You fly carefully towards the main entrance, then land.

You slide down off of Tovith, your feet landing on the ground with a soft
*thump*.

Tovith tenses, then springs upwards.

Tovith> You swoop to the southwest and backwing to land in the Feeding
Grounds.

Tovith> Kazeth takes his time with the herdbeast, emptying it completely,
lapping the last drops from its neck. He bites the carcass, lifts it up,
and gives it a shake. The neck, half-torn already, rips through, sending
the head flying across the pen. As he drops the body, he lets out an amused
rumble, and then corners another caprine
Tovith> Acevedath worries the wherry carcass, trying to get the last drops
from it. Her hide glows with green-chrome flares in the sunlight, the
darker streaks highlighting the lighter ones.

Leya just blinks as Tovith takes off as soon as she touches the ground.
"What?" She looks around, then pales, "Oh no."

Dragon> Acevedath bespoke Ranth, Tovith, and Kazeth with << I will fly high
and far, turn and twist... you will not catch me! >>

Schmitt's standing, arms crossed with her back to Janine.

Dragon> Ranth bespoke Acevedath, Tovith, and Kazeth with << Perhaps
not...but you will be lonely and cold, flying so far away, all alone.

Tovith> Tovith charges into the feeding grounds, landing on a herdbeast
fronzen with fear and breaking it's back. He bite off his head, then drinks
down it's blood. He looks up at the glowing green, his eyes whirling a
red-orange.

Janine shivers even more as the dragon draft of working wings billows her
clothes, Tovith leaping to the challenge.

Tovith> Ranth snarls at the newcomer, seizing a scrawny beast and flinging
it at him.

Dragon> Tovith bespoke Flight with << She must come down eventually. You
can't fly forever. >>

Siara looks over her shoulder at Leya and frowns, moving slightly closer to
Janine.

Tovith> Acevedath tosses the drained body across the field, errupting in a
loud trumpet, her eyes whirling their challenge as she crouches, focused on
the sky.
Tovith> Acevedath vaults into the air gracefully, looking down briefly at
Feeding Grounds below as she rises.
Tovith> Acevedath leaps into the air!
Tovith> Tovith rears up onto his hindlegs, catching the beast neatly in his
jaws. Youuuu're out!
Tovith> Kazeth snarls, drops the half-blooded caprine, and follows.
Tovith> Kazeth leaps into the air!
Tovith> Ranth leaps into the air!
Tovith> Tovith hurredly finishes off the herdbeast, still drinking down
it's lifeblood as he rises after her. He what's left he spits out after
he's done, letting it fall back to ground.

Tovith> You leap into the air!

Tovith> Ranth lifts himself with solid grace from the feeding pens, eyes on
the sillouhette Acevedath makes against the sky, tracing the line of her
wings, of her lovely neck, of her glistening flanks. A rumble of
appreciation issues from his throat, as he hovers mid-air, waiting to see
which way she will lead the chase.

Janine watches the glowing body of her lifemate emerge above the feeding
grounds dust cloud. A strained look of exertion crosses her face as the
group streak upwards.
Siara sighs yearningly once more, turning, her eyes roving over Janine's
form, as lovely to her as Acevedath's.

Tovith> Acevedath trumpets her challenge once again, body angled for near
vertical climbing. She clears the midlevel weyrs, aiming for the gap on the
north rim.

Leya lets out a deep sigh of resignation as she watches her own lifemate
follow her friend's green. She wraps her arms around herself as if to
comfort herself in this time.
Schmitt turns to snap at the sky and, presumably, that chasing blue she
claims as hers most of the time, "Yes, damn you, chase! Chase!"
Siara's features crease momentarily into a frown as Schmitt curses, and
then relax back into wistful prettiness as she watches Janine, body swaying
as she shares flight with her lifemate.
Janine's arms hang loose at her side, twitching and lifting slightly in
time with Acevedath's wingbeats. She leans and sways as the green veers to
the right.

Tovith> Tovith struggles to rise in the unfamilar air currents, beating his
beats against the stubborn air. Finally, he finds and catches a warm
thermal, letting it carry him upward after the bright green arrow shooting
up into the sky. The arrow that has pierced his head, so that now his
doomed ever to follow it's path.
Tovith> Kazeth chases, his body tense with challenge and excitement as he
follows the green, blood still dripping from his muzzle and talons. He
cries back to her, his voice haunting, teasing, and full of lust.
Tovith> Ranth follows after Acevedath, a blue arrow shot to follow the
desire of his heart, of his churning ichor. He passes the weyrs with nary a
glance, skimming easily after the green, at least for now.
Tovith> Acevedath glances back once in her steep banked turn to the right,
ever climbing. A haughty bugle of defiance rings out once, then she looks
forwards towards the gap, so near.

Leya swallows hard, then closes her eyes to better devote her concentration
to her lifemate. She sees now only through his eyes. Her hands tighten
around her arms, which are tense across her chest, leaving white, then red
marks when she moves them to another place along her arms.

Tovith> Ranth 's bugle resounds off the stone walls of the Weyr as he turns
to follow Acevedath. his reply to the challenge, an amused smugness at the
green's defiance, a male confidence that seeks to overpower, to capture.
Tovith> Kazeth slows slightly to make the turn as he approaches the gap,
his wingbeats strong and fast, echoing his rider's pulse. That bugle spurs
him back to a faster pace, heedless of the danger.

Janine grins at Acevedath's defiance, a ferral look that doesn't bode well
for anyone. "Go! Go my love! You are the air and light as a floating
feather, fast as a bolt of summer lightning. Higher!" she urges her mate on.
Siara laughs suddenly, her hair flying back from her face as the dragons
create a wind, rising, "Yes, yes!" she cries.
Schmitt's gaze lowers from the sky to the ground, halting at Janine. With a
shudder, she gives in to the flight and the feelings, and takes a step
towards the greenrider.

Tovith> Tovith spirals after her, like a child's toy dancing up in the sky
instead of the ground so far below. He keeps his eyes steadfast on
Acevedath, not turning to the right or to the left, but on his goal, the
prize at the end of the race. He steadies his wings and prepares to follow
her, wherever she goes.
Tovith> Acevedath rockets through the gap, raising her wings to shoot
through, her talons nearly scraping the rocky ridge. Her small size is
sufficient to make it through untouched. After the wall falls away on the
other side, she banks hard left, hugging the steep sides as she climbs
upwards.

Leya seems to draw further into herself, not moving. The only sign that she
is not a remarkablely life-like statue is the rising and falling her chest
as she breaths. In and out, in and out.
Janine holds her breath as Acevedath shoots the gap, eye's closing so she
may see with her lifemates eyes. "Yes.. love. Close.. that's where you're
best!" she encourages.

Tovith> As Kazeth rockets towards the gap, fuzzy logic intrudes on his
thought - he can't fit through that! A hard downthrust as he veers left
into a thermal, and he shoots upward, clearing by mere feet. Distanced from
Acevedath now, he cries loudly and goes with reckless speed after her.
Tovith> Ranth flies steadily, unfazed when Acevedath sneaks into a spot too
small for him to fit through. He takes the time to navigate a course
around, and then speeds up once more, with more determination, a hotter
desire than burned in him even a moment before. Trick him, will she? He
thinks not. He lifts his wings, gathering speed from the winds and drives
after her.
Tovith> Tovith keeps his wings out sailing upwards on the air currents
until the very last moment, then he tucks his wings to his back, making
himself at small as possible. He shoots through the gap in the rock, like
thread through the eye of a needle. Once he is through, the wings snap back
out and he's rising again. Upward, ever upward to follow a rising star.

Siara frowns and shakes her head, wincing. "Close, close," she mutters
incoherently. "Too tricky."
Schmitt's thoughts are centered on Janine, and Acevedath, but not the
flight itself - Kazeth should know what he's doing by now. She licks her lips.
Leya gasps, her eyes flying open as Tovith comes within a fingerbreath of
scrapping his sides against sharp rock. He stares up at the sky, hugging
herself tighter. Her then breath slows and becomes more even and she closes
her eyes again.

Tovith> Acevedath pops up over the top of the rim, within the sight of
those below, winging back over the bowl, still climbing, striving for the
cooler air. The setting sun catches her from the side when she emerges from
the rim's shadow, making her flare green against the blue azure above.
Tovith> Ranth gives out an exasperated bugle, seeming to conceed that yes,
she's good, she's very, very good. The exasperation turns to a draconic
moan of lust as she shows herself to her best advantage, the glow of green
against blue irresistable. Cool, considered moves forgotten, he executes a
complex series of turns to free himself from the pack and make his way over
the bowl in her direction, using all the speed he can muster.

Siara pushes her hair back from her face and licks her lips slowly,
stepping in a circle around Janine.

Tovith> Tovith keeps his wings beating in rhythm with his heart and desire.
He keeps after Acevedath. She can't go on forever and when she tires, he'll
be there, ready to catch whenever she should fall. His eyes absorb her
flaming beauty against the azure sky. Verdant green against pure blue, only
needing earthy brown for completion.
Tovith> Kazeth's flight sinks low as soon as he clears the rim, seeking for
the familiar friendly wind that will speed him towards the light at the end
of the tunnel of love. He catches it, and is off - from far behind the pack
to nearly up with it in a matter of seconds, it seems like.

Janine 'ahh's as her best friend for life comes into view, wings
outstretched and still beating strong. She sneaks a look at Siara, and eyes
widening, she see's Leya. A tiny grin to her then another look Schmitt's
way. Beads of perspiration are on her forehead, the effort telling in that
fashion.
Schmitt watches Siara with narrowed eyes, and steps closer to Janine
herself. Edging sidewards, her gaze fixes in the sky once more as if not
noticing that she's stepping right into Siara's path.
Siara pauses as she finds Schmitt in her path. Dark eyes stare, as she
steps around her, to place herself once more by Janine.
Leya stands in the sweltering heat, her flight jacket still on as she never
had time to take it off. Her hair stick to her wet face, sweat dripping off
her chin in drops. She ignores it. She doesn't have thought to spare for
someting so trivial as the heat. Her face is lifted up the sky and the
setting sun that she can feel, but not see.

Tovith> Acevedath noses downwards, streaking into a power dive for the
lake's inviting coolness below. Not tucking the wings, she strokes ever.
Gaining immense speed at the cost of altitude. Before stiking it's surface
she levels out above it's rippled surface, the wind of her passage hazing
it as she heads for the opposite side of the bowl. The whistling of her
wings can be heard across the breadth of the bowl. Before reaching the
other side, she rises once again, wings beating fiercly going straight up
over the heads of the riders clustered at the main entrance to the caverns.

Schmitt turns to follow Siara's path around, then locks her eyes on Janine.
Well. Hi there. Am I in your personal space?

Tovith> Kazeth's got his wind and is loathe to leave it, well as it's
treated him, andhe hesitates for just a second before dipping to follow
her. This puts him at the rear of the pack once more, but when she goes
back up, he's not as far down as the rest and ends up atop the pack, closer
to her! on the way back up.
Tovith> Ranth would follow Acevedath into the lake happily, if it means a
chance to wrap his wings about her, to twine his neck ever so gently with
hers, but does avoid that trap, although his gleaming blue hide has lost a
bit of its sheen with the tortorous course she sets. His blood roars almost
as loud as his bugle, as he is roused by her cleverness, by the lengthy
chase in a way he has not been in many flights.

Siara pushes sweaty hair back from her face, breathing hard, hands
clenching into fists, "Enough!"

Tovith> Tovith does folds his wings however, dive bombing after Acevedath
like a great brown arrow. He sees her begin to pull up below and stretches
out his again to pull himself out of his headlong dive as she passes him on
the way upward again. He doesn't even spare a glance to cool, inviting
water as he skims over them and back up after the hot, glowing green. Some
things are much better than a nice swim.
Tovith> Acevedath flashes straight up, her wings nearly a blur in their
beating, but they aren't as fast as in the first climb, her will is there
but the body is faltering in her extreme effort. At rim height again she
feints a run for the gap again.

Janine sighs and turns for the guest weyr, a last look at the nearly done
flight before she heads up the steps.
Janine heads up the steps to the guest weyr.

Tovith> If Tovith fit through it, well, Kazeth ought to be able to. His
reason's fading as his own body tires, anyhow. He follows the green flash
superwoman blindly.

Schmitt heads up the steps to the guest weyr.

You walk up the steps carefully, arriving on the guest ledge.

Tovith> Ranth just pauses, hovering in mid-air once more, both catching his
breath and trying to keep track of where the brilliantly coy Acevedath
flies to next. Watching as she reaches the rim, he pushes himself forward,
finding strenghth in his fiery lust to follow.

Siara comes up the steps from the floor of the bowl.
Siara strides into the weyr, feline, stalking, determined, staying right on
Janine's heels.

Tovith> Tovith finds himself a thermal and uses it to full advantage. He
spreads his wings out, letting them bear him upward catching the wind like
sails. He watches as Acevedath makes for the gap yet again. He eyes the gap
and decides not to press his luck or his precious hide once again. He keeps
in the thermal, rising above the glowing, glimmer of green. He'll take the
high road this time and be ready for her when she comes through yet again.

Schmitt automatically heads for her corner, then pauses, whirling around.
/This/ greenrider doesn't appear to be packing a knife, so she edges closer.
Janine leans her head against the cool stone wall near the entrance, eye's
closed, seeing with other eyes. Her breathing is hard as if she'd been
running a long sprint.
Leya finds herself a nice patch of wall and sinks down beside it, her back
against the cool stone. She finally notices that she is still wearing her
flight jacket and slowly unbuttons it and shrugs it off. She closes her
eyes again, supporting her bowed head with her hands.

Tovith> Acevedath turns sharply away from the gap, angling upwards at a far
less accute angle, trying for the rim. She drifts away from the wall as she
nears the peaks. She's visibly tiring now, the glow still shining brightly
however. A bugle of defiance rings out once more as she puts on a new burst
of speed, steering upwards once more.
Tovith> Ranth puts everything he has in this charge towards the bewitching
Acevedath. What strength she has! What stamina! How green she glows, even
with all of the strenuous maneuvers she has put them through. With every
last shred of his energy, blue wings spread, lift him, bring him near, so
near, nearly touching and with a croon that is more a groan, he reaches out
with his sinuous neck towards her.

Janine turns her head for the bowl entrance, hearing the shout of her
lifemate. She smiles softly, then closes her eyes once again, arms hugging
herself.
Siara gasps in sharply, moving so close to Janine that there is barely
space between them, and waits, quivering from head to toe.

Tovith> Tovith was already up farther in the sky, but unfoturnately not
directly above her. He beats his wings up against the resisting air, just a
little father up and over. She is there, waiting for him if only he can
reach her. He keeps steadily after her. He is there, brown earth desiring
to be joined with green life against the clear blue sky.
Tovith> With an effort, Kazeth speeds himself up again to whistle through
the air towards Acevedath, a challenging bugle ringing out - I can be as
stubborn as you. Just watch. And with a nice bit of aerial trickery he
darts between two other dragons, his nose finally coming level with her
wings from above. A softer cry, and he drops towards her tempting green
body, so close.

Leya sucks in a deep breath, holding it as she her whole body tenses. She
pushes back against the wall, fingernails biting into skin.
Schmitt creeps ever closer to Janine, her eyes now unblinking.

Tovith> With wings still trying to climb, Acevedath uses the last of her
strength to dodge the pack. Slipping sideways she missies one but blunders
into the soft brown under side of Tovith above her. With instinctive
reaction, she wraps her tail then neck about the brown stranger, crooning
softly.
Tovith> Ranth lets out an exhausted roar of jealous rage and then dives
down to the bowl.
Tovith> Curses! Foiled again. Kazeth snarls his displeasure, and banks
left, folding his wings to drop.
Tovith> Ranth flies carefully towards the main entrance.
Tovith> Kazeth flies carefully towards the main entrance.

Siara lets out a cry of rage that echoes her lifemates and turns and stalks
out of the weyr in bitter disappointment.
Siara walks out into the hallway.
Leya finally opens her eyes, and see Janine.
Janine sighs and reaches for Leya, her eyes soft in the dark weyr.
Schmitt stares at Janine, stomps her foot, and then whirls to run out.
Schmitt walks out into the hallway.

Tovith> Tovith croons lovingly to Acevedath, curling his neck around hers
and cradling her against him with his broad wings as their tails twine. The
perfect ending, flying off together into the sunset.
