Odd.....maybe she sould eat and ponder on it. So she does, digging into the first bowl with relish. Myklarr snorts, but quietly. "Everybody always fawns over him or M'larr," he mutters, angrily, looking down at his feet. Where he sees something. In Kassi's arms, Cailivan yawns again, still in a very cute manner. Then he blinks. Adorable. :) R'val peers at the scroll the lad dropped, and reaches for it. Caitria shakes her head with a hint of impatience, and heads back to Kassi and the baby. Salless shoos the layabouts out of the Living Cavern, getting them out of her way. Myklarr finally shakes his head. "Not that anybody else cares," he mutters and storms out towards the bowl. He looks over his shoulder, giving Caitria a dark glare before he leaves. R'val notices the scroll and picks it up. Benden Weyr> Caitria woo. An IC enemy? Rah! :) R'val unravels the scroll. As he reads, his eyebrows shoot up. Benden Weyr> Myklarr has to idle... argh. Devid tries to get a look at the scroll R'val picked up, but is to far away, it isn't any of his business anyways. Kassima glances over at R'val. "What's that?" she asks, nodding towards the scroll. R'val turns the scroll upside down. Sideways. On one end. blinks at it, "Whoa." is all he says. Caitria settles into the seat next to Kassi, watching her son with a smile. Then she peers at R'val. "What?" Karise could glance, but she is too busy eating, as the sloshing of spoon and mming prevails over that silly reading anyway. Kassima lifts one eyebrow. "Whoa? Is that what it says? Whoa?" R'val stuffs it in his pocket, "It's nothing." He says quickly. Benden Weyr> Devid says, "Karise, do you ever get full." R'val stands decisively and glances towards the inner cavern. "Scuse me, all." R'val walks towards the inner cavern. Benden Weyr> Karise says, "Nope. I have a bottomless pit for a stomach. :)" Benden Weyr> R'val says, "Hey, that's me RL ;)" Kassima tsks in disappointment. "I have a feeling that scroll was something that would've been interesting to see. Wonder why he left in such a hurry?" Benden Weyr> Myklarr grins, evilly. Caitria blinks after R'val. "I have no idea." Benden Weyr> Karise smirks. "Me too....that's why it's easy to portray.....food. :) Kassima hrms, then grins at the Weyrherder. "I suppose we can always drag the story out of him when he returns, aye?" Kyril pops in from *between* and lands on the nearest accessable perch. He chirrups agreeably upon arriving. Kyril flies off towards the inner cavern. [Editor's Note: Kylarr invited me to send him to spy, so I did. ;) ] Kyril> Kylarr gulps, taking a deep breath. "Um...R'val..." Kyril> R'val holds up the scroll he found, his eyes on the young lad, "Your writing?" He doesn't sound angry. Kyril> Kylarr winces, taking time to study his boots before looking back up at R'val, completely ignoring his brother. "I...wrote it all by myself," he says quietly. "It's my first song." Kyril> R'val smiles and pats the scroll in his pouch, a bit awkwardly, "It's well written. I"m..sorry I found it. I don't think you wanted it to be found." Kyril> R'val looks at the scroll, then back at the boy, "I feel as if I've violated your privacy by reading it. I shouldn't have, and i'm sorry.' He proffers the scroll to Kylarr. Kyril> Kylarr smiles brightly at the praise. "Thanks! But...I *do* want it heard. I want that song to be sung at every gather and hatching party and birthing day!" He smiles tenderly at R'val. "No need to apologize...I'd hoped to sing the first time you heard or saw those words...but it's okay." He takes back the scroll. Kyril> R'val glances furtively around before setting the scroll down. Kyril> R'val blinks, 'Kylarr, I...erm..it /is/ a very nice song, but...I don't particularily want my name sung on a regular basis." He smiles at the boy gently, "I really don't want that kind of exposure." Misharn walks in from the bowl. Kyril> R'val adds, with a smile, "Not that I"ll stop you from singing it. If you want. Tis very nice." T'yn walks in from the bowl. T'yn smiles and then salutes. "T'yn brownrider of Adroth. Forts Duties to you and your queens." Misharn curtsies to all present and says, "I have a messaage for Master Caitria, from Master Garrin at teh MasterbeastHall. Caitria looks up from her juice, and says, with a slight grin, "Well, you've found her. That'd be me." Devid waves and smiles at T'yn as he walks into the living cavern. Kyril> Kylarr looks at R'val with a wide-eyed look. "But *why* wouldn't you want it to be heard? Why don't you want to be the most famous rider on Pern, whose name is know by young and old alike?" He smiles slightly, still confused. "I'll be sure to sing it...often and in your honour, R'val." Misharn smiles, "Oh yes, I remember. You had to fly straight to attend the CM meeting a while back. How is the baby?" She looks around for him? Kassima nods to T'yn and Misharn. "G'deve; Benden's duties to Fort and her queens as well." She smiles and then returns her attention to Cailivan. "Tria, your son has to be the *cutest* child I've ever seen." Kyril> R'val lays a hand on Kylarr's shoulder a bit awkwardly, "Because, Kylarr, I"m..a private person. I don't want my name to be famous. At all." He smiles reassuringly, "But really, it's a /nice/ song." T'yn pours a mug of Klah and settles as folks chat. Caitria smiles, nodding towards the baby in Kassi's arms. "He's fine...that'd be him." She fair glows at the greenrider's praise. "I think so, too." Karise looks up and nods to T'yn. She'd say hello, but at the moment a spoonful of stew is in it, so it wouldn't be wise. So she nods, like a good little candidate, and chews. Afterwards, she rises and trots over to T'yn and Misharn, asking, "Can I get you two anything?" Kyril> Kylarr notices the scroll and picks it up. Misharn smiles as she sees cailavan, and shakes her ehad, "No thank you. Master Tria, I hope you are recovering nicely. Here is the message." She holds out a wrapped and sealed piece of hide for Caitria. Kyril> Kylarr frowns slightly, then smiles, somewhat hopefully. "Then you'd like me to sing it for you in private?" Kyril> R'val shakes his head with a smile, "That would be very sweet, Kylarr, but...No thank you." He smiles gently, "I' don't..lean that way." T'yn looks up and waves to a few folk he knows and turns to curiously look about the chamber. Caitria takes the message, with a smile. "Thanks. And I'm doing quite well." Kassima smiles at the little boy, fair turned to mush by the presence of a baby. "Wonder what color eyes he'll have, once they're nay blue any more?" Caitria hmmms. "Maybe brown. Not sure." She makes a wry face, and mutters something about having a better idea if she knew who the kiddo's father was. Karise minces her way back to her meal...all two bowls of it. Good, and they're still hot! The girl digs back in, the first bowl becoming clean in no time flat. Kyril> The smile that had lit up Kylarr's young, hopeful face suddenly disappears, a look of profound sadness taking its place. He swallows heavily and nods, suddenly unable to meet the bluerider's eyes, stuffing the scroll into his pocket. Misharn peers curiously at teh babe, "He's a handsome lad, that's for sure. I'm glad you're doing well." Kyril> R'val squeezes Kylarr's shoulder and smiles gently at the boy, looking faintly guilty for the expression he caused, "That doesn't mean, Kylarr, that I don't appreciate the thought, nor that I'm not honored that you composed a song about me. I am! It's very sweet of you, and I'm touched that someone of your ability would write a song just for me." T'yn relaxes back against the wall as his hands cradle the warm mug. Kassima chuckles softly. "You know, Tria, this little one might be the next youngling to be the talk of the Weyr. Mayhaps he'll even have a 'friend' like Jaeleka's Sock." Misharn looks at Caitria, "Master, Do you have a messsage for me to take back to te Hall for anyone? T'yn here has been gracious enough to offer to fly me to the Gather, on his brown Adroth. Caitria smiles to the apprentice again. "Thank, but no....hm. Apprentice." Apparently, she groped for a name, then missed. "The word should be spread about the Hall already, if Tranor's done his work well." At Kassi's words, she chuckles. "Lovely." Kassima's smile turns slightly mischievous. "In fact, perhaps he'll even Impress a fire-lizard like 'Leka's, once he's her age." T'yn smiles and inclines his head. ' T'yn says "An holor and no problem." Misharn curtsies again, "Then by your leave?" Caitria blinks at Kassi. "That's it. I'm locking him in my room til he's eighteen." She winks, then nods to the apprentice. "By all means. And enjoy yourself." Misharn dimples, "I hope I do. It's my first gAther. Kyril> Kylarr's face crumples and he turns away, flinching at the bluerider's touch. "I don't need your pity. Or for you to condescend." He takes a deep, shuddering breath. "If you'll excuse me," he says, his voice barely a whisper, "I'm going to gather my things for a return trip to the HarperHall." Caitria chuckles softly. "You should enjoy it for sure, then." Kyril> R'val shakes his head, "You don't have my pity. And I'm certainly not condescending to you Kylarr. I mean it. I'm touched that you wrote this, and it truly is a work of art, you've the making of an excellent harper.' He smiles again, "I just..don't return the sentiment in that manner." Misharn grins and nods, "Thank you." T'yn smiles at the Master Herder and nods politely. Misharn walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Devid scoops up his empty mug, and heads off towards the kitchen with it. T'yn says "cleas Skies Ma'am." Devid walks off towards the kitchen. T'yn walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Caitria nods to the brownrider, as well. "And to you." Missed. From the kitchen, Devid rinses out his mug in the sink, and dries it putting it back into the cupboard all clean and ready for someone else to use. From the kitchen, Devid walks into the Living Cavern. Kyril> Kylarr still can't force himself to look at R'val. Clenching his jaw, he closes his eye and takes several deep breaths. "Myklarr was right, then. At least about something," he says quietly. "I'm an idiot and a fool." Kyril> R'val smiles at Kylarr, "Why? because you're a deeply emotional person? Not at all. Don't misunderstand me, Kylarr, I admire your artistic talent, and I am touched at your feelings, but...I don't feel /any/ attraction..." Kassima glances towards the Inner Caverns and hrms. "Wonder what's going on in there that's taking so long?" she muses aloud. Karise starts on her second bowl, large spoon aiding in her cause to become full. She lets out a sigh of contentment. Hmm? "Going on where?" she asks looking about, eyes actually off her bowl. Caitria shakes her head. "No idea." She hms, then asks, a hint of wistfulness in her voice, "Can I have my son back?" She grins slightly. Kassima smiles. "Of course, Tria." She hands Cailivan back to his mum, with a bit of reluctance. You carefully put down the baby. Caitria lifts the baby into her arms. Kyril> Kylarr nods his head, jerkily. "You don't have to just be nice, R'val. It's okay. I'm used to it." With that, he turns on his heel and goes off toward the weyrfolk quarters. Kassima nods towards the Inner Caverns. "In there. 'Tis probably nothing; pay me nay heed." Caitria snuggles the little boy close, then grins slightly at Kassi. Kyril> Kylarr nods jerkily to the bluerider and then heads out toward the living cavern. Kylarr walks here from the Inner Cavern. Kylarr strides quickly through the living cavern, his head down, not meeting anyone's eyes, the very picture of dejection. Caitria blinks, and gently nudges Kassi. "What's with him?" she murmurs softly. Kassima grins back at Tria and then looks up at Kylarr, her puzzled expression returning. She seems hesitant to ask, though. "Heyla, Kylarr...." She blinks at his dejected appearance, then blinks again, now absolutely and totally bemused. "I have *nay* idea," she murmurs back to Tria. Kylarr glances over, lifting one hand in a farewell wave as he heads out toward the bowl. "Bye," he says softly. Kylarr walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Kassima peers after Kylarr and shakes her head. "Maybe R'val knows... but I've rarely seen anyone go from being as happy as he was to being that depressed. Something truly awful must've happened." Karise hmms, spoon handle hanging from the girl's mouth. Hey...wasn't he the happy one? Or sad. Can't remember....too busy stuffing her face. So she asks, glancing over to Kassi as spoon is pulled out. "Do you know?" she peers. R'val walks here from the Inner Cavern. R'val ambles out of the inner cavern, his expresion thoughtful. Kassima shakes her head and repeats, "I've nay any idea. Something catastrophic, I daresay...." She glances at R'val as he comes in and both eyebrows shoot up. Bluntly, she asks, "What was *that* all about?" R'val offers Kassima a bland, deceptive smile, "First loves." He flops into a seat. Kassima's eyebrows raise even higher, somehow, and she murmurs something about *really* wishing she'd seen that scroll. R'val just smiles faintly and offers no further explanation as he siits by tria, kissing her on the cheek. Salless shoos the layabouts out of the Living Cavern, getting them out of her way. Caitria hms, shifting the baby in her arms. She mutters to R'val, "What... that... then?" "First Loves?" Karise /peers/ at the blue rider. What does first loves have to do with anything? She's never had one, of course, unless falling in loves with canine pups count. R'val smiles at Karise, "Exactly that." Aladis walks in from the bowl. R'val mutters to Caitria, "... tell... later.... private. " Caitria nods slightly, with a smile. Karise seems, well, confused. Can't agree with something you haven't had, right? So she goes back to eating, glancing up to the couple every now and again, but still making quick work of her meal. You whisper to Salless, "Something strange is going on around here, I tell you. Just the other day, two of M'kla's children--Myklarr and Kylarr, I think--were having a fight right in the middle of the Living Caverns, and Kylarr dropped this scroll. I'm not sure what was on it, but whatever it was certainly surprised R'val! And not a half of an hour later, Kylarr walked back in here from the Inner Caverns looking the most depressed I've ever seen him. I wonder what it all means?" She looks delighted at hearing the latest news around the weyr. Aladis saunters back in, adjusting the fastening of her tunic. She runs a hand through her curls, then wanders over to pour herself another mug of ale, a large smile on her face. Kassima waves to Aladis, still looking faintly puzzled, but smiling at the other greenrider. "Good to see someone in a cheerful mood," she quips. Kindre walks here from the Inner Cavern. Salless blows a stray lock out of her eyes and continues polishing a table. Aladis smiles lazily as she takes a sip of her ale. "Cheerful?" she drawls, "I'm...definitely...cheerful." R'val regards Aladis with a wry smiel and murmurs something to Kassima. R'val mutters to Kassima, "She... ran... the records..." R'val whispers "She and T'fian ran off into the records room about an hour ago. I'm not /surprised/ she looks cheerful." Kindre smiles, "Ma'ams, Sirs," before nearly darting for the klah. Pouring a to-the-lip mug, she takes a quick seat to unwind in. R'val * This mutter brought to you by the 1996 Olympics. Benden Weyr> Caitria hees at R'val. Kassima nods. "Aye, and you look it...." She turns to catch R'val's words and blinks, then hides a smile and merely says, "Ah, so." Benden Weyr> R'val was just mentioning to his mother how omnipresent the olympics are, now even my mutters betray me. R'val mutters to Kassima, "I... Asabeth is glowing... mmmm?" R'val whispers "I think Asabeth is glowing ever so slightly, mmmm?" Benden Weyr> Caitria gee. What was /that/ mutter about, R'val? ;) Benden Weyr> R'val whaps +mutter. Gee, I wonder :) Aladis glances over toward the Thunderbolt table, lips curling in a smile as she gives Kassima a long, thoughtful look. She takes another drink of her ale. Benden Weyr> Kindre giggles... Benden Weyr> T'lean would rather forget about the olympics himself Benden Weyr> Karise patpats T'lean, and semi idles while she eats...oddly enough, stew. Benden Weyr> R'val nods in vehement agreement with T'lean Benden Weyr> Caitria grins at Karise. Is it /bluerider/ stew? Kassima glances at Aladis and hrms. "Could be," she murmurs back, with a slight shrug. Very quietly, of course. Don't want to attract attention. Aladis continues to gaze at Kassima, the tip of her tongue wetting her lips. Benden Weyr> Karise checks..... Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Does this LC, by any chance, have a conveniently nearby pit or secret passage to use for escape? ;)" R'val glances from Aladis to Kassima, and hides a grin behind his mug. Benden Weyr> R'val ties Kassima to her chair :) Benden Weyr> Kindre says, "it's packed down here because of /one/ event, and we're a state away from the big stuff :b" Kindre sits content to people watch as she tries to let the klah slowly take away her day. Benden Weyr> Karise shakes her head at Tria. Nope....sorry. Maybe next week. :) Benden Weyr> Caitria okies to Karise. Maybe Kassi'll make you some. Benden Weyr> Aladis grins. Kassima blinks at Aladis and tries to hide an uneasy expression behind her mug. She turns to Tria and R'val and asks, with false gaiety, "How about that snow, huh?" R'val grins at Kassima wickedly, "How about it..." He snickers behind his mug. Benden Weyr> Karise grins. Caitria catches the look Aladis is giving Kassi, and blinks. "Snow?" she offers helpfully. "It's...uh. Cold." Caitria dropped Great Big Hole o' Escape. Benden Weyr> Caitria digs a hole for Kassi. ;) Great Big Hole o' Escape has left. Benden Weyr> R'val steals it ;) Kassima nods vigorously. A little more enthusiasm than the answer warranted, perhaps. "Aye, aye, it's certainly cold, got to say that about it... and... it's... it's wet, too," she continues rather lamely. "And it's white. Aye, it's cold and wet and white... really something, snow is." Benden Weyr> Caitria aiee! From R'val's arms, Great Big Hole o' Escape has left. Caitria dropped Great Big Hole o' Escape. Benden Weyr> Caitria mwahaha. Benden Weyr> R'val AIE! Benden Weyr> Kassima LOL! I definitely appreciate the thought, Tria! Benden Weyr> R'val pouts. Aladis's gaze travels from Kassi's head to toe and back again. She takes a sip of her ale. "Nice...outfit," she murmurs. "Think I'll go to the hot springs," she says, directly to the greenrider. Great Big Hole o' Escape: It's big. And it's a hole. Kassi could prolly fit in it. Benden Weyr> Kindre laughs! Benden Weyr> Kassima heys, it's enter-locked! Benden Weyr> Caitria says, "Better, Kassi" Benden Weyr> R'val snickers evilly. R'val leans into Kassima and mutters to her with a wicked grin, He mutters to Kassima, "... the Hot Springs,... say we go join Aladis?" You sense R'val leans into Kassima and mutters to her with a wicked grin, "I feel like a trip to the Hot Springs, what say we go join Aladis?" Kassima glances down at her clothes. "Um... thank you," she says, sounding confused and maybe slightly--panicked? Nah, couldn't be. "I hope you have a good soak at the springs. Watch out for the tunnelsnakes and such." Aladis winks to Kassi, then saunters back out of the living cavern, pausing in the doorway to smile to her and waggle her fingers. Great Big Hole o' Escape Benden LC> Kassima has left. Benden LC> Hidden in the hole, Kassima has arrived. [Editor's Note: ICly, of course, Kassi was not really hiding in a hole. OOCly, I was cracking up a *lot* at this point. ;) ] Benden Weyr> R'val says, "Oy, whatta mutter :)" Benden Weyr> Kassima says, "Much better, Tria, thanks. :)" Benden Weyr> Caitria giggles. Benden LC> Been there, done that. And it was good. Karise finishes up her secondf bowl of stew....dily wondering if she should get a third. Would it be greedy. Sure. But does she care? There lies the question.... Benden LC> Aladis walks down the short tunnel and out into the bowl. Lysseth> Aladis leaps up onto Asabeth's outstretched foreclaw, and vaults up onto her neck with practiced ease. Kassima blinks at R'val. "Um..." she stalls. "It's rather brisk outside... sure the hot springs would be a good idea?" R'val nods his head to Kassima with a huge smile, pretending innocence, "The springs would be wonderfully warm! Don't you feel like going Tria/" he turns to caitria. Benden Weyr> Aladis muahahahas. And goes to sleep now. More evil tomorrow! Benden Weyr> R'val FEARS Proddy Aladis! :) Benden Weyr> Kassima hopes Tria will keep this hole conveniently handy, then.... :) *Zhaiwafflesnugs Aladis.* Benden Weyr> Caitria will, Kassi. *snuggAladis* Caitria chuckles softly and says, to spare Kassi, "I don't know about that, R'val." Kindre blinks confusedly as she tries to follow the inuendo's passing back and forth, or what she thinks are ones. R'val chuckles softly and murmurs to Kassi and TRia, 'Shards, but that girl's proddy." Kassima flashes Tria a grateful smile. "You are so right. Isn't she right? It's far, far, far, far too brisk for the Springs. Springs would be bad." Caitria grins at Kassi, and can't help but say, "I'm sure you could find a way to keep warm." Kindre offers her two marks worth before getting up, "I was out in them most of the day," she wves over her damp clothes as if to prove it, "Going to and from them hardly makes it worth it." Kassima gives Tria the evil eye, then turns to R'val. "I've nay seen many proddy riders act like that before; she wasn't throwing knives or anything. Do many of them do that?" From her tone, she is desperate to hear that's not true. R'val nods to Kassima with a smile, "A lot, Kassi, I'm surprised you've never noticed it." Kindre walks towards the inner cavern. Kassima hrms. "I guess I've just managed to avoid most other greenriders when they're proddy. Faranth knows I try to.... Anyway. About that snow. Has Vidarth started anymore snowfights?" Benden Weyr> Aladis really does take her tired, proddy self to bed now. Night, all! Benden Weyr> Kassima zhais. Night, Aladis! :) Benden Weyr> Caitria snugsAladis. Great Big Hole o' Escape has left. A LCG flees shrieking through the LC. Kassima sighs and inquires, "So, aside from that oddity today, anything interesting happen to either of you recently? Nay for...." She watches the Lower Caverns Girl flee shrieking and *blinks.* "Do they make Flirk's Cider now?" she mutters under her breath. R'val glances after the lower caverns girl and blinks, 'What was that?" In Tria's arms, Cailivan opens his eyes and, startled by the shrieking, lets out a wail of his own. Caitria frowns slightly, shooting a nasty look after the LCG, and shhhhhes the baby (to no avail), gently rocking him. R'val leans into Tria, frowning, 'Is he allright? Just startled?" Caitria smiles slightly, and shakes her head. "Nay, just that." She pauses. "I think." The baby's wails slowly taper to a sleepy murmur. Kassima just shakes her head as the LCG's wail grows thinner in the distance, and asks Valetudan, the conveniently NPC Candidate, to go after her and make sure she's all right. Kassi then turns towards Tria and awwws. "He must've been scared by that awful noise... yeesh, what a voice that girl had!" Caitria shifts Cail in her arms a bit....then blinks. "Hm." Then she blinks again, with a faint, wry smile. "Lovely." Ursa walks in from the bowl. Kassima blinks at the blinking Tria. "What?" she queries, waving to Ursa in greeting. Ursa hurries in to snatch herself a roll. She bolt back to the door, but stops just in time when she spots Tria and the baby, and just has to wander over to look appreciatively. Caitria gets to her feet. "Cail's given me a bit of a gift," she says, with a slight smile. She grins at Ursa, and obligingly angles the baby so she can get a good look at him. R'val glances at Tria and grimaces," Oh dear. Do you need help with him?"He half-=stands. Ursa oohs and ahhs appropriately, but also finds herself sniffing, just a little, "A gift?" she echoes intelligently. Kassima wrinkles her nose. "A gift... interesting terminology, Tria," she says with a grin. Caitria nods, with a slight smile. "He made it all by himself, too," she says, with a soft chuckle. She hms at R'val. "I think I remember how to do it from my brothers," she says, with a wink. "But if you'd like to come..." R'val stands and folds an arm around Tria, "Ok.' He winks. Ursa sniffs again and says, "beautiful baby, Tria." Her tone is sincere, but she is backing away slightly. "See ya'll!" she waves and resumes her interuppted exodus. Caitria chuckles at Ursa, and nods. Waving while holding the kiddo would be bad. Calling a farewell, she takes the little one into the inner caverns, before he adds a new "room freshener" to the LC. R'val walks towards the inner cavern. Kassima yawns. "Well, 'spose I'll head out as well... to the Springs--or maybe nay," she says as she recalls who might still be in the Springs. Definitely not. "Perhaps just out. G'deve, everyone." She smiles and waves, heading out. Caitria walks towards the inner cavern. You walk down the short tunnel and out into the bowl.
